About this sermon

Dean Odle and Kevin Wilkerson answer Hebrew Roots and Torah-observance arguments by distinguishing the Mosaic covenant from the law of Christ. From Titus, Galatians, Romans, Hebrews, and Acts 15, they argue that justification is by grace through faith, that Jesus fulfilled the sacrificial and priestly order, and that Gentile believers were not commanded to keep the law of Moses, while the new covenant still demands holiness and freedom from habitual works of the flesh.

01
Through 10:21

Odle reviews his years addressing Hebrew Roots teaching and the division he believes its extremes create. He and Wilkerson turn to Titus 3, where Paul joins justification by grace to a warning against foolish questions and strivings about the law.

02
Through 20:43

They reject the claim that release from Mosaic covenant obligations permits sin, pointing to Galatians 5’s works of the flesh and the new covenant’s moral demands. Odle says the schoolmaster led to faith, but believers now live under the law of Christ rather than seeking justification through Moses.

03
Through 31:04

Matthew 5’s word ‘fulfill’ is explained as completing and bringing the law’s purpose to fullness, especially its sacrifices. Jesus’ blood, Passover fulfillment, and Melchizedek priesthood are said to make renewed animal offerings and Levitical mediation unnecessary.

04
Through 41:26

Romans 8 and Galatians 2 support the claim that those in Christ are justified through faith and walk after the Spirit, not through works of the law. Odle also calls Jesus the believer’s Sabbath rest and insists that grace produces obedience rather than indulgence of the flesh.

05
Through 51:47

The Jerusalem council is presented as an explicit refusal to require Gentiles to be circumcised and keep Moses’ law. After a break, the discussion shifts to claims that Jesus is only the literal right hand of God, which Odle calls a misuse of biblical figures such as Lamb, Door, and Vine.

06
Through 1:02:08

The speakers argue that reducing Jesus to one bodily part denies His full deity and that treating the Holy Spirit as only the Father’s breath similarly diminishes Him. A meme pitting Moses against Jesus is used to accuse parts of the movement of exalting Mosaic law above the Son whom Moses would worship.

07
Through 1:12:30

First Thessalonians 5:23 introduces the distinction among human spirit, soul, and body. Odle uses that threefold human constitution as an analogy for unity with real distinction, while explaining the spirit as life from God and the soul as personal mind, will, and emotion.

08
Through 1:22:51

The analogy is extended through death and resurrection: body returns to dust while spirit and soul continue, and redemption ultimately makes the whole person complete. Odle compares that unity to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, while acknowledging that an analogy cannot exhaust God’s nature.

09
Through 1:33:13

The speakers confess one God rather than three gods, yet insist that Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct and fully divine. They reject modalism, exalt the name of Jesus above every name, and identify Jesus as God manifested in flesh.

10
Through 1:43:34

The conclusion links correct Christology with New Testament ministry, arguing that Jesus commissioned believers to heal, cast out demons, and work by the Spirit’s gifts. Odle challenges Torah-focused teachers to move beyond arguments over Mosaic law and demonstrate the truth by Spirit-empowered works that glorify Jesus.

messianic movement to the whether you want to call it Hebrew roots he break roots or the Torah observe it move however you want to put it I saw things I was involved in going to Shabbat services in Birmingham you know nearly every Friday night one of my best friends studied under Joseph good and chosen people's ministries with dr. Ben Alpert and all this stuff so I've been around it I've seen it I've seen the good and I've seen the bad and I've seen the ugly and lately I'm gonna tell you I've seen more ugly than I've seen good but I do know that the Holy Spirit is on and what I want to say if this again if this is your first time you saw the title and you know you know I want to hear what he has to say tonight's not gonna be a night I'm gonna go back and rehash everything that we've covered over the different shows and and sermons that I've done in church you can go back and look go all the way back to April there's one about the he break roots Flat Earth and and the division that I saw coming because of this the extremes within the Torah movement and the Hebrew roots movement and so anyway that was a beginning and then I did one two-hour show on blog talk is only audio because before we really started video and everything but it was back in April or May and that was about a two-hour it was a two-hour show I went through the entire book of Galatians in great detail and other passages as well and it's talked about all of this and then did another video did another two hours on it and so anyway and then recently I did two messages one called the New Testament church and the Sabbath question and then of course the schoolmaster the bond woman and the dead husband was you know again there's just those two sermons were about four hours of teaching in the scriptures through the context of New Testament and and so anyway tonight is not a night to rehash all that I am going to touch on some things again but I really do want to touch on the issue of the Trinity the triune nature of God the deity of Jesus Christ maybe a little different than what you've heard but but I want to I want it to be clear because I'm seeing all kind of craziness out there about you know the the Godhead who Jesus is and it's amazing within the Torah and then this is what disturbed me one of the things that disturbed me in the beginning of looking at the Torah observant movement is that how many of them were not only diminishing things in the New Testament didn't diminishing the writings of Paul even calling the New Testament commentary one of their leaders called it the so-called New Testament I mean we're talking about

