Yes, Lord. Nothing is better than your presence in our lives. Lord, I sense you here this morning. Lord, as we worship you, Lord, we are desperate for you. God, for your tangible, manifest presence in our lives, God. God, for you to fill us with your Holy Spirit to work and flow through us. Lord, we want to have what the Bible calls the uncction of the Holy Spirit, the power of the Holy Spirit. When we speak your word, we want it to be backed by your anointing power. God, we don't want to be Christians who don't have any oil in our vessels. And we know, Lord, that we can't get that anywhere else but from you. from your holy word, from your truth, are choosing to be obedient. Lord, we long for you. We are desperate for your presence, for your anointing and your power.
We ask you to fill us. We ask that your kingdom come and your will be done in and through us in earth as it is in heaven, Lord. You have made us your channels [snorts] of power, of channels of truth, channels of your anointing. You've made us your hands and feet. You've made us your mouth to people. Lord, you have made us your body to do your work. Help us do it correctly. Help us do it the way you want it done. And Lord, I pray this today in Jesus name. Can everybody say amen to that? Amen. Amen. All right, you may be seated this morning. Hallelujah. Welcome everyone to Fire and Grace Church. Uh those watching and listening. Good to see everybody here. Um I want to say this before we get started as you're settling in. I hope you have your Bibles. Um we're going to go through some scripture this morning. Um but I wanted to say this too. I wanted to thank everybody out there. We have a lot of people that watch and listen that consider themselves part of Fire and Grace Church and I don't always acknowledge that but we appreciate all of you here, all of you out there. And I want to say this. I want to say thank you to all those. We had a lot of people uh give toward the building this past week as Nancy uh sent out an update and where we are in that project and uh things things are good. So, we just we need to just keep uh keep obeying the Lord. But it won't be long we will be able to start actually lay the foundation and get going. All the permit process is just about done. and uh it's going quickly. So, thank you for all your giving out there and those that give in here, thank you for it. Uh look, and I can say [clears throat] this, I don't care about buildings. I don't care as even though I've been in the ministry nearly 40 years and I've never built a building. I'm not into building projects. Don't really like them. Don't like spending a lot of money. But I feel like that and I have felt for several years that there will be a time in the future that we will need to be on our own land in our own building that we own that the bank doesn't own. And uh so they can't take it, at least not legally. They'd have to take it by force. So uh that's what we're doing and that's why we're doing it and hopefully to have Skyfall there. Amen to that. All right. Well, if you have your Bibles this morning, I want you to turn with me first to Hebrews chapter 4. And you can go ahead and put my title up here. We're not going back to Enoch just yet. As I prayed last night and this morning, the Lord was like, "Nope, not today."
And there's a reason. because, you know, when I go through things and have to fight the devil in some areas, um, I kind of feel like I usually need to share that with you. And the Lord just confirmed that this morning. And he actually spoke these words to me when I said, "What do I need to speak to him about today?" And he said, "The power of the word of God." Um, now I'm going to read Hebrews chapter 4. And everybody ought to know this verse 12. He says this here. For the word of God is quick. I like that old English word quick. It means alive. That's something that's breathing. It's something that's energetic. It's something that has force and power and strength and ability. He says, "For the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of sunder, of the soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." I'm going to back up again. He says that this word of God, this Bible we have here that God has given us is powerful and it's alive. Now, I want you to go with me. Go just one chapter over, chapter 5, and go down to verse number eight. This is speaking of Jesus. And it says, "Though he were a son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered, and being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that believe in him." Just hope, just making sure y'all catch that. All those who obey him. He says, "Called of God, a high priest after the order of MelkiseDC." And then he says this, okay, he's talking about Jesus and all that he did for us and all that that means. And he says here, "For when the time you ought to be teachers, you need that one teach you again, which be the first principles of the oracles of God, and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For everyone that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness, for he is a bay. But strong meat belongth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use. Somebody say, by reason of use. Say, I must use the word of God. I must use the word of God. You can't just say, I know it. You must use it. I'm going to talk about that a little bit. And then he says this. So what he says, strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of
use have their senses, that's your spiritual senses, exercise to discern both good and evil. Okay? Now notice he could he connects your ability to discern good and evil by do you have experience of using the word. Not just I know the word but using the word. Putting the word of God into practice and actually just believing what it says about it. See what for a lot of us again, we let the devil distract us and kind of get us a little off course when we don't do some of the very basic things. Now, I'm going to because I'm going to share this, but I want I want to go to this too. Go to First Peter chapter 5. I could also make this part of the resistance message. We could make this part too. But here what he says here. Let's go down to verse six. He says, "Humble yourselves, therefore, into the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon him, for he carth for you. Be sober, be vigilant." Now, does that act like you're to be lazy and whatever? Nope. He says, "Be sober and be vigilant." Why? Because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour whom resists steadfast in the faith as it says resist him steadfast in the faith in faith. Now I'm going to explain to you too how you do that. But let me let me just explain I guess let me share with you why I believe the Lord want to share this with you today. because in the last week or so, I don't know when we started back doing this, but at night now, and we've started doing this, I don't care if we've go we've gone to bed at midnight and 1:00 in the morning, but we started just laying there and I started just reading the Bible out loud to my wife, not really studying anything, but just reading. We started for some reason in Psalm 34 and now we're through about Psalm 40 something. I don't know where we are, but I just started reading it out loud before we went to bed. And I, you know, I don't know why. I don't know. It just kind of happened and started doing it every night. Now, we didn't do it last night cuz we had to go to Montgomery and all that, but I wish we had. But let me just tell you what's happened just from doing that. And sometimes we read about two or three chapters, sometimes maybe four or five.
