The Seven Trumpets of Revelation

BRIEF WEBSITE SUMMARY

About this sermon

Dean Odle presents a historicist interpretation of Revelation’s seven trumpets, arguing that the seals, trumpets, and bowls overlap and converge at Christ’s return instead of unfolding as one simple future sequence. He identifies the first five trumpets with World War I, World War II, Chernobyl, the Gulf War’s burning oil wells, and the 2008–2009 financial crisis.

01
Through 07:37

Odle challenges the traditional sequential scheme in which seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven bowls follow one another only during a future tribulation. Reviewing his interpretations of the seals, he argues that the three series begin at different points but terminate together.

02
Through 15:14

Acts 13 and Jesus’ identification of John the Baptist with the promised Elijah illustrate how correct prophecy can be missed through rigid expectations. Odle asks listeners to consider that trumpet judgments may already be visible in history even if their fulfillment differs from familiar charts.

03
Through 22:50

He identifies the Wormwood star of Revelation 8 with the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster, citing the claimed Ukrainian word connection and radioactive contamination across Europe. The local Wormwood Star memorial and the surrounding forest are offered as further confirmations of the interpretation.

04
Through 30:27

Odle answers objections about the extent of poisoned waters and discusses translation disputes over wormwood and mugwort. Reasoning backward chronologically, he identifies the second trumpet with World War II’s unprecedented naval destruction and the atomic “mountain of fire” falling upon Japan.

05
Through 38:04

World War I is linked with hail and fire mingled with blood through artillery, chemical weapons, scorched-earth tactics, destroyed vegetation, and millions of deaths. Odle stresses that Revelation does not explicitly require the devastation to cover the entire planet, allowing the imagery to describe the principal war zone.

06
Through 45:41

He connects the fourth trumpet’s darkened sun, moon, and stars with smoke from Kuwait’s burning oil wells during the Gulf War. Revelation 9’s locusts are interpreted as demonic spirits under Abaddon rather than literal insects or helicopters, preparing his application to an economic judgment.

07
Through 53:18

The 2008 collapse beginning with Lehman Brothers is presented as the fifth trumpet’s locust plague, devouring savings, homes, employment, and confidence. Odle emphasizes that the acute crisis ran from September 2008 to the February 2009 recovery program—approximately five months, matching Revelation’s stated period of torment.

08
Through 1:00:54

Odle expects a devastating war that kills a third of humanity and drives nations toward disarmament and stronger United Nations rule. He relates the four bound angels at the Euphrates to conflict involving Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Russia, and Israel, while declining to predict a date.

09
Through 1:08:31

Revelation 8’s prayers, altar fire, voices, thunder, lightning, and earthquake are read as a prelude to the first trumpet. Odle links nineteenth-century prayer revival and the Welsh Revival to the Azusa Street outpouring of tongues on April 9, 1906, followed by the San Francisco earthquake nine days later.

10
Through 1:16:08

He identifies the seventh trumpet with Paul’s “last trump,” the resurrection of believers, Christ’s return, and the completion of God’s mystery. Comparing the final trumpet and final bowl with Jesus’ teaching about the last day, Odle concludes that the rapture and Second Coming occur together as judgment begins.

You say, Pastor Dean, you're kind of crazy. Yeah, but hey, it takes, you know, how do you become a believer in flat earth and biblical cosmology if you're not willing to change and take a look at the word again and quit going by traditional teachings and say, okay, what does the Bible say? What does it actually say in its context? What does it say? That's just like that thing last night with the four beasts. I can't tell you how many commentaries, Bible scholars, teachers, professors, I heard over the years say the lion is Babylon, the bear is me. I mean, I heard that over and over and over again. And finally, one day I'm reading Daniel seven and it says, these are nations that shall come. And I'm, oh, wait a minute now. And then see, as they say, we got to pay attention to every word. Remember, our problems back in the past was listening, you know, they ingrained in us the ball and then we would read over things like firmament, you know, plain breadth of the earth, not look up words like that. So anyway, are we ready for the lapel mic? It says one, two, check. There we go. All right. Well, we want to welcome everyone. This is session three here. We're going to get into the seven trumpets this morning. Some of you, how many of you have heard me teach this before? You've heard of the seven trumpets. So quite a few of you. Okay. For those of you just coming in, I want to repeat what I said a minute ago that this is something that over the years I've come to strongly believe and look at history and re-look at the word again and again. So for those of you who have heard this, you're about to see, though, some even deeper confirmations that I believe these things have happened. So I'm going to blow your mind this morning because let me give you the traditional view of the seven seals. See, the book of Revelation says there's seven seals, there's seven trumpets, and then there's seven vials of wrath. The traditional view is that the seven-year tribulation, the seventeenth week of Daniel that Pastor Ted spoke about this morning, that that starts and then the seven seals are open in sequential order. Then the seven trumpets are blown in sequential order. And then the vials are in sequential order. May I submit to you that the Bible never ever said that, nor does it teach it anywhere. You cannot find that. Okay. And here's where I can prove to you that these seals and trumpets and vials overlap one another. They don't start at the same time, but they all end at the same time.

