Church the biggest idolatry that we have the biggest Idol that we have is ourselves we want it the way we want it how we want it when we want it and we want Jesus to accommodate it all just like we want it now if you say no that's not me I want God's will what if God's will for you is like it was for Paul when God told Paul you're going to suffer many things for my name's sake had do you like that prophecy I wouldn't want that prophecy and Paul did suffer as he walked a life of obedience to God and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and spreading the truth and establishing churches and discipling making disciples and yearning for Christians to mature and grow and get strong in their faith and their walk with God and all of that that man suffered oh can you imagine be being whipped with a cat of nine tails 39 lashes five different times can you imagine what his back looked like did his skin stay together anymore how about when he woke up in the morning he said he was was beaten with rods three times I wouldn't want to be beaten with rods one time right he was stoned he was Shipwrecked mobbed put in prison he went through all kinds of stuff he's trying to build a fire to help people out after a shipwreck and a snake bites him on the hand now it was a poisonous Viper and God did a miracle and it didn't kill him but those two fangs are like now how many ever been bitten by a real snake I'm talking about a venomous snake that has fangs I have right it feels like a nail being driven in you it's not comfortable it doesn't feel good nothing about it feels good in fact I thought I stepped on a nail and went all up in my foot I was like what is this and I kicked and it was water moxin wrapped around my foot I was like okay it's a new level here now I went to the next level I got that thing off of me um but Jesus said this he said we must deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow him and I've talked about that a lot but what does that mean what does that mean it you know and I've talked about this a lot too and over the last several years about being led by the spirit and doing the will of God but let me explain something that we really as Christ Christians especially American Christians need to get down in us that we will through much tribulation
enter the kingdom of God that we will that we will suffer there will be suffering spiritual suffering mental and emotional suffering and physical suffering in this life as a Christian the Lord doesn't make everything go away he doesn't always make it easy sometimes we pray and people die sometimes we pray and the healing doesn't come sometimes we don't see the change we want to see or we don't see the Breakthrough maybe you you struggling not just maybe physically but financially or your marriage is struggling you think there's no it's never going to change guess what I'm not going to be a liar up here it may never change that's not the question of whether your circumstances change or they don't change the question is will you love Jesus and be faithful to him even if it doesn't change even if you have to suffer until he comes again or you go to be with him and if that question if you get your little panties in a w and you get offended with God because you don't get what you want when you want then guess what your idol is yourself and it will continue to make you stumble until you work through that place where you can say Jesus I love you and I'm with you even if you don't answer this prayer even if you don't change change this situation even if I lose this person even if I'm in pain even if I have to deal with you know a terrible situation I think of job you know we all talk we think of job's wonderful you know restoration at the end of everything but that didn't bring back his children that died and now and and just so we add this on weather manipulation is not a new thing Satan's been doing that for a long time he doesn't even need technology to manipulate the weather but you think about when job sat down and it said job did not sin with his mouth he said the lord giveth the lord taketh away blessed be the name of the Lord right and it said job did not do any sin to cause what happened to him I know the faith movement wants to try to change that story but it says God said job did not do anything to bring that upon himself and then when it happened happened to him and he was struck down with horrible boils all over him he he was miserable
and we really don't know how long this went on with him and his his wife even said curse God and die that's some encouragement right there so T Tim Hawkins said you know God took everything from job but left his wife and the devil's like yeah I I I know what I'm doing right but you got to remember we we joke a little bit but this woman just lost her children so she was in a lot of pain right but this life this life there's going to be suffering difficulty Jesus said in this world you will have tribulation that's a fact what does tribulation mean trouble distress anguish it's not just persecution that's only one facet of it I mean I think of the first century Christians from from day one they had to be concerned that at any moment they could be arrested beaten whipped thrown in jail just for being a Christian and many many many were put in the Coliseum for entertainment to be chewed up by lions and tigers or to be crucified and hang there until they died while crowds cheered as they suffered and died does God deliver yes he delivers does he do Miracles yes I've seen God deliver I shouldn't be here I been in Nigeria with a bomb on the plane next to me I've been marched down into the darkness with AK-47s I was soldiers I've been shot at I've heard bullets go by my ears so God God has delivered me many times I should have died if not for God's intervention and my wife and a and a wonderful doctor that went all out I would have been dead from covid in 2021 so I'm grateful I have seen God deliver I have seen every miracle that the New Testament talks about I've seen Jesus do that but again if we base our walk with him on him getting us out of a jam every time or making life comfortable and cushy for us all the time that's what the that's the problem with the Prosperity Gospel it's not that God won't bless his people yeah God will bless us sometimes but what if he doesn't what Paul said there times I go through great necessity and we can even say pain and suffering and trials and then he said