But I've noticed the atmosphere change in the house. I've noticed that I'm not having crazy dreams like I'd been having. I noticed more peace. I noticed I was sleeping better. And I'm like, "Huh?" Imagine that. Reading the Bible out loud put the power and presence of God in the house. Why? Because I'm not just saying I know it or I believe it. I'm using it. Y'all get that? And the devil does not like it when the word of God is spoken out loud. He hates it. And especially when it comes from the heart and the spirit of somebody who is truly born again and loves Jesus. Because then not only are those his words that are powerful, but they're coming from an anointed place that make it even more powerful. You understand? This is why people can get saved in a dead church. The church might be dead, but the word of God's alive and powerful. Sometimes they might just hear just enough to be convicted of their sins to be touched by the Holy Spirit and to repent and get saved. I mean, that's what happened to us in a lot of dead Baptist churches. We heard a salvation message and the word of God was alive and powerful and it was the sword that pierced our heart and made us realize we were a sinner and we needed to ask Jesus to forgive us and be our Lord and Savior. But see again I know had I stayed in that Baptist church down there, they would have killed me. what they the good thing they did they would have undid undid right now [clears throat] I want to show you this let's go to and again who who is our example well Jesus let's go to Luke chapter 4 Luke 4:1 1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being 40 days tempted of the devil. In those days he did eat nothing. And when they were ended, he afterward hungered. And the devil said unto him, "If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread." And Jesus answered, saying, "It is written." Somebody say, "It is written." It is written. So, what did Jesus do every time the devil tempted him with something? He spoke it out loud.
He didn't just say, "Well, I know what to do. I know spiritual warfare. I'm Jesus. I'm anointed." No. He spoke the word of God out of his mouth. Now, did the devil leave immediately? No. So what'd he do next time? Next temptation, what'd he do? Spoke the word. Spoke the word. And then the devil tried to speak the word. All right, let's keep reading. We'll just read it. And Jesus said, "It is written that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." And the devil taking him into a high mountain showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, "All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them, for that is delivered unto me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it. If thou therefore will worship me, all shall be thine." And Jesus answered and said unto him, "Get thee behind me, Satan, for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." So here he's quoting the Bible again. Right? But he's actually quoting the scripture again that applies to the situation. So he's being skillful in using the word. Somebody say skillful. Skillful. All right. I because I got some people attack me on social media. They're not skillful with the word. They think they are, but they there's a lot of Christians that think they're like a little child, like a little tiny toddler trying to handle a full-grown warrior's sword. They just can't do it and they should stop embarrassing themselves or I'm going to embarrass them. But there's a lot of people take the word out of context. They don't use it properly. I mean, I I literally have a so-called Christian attacking me about what I said about Islam and trying to use the scripture to attack me as if the Muslims are the same faith we're in. And I'm like, "What kind of Christian are you?" I mean, and I mean, just she's just slammed me. Like, how dare I say Islam is evil. I'm like, and and the scripture she used against me. It's like, well, these don't even apply, right? These don't even apply. So, you want to go online, you can find a lot of people using the Bible unskillfully, right? But Jesus took the scripture and applied it to the situation correctly. Right? And let's keep reading verse 9. And he brought him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said unto him, "If thou uh be the son of God, cast thyself down from hence, for it is written, he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee." Now, of course, the devil took part of Psalm 91
and made it unconditional. like you can do this at any time. You can test God, tempt God at any time. And again, that's not what Psalm 91 said. Psalm 91 said, "Hey, if the Lord is your secret place, if he if you love him, if your trust is in him, then the angels will do." So the devil will try to twist it. Well, what did Jesus do? He took the scripture again said, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." And when the devil handed all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. Now, let me say this. When you successfully resist the devil by the means, the tools, the weapons that God's given you, he'll leave for a season. Doesn't mean he's not coming back. He's always coming back. Now, the tricks are the same, y'all. He uses the same stuff. He's been using the same stuff to try to get to me for 40 years. Same crap. And let me explain to you what he does. One of the main ways that the devil gets permission from you to attack you, number one, is by your inaction, your lack of resistance, but also your lack of being sober and vigilant. Because let me just go on and tell you, stuff that's a cursed will creep into your house. I don't care how much you try to keep it out because you have people giving you gifts. You go to this thing and that thing and this function and that function and Christmas comes around and birthdays and all this stuff and people, oh, here's a nice gift. Here's a gift here. And most people, they're giving you stuff out of the goodness of their heart, right? that they don't know though that the object itself is cursed or a cursed which means it has a demonic spirit a demonic power attached to it. So that was another thing I was going I started going through and this is before we started the reading too at night I went through a few weeks of the darkest depression attack on me that I've had in a long time. Okay. And like I and I think I shared this a couple of weeks ago. I mean, it was heavy. It was dark. And I know some of it was witchcraft, witches cursing me, enemies, infiltrators. We could go down the list. People speaking words against me, social media, Muslims, Wiccans, Satanists, you know, I make them all upset, which is fine.
