About this sermon

In “Leaving the House of Micah,” Pastor Dean Odle develops a Scripture-centered message moving through prayer and the state of the church, micah’s self-made religion, silent watchmen and missing truth, money, celebrity, and ministry. The sermon follows the speaker’s argument chronologically, grounding its principal appeals in biblical passages and practical ministry examples.

Chronological teaching outline

Select a section heading to play the sermon from that moment.

01
Through 11:44

Opening worship and exhortation ask whether believers possess God’s peace and know they are walking in His will. The appeal asks hearers to measure their response by that biblical priority.

02
Through 23:27

Odle prays for the Holy Spirit. The speaker introduces a warning about churches that retain religious form while resisting Christ’s rule.

03
Through 35:10

Judges 17–18 becomes a picture of worship constructed according to human preference, with Micah’s idols and hired priest replacing obedience. This portion explicitly uses Judges 17 and Matthew 7 in developing that point.

04
Through 46:54

The sermon criticizes leaders who omit repentance, the cross, judgment, and costly discipleship even when their public teaching sounds positive. This portion explicitly uses John 10 and Isaiah 56 in developing that point.

05
Through 58:38

Odle alleges that prosperity and celebrity culture turn ministry into a career and train congregations to measure success by wealth and scale. This portion explicitly uses Mark 10 in developing that point.

06
Through 1:10:21

Jesus’ warnings about riches frame a choice between trusting Christ fully and allowing money, profession, or security to govern obedience. This portion explicitly uses Luke 9, John 10 and Romans 8 in developing that point.

07
Through 1:22:04

Moses and other biblical examples show that doing God’s will may require surrendering status, pleasure, and material advantage. This portion explicitly uses Matthew 7 and 1 John 2 in developing that point.

08
Through 1:33:48

Odle presents discipleship as dying to the carnal will and following Jesus even when obedience is painful or unpopular. The speaker applies the point to the choices believers make under pressure.

09
Through 1:45:32

The message warns that professing Christians are accountable to obey the gospel and must not become offended by plain Scripture. This portion explicitly uses Romans 13 and John 16 in developing that point.

10
Through 1:57:15

The conclusion calls listeners to leave compromised religious systems, seek the Holy Spirit, and worship Christ with undivided loyalty. This part of the message turns the doctrine into a question of loyalty and daily conduct.

He's ever passed me you got all these difficulties going on in your life and battles going. Yes, absolutely But do I have the peace of God? Do I know that I'm absolutely in the will of God for my life? Absolutely. Do I always pray and ask him? What's next Lord? What's next and you know what I found? It's always he's always gonna stretch me out of my comfort zone Always if you're comfortable You probably in trouble. Let's do this one again, and I want us to really think about the word. This is a beautiful song I don't even know who this dude is, but It's a great song. I mean he may be completely off-base who knows anymore But yeah, this song is a word from the Lord. Amen So let's worship one more time and then we'll get in the word. We're not in a hurry I know Facebook may silence this video. Who cares? We're gonna worship the Lord as we see fit. Amen. All right, let's do it

It's been very good we just and that's one of those things the Holy Spirit when You guys were at the skyfall back in last year in 2023 and we're talking outside I just felt the Holy Spirit come on me and say hey We need to do something up there and we'll just pray about it and see what God wants to do And it's being it's been good But we're gonna get into the word this morning, so I hope you have your Bibles and I hope you're ready to roll

This is I guess this is kind of part three This is part three of It's kind of weird. I guess you know when the Lord spoke to me a few weeks ago, and he said come out of her my people It's turned into a little bit more Of course last week was the congregation of the dead and the week before that was the Roman Catholic whore of Babylon And I'm gonna deal more that in fact just let y'all know I've been doing a much deeper dive into church history and Roman Catholic history and Jesuit history and I'm probably God willing in the creek don't rise as we say in Alabama God willing I'm gonna do a series on True churches where the Bible came from we need to know that how it was preserved how the Roman Catholic Church has fought The true scriptures from day one how they've killed Christians and burned them at the stake for years over the Bible We're gonna talk about that and then there's a lot of people think that the Roman Catholic Church has changed it has not changed But we'll get into that in the days ahead Today I've kind of I guess I've entitled this leaving the house of Micah Leaving the house of Mikey's and what is the house of Micah? We're gonna find out and this is even though it has gonna have a broad application of kind of the condition of the church world it's also a personal word and it's a personal word of The only thing that's gonna make us any different than the dead lukewarm backslidden Church world it's pretty much dominating the West right now most of the world the only thing that makes us any different The only thing that's gonna bring the anointing of the Holy Spirit and the power of God on her life is what I was sharing A minute ago, and that is people who are totally surrendered to the will of God Totally surrendered to be led by the Holy Spirit unafraid Unafraid to say whatever the Lord wants you to say unafraid to go where he wants you to go unafraid to do what he wants you to do That's it unafraid and also never letting money Become the issue that causes us to make our decisions money or the lack thereof You know Jesus said this in fact go ahead and put this verse up. This is Matthew 6 24 You're gonna see why I'm saying this today Because I'm gonna tell you right now the idol in most churches and the idol in most people's lives is money And it's not just rich people But Christian people now it takes money to do things and this is not a sermon on giving I know it takes money to do things