there's times I'm abounding right he times when I'm a blessed Beyond being blessed he said but whatever state I'm in I've learned to be content somebody say holy ghost contentment hly ghost contentment this is hard for Americans we want microwave everything right when we want it see we need crockpot Christianity instead of microwave Christianity and this is this is something you know I I I toyed with this I was like and this all these things are going like I I had about 15 different messages going through my head last night but this scripture and I want to read this um I guess I'm going to try to hold 10 places here um go to uh well go to First Peter chapter 4 say Pastor Dean that do you mean you don't believe in healing and miracles are you no I do I I pray for people take them through Deliverance see demons leave them and they get healed and I'm still in pain do I quit oh y'all just don't know the night from hell I had last night I was in severe pain from about 2: a.m. to about 6 6 a.m. this morning I slept 1 hour before and 1 hour after did I stay home from church nope am I going to just roll over and whine and complain and get mad at God because I've been dealing with this severe problem in my left foot for 3 years while I'm praying for other people and they're getting healed of stuff makes you have to deal with some things like all right Lord how about me you forgot me down here you know I do have to preach and counsel and pray for people and do deliverances and all this stuff it would be helpful if I could sleep oh and by the way I know some of you say well you're walking around fine yeah I don't feel it when I'm preaching it's usually after or when I'm on my feet for a all
day then it's excruciating and then oh don't let me try to lay down at night lay down in the bed because your circulation changes and something goes haywire and I'm talking about it's pain it's pain like somebody sticking a knife in my foot and trust me through many sleepless nights over the last three years I have talked to the Lord a little bit I can assure you and you know what when I start talking about this hey Lord I need healing here silence hey Lord can you give me what to preach oh yeah sure here preach on this right here let's read this 1 Peter 4 for as much then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh arm yourselves likewise with the same mind for he that hath suffered In the Flesh hath ceased from sin that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lust of men but to the will of God now I want to pause right there there's another part of this we're going to read but let's let's look at that again he said arm yourselves Christ suffered In the Flesh he said arm yourselves likewise arm yourselves what that doesn't sound like a militant term doesn't it sounds like a military arm yourself so I said I've kind of toyed with this calling this the the weapon of suffering not necessarily a spiritual warfare weapon that gets preached about at conferences right because we tend to want to think well our job is as Christians and as ministers is to try to help everybody and relieve everybody of their suffering and yes we want to help people I hate seeing people tormented by demons I hate seeing people suffering with pain or sickness I hate seeing people distressed and having mental whether it be anxiety or fear or depression and again we see people healed and delivered of those things but what if not what if not immediately he said to arm yourselves with this why does he say you have to arm yourselves with this mind of understanding you're going to suffer in the flesh because this is where the devil's going to attack you that when you are going through it he's going to try to get you upset angry with God to the point that
you you start rebelling you start pitching a little temper tantrum and see what it's proving if you do that what it's proving is that you're a little baby spiritually and the purpose of God allowing it to continue is to get you to grow out of that immaturity and if you don't then the Cycle's going to continue until you do cuz in this past three years I've had a few little temper tantrums myself about it and realized that the Lord is looking at me like I'm a little two-year-old rooll around in the floor he a't moved by that he's like it's got to be you got to grow up son remember I've told y'all many times that whole thing about rejoicing and for trials and afflictions and suffering that I ain't there the Lord's like you going to get there and look even if right now the Lord delivered every one of us in here from our personal issu isues whether it be physical mental emotional spiritual whether he fixed every problem right now and they were all gone everything disappeared you got the Breakthrough you got the answer you got the miracle there's another one coming there's another trial coming there's another test there's more pain coming there's more disappointments coming there's betrayal coming there's deaths coming there's loss this life there is pain right but this not a popular message to talk about church especially among Christians that believe in healing and deliverance and the supernatural power of God and look I'll never quit believing that I'll keep laying hands on the sick and praying for the sick and casting out demons and praying for people to be delivered from their depression and their heaviness and and and praying for their relationships to be healed and the marriages to work and oh we get the prayer requests from all over the world y'all please pray for my my husband pray for my wife pray for my marriage pray I'm we're sick we got this person in the hospital this person's dying of this it's overwhelming it really is the need in the world the suffering in the world is overwhelming and you have to arm yourselves to realize when the reason part of the reason why Jesus came God In the Flesh
