The World You Live In: The Brainwashed (Part 4)

In The Brainwashed, Part 4 of The World You Live In, Pastor Dean Odle warns that religious familiarity and information are not the same as knowing God. He compares modern church confidence with Corinthian immaturity, repeats Jesus' warnings in Matthew 24 about end-time deception, and uses Hosea 4 to argue that people are destroyed for lack of knowledge even while believing themselves informed.

The World You Live In (Part 3)

Pastor Dean Odle opens Part 3 with worship and prayer before returning to the series' central warning: Scripture says deception will intensify, and believers must continue in the Word rather than follow culturally accepted fables. Using 2 Timothy 3-4, 2 Peter 1, Revelation 12, and Romans 1, he argues that Satan deceives the whole world through human systems and that professed wisdom can become foolishness when creation truth is suppressed.

The World You Live In (Part 2)

In Part 2 of The World You Live In, Pastor Dean Odle continues his argument that Christians should test inherited descriptions of creation against Scripture rather than accept institutional consensus as final authority. Beginning with worship and prayer, he develops a reconstruction or gap reading of Genesis 1:1-2, connects the earth becoming "without form, and void" with prophetic language in Jeremiah and Isaiah, and treats Satan's fall as part of the background to the ruined condition he sees before the six days of ordering.

The Heart of Mankind - Part 6: Pride

Pastor Dean Odle presents pride as a foundational corruption of the human heart: self-exaltation that resists truth, correction, dependence, and humble obedience to God. Jeremiah 17 again supplies the series’ controlling diagnosis, while Proverbs, Obadiah, Isaiah 14, and Ezekiel 28 trace pride’s deception and its association with Satan’s fall. Spiritual gifts, knowledge, success, and ministry activity can themselves become occasions for boasting if love and humility are absent.

The Heart of Mankind - Part 5: The Depraved Heart

Pastor Dean Odle examines the depraved heart through the love of money, covetousness, pleasure, and self-preservation. First Timothy 6 anchors the teaching: the desire to be rich exposes people to temptation, snares, and destructive lusts, while the love of money causes many to err from the faith. Second Timothy 3 broadens the warning to a culture of self-love, covetousness, pride, brutality, and pleasure without true godliness.

The Heart of Mankind - Part 4: The Pure Heart

In this fourth message, Pastor Dean Odle defines a pure heart as one unmixed with cherished falsehood, hypocrisy, deceit, or divided allegiance. Hebrews 12 and Matthew 5 frame the urgency: holiness is necessary to see the Lord, and the pure in heart are blessed because they shall see God. The sermon repeatedly connects purity with truthful speech, sincere love, a good conscience, genuine faith, and diligent guardianship of the inner life.

The Heart of Mankind - Part 3: The Hardened Heart

Pastor Dean Odle warns that Christians can gradually harden their hearts through hidden sin, unbelief, rationalization, and refusal to hear God’s voice. Beginning with Jeremiah 17 and Ezekiel 8, he emphasizes that God sees what is concealed within the heart. Hebrews 3 then supplies the central warning: people addressed as holy brethren must take heed lest sin’s deceitfulness harden them and lead them away from the living God.

The Heart of Mankind - Part 2: The Idol of Self

The sermon identifies the “idol of self” as a hidden allegiance that seeks recognition, position, comfort, and control even within Christian service. Pastor Dean Odle begins with Jeremiah’s warning that the heart is deceitful, then traces how envy, vainglory, ambition, resentment, and resistance to spiritual authority reveal self-seeking motives. Biblical examples—from Israel’s dissatisfaction to the envy behind Joseph’s betrayal and Christ’s condemnation—show that giftedness and religious activity do not automatically produce a humble heart.

The Heart of Mankind

In The Heart of Mankind, Pastor Dean Odle challenges the cultural command to “follow your heart.” From Jeremiah 17:9, he argues that the fallen human heart is deceitful and cannot safely serve as its own moral guide. The sermon traces the biblical meanings of heart, soul, mind, and spirit, stressing that sanctification involves bringing thoughts, desires, memory, and will under the Word and Spirit of God.
