CHAPTER VISUAL

Psalms 83 — A hostile confederacy plots to erase Israel, and Asaph asks that its shame lead people to know the Most High.

About this illustration

Named peoples are suggested through distinct camps without ethnic caricature or modern national symbolism; judgment remains atmospheric.

Scripture basis: Psalms 83:1–18
  1. 1A Song or Psalm of Asaph. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
  2. 2For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
  3. 3They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
  4. 4They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
  5. 5For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
  6. 6The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
  7. 7Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
  8. 8Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
  9. 9Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
  10. 10Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
  11. 11Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
  12. 12Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
  13. 13O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
  14. 14As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
  15. 15So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
  16. 16Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.
  17. 17Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
  18. 18That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

Wars & Rumors of War

Dean Odle connects the restoration of Israel and the escalating wars around it with Psalm 83, Ezekiel 38–39, Revelation 9, and Jeremiah 49. He argues that the return of Jewish people from many nations fulfills the prophets’ promised regathering and establishes the setting for a Russian-led Gog-Magog coalition to attack Israel in the latter years. Reading Revelation’s four angels at the Euphrates alongside modern geography and nuclear weapons, he presents a later conflict capable of killing a third of humanity as a literal future war rather than a purely symbolic event.

Israel, the Dragon & Wings of a Great Eagle

In “Israel, the Dragon & Wings of a Great Eagle,” Pastor Dean Odle presents a Scripture-centered message about Israel in prophecy, the authority of Scripture, Islamic origins and claims. Drawing especially from Daniel 2:6, Revelation 12, Daniel 7, Revelation 13, the teaching emphasizes that the sermon relates Israel’s place in Scripture to the unfolding prophetic picture. Odle connects that foundation with the conviction that Scripture is presented as the standard for doctrine, discernment, and daily obedience.