came and allowed himself to go through such pain and suffering was to show us if it's going to happen to me and I endured it you're going to have to deal with with it remember he said the disciple's not greater than his master if he he said if they've done this in a green tree what are they going to do in a dry one and you think about Jesus he never sinned he certainly he didn't deserve one bit of mistreatment that he received and I think about it you know he could have just they could have just killed him and we could still say he was the sacrifice he paid for death when he never sinned for the wages of sin is death even if they just had killed him with the sword or they would have maybe just crucified him but no he was beaten the fist of Roman soldiers he had his beard yanked out he had a crown of thorns pressed down into his skull with thorns about this long he he was whipped with a cat of Ninetails then he was nailed to a cross and hung on that for hours to get a breath he would have to press up on the nails in his feet just to take a breath why all the suffering why did it have to be that way because he was showing us some of us are going to go through that kind of stuff and the question is the question is not will we go through suffering and pain and loss question is how will we deal with it will we still love him will we still believe he's the pearl of great price will we still hold on to knowing that as Paul said the afflictions of this life in this present time he said are nothing to be compared to the glory that will be revealed in us are we really is the see again our problem is we get so focused just on this life and it is but a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away is Jesus your treasure of your heart is he the great Pearl you know let's let's go to that hold your spot there in 1 Peter 4 we're going to come back to it but go
back go to uh Matthew Chapter 13 two very short Parables Jesus told but they're about him and they're very short Matthew 13:44 through 46 and he says here again the Kingdom of Heaven is like under treasure hid in a field the which when a man hath found he hideth and for Joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he has and buth that field and again he says the Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a merchant man seeking goodly pearls who when he has found one pearl of great price he went and sold all that he had and bought it see this is what I've been I guess I've been trying to get across for Years to everybody if I could get this across to Christians and Christians would do this we would have Revival see what I'm talking about is when you deny yourself completely and you totally surrender and Jesus is everything to you you're willing to do whatever it doesn't matter you're willing to sell everything you're willing to if you lose everything but you have him you're not worried about if oh if I lose the house or I lose the car or I lose the bank account I mean think about there there are Christians who in 2008 when the whole economy collapsed and they lost their 401K was thinking about committing suicide can you imagine what's going to happen in the the next crash cuz the next one we won't recover from this is when we're going to find out do you really trust God is Jesus the pearl of great price so I remember back years ago when I went through which I've shared with y'all the best one of the best things that ever happened to me was losing everything was it painful oh in fact there's an aspect of it that is still painful to this day but I had a thriving Church gone a good income gone a nice house with a pool gone brand new truck gone gone wife gone the life I knew
gone you want to talk about pain it was painful daughter's gone still gone I really lost two in that whole thing to this day but what do I either roll over and just say God doesn't care about me he must not care about me at all so I might as well just drink and and party or do drugs or run after sexual I'd rather just go please the flesh so I can self-medicate and feel better and try to bury my pain or I run to Jesus and I remember when the Lord told me about this is before Faith was born before Nancy and I got married and he and I he was telling me to go to Washington DC and my two older daughters lived in Montgomery and I remember the Lord saying to me I didn't want to go to Washington DC because I'm 800 7 800 miles away whatever it was and the Lord said your children can't be an idol to to you I mean the Lord he he was like he said Son you take up your cross and you follow me your children can't be an idol to you your spouse can't be an idol to you your job can't be an idol to you getting your own way can't be an idol to you see we got look I I know look we got a bunch of people we got a bunch of baby Christians that when things don't go their way they say I'm going to run and go drink I'm gonna go smoke a joint I'm gonna go look at pornography you know pornography is a drug y'all know that right it creates a mixture of chemicals in your brain they actually have a name for it called a rot Toxin and people run to that see a lot women y'all need to understand a lot of guys don't run to that just because they got it they're lusting after other women no they have actually have an addiction that's chemical physical because again they're running to it like like people run to pills or marijuana or cocaine or alcohol it's it's a comfort it's a make me feel good make the flesh feel good because everything else feels bad and the Lord the Lord just wants you to know if that stuff is in your life if that's where you run when there is pain if you run to this to to rebel and sin against