But, you know, I know I have to resist that. I have to break those curses off of me in Jesus' name by saying that right and addressing it directly. I have to bind demons, right? Jesus said, "First bind the strong man. You spoil is good." You have to command them to go from you. But I I was doing some of those things, but I couldn't shake it. And I'm like, "What the heck is going on?" And you know, and there was something I'm not going to say what it is cuz I don't want to hurt the person's feelings that gave it to me cuz it was a it was a sweet gift. But I was praying one night and the Lord was like, "That thing is a curse and you need to get it out of the house." So I went and got it and it went straight to the trash can. Okay. Immediately that heaviness lifted off of me. Okay. Now why am I bringing this up? Because over the years I have taught about this from the word of God over and over and over again. And yet some of you still have crap that you're allowing in your house that you know you shouldn't. And then you want to wonder why you're having all of this weird spiritual attacks going on. And as Pastor Dean, I'm buying the devil. It ain't working. H I'm resisting the devil. It ain't working. think nothing's getting better. The curse without a cause does not come upon you. Put up uh Proverbs 26:2. See, again, what we're talking about here is what? Using the word. Somebody say using or obeying or acting upon. Let me say this. When you speak the word or use the word or act act upon it, what you're supposed to act upon it, that is actually faith operating. You understand? I've told you last week a few weeks. It's it's one thing to put the parachute on and say, "I believe," but you don't really believe until you jump out of the plane. Right? All right. It says a bird by wondering and as a swallow by flying. He says, "So the cursed causeless shall not come." Let me just tell you, since I got that cursed object out of my house and started speaking the word of God at night, I have been more peaceful and joyful than I have been in a long time
and less arguing between me and my wife. Because that's what the devil's there to do is cause division and strife and sickness and problems, right? And what's interesting about the word sober in first Peter we just read about be sober, be vigilant. Do you know what it literally means? It means to be very calm and very attentive to what's going on. not all out of control. I found that interesting. I didn't know what I didn't know it meant that to be very calm and very deliberate in what you're doing. Say, "Pastor Dean, I just I'm a Christian. This stuff can't touch me." Well, just keep believing that nonsense. This is another thing. If someone brings you knowledge of the word of God on a topic and you don't receive it, put up Hosea 4:6 for a second. All of you ought to know this one. If you don't, you should memorize it. What does it say here? My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge. But that's not the only thing cuz there's a little colon there. Y'all see that? And then he says, "Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, seeing thou shalt be no priest to me, seeing that thou has forgotten the law or the word of God." If you forget the word of God, he says, I will also forget your children. Meaning again, how you choose to deal with the information, the truth of the word of God, how you choose to deal with it is going to affect not only you, but your family, your children. Um, but but I like the little demon dolly. Now, it's not coming in the house, but I like the little trolls or the little smurfs. or the video games with the demons in them. Some parent, some of you parents are letting your children bring this crap into the house. And again, you wonder why there's darkness and division and sickness and accidents and constant arguments because you've given place to the devil and you're not using the word against him. Look, I'm going to show you something. Go to Deuteronomy.
We don't often go to Deuteronomy, but go to Deuteronomy 7. And I want to just say, even though this is in the Old Testament, this principle carried over into the New Testament. I'll show you Deuteronomy 7. Oh, let's see. We're going to go down. Verse 25, y'all. There. He says, "The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire. Thou shalt not desire the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein, for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God, neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it, but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhore it, for it is a cursed thing. You do not bring the cursed thing into your home." And now now notice he said here he gives us the the images or the of their gods. But what about the symbols of their gods? A lot of them you know they claim to be Christian symbols are not. Let me just go on and tell you something. Every cross is not the same. Some are Rosacruian. Well, what is ro? Just look it up. Secret society, occult, satanic. You don't want a rose accusian cross in your house. You don't want a bale cross. You know what a bale cross is? Equal sides cross. You don't want a knights of malt cross. You understand what I'm saying? Just cuz Oh, but it's a cross and the Nazis had one on their uniforms, too. Pentagrams, five-pointed stars with circles around them. Hexog, six-pointed stars with circles around. You know how that symbol is everywhere? It can creep in. I bought a pair of jeans. Didn't realize that on the back tiny little spot there was a pentagram on it. I guess some of you are allowing stuff into your house. Your children and your grandchildren. Don't want to make them cry. Don't want to make them fuss. I got a I got a word for you that I learned from from Pastor John Kilpatrick is don't complain about what you tolerate.
