The Second Coming of Jesus Christ

About this sermon

In The Second Coming of Jesus Christ, Pastor Dean Odle warns against teachings that claim Christ already returned, the millennial reign has already occurred, and believers now live in Satan's 'little season.' He begins with the apostolic command to abide in the doctrine of Christ and to reject deceivers, then reads Matthew 24 as a chronological description of a future, unmistakable, worldwide return. Odle emphasizes that the sun and moon will be darkened, the stars will fall, heaven will be rolled back, the mountains and islands will be removed, every tribe will see Christ, and the elect will be gathered after the tribulation.

01
Through 28:00

The service opens with worship, exhortation, and prayer. The congregation is urged to leave its comfort zone, hear the Holy Spirit, choose Jesus over the world, walk the narrow road, receive the Word on good ground, and remain ready whether believers die for Christ or live to be gathered at His return. Extended third-party lyrics are omitted from the transcript resource, but the spoken prayers and appeals establish the sermon's central posture: faithful surrender and expectation of the soon-coming King.

02
Through 37:00

Odle begins the sermon in 2 John 7-11. Because Jesus Christ is God come in the flesh, he treats departure from Christ's teaching as spiritually grave rather than a harmless disagreement. Romans 16, the Spirit's guidance into truth, and diligent study of the whole Bible support his call to mark and avoid teachers who mix truth with error. He applies that standard to claims that Jesus already returned and that the millennium is past, arguing that such teaching removes the very signs believers were commanded to watch.

03
Through 46:20

Reading Matthew 24, Odle follows Jesus' sequence from deception, war, famine, persecution, apostasy, and worldwide gospel witness through the abomination of desolation and great tribulation. He gives special attention to Christ's warning not to believe anyone who says He is hidden in a desert or secret chamber. In Odle's interpretation, the return will be as public as lightning across the sky: after the tribulation the celestial lights fail, the powers of heaven shake, all tribes mourn, the Son of Man appears, and the angels gather the elect. He argues that 'this generation' is the generation that sees all these things.

04
Through 53:00

Odle addresses Matthew 16:28, arguing that Peter and John saw the Son of Man's coming through revelation before their physical deaths rather than witnessing a completed public return in the first century. He then distinguishes physical death from spiritual separation, drawing on Jesus' promises that believers pass from death to life and never see death. John 6 and Christ's temple saying illustrate his broader interpretive rule: Scripture sometimes speaks literally and sometimes spiritually, and context determines which is intended.

05
Through 1:03:00

Odle plays portions of online videos promoting the view that the millennium ran roughly from AD 66 to 1066 and that Jesus and the camp of the saints are now hidden near a supposed 'Land of Jesus' around St. Matthew Island and the North Pole. The clips connect compass bearings, old maps, the Statue of Liberty, fallen angels, and Revelation 20's little season. Odle presents these examples as a direct fulfillment of the warning that deceivers would say Christ is here or there. The package records the clips and Odle's allegations for fidelity without independently endorsing or verifying them.

06
Through 1:12:00

Odle dates Revelation to the reign of Domitian, citing the chain from John through Polycarp to Irenaeus, and rejects a pre-AD 70 composition. He then reads the sixth seal: earthquake, darkened sun, bloodlike moon, falling stars, heaven departing as a scroll, displaced mountains and islands, and universal terror before the Lamb. Isaiah 54's promise that mountains will depart reinforces his claim that these physical signs remain future. He also states his own interpretations of the firmament, Mount Zion, and mountains; these are presented as the speaker's views.

07
Through 1:27:00

Connecting Revelation 6 with Zechariah 6, Odle interprets the horsemen as spirits carrying ideologies. He associates the white horse with world-government institutions and the Vatican; the red horse with communism, war, Russia, and China; the black horse with economic control and famine; and the green horse with Islam, death, and persecution. He then reviews contemporary claims about Russia, Ukraine, NATO, nuclear doctrine, food supply, and Muslim population share. These geopolitical assertions and prophetic identifications are attributed to Odle and are not independently verified by this package.

08
Through 1:37:00

At the fifth seal, the souls beneath the altar await judgment while further martyrdom remains ahead. Odle connects this with believers refusing the mark of the beast and with future persecution. He then lays the seals, trumpets, and bowls beside one another as three narrative sequences that begin at different points but converge at the Second Coming. Within his established framework, he identifies earlier trumpets with World War I, World War II, Chernobyl, the Gulf War, and the 2008 economic crisis, while anticipating a sixth-trumpet nuclear war. He locates the resurrection and gathering at the last trumpet, followed by the marriage supper, return to Armageddon, and the millennium.