God because you're angry at him then you're a child you haven't grown up yet you haven't matured yet and see and this is something we've got to arm ourselves with the understanding especially look in the days ahead of us Jesus has told us the world as it gets closer and closer to his second coming is going to get worse and worse and worse I mean we're going to be dealing we think covid was something to deal with we're going to be dealing with something far worse in the near future we think that K Ivy shutting down the state was tyranny it's going to be worse in the days ahead it's it's we're going to have more people turn against God and turn against Jesus said Matthew 24 he said many will be offended and betray one another and hate one another and he said the love of many will wax cold well you know what's interesting is the word love he uses there in the Greek is agape which is only applied to Christians who have the Holy Spirit in them meaning that Christians love that they have from God will grow cold and it's because they'll be offended but who are they offended it's not offended with people they will be offended with God because it is not going to go well see the Lord's trying to get us to arm ourselves I know I've been talking about it our church ought to be ready for this stuff but again we still have the power on the refrigerator still works we can still run to the store we're not getting put in jail yet for for for meeting and going to church you know they're probably soon they they enforc this climate nonsense it'll be it'll be illegal to drive your car to church what's that yeah legal to own a house our brother said and all kinds of stuff we have no idea the difficulty if you go down through history oh oh gosh the Christian groups that have suffered at the hands of other cot Christians you know what entities killed more Christians tortured persecuted more Christians than any other entity on the face of the Earth the Roman Catholic Church just ask the anabaptist and the Walden is and the what is that that other one starts with an A um I don't know but they they massacred entire towns would go in the Roman Catholic Inquisition they would go in and they would find any Protestant and they would kill men women and children burn them at
the stake most of the time torture them before they killed them this has gone on for centuries and Jesus said that the the end time what's amazing the the end time the the 70th week of Daniel that last seven years he said there is it's going to be like no other time on the face of the Earth that's ever been in history like it's going to be worse than anything that we can imagine are you going to pitch a little temper tantrum well what about what about when the power goes off and stays off for a while and everything in your fridge is spoiled and rotten I know I remember years ago we had a a missionary visit I think he was from India wasn't he from India babe I think he was from India but he was persecuted was in a place in India where Christians are not really liked and basically they were just shoved to the side of society and he had a family to feed and he said literally the Lord had some big birds drop a massive fish like they they would have that kind of provision happen just come fly over them big fish enough to feed the family but Paul said you know what he said I've been hungry and thirsty and us Americans we don't know what that is we going to pick pitch a little temper tantrum at God I thought I'm supposed to have my best life now I thought every day was supposed to be a Friday amen or oh me right let's go back to um first Peter so you know I saw this guy too this I don't know if it's this week or last week now just a short little video I don't even know who the guy was but he said you know the problem within American and Western say Christianity is you ask people somebody says okay I want you to go talk to this person on the street about Jesus and what most people are going to do Jesus loves you has a wonderful plan for your life remember that that was uh the four spiritual laws that was the
first one Jesus loves you has a wonderful plan for your life really wonderful plan it might be to be beaten with rods and whipped thrown in prison might be to be in a Chinese labor camp for 15 years separated from your family see we've told people oh no Jesus will make your life better really is that is that what we're selling can he do that yes he made my life better my life's better than when I was doing drugs and drinking every day and guardian and and all that sexual immorality you know why because I was going to hell living like that so when he brought me out of Darkness Into His Marvelous Light and I saw that I was a sinner and I repented of my sin and made Jesus Lord Of My Life hey that is what he came to give me that's better after that am I thankful that I have a home that I have a car to drive that I have clothes to wear that I have food to eat that I have air conditioning in Alabama Hallelujah but if all that's ripped away if it's all gone you know a lot of people melt down when somebody close to them dies a spouse a child and they melt down you know I had to go to the doctor I've got a new doctor I like him he's a Christian guy and he was very happy with me because I got my act together but he was happy and he said but he said you know he said we're all dying he goes I got and this guy's a Christian he said I got patients that are just freaking out scared to die he said if you're a Christian if you're born again you shouldn't be afraid to die it's part of the process but see again we're locked in on this world here's what's more important you say well oh God I i' I I don't want to lose somebody close to me the question you need to ask is have you done everything that you can possibly do to lead that person to Jesus so you can be with them forever that's more important than whether you have them here in this life for as long as you want did they go to heaven and then are you going to go be there and join them you see what I'm excited about there's going to be a day that I'm going to see my great-grandmother again that I'm going to see my two great aunts again that I'm going to see my great-