  2. 0:03:00

I will prove that to you. Okay. Because let's just look at the seals. I covered five of the seals last night. I covered the white horse that I believe is the world government agenda. That's within the Catholic, the Roman Catholic Church, the Council on Foreign Relations, the United Nations, multiple organizations. That's the white horse going to conquer the world trying to be the Messiah, because remember, Jesus comes back on a white horse. So they're trying to mimic being the savior of the world. Okay. And then a man's going to rise up in the midst of that to lead them. And that's the Antichrist. The red horse, war, communism. We saw that. The black horse, economic, you know, financial manipulation, problems coming with the wheat supply and the food supply and all of that. Then we see the green horse, clearly Islam, controls one quarter of the earth. These are specific details. The fifth seal is the persecution. He said then, many shall kill you. You'll be hated of all nations for my namesake. And it interesting that he talked about the persecution of Christians in the last days increasing around the time that Islam would have its power over one quarter of the earth. Those seals follow each other. But the sixth seal in Revelation chapter 6, the sixth seal says this, the sun goes dark, the moon will not give off her light. We talked about that yesterday, right? See, you say, how's Bible prophecy and Bible cosmology work together? There it is right there. So the sixth seal, Revelation 6, it says the sixth seal, the sun will go dark, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from heaven, the powers of heaven will be shaken. Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man coming. It says he'll roll back the firmament like a scroll. Every eye will see him. In fact, the kings of the earth will mourn. They will say, hide us from the wrath of the Lamb. It's not a secret event. It's not a surprise event. It's going to surprise them, not us. Right? So the sixth seal is the same thing you see in Matthew 24 verses 29 through 31 there when he says, immediately after the tribulation of those days. Somebody say, after. The sun will be darkened, the moon will not give off her light, the stars will fall. Matthew 24 is parallel passage to Revelation 6. It is the sixth seal. The sixth seal is the second coming of Jesus Christ. It is the end. So if it is the end, if the sixth seal in Revelation is the end, it is the second coming of Jesus Christ. Clearly spelled out in Matthew 24, 29 through 32, 31 there. And then Revelation 6, if it's spelled out, how can you have the second coming and then have, oh no, we've got seven trumpets to go. Oh no, we've got seven vitals to go.

  3. 0:06:04

It's impossible. So what I want to submit to you is I believe that you have three stories in the book of Revelation, kind of like we have four Gospels. Each one just a little bit different information, but they're telling the same story. And the seals are the long story. I believe the seals began right after Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead, and they began to unfold. These things are unfolding. They're moving, they've been moving at different times, but they're moving to full fruition. So you see the seals and they end at the second coming. Well, the trumpets started at a different time. I'm going to show you what I believe today. I believe I can confirm it with Scripture and history. But the trumpets started a little bit later, but they tell another story of judgment ending at the second coming of Jesus Christ. I'll prove that to you today. And then the only one, listen, if anybody who doubts me, you just check me, just read the book of Revelation. Anybody I challenge you, show me where it tells you the timeframe of the seals of the trumpet. The only one that we have a timeframe is the seven vials of wrath. We know that they are poured out in the last three and a half years only. That's all we know. All right? So this is what I'm talking about. Listen, I've been in the ministry for 31 years. I've been in the church world longer than that. I've been hearing this, all the teachings. There's not a teaching about the rapture, the 70th week of Daniel. I know pre-wrath view. I've heard all of them, studied all of them, been open to learn from all of them. All right? So what I'm getting at is, I know people are in different places, but I just ask you today, if everybody knew everything, it took me many years of continue to study and pray and learn and be open to change and say, you know, maybe I'm wrong, or maybe some of the traditional teachings are not exactly right. And that's how we... I mean, could we, again, could any of us be flat earthers and biblical cosmology if we weren't willing to go, oh, you know what? I was wrong. I was wrong about some things, right? All right. So let's look at this today. All right? I'm going to try to get through this quick. Bible prophecy sneaks up on you. I want to show you this. Be it known unto you... This is Acts 13, 38 through 41. Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man Jesus is preached unto you forgiveness of sins, and by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. Beware therefore, lest that come upon you which is spoken in the prophets.

  4. 0:09:05

Behold, ye despisers in wonder and perish, for I work a work in your days, a work in which you will in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you. It's going to be declared to you today, believe it or not. Here's something interesting you need to know about Bible prophecy. Think about the prophecies and the scribes and the Pharisees and the Sadducees. They knew the Scriptures, they knew the prophecies of the Messiah coming, yet they missed Him. And they had an idea because they had a preconceived idea of how the prophecies would be fulfilled like the one pertaining to Elijah coming. Remember Malachi 4 says Elijah would come and then the Messiah would come, right? But here, Matthew 17, after the day of the Mount of Transfiguration where Jesus is glorified on the mountain and Moses and Elijah appear with Him, they realize, okay, what's going on here? And it says, as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them saying, tell the vision to no man and tell the Son of Man be risen again from the dead. And His disciples asked Him again saying, why then say the scribes that Elias or Elijah must come first? And Jesus answered and said to them, Elias truly shall come first and restore all things. But I say unto you that Elias has come already, and they knew Him not. He said, but they have done unto Him whatever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of Man suffer of them. Then the disciples understood that He spake unto them of John the Baptist. See, they're looking for the real Elijah. They don't realize is that John the Baptist came in the spirit of Elijah. So God fulfilled His Word. God fulfilled the prophecy of Elijah coming first, but it wasn't the way they thought it was going to happen. And because they were so rigid in their theological belief, even though it was correct, Elijah's coming first. God does things sometimes in a way that He sneaks up on you. And you have to be willing to turn loose of a preconceived idea to accept, you know what? Maybe it's fulfilled already, right? Maybe it's happening. All right, let's keep going. The book of Revelation, I just said that. Seven seals, seven trumpets, seven vials of wrath. I explained to you how they overlap one another. We'll get back to that later. We're going to start today with the third trumpet. There's a reason I'm not going to go in order, because this one to me, I remember in the 1990s here in a rumor about this, and I looked it up and I saw it, but I thought, I don't know why, but at that time I just didn't pursue it any further. And maybe it's because, you know, this was really before the Internet took off, and maybe I just said, you know, back then you had to be old school. You actually had to get in the car, go to a library and start digging, right?
