The Rejected One
About this sermon
Pastor Dean Odle presents Jesus Christ as the prophesied cornerstone whom human beings and world systems repeatedly reject. Beginning with Isaiah's promises that the Son is the mighty God and with the stone imagery of Isaiah 28, Matthew 21, Daniel 2, Matthew 16, and 1 Peter 2, he argues that the identity of Jesus is the foundation of biblical faith: God manifested in the flesh, crucified, risen, and the only Savior. Every person must either fall upon this Rock in repentance and surrender or ultimately face His judgment.

The service opens with extended worship and prayer for healing, salvation, and the present work of the Holy Spirit.
Odle contrasts biblical Christology with religious systems that redefine Jesus. Isaiah's prophecy identifies the promised Son as mighty God and everlasting Father.
Jesus' parable of the vineyard and His quotation about the rejected stone become the message's controlling image. Rejection of the Son brings a transfer of stewardship and eventual judgment.
Peter's confession that Jesus is the Christ and Son of God is presented as the revealed foundation of the church, not Peter as an institutional successor.
Odle applies biblical prophecy to modern ideological, religious, and technological developments. His political identifications and predictions are the speaker's disputed interpretations.
Revelation 17 is used to describe rulers yielding authority to the beast and ultimately making war against Christ. The sermon emphasizes that the Lamb will overcome.
Odle warns of increasing pressure on Jews and true Christians but insists that Christ's church cannot be fully destroyed. The rejected stone remains the secure refuge.
The conclusion turns directly to repentance. Hearers are urged to fall upon Christ in humility, reject lukewarm profession, and surrender every burden, tradition, and plan to His lordship.