some just terrible stuff that I was hearing but well even worse is the denial of Jesus as the fullness of the Godhead bodily Jesus as God in the flesh and we we even though I've touched on that even in the recent months I did a message the triune nature of God I did another one entitled God with us so again these are subjects that I have been covering because they are the foundations of Christianity just like the issue of creation and God being our Creator and the Bible being the inspired word of of God the God breathed scriptures that we have here I'm always going to contend for the faith which was once delivered to the Saints I'm going to contend for the foundations of Christianity and that's why I posted I have I've got an entire you know Facebook page dedicated to bash me on a regular basis but I posted you know just yesterday I think it was that I'm not out to be a social media superstar I'm not out to be a flat earth superstar I'm out to and I'm set as Paul said in Philippians I am set for the defense of the gospel and I know that I tick a lot of people off and and I make a lot of people upset or uncomfortable especially if they adhere to some of these you know fringe movements and strange doctrines and you know they've left they've left traditional doctrinal biblical Christianity for these different movements and fads and things that have come and gone but there's there's certain foundations within Christianity that we don't need to move away from and so so I want to talk about some of those things but we'll get into that and also want to talk about the power of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit and and that the Church of Jesus Christ should have signs wonders miracles the power of Jesus flowing I know that there's been some mockery of that there's always oh they love to quote you know Matthew 7 and say oh have we not cast out demons in thy name and in my name done with you but you're lawless and I mean I hear that all the time but I'm gonna tell you what you can call me lawless but I'll call you powerless because it's time we you know you want to talk about walking is Jesus walk Jesus cast out demons heal the sick cleanse the lepers raise the dead the crippled walk to death here the blind would see I think that is far more important than trying to keep every jot and tittle of the Old Testament law but we'll get into that too tonight but I want to start tonight in the book of Titus and in the Apostle Paul giving Holy Ghost inspired instruction to a young pastor who really would give an authority to be over a host of churches and so he tells Titus here and we're gonna read from chapter 3 verse 1 through verse 11 here and I want to read this and and again he really again reiterates justification by faith

through God's grace and he says something about the constant strivings over the law and that's why tonight look I'm not I'm not gonna continue to strive and go back and forth with these people because I've had a fun time the last few days just banning and blocking you know the Torah radicals from my from my Facebook page and and because I'm only going to give you know truth and correction and sound biblical instruction and context of the covenant where to walk in the new covenant not the old covenant and give context I don't have to revert to name-calling telling people they're clueless telling people they're ignorant telling people that you know as I have been man you want to talk about Kevin I have been just some I've been burned in effigy my brother I have been skewered I have been excommunicated spiritually I've quit following a lot of them too I've been blocking stuff and I'm just not gonna sit there and watch and and let my blood pressure be affected by this mess anymore either brother well and that's and that's what let's let's read this in Titus because that's what Titus says finally Paul's it gives instruction to him so let's read this and I want to back up and read from chapter of in I mean from verse one before we get into the end of it because so you just have context so here's Paul's instructions through the Holy Spirit through him rather to Titus he says put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers and to obey magistrates and to be ready to every good work so you talking about being submissive to the authorities of course as much as we possibly can be and then he says to speak evil of no man to be no brawlers but be gentle showing all meatness unto all men for we ourselves also were sometimes foolish disobedient deceived serving divers lust and pleasures living in malice and envy and hateful and hating one another but after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to his mercy he saved us by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior that being justified by his grace we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life this is a faithful saying and these things I will that thou affirm constantly and that they have they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works these things are good and profitable and demand but avoid foolish questions and genealogies and contentions and striving about the law for they are unprofitable and vain a man that is a heretic after the first and second
