DOCTRINE AND DISCERNMENT SERMONS

Biblical doctrine, theological testing, apologetics, and spiritual discernment.

Loving Jesus

In “Loving Jesus,” Pastor Dean Odle uses Peter’s failure, restoration, and final testimony to ask what genuine love for Christ looks like in practice. Beginning with submission to God and resistance to the devil, he follows Peter from confident promises before the crucifixion to Jesus’ repeated question, “Lovest thou me?” and the command to feed Christ’s sheep. The sermon argues that love for Jesus cannot be reduced to emotion or religious language; it is shown through obedience, repentance, service, endurance, and a refusal to let the world displace devotion to Christ.

The Firmament Revisited

In The Firmament Revisited, Pastor Dean Odle offers an extended defense of his biblical-cosmology reading of the firmament as a real, strong structure created by God to divide waters above from waters below. Working through Genesis 1, Psalm 19, Job 37, Ezekiel 1, Exodus 24, Isaiah 40, and related passages, he argues that Scripture presents the firmament as part of God’s handiwork and glory rather than an empty expanse.

Blind Oblivious Sheep

In “Blind Oblivious Sheep,” Pastor Dean Odle warns that professing Christians can remain spiritually blind when they neglect Scripture, refuse the fear of the Lord, or settle into lukewarm religion. Using Jesus’ charge to Peter to feed His sheep, 1 Corinthians 4, Ephesians 4, and 1 Peter 2, Odle describes ministers as stewards responsible to provide the whole counsel of God while believers must actively desire the milk and meat of the Word.

The Church of NASA

In The Church of NASA, Pastor Dean Odle contrasts trust in Scripture with what he describes as an institutional faith in modern space agencies and heliocentric cosmology. He begins with the conspiracy surrounding attempts to suppress testimony of Christ’s resurrection, then argues that powerful institutions can coordinate false narratives and that Christians must test widely accepted claims by the written Word.

Faith

Pastor Dean Odle’s “Faith” defines biblical faith as trust generated and governed by the written Word of God. Hebrews 11:6 and Romans 10:17 anchor the teaching: faith is indispensable, but it does not arise from imagination, institutions, cultural consensus, or impressive signs. From the Emmaus road in Luke 24, Odle argues that Jesus answered unbelief by opening Moses and the prophets, establishing Scripture as the foundation for recognizing Christ and discerning truth.

Rekindle the Fire

In “Rekindle the Fire,” Pastor Dean Odle calls weary believers to receive fresh strength from the Holy Spirit rather than allow trials, fear, or restrictive teaching to quench spiritual life. Beginning with 1 Peter 4’s “fiery trial,” he acknowledges suffering and end-time pressure but insists that hardship should drive Christians first toward God. Prayer, worship, Scripture, and dependence on the Spirit are presented as the means by which faith is built up and love for Christ is renewed.

Few Things are as they Appear

In “Few Things Are as They Appear,” Pastor Dean Odle urges believers to distrust prideful first impressions and seek discernment from God. Romans 12:3 and 1 Corinthians 8:2 warn against thinking too highly of oneself or assuming complete knowledge. Through Acts 16 and ministry experiences, Odle argues that apparently religious people, opportunities, and messages may conceal manipulation, false doctrine, predatory intent, or spiritual danger.

The Secret to the Favor of God

Pastor Dean Odle's “secret” to God's favor is deliberately simple: humility expressed through courageous obedience. Using Israel's refusal to enter Canaan in Numbers 13-14, he contrasts Joshua and Caleb's confidence in God's promise with the majority's fear, unbelief, and rebellion. God does not remove every giant or stronghold beforehand; He calls His people to become co-laborers who pray, obey, fight, and grow in faith while depending on His grace.

The World You Live In: The Days of Noah (Part 5)

In Part 5, The Days of Noah, Pastor Dean Odle frames contemporary UFO and alien-disclosure narratives as a potential end-time deception rather than evidence of extraterrestrial life. From Luke 21, Matthew 24, Genesis 6, and Luke 17, he connects fearful sights, lying signs, the days of Noah, fallen angels, the Nephilim, escalating violence, and ordinary life continuing immediately before judgment. He argues that the biblical category for the reported phenomena is demonic rather than interplanetary.
