APOSTASY AND DECEPTION SERMONS

Falling away, false teaching, counterfeit faith, and spiritual deception.

February 18, 2024Dean Odle

Knowing Your Adversary

Dean Odle presents Satan as a subtle adversary who works through temptation, distorted Scripture, false doctrine, counterfeit spiritual experiences, and ungoverned thoughts. Beginning with the believer’s authority in Jesus and the armor of God, he argues that Christians must acknowledge spiritual conflict without becoming fascinated by it. Ephesians 6 frames the battle as a struggle against principalities rather than flesh and blood, while Jesus’ temptation in Matthew 4 shows that the devil may quote a true biblical text with a false application. Regular Scripture reading and prayer are therefore presented as essential defenses.

Flat Earth or Round Earth -

Host Mike Zwick interviews Pastor Dean Odle about biblical cosmology and Odle’s conclusion that Scripture describes a stationary, enclosed earth rather than the modern heliocentric model. Odle recounts his gradual change of view, argues that Genesis 1 should control Christian cosmology, and says that accepting secular accounts of origins has weakened confidence in the Bible. The interview is presented as advocacy for Odle’s position, not as an independent scientific assessment.

Emmanuel, Salvation & Torah Deceivers

In “Emmanuel, Salvation & Torah Deceivers,” Pastor Dean Odle defends the deity of Jesus Christ and salvation by grace through faith against Torah-observant teachings that he believes diminish Christ or make Mosaic-law keeping necessary for right standing with God. He traces the meaning of Emmanuel—God with us—through prophecy and the New Testament, emphasizing that Jesus is not merely a human Messiah but God manifested in the flesh.

Corrupted from Simplicity

“Corrupted from Simplicity” is Pastor Dean Odle’s appeal for single-minded devotion to Jesus Christ amid increasing religious deception. From Paul’s warning in Second Corinthians 11, Odle argues that Satan’s subtle strategy is to move believers away from the sufficiency of Christ—his incarnation, cross, resurrection, forgiveness, righteousness, and New Covenant—toward complicated systems, speculative research, or religious practices that diminish joy in the gospel.

Contentions & Strivings about the Law

In “Contentions & Strivings about the Law,” Pastor Dean Odle responds to controversy surrounding his criticism of Hebrew Roots and Torah-observant teaching. He acknowledges the volume of last-days deception and distinguishes his position from antinomianism: Christians are called to holiness and obedience, but Odle argues that they are governed by the New Covenant rather than commanded to adopt Israel’s complete Mosaic code, ritual calendar, food laws, or identifying customs.

Ebionites, Rob Skiba & the Law

Pastor Dean Odle argues that requiring Christians to keep the Sinai covenant undermines justification by faith and revives ideas associated with the ancient Ebionites. Using Galatians, Acts 15, and Paul’s contrast between bondage and freedom, he responds to teachings associated with Rob Skiba and the modern Torah-observant movement. Odle’s principal concern is not voluntary cultural practice but making Mosaic observance a measure of righteousness, salvation, or spiritual legitimacy.

Cerinthus, the Ebionites & Sophia Heresies

Pastor Dean Odle warns that ancient Christological and Gnostic errors are resurfacing in modern Christian movements. Beginning with Paul’s prediction that people would turn from sound doctrine to fables, he identifies teachings associated with Cerinthus, the Ebionites, and “Sophia” traditions: denying Christ’s full deity, separating the heavenly Christ from the man Jesus, treating the Holy Spirit as a feminine goddess, or requiring Mosaic-law observance for salvation and standing with God. He also criticizes celebrity loyalty that excuses serious doctrinal error.

I Don't Hate Torah Observers

Dean Odle responds to claims that his criticism of Torah-observance teaching reflects hatred toward its adherents. Drawing on his own time in Messianic fellowship, he says his concern is doctrinal and pastoral: requiring Mosaic observance for salvation or covenant standing obscures the sufficiency of Jesus Christ and the change of priesthood and covenant described in Hebrews.

The Schoolmaster, The Bondwoman & The Dead Husband

Dean Odle argues that New Covenant believers are justified by faith in Jesus Christ apart from the works of the Mosaic law. Through Romans, Galatians, Hebrews, Acts 15, and three governing images—the schoolmaster, bondwoman, and dead husband—he opposes Torah-observant teaching that makes Sabbaths, feasts, circumcision, or dietary rules measures of righteousness.