granddad again that I'm going to see my mom again and I'm going to get to be with them forever as long as I make sure I don't let anything take me away from Jesus that I stay with him him because it should be about eternity everlasting life eternal life man if we miss that then all everything else has been in vain Paul worried you know he worried for the Thessalonians he said he said I'm just worried that the tempter might in some way have tempted you and our labor there had been in vain and they had a Revival there in thessalonica when he came he but he was so worried about these new Believers that they would get strong in their faith and their walk with God and that they would make it but he said think about this he has a Revival all these people get saved in thessalonica a church is born supernaturally by the power of the holy spirit in just a few weeks and he's worried when he has to leave I wonder if our labor is going to be in vain or not but back to f 1 Peter 4 real quick it's not even 12 y'all we're doing good go over to verse 12 he said beloved think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you as though some strange thing happened unto you but rejoice in as much as you are partakers of Christ's sufferings that when his glory shall be revealed you may be glad also with exceeding Joy if you be reproached for the name of Christ happy are ye for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you and on their part he is evil spoken of but on your part he is glorified but let none of you suffer as a murderer or as a thief or as an evildoer or as a busy body in other men's matters yet if any man suffer as a Christian let him not be ashamed but let him glorify God on this behalf and then he says for the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God and if it begin at us what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel and if the righteous scarcely be saved that means with difficulty where shall the ungodly and The Sinner appear wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in welld doing as unto a faithful Creator suffering as a CH again look up 15 or 20 mega churches today and see what they're talking about this because most of them have the the idea oh you got saved you're good no matter you know Charles Stanley the famous Baptist preacher in Atlanta used to say it
didn't matter if you became an unbeliever you your your salvation was not in jeopardy yet the entire Bible is contrary to that nonsense hold fast to that which you have let no man take your crown what Crown is he talking about oh the crown of eternal life that God's promised to give to those that love him that's one Crown you know you better get I don't care if I get any others I'm going to make sure I have the Crown of Life which means I have eternal life see I I I wonder sometimes we're we're going to we're we're going to see you know Jesus said this to Simon Peter before right before he went he was arrested and he said Satan has desired to have you that he may sift you as wheat but I've prayed for you that afterwards what you're converted meaning brought back you'll strengthen your brethren but sifted is we Satan wanted to have you let me just say this if you start out trying to to do anything for God trying to live for God trying to obey him trying to feeling like he's called you to do a specific thing and you start out trying to do that I assure you Satan will come and he will petition God to to have you for a season that he may sift you as wheat and it is not going to be a comfortable process we look at Peter sometimes and look at his denial and his cursing and his cutting guys year off and we think all that we think oh that's just Peter but what happened was the Lord stepped back and said I'm going to let Satan have you for a little while woo that's a dangerous time I know I've gone through those you know the Lord spoke to me in 2000 you know my my stuff started at the end of 2001 and actually right at the end of 2000 and in 2001 the Lord told me he said 2001 was going to be a year of tragedy I had no idea how bad it was going to be oh boy and I you know what's interesting I I started writing a book that's not I haven't published I started writing a book in 1999 uh right after the Columbine thing on spiritual warfare deliverance and all kinds of stuff and I wrote a a little bit more in 2004 I wrote a little bit more in 2008 I mean I think it's like 17 18 chapters now just I ought to finish it at some point but it's been so many years now I got to update a bunch of stuff but what's interesting is I pulled it out the other day and I started reading and didn't realize that I had a
