CHAPTER VISUAL

Revelation 13 — The dragon empowers two beasts to deceive, persecute, demand worship, and control buying and selling through the mark.

About this illustration

The beasts retain the chapter’s hybrid visionary traits without identifying them with a present nation, person, or technology. The mark is suggested without visible letters, numbers, branding, or speculative design.

Scripture basis: Revelation 13:1–18
  1. 1And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
  2. 2And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
  3. 3And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
  4. 4And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
  5. 5And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
  6. 6And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
  7. 7And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
  8. 8And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
  9. 9If any man have an ear, let him hear.
  10. 10He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
  11. 11And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
  12. 12And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
  13. 13And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
  14. 14And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
  15. 15And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
  16. 16And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
  17. 17And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
  18. 18Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

The Mark of the Beast: Technology Preparations

Revelation 13 foresees a mark on the right hand or forehead tied to buying, selling, and allegiance to the beast. Watchman 33 sees implantable payment devices, brain-computer interfaces, and digital currencies as unprecedented technological preparation, while holding that the prophesied mark itself has not yet appeared.

Israel Preserved: The Wings of a Great Eagle

Revelation shows the woman pursued by the dragon, carried by two wings of a great eagle into her prepared place, and sustained there for three and a half years. Watchman 33 reads the woman as Israel and considers whether American support and a fuller occupation of the land promised to Abraham prepare the way for this still-future preservation.

The Image of the Beast: AI Technology Gives Images Life

Revelation says the second beast gives life to an image so that it speaks and enforces death against those who refuse worship. Watchman 33 sees modern AI-generated video and speech as a partial technological preparation: images can now be animated from a picture or description, while the prophesied image, compulsory worship, and power to kill remain future.

The Runaway Train to the Tribulation

Pastor Dean Odle warns that artificial intelligence, surveillance, economic instability, war, and spiritual deception are accelerating the world toward the tribulation described in Scripture. Moving from Matthew 24 and Revelation to the prophets and epistles, he argues that Christians should expect to endure tribulation rather than escape through a pre-tribulation rapture. He calls believers to reject lukewarmness, bring every thought into obedience to Christ, resist the mark of the beast, prepare wisely for disruption, and strengthen themselves through God’s Word. The sermon closes by urging repentance, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to spend eternity with Jesus.

The Reshaping of Christianity

In “The Reshaping of Christianity,” Pastor Dean Odle warns that Christianity can be counterfeited when biblical authority and personal devotion to Jesus Christ are replaced by religious ritual, institutional loyalty, political identity, occult spirituality, or a universalized “Christ” acceptable to every religion. Beginning with Israel’s golden calf in Exodus 31-32, he argues that people may retain the language of worship while fashioning a god from their own culture and imagination. He connects that pattern with Paul’s warning about “another Jesus,” “another spirit,” and “another gospel” in 2 Corinthians 11 and Galatians 1.

The Second Coming of Jesus Christ

In The Second Coming of Jesus Christ, Pastor Dean Odle warns against teachings that claim Christ already returned, the millennial reign has already occurred, and believers now live in Satan's 'little season.' He begins with the apostolic command to abide in the doctrine of Christ and to reject deceivers, then reads Matthew 24 as a chronological description of a future, unmistakable, worldwide return. Odle emphasizes that the sun and moon will be darkened, the stars will fall, heaven will be rolled back, the mountains and islands will be removed, every tribe will see Christ, and the elect will be gathered after the tribulation.
