Breaking Free #1: Spiritual Warfare 101

BRIEF WEBSITE SUMMARY

About this sermon

The opening session of “Breaking Free” lays out Pastor Dean Odle’s basic framework for spiritual warfare. After worship and an appeal to faith, he tells believers that Jesus’ name gives authority over demonic oppression and that Christians should expect to minister healing and deliverance rather than remain passive. He distinguishes fallen angelic rulers from the evil spirits he identifies with the dead giants of Genesis, presenting both as parts of the hostile hierarchy described in Ephesians 6.

01
Through 09:05

The opening portion remains in worship and prayer as Odle asks the Holy Spirit to bring freedom and receive glory. The extended worship establishes dependence on God before any instruction about confronting spiritual powers.

02
Through 18:10

As worship continues, Odle calls attendees to believe God before they see healing or freedom. He says kingdom ministry operates by faith in God’s word and Christ’s authority, not confidence in a particular minister.

03
Through 27:15

Odle identifies infirmity and demonic strongholds as targets of the weekend’s prayer. A final song and practical transition prepare the gathering to move from worship into the basic teaching on deliverance.

04
Through 36:20

A recording of a 1989 prophecy about Odle’s teaching ministry introduces the school’s purpose. He shifts the focus from his calling to the listeners’ responsibility to become ministers who preach, heal, and cast out demons.

05
Through 45:25

Ephesians 6 supplies the premise that Christians wrestle against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual wickedness. Odle begins distinguishing high-ranking fallen angels from the evil spirits he associates with dead giants.

06
Through 54:30

Passages about imprisoned angels and Revelation’s abyss develop Odle’s disputed hierarchy of evil beings. First Peter 5 then turns the lesson toward watchfulness and active resistance rather than fascination with the hierarchy.

07
Through 1:03:35

Odle joins resistance to submission, repentance, and belonging to Christ. He argues that faith and obedience close enemy access and prepare believers to use Jesus’ name with real covenant authority.

08
Through 1:12:40

Acts 19 contrasts Paul’s Spirit-empowered ministry with men who invoke “Jesus whom Paul preaches.” Odle uses their defeat and his own ministry examples to warn against borrowed formulas, disorder, and unprepared attempts at deliverance. Genuine authority flows from belonging to Christ.

09
Through 1:21:45

Odle interprets taking up serpents as authority to seize and neutralize demonic attacks, not a call to reckless snake handling. Binding is pictured as suspending an enemy’s ability to strike.

10
Through 1:30:50

From Matthew 16 and 18, Odle presents binding and loosing as kingdom keys that must actually be used. He closes in prayer for believers to become persistent fighters who restrain evil and help captives go free.

    Thank you, Jesus. Praise Him.

  2. 0:14:13

Welcome you here today. Holy Spirit, we need you right now. Lord, we just, I pray for freedom in this place to worship you, give you glory, Lord, to have our hearts, Lord Jesus.

  3. 0:23:58

We're gonna do one more song. But I just wanna say this today, as Hannah was finishing that, and she is definitely anointed to do that. The anointing is here. The presence of the Lord is here. And I just wanna encourage you to believe, everything in the kingdom of God operates by faith. And faith means you believe it before you see it. I mean, you totally believe it before you see it. I just wanna say that today and tomorrow, many of you that came in here with heaviness and demonic strongholds and maybe some issues and even some physical infirmities, the Lord began to tell me over there, there's gonna be some folks get healed today. They're gonna get healed. All right. The spirit of infirmity is gonna leave this place this weekend, amen. It's one of those spirits we're gonna get rid of this weekend. The spirit of infirmity is one of them. But you have to believe it. You have to believe it not because it's me. I am nothing. But in the name of Jesus, we have authority. And when we do what the word of God says to do, when we believe it and act upon it, God moves, God works. And that's all you have to know is that when I believe God's word and act upon it in faith, things will change. If you doubt they will change, guess what? They will not change. You have to believe when you bind the demons and command them to leave in the name of Jesus, you have to believe that they have to go. You understand? They cannot stay. Cannot stay. When we resist the devil, he must flee from us. Amen, and he will today, I'm telling you. He will, but we have so many new people here today and we're gonna have new people watching and everything. We are going to cover some of the basics and we're gonna get into some of the deeper stuff. Like I said, some children might have to walk out because we're gonna have to deal with some things. But let's do this song and then we'll get started in the teaching on deliverance. All right. On the road that bridges lift burning. A lot of dead and learning. I don't wanna cause I built a trap out of the way I'm living. I don't wanna be a prisoner. I don't wanna be a prince.

  4. 0:29:33

All right, go ahead and praise the Lord. Y'all pray against this crazy demon that's trying to mess with our sound equipment here this morning. I wanna play something for you because, and you can be seated this morning. We're gonna get into the word now, but I'm gonna share something. I wanna share, I did this with our students in our graduations last three years. We're going into the fourth year of the School of Ministry. And so we couldn't find it, but I have it on my phone. So I'm gonna play it on my phone here. But this is a prophecy over me in November of 1989. 1989, November 19th, 1989. Let's see if you can hear it. Hallelujah. Lord, I thank you for this brother. And I thank you for the commitment. You know, brother, this is what I see. I see you before God. And I see you kneeling there before the Lord in an absolute contrition, absolute dedication unto Him, just putting your life there, saying, God, it's yours. And God's taking you up on it. God's placed a calling up in your life. God's gonna have you teach. There's a teaching anointing that's going to come upon you that will be very powerful in the body of Christ. God says a teacher in my fivefold ministry, you will be the cause of the things that I'm stirring inside of you. This is not a day of release, but this is a day of preparation for you. But there'll be a day of release when I will launch you and I'll push you forth, says the Lord. And you will walk forth in my anointing and my power. And you shall teach, but there shall not be the things that all would expect, but they will be the things of God that will set the captives free and liberate my body to be what I've called it to be. For you will train many others that will go forth and they too shall teach. And they shall break the strongholds of the enemy by that taught word, says the Lord. Hallelujah. Now think about that. 1989, folks, go ahead and give the Lord praise there. I can tell you right now, and I just feel it very strongly that many of you are called to go forth and set the captives free. You hear me? It's not about me. It's not about Fire and Grace Church. It's not just about us. It's about you becoming the ministers of Jesus Christ you're supposed to be. And ministers of Jesus Christ not only preach the Gospel, call people to repentance and faith in Jesus,