prophecy in there that I wrote From The Lord and this was remember this was in 99 and the Lord told me he said the next 10 years of your life are going to be very very difficult not what you want to hear but I look at it and I was like Wow 99 to 2009 2009 is when the Lord finally said okay it's time to restore everything he had given me a Godly woman who was willing to do whatever God wanted to do in our lives want to do the will of God no matter what he spoke to me and said and I want you to go to opala start a church fire and Grace Church in 2009 and that was the beginning of the restoration of all that hell I went through but it was 10 years 10 years nobody wants to hear that no want to hear 10 years of difficulty pain trials testing every fiber of your being having several cars repossessed boy y'all just don't know when Nancy and I got married that was old saying we didn't have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of and you know what we just said we're going to do the will of God whatever it is whatever it takes and there were times oh the winter of 2014 the worst winter in North American history we move in right before that into that old 100y old house out there with no central air and heat and I was doing my own business and business went downhill nobody wanted to do anything and I think everything was cut off except the power water now think about this I'm telling you and that house then didn't have any insulation in it didn't have any new floors in it the floor itself was ice cold and the only way we were heating the house and and keeping from dying was I would cut wood during the day and have enough to burn that night to get us through the night and have to cut more wood the next day and then we had one vehicle one car and the transmission goes out this is all in the same week now here we are trying to PL we've the church has already started the church has already been going we didn't even have a way to get to church we had no hot water yeah the propane went out too we ran we actually ran out of propane and they couldn't get any to us and we didn't have any money even if they could get it to us so yeah
we had to boil water use a camping shower and then my poor wife she was just she was we laughed honestly we did start rejoicing I have to say in that time we because so many things happened in such a short span of time we actually laughed and said well if God wants us to keep pastoring this church I guess he'll provide a way for us to get to church Sunday I mean we're just like okay we're at your mercy God right but I remember my wife I mean it was cold I mean like one of the the high for the days was like 17° that doesn't happen in Alabama y'all it was freak it was just freakish six degrees one day I going out to work outside oh gosh and I remember my wife though she's rejoicing she's like well at least we can heat water and I can wash dishes and she would heat water and then go put it in the sink to wash dishes and while she she's she's washing dishes all of a sudden she's like my Feet's getting cold for some reason like colder than normal and the sink had busted underneath it and all the water was running out in the floor and we're like I mean it was really it was just one thing after another but we just sat back and we just rejoiced and we praised God and we said you know Lord you want us to pastor this church you want this church to keep going there's certain things we have to have we have to have a place to live we have to not be able to freeze to death we have to be able to communicate with a phone we have to be able to drive to places I mean you know very basic stuff and you know what he started fixing all of those things one by one but you know what we didn't pitch a temper tantrum we didn't freak out we didn't lose our minds and you know go down to the liquor store we didn't say oh we're just done we can't do this we like the lord it's it's that story when the Lord told the disciples go get in the boat and go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee there and they got in the boat you know in the middle of it they got in the storm the winds were contrary all that stuff Jesus comes walking on the water the boat's about to sink they're freaking out but not one of them ever stopped to Think Jesus is the one that said go to the other side if he said it we're going to make it no matter how it looks looks right now but if he said let's go to the other side we going to the other side and that's what I said I said Lord you said we were to we were going to see this church established in this town and we're going to somehow reach thousands this before we even there was even any way to do that we're going to somehow reach feed thousands and thousands of people through this little church didn't
know how it was going to happen but none of that mattered just like Lord Lord I know you said we're going to go to the other side so we're just going to stay with you you see before that all that stuff happened to me in 2001 the end of 2001 the lord gave me a dream you know what that dream was I was standing in a riverbed a dry rivered Big River like like the Alabama River across but it was there was no water in it and I mean I'm you know the river banks went up pretty high and I'm I'm standing there dry ground and all of a sudden it's like someone let a dam out and the water came down through there like a wall of it like it was like a 70ft wall of water coming at me and I knew you know I'm in trouble and this dream you know I I as I'm in trouble and all of a sudden of course the water hits me and I'm I'm being just I have no ability the the current is so fast I can't swim to the right or to the left it's just taking me where it's going to take me and and up ahead as I I don't know how I could see up ahead in the water but I could see up ahead that there was a huge like very fast Whirlpool started in in this little where I was about to go and I knew it was going to yank me under water and I knew I was in about 70 80 feet of water I knew that from my time years ago scuba diving and I saw be it was like I saw that whirlpool and right before it right in front of it I looked over and I saw and I know now