09
Through 1:43:00

Odle reads the seventh bowl's declaration, 'It is done,' together with the earthquake, fallen cities, judgment of Babylon, vanished islands and mountains, and great hail. He treats Revelation 17-18 as a parenthetical account of Babylon before Revelation 19 resumes the chronology. The saints are called to the marriage supper and clothed in clean linen; heaven opens and Christ rides forth as Faithful and True, followed by the armies in heaven. The beast and false prophet are defeated at Armageddon. Odle stresses that this is a visible, worldwide, judicial appearing—not a secret or local return.

10
Through 1:52:11

The conclusion returns to doctrine and pastoral accountability. Odle warns that false systems isolate selected verses while ignoring contradictory passages, cites the foretold departure from the faith, and treats eschatology as a salvation issue because believers must refuse the mark and endure persecution. He applies Ezekiel's watchman principle to pastors: failing to warn leaves bloodguilt on the teacher. Judgment begins at God's house, yet repentance remains possible. The closing prayer asks God to awaken deceived teachers and prepare believers for persecution, famine, economic pressure, and faithful endurance until Christ comes.

[applause] you know, we moved over to the left side. We've getting a lot of questions about why we moved and, we kind of had a feedback a little bit and something going on with our sound. But you know what else? I think the Lord is using this. He wants us to get out of our comfort zone. Sometimes we get comfortable where we are, but the Lord is always wanting us to go deeper. He's always wanting us to to hear his voice. And you know what? I was talking to Julie this morning. The Lord speaks in a still small voice and sometimes it's easy it's it's it's easy to miss what the Lord is saying because he's he's saying it so gently to us. So we just need a mind a mindset on the Lord today. We need to focus on him and his love for us, but we need to just get out of our comfort zone. You know what I'm saying? Amen. So let's just worship the Lord here this morning. [Opening worship music. Extended third-party song lyrics are omitted.]

  2. 09:00

I'll take Jesus. [music] I'll take Jesus over money. I'll take Jesus over the mammon of the world. I'll take Jesus [music] over this world and all [singing] it has to offer. Most of it [music] stinks in the nostrils of God. But I'll take Jesus. [music] And for all you young people out there, don't let it take you so long [music] to realize the how serious it is [music] to follow Jesus closely and keep sin out of your life. It took me a a long [music] time to break free of addiction. And

  3. 12:00

don't let it take you that long [music] because you can miss out on so many things that the Lord has with sin in your life. You [music] know, the word says that the road that leads to [music] destruction is broad, but the road that leads to life [music] is narrow. And there's nothing like that narrow road. [Brief worship refrain. Third-party song lyrics are omitted.] Say amen. [music] Thank you, Lord. [music] [music] [music] Thank you Lord. [music] Thank you that your word it never returns [music] void. Thank you Lord. It does [singing] what it's sent out to [music] do. And thank [singing] you, Lord, that our ground, the ground of our heart, Lord, let it be [music] good this morning. [music] And we bind the demons and devils that would come to steal the word from our minds when we hear it [music] today. in Jesus name. [singing] We bind you and rebuke you and command you to leave here. [music] Thank you Lord. Lord help [music] us to see what you say in your word Lord. Thank you Lord. [music] Thank you [singing] Jesus. Give us eyes to see. [music] Give us ears to hear. [music] But you have us here. [Extended congregational worship. Third-party song lyrics are omitted; the service continues in prayerful preparation for the sermon.]

  4. 27:00

[music] We give you all the glory. You are worthy of it all, [music] Jesus. You are definitely going to return here pretty soon. [music] God, there's some things stirring out in the world now that are [music] looking pretty ominous. And we just pray you give us strength to stand for [music] you all the way to the end. Whether we lay down our lives for [music] you or we are alive at the very end and caught up to be with you. But Lord, [music] we and we don't care. We just want to be with you. We thank you, Jesus, [music] that you died on that cross for our sins, that you rose from the dead, and that you are our sooncoming king. Can somebody say amen? [music] Hallelujah. Praise the Lord. You may be seated this morning. Go ahead and give the Lord praise. You can do better than that. As Johnny said, [applause] you don't want a nursing home to have more energy than you do, right? We don't want that to happen. Like it is, brother. Called it like it is. I love it. Hallelujah. Well, everybody good this morning? I want everybody to turn I was turning there myself to the Second Epistle of John. We're going to start there at verse 7. I've just entitled this today, the second coming of Jesus Christ. It's real simple. and we're going to look at there's some developments going on in the world. And I'm just going to tell you what I think is looking like it's about to happen. And I've been wondering for a number of years when we would get there. And some people call it World War II, some people call it, you know, I guess you'd say the Gog and Magog war that's coming or you know, cuz there's two of those. or as I call it, the sixth trumpet war. but anyway, I want you to read with me here in the Second Epistle of John. It's just one very short chapter. But in verse 7, he warns this. He says, "For many deceivers are entered into the world who confess not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh." This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Now, that would when you say Jesus Christ, you're talking about Jesus the Messiah, who is God according to Isaiah
