Daniel 12 — Trouble gives way to deliverance and resurrection, the wise shine like stars, and Daniel is told to rest until his appointed lot.

About this illustration

The river, sealed words, awakening sleepers, and star-like brightness form a symbolic composite. The numbered periods are not diagrammed, and the guardian presence is kept distant so the image does not prescribe a detailed end-times scheme.

Scripture basis: Daniel 12:1–13
  1. 1And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
  2. 2And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
  3. 3And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
  4. 4But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
  5. 5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.
  6. 6And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
  7. 7And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
  8. 8And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
  9. 9And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
  10. 10Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
  11. 11And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
  12. 12Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
  13. 13But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

Daniel saw a lion with eagle’s wings, then watched as the wings were plucked off. Watchman 33 reads this imagery as Great Britain and the United States separating into distinct nations.

Oh They Perish

In “Oh They Perish,” Pastor Dean Odle reflects on Jesus weeping over Jerusalem and argues that Christians should share Christ’s grief for people who are spiritually lost. Moving through Luke 19, Ecclesiastes 8, and the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16, he stresses judgment, repentance, and the urgency of proclaiming the gospel. Odle criticizes churches that avoid hell, Christ’s exclusivity, biblical authority, and sound doctrine, while calling every believer—not only pastors—to evangelize boldly. Personal testimony, Daniel’s end-time witness, and Paul’s travail for the Galatians support his appeal for compassionate truth-telling, perseverance, and obedience to Jesus Christ.

The Second Coming of Jesus Christ

In The Second Coming of Jesus Christ, Pastor Dean Odle warns against teachings that claim Christ already returned, the millennial reign has already occurred, and believers now live in Satan's 'little season.' He begins with the apostolic command to abide in the doctrine of Christ and to reject deceivers, then reads Matthew 24 as a chronological description of a future, unmistakable, worldwide return. Odle emphasizes that the sun and moon will be darkened, the stars will fall, heaven will be rolled back, the mountains and islands will be removed, every tribe will see Christ, and the elect will be gathered after the tribulation.

The Book of Enoch (Part 4)

In The Book of Enoch (Part 4), Pastor Dean Odle presents Enoch’s visions as an ancient prophetic witness to Jesus Christ—the Elect One, Righteous One, Son of Man, and Anointed One. He compares passages from 1 Enoch 39–62 with Genesis, Hebrews, Isaiah, the Gospels, Paul’s letters, and Revelation. Odle argues that Enoch anticipates Christ’s preexistence, wisdom, saving name, resurrection of the righteous, heavenly dwellings, the defeat of Satan, the judgment of rulers, and the final separation of the righteous from the wicked.