what it was it was an angel like in a white rope standing on this side of the bank and then I looked over and there was an angel standing on that side of the bank and that means long way and they were holding a a thick rope it was like about that thick but I remember the Rope was Scarlet Red laying it was laying on top of the water and I knew that if I don't grab this rope and hang on for dear life I ain't going to make it and the moment I reached up and grabbed the Rope the current that Whirlpool snatched me underw water and I was pulled forcefully down under water so hard that I I put this other arm over my head because I figured I was going to hit the bottom head first like with the rocks and everything I was just going to hit head for so I was like and I don't know how much time passed and I don't know what happened but it was like a Flash and it was a a passage of time and then and the next thing I know I'm standing to the right side of the of the river in about kneed deep water next to that angel that's holding that rope and it was like you're going to make it you're going to be okay we're going to get to the other side but I knew what the Rope represented the Rope represented the
blood of Jesus it represented what he had done for me it representing my relationship with him and what the devil was trying to do he was trying to steal that from me he was trying to he the Lord was allowing the Devil to sift me it was like I mean lose everything I'm talking about lose everything because what the devil was like saying if I Lord if I take away his church I take away his ministry I take away his money I take away his truck I take away his house I take away his wife I take away his children I take everything he'll turn on you he'll cuss you you know what I said through that whole thing that that trial went on for several years you know what I kept saying I don't know when I'm coming out of this Jesus but I'm hanging on to you and that's all I had sometimes and I believe the while I ended up the water was up to my knees because your knees represent being on your knees in prayer I would just keep praying oh I'd have some bad days I'd have some days I was so sad and depressed I would just cry all day long there were times I'd say Lord I don't want to live like this it's too painful and you know it says man's not good man to be alone it really wasn't good for me I'm I'm I'm not the person who wants to live by myself in a house but I remember just saying Lord You're All I've got people would come to me and they say they would tell me you're one of the best preachers teachers of the of God's word I've ever heard why are you not preaching because this went on for several years I mean I did go to Africa and the first part of that and but there was a season there in fact there was a season I was so sick of Christians in church I didn't go to church for a while yeah the pastor didn't go to church yeah that's right for one year because I was sick of them and I remember just saying Lord You're I got and they would say that you know why aren't you preaching I said and I knew see I said I knew God's calling on my life I knew the true prophetic words and visions that had been over my life and I didn't know how we were going to get to the other side but I said I know we're going to get there and I said and I would tell them I say you know I used to play football I love football I said man with a broken leg can't play football for the Tennessee Titans leg got to heal right and I said my heart's broken it's I I literally know now what it is to have a truly a broken heart where you can't do what you want to do cuz it is broken you want to do what God wants you to do but you actually can't do it because you're so brokenhearted but what would I do I'd go
in there and just pray I remember I I had a job with Old Mills had to travel all over the South Arkansas Mississippi Florida Panhandle All of Alabama and I would just pray Lord Heal My Heart heal my broken heart help me out of this somehow show me what to do now think about 2001 when did when did he do this not in my time cuz I would have loved it to be in 2001 maybe 2002 no 2007 I've been praying this prayer for for those six years Lord please heal my broken heart and help me do what you've called me to do I just wouldn't let go of him I wouldn't let go of that rope even though it snatched me on wouldn't let go I just kept praying Lord please heal my heart and one day I I kid you not it's like he reached down I F his hand reached down inside of me it's like he took my heart in his hand and fixed it like that I can't explain it to you it wasn't some it wasn't because I fasted for 20 days it wasn't because I prayed in tongues for eight hours it wasn't because I was it was just he just finally in his time because I refus to let go and go back to the world and just leave him he fixed it and man let me tell you I was like a new man brand new it was like getting saved all over again I couldn't get enough of the Bible would sit there and read the Bible and study all day long again pray and just felt the joy and the peace of God and just knew that it's time now to get back to doing what God called me that's when I I wrote the Holy Spirit Tong is a fire book right coming out you can look at the date on it 2007 that's when it it's like you got to write that and you got to get going you got to leave Montgomery I remember the Lord said you got to leave Montgomery I want you to go help your brother start a church over in Georgia and that's so I could find my restoration right there let me tell you something God will do what you need need when you need it you just can't let go of him you can't get offended you can't get upset and mad at him because it he's always right even if you think he's wrong and what he's allowing or what he's doing he's always right and you have to admit it like I don't understand this but you're right you're always right Lord and I know you love me and I know the bible
