The Pre-Trib Rapture Myth
About this sermon
In “The Pre-Trib Rapture Myth,” Pastor Dean Odle presents a Scripture-centered message about the resurrection, faith, the authority of Scripture. Drawing especially from Ephesians 5, 1 Thessalonians 5, Revelation 20, Hebrews 6, the teaching emphasizes that Christ’s resurrection establishes the believer’s hope and the certainty of God’s final victory. Odle connects that foundation with the conviction that biblical faith trusts God’s character and acts upon His promises.

i met with a baptist pastor that came to our conference he came to our end times conference i think he just came to the saturday meetings but he wanted to meet with me this this week and and you know what i liked about him was he was like you know i want to learn i i you know and he's he's got this mentality i you know what if i'm wrong and he's open to listen to other people and i listen to him and he gave me some books and i gave him some stuff and we're looking i was reading through the book he gave me last night so um but even before i had that meeting and we left friends we discussed once saved always saved and of course disagreed on that we discussed the pre-trib rapture and we disagreed on that and we discussed a number of things but it was in a peaceful you know i want to hear what you have to say and you know it was it was that's the way the body of christ should be we shouldn't be so locked in on things that we can't listen to one another uh you know so so anyway but even before i had this meeting with the pat that pastor this has nothing to do with with him while i'm about to teach on what i'm about to teach on but um i just felt like that since i've learned a little bit more since about a year ago when i preached on this and since some of you were not here then then i might need to cover this again and clarify it a little bit more because i think god's revealed some things to me even this morning that i did not know about the subject so what we're going to cover this morning is the the issue of the rapture or the resurrection and this is you know this is a a foundational doctrine in the church we need to understand that the resurrection of the dead is a foundational doctrine of christianity if jesus and paul made it clear he said if jesus didn't rise from the dead then we are still in our sins that's how important the resurrection is and understanding that if we don't believe that jesus not only died for our sins but rose from the dead if we don't believe that then we're not born again christians we're not true christians we have left the fundamentals of the faith but the reason one of the reasons that jesus rose from the dead was to show us that one day everyone is going to be resurrected some to everlasting life in heaven and some to eternal punishment in hell so everyone's going to be resurrected everyone's going to get their body back everyone who's died been cremated everyone's going to get it back and i want to show you where this is one of the foundational doctrines of jesus the resurrection of the dead so i want you to go with me first to the book of hebrews hebrews chapter six hebrews chapter six i'm calling the message this morning the pre-tribulation rapture myth

you know myths are fun to believe are fun to tell the story but that doesn't mean they're true right they're exciting they have their points but a myth is one thing and the truth is another where did i tell you to turn hebrews chapter 6. all right let's read this starting in verse one these he talks about these these are foundational if you wanna know the foundational doctrines of christianity here they are okay apart from the you know and again this doesn't address the part that we believe number one that the bible is the inspired word of god from genesis to revelation number two that jesus christ is god and the son of god and the only way to heaven all right so those are the givens right but then he talks about things that that we are to be established in as believers let's look at this [Music] well matter of fact let's back up into verse five and this is what he has to tell these hebrew christians he says this to these jewish christians verse 12 he's or verse 11. he says in verse 5 of whom we have many things to say and hard to be uttered seeing your dull of hearing for when the times come are for when the time you ought to be teachers you have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of god and become such as have need of milk and not of strong meat for everyone that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness for he is obey but strong meat belongs to them that are of full age even to those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil so i'm not going to stay on that but then he goes on and see remember when this was originally written there weren't chapter breaks so he goes straight he's therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of christ and what he's saying is we need to get the basics down and move on right but most of christianity doesn't do that but he says leaving the principles of the doctrine of christ let us go on to perfection or to maturity not laying again the foundation and here he starts in the the foundational doctrines he says repentance from dead works say this with me repentance is foundational teaching foundational doctrine to christianity if there's no repentance there's no forgiveness all right and i've taught on that before but this is one of them right here then the next one he says and of faith toward god right how many of you know just changing your ways doesn't save you alone you have to repent and what believe trust rely on cling to that whole definition of having faith in god right so faith in god and our lord jesus christ that's how

we say that's where you start right there right then he says this and i love this of the doctrine of baptism plural meaning it's not just water baptism there's another baptism the baptism of the holy spirit with the gift of speaking in other tongues there's the baptism of fire there's the baptism in water actually three baptism actually you could actually say there's a fourth one because paul talked about being baptized into the body of christ but he might mean that once you're baptized in water and baptized in the spirit and baptized in the fire you're baptized into the body so i think that probably includes that i kind of like it because you know the bible says there's one lord one faith and one baptism right but in the one lord three parts amen so i think the one baptism is also three parts this scripture here is plural baptisms so we should have the foundation you need to be baptized in water if you're a believer and you've been born again and you've never been baptized you need to be baptized in water that's to obey the lord and i believe that something spiritual takes place there as well it's not just a it's not just an ordinance of the church okay and then of course you know i believe you need to be baptized or filled with the holy spirit and and with the evidence of speaking in other tongues because we are pentecostal around here amen so these are things you should grow in then he goes on he said in the doctrine of baptisms and of laying on of hands the doctrine of laying on them hands is very important laying on hands for prayer to heal the sick laying on of hands actually to administer the baptism of the holy spirit laying on of hands to impart gifts there's many reasons for the doctrine of laying on of hands and it's taught throughout the bible i'm not going to get into all that but it is one of the foundational doctrines and then he says and of the resurrection of the dead and of eternal judgment so the resurrection of the dead needs to be taught in the church what is going to happen at the resurrection now you can write this down in your notes if you're writing notes this morning okay there are two resurrections and only two okay now if someone dies now and somebody like me or you or one of us has enough faith and we decide or feel led by god that we're to go pray for them and raise them from the dead that can happen and that does happen in the body of christ it's happened in many ministries that can happen but that doesn't mean that it's the two resurrections i'm talking about okay there could be many people raised from the dead david hogan's ministry down in mexico they've had hundreds of people raised from the debt smith wigglesworth the one of the great pentecostal ministers of healing had at least 20 something people raised from the dead documented in his ministry so the resurrection of the dead can happen as a miracle but the two