promises me that all things work together for good because I know I'm called according to your purpose I know you love me and I'm called according to your purpose therefore somehow what's happening to me right now is working out for my good now see I can look back on it now 23 years later and go every single bit of that was for my good today and it wasn't that God gave me back what I lost he had something else for me and I tell you something I wouldn't trade this church for the church I had back then for anything in the world I wouldn't trade the man I am now for the man that I was back then you see sometimes you got to go through the fire because it's going going to burn stuff out of you that's got to be burned out of you and our problem is we want everything like that and I'm going to tell you those six years man I went through hell financially mentally emotionally physically yeah because it was that trip to was that trip to Africa where I got seven vaccines at one time number one I didn't know what I know now or that would have never happened but that's what started the whole process of what I'm dealing with right now and it was because I was obeying God to go to Africa in 2002 to preach and did God move man I can't tell you how many people got saved how many people got healed it was one of the most powerful seasons of ministry I've ever seen that whole month I was in Africa so I'm I'm actually have been suffering with a problem a physical problem from something I did to obey God 20 plus years ago oh Pastor Dean well that just doesn't sound right he's right all the time I don't like it but I know he's right and he'll heal me when he's ready cuz Lord knows I know I've got probably several thousand people praying for me so it's not like he hadn't heard the
request but what if not do I quit do I get mad and take my toys and go home do I get mad and retire and say I can't do it Lord and just say turn it over to the young men I'm done no there's no retiring you don't you don't you're called by God you don't retire no I'm going to go for Jesus until I can't go and then I'll probably keep going anyway Bo right y'all okay with that is Jesus your Pearl a great price see oh if I could get Christians sell everything get rid of everything I'm not talking about in a in a literal sense he might tell you to do that but I'm not saying in a l that nothing is more important to you than him and the idol of yourself can't be there self wants this self wants that self wants this self wants that that's an idol and if self dictates what you do and you don't do instead of the Holy Spirit then self is your idol and don't don't one day stand before God and have to give an account for worshiping yourself above God says they worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator isn't that what Romans 1 says well the creature can be you you can worship you I assure you some of these preachers worship themselves I know one right now I could just needs to get free you have to be willing to even and you know that's another thing you have to be willing to walk away from The Fame game you know I don't care about being famous in fact let me tell you something the more famous you are the more difficult your life becomes I just assure you that right now just mark it down especially if it's you a famous preacher the more famous you get the more you get pulled on by every person person and you know it's it's something I I'll tell you what I think too A lot of times young preachers they want they want all this success they want a big church a big Ministry the biggest TV Ministry the biggest you know mailing list it used to be now it's the biggest list of followers you know all this stuff a lot of them though because they've made an idol of
themselves and they've made an idol of ministry and numbers and followers they actually they their their Idol has exceeded their character their Idols exceeded the growth of their Ministry has exceeded their ability to handle it some of them should not even be talking to that many people because they need to shut up and learn something you know that's why I love David Wilkerson he had enough sense back in the day I remember when the Lord told him stop preaching turn over the biggest Ministry in the world at the time turn that over to the Assemblies of God and spend six months with me and let go of it all let go of it all oh I got a funny story about David Wilson but I can't tell you now we got to quit I'll tell y'all about that later it's hilarious but I'll just tell you well you know we're building new church here at some point right and I had decided that I was going to have my own private bathroom in my office off off of my office there CU you know I'm building the church I can do what I want right okay so we get a call from this sweet couple that we've known for a number of years and they used to they used to be really good friends with David wols and next door neighbors him and Linda Ravenhill and worked for Keith Green and they knew all of them and uh they called us this week and said we got a strange thing said that you know when Dave moved to Texas he built this big house and said he had this bathroom that was aqua blue and said that huh oh the bathroom was but he also had an aqua blue toilet and anyway long story short they're like would you like to have David wilkerson's aqua blue toilet somehow some guy got it there a friend of theirs and like I don't know what to do with this thing I said sure I'll put it in my private bathroom nobody's going so I have something from brother [Laughter] Dave yeah uh all the way from the trials of 2001 to the aqua blue Throne of David wilon we have progressed have we God does some strange things in my