If you let the the cursed objects in and the demons with them and they're tormenting and afflicting you and your family, don't get mad at God about it. You did it because you are not using the word of God. You are not obeying the word of God. You are not putting it to practice. Y'all are quiet as Lutheran, you know, a few years ago. And I, you know, again, I've taught messages on this, but you know, you know, the little the little figurines, uh, called willow tree angels, right? My wife had one. I guess somebody gave it to you, didn't they? Supposed to be the healing angel. Was it the healing angel or the hope? I don't know. Anyway, but when we moved here and we moved in our condo in Auburn on that golf course, you know, she had the big the big thing that had the TV in it and had all little places for all your little pictures and knickknacks and stuff and that thing was sitting there. Now, I never thought much about them. Didn't know who made them. Didn't know what they were. But one day I just realized, you know, there was a lot of heaviness in the house. I couldn't shake it. I couldn't figure out what it was. And I think Sheree came over and I was all the way across the room. Like they were sitting in the living room. I was in the kitchen way in the back. And I could hear them talking and and she was talking about some friend of hers that had gotten a tattoo. Here's what's wild. I'm all the way in the other room. I said, "It's not a willow tree, is it?" I don't even know where that came from. It had to come from the Lord. And she goes, "Yeah, how did you know that?" I said, "Huh?" But see, what the Lord was doing was he's leading me somewhere cuz I saw this willow tree and that tattoo of your friend was a willow tree. And I knew that witches love to use the willow tree, right? And I was like, "Huh, willow tree. Wait a minute. Why would a so-called Christian make statue figurines of angels out of willow tree wood? Why, particularly willow tree? I'm like, witches love willow tree. So, I go look up this woman. Guess what? She's she she must she was really good. She had all her information scrubbed from the internet in 2010. So, she must be up there in the echelon of witches and Satanists. But I look her up and I start looking up. What is she making here? Well, of course, come to find out some of the angels, most of them are female. Nowhere the Bible talks about female angels and the faceless. No face. So that you know they have faces.
And then here's what what really got it. The I think it was the healing angel or the but it was holding a bird, right? And I'm like, why is it what's the what's the bird? So, I look up in the Encyclopedia of a cult and witchcraft. Somebody say the encyclopedia of occult and witchcraft. I said, "What's a what's a bird have to do with healing?" Well, guess what? They believe in the occult world that there is a female angel that brings healing to your soul. And the bird represents the soul in occult mysticism and magic. Not in the Bible. Nowhere in the Bible's the bird. I get people all the time, oh my my father passed away and he showed up on the window sill one day, a little bird. No, he didn't. [clears throat] Cuz they talk about that represents your soul. That's a soul. No, it's a cultism. It's witchcraft sorcery. But let me tell you, when we got that thing out of the house, it was a glorious day. Well, a guy that was with us at the time, Kevin Wilkinson, who was with us when we started the church, I told him about what happened, what the Lord showed me. And of course, I looked that lady up and she's not a Christian. She's definitely into new age mysticism and occultism who made the angel. So, I I tell Kevin, well, Kevin's house was loaded. They were everywhere. I mean, his mother-in-law had bought them, I think, every willow, tree, angel, and set that existed. So, he goes to gather them up. So, he's got a box and he's gathering them up. The demon power on those things were so strong and they retaliated as he's giving them up and attacked him. He nearly had a heart attack, a physical heart attack. He said, "This thing's nearly killed me." taking them out the door. I said, "Yeah, this is no joke, man." Now, I agree you should burn them if you can because you don't want to give them to somebody else. But sometimes if you can't burn them and you just got to get them out of your house, just get them in the trash can or get them out somehow. Get them away from you. And then bind the demons that are on them. And then go around and anoint your house with oil and pray and ask the Lord to sanctify and cleanse your house out so you can have a fortress of solitude. We all need a fortress of solitude, a place of peace, a place where we can pray, a peaceful place for our family as much as possible because we have a lot of spiritual war going on. And let me just tell you something else too. I noticed just by reading the word these last, you know, this last week, I noticed that a lot of the electronic attack was not hitting his heart. Oh, you mean the word of God might have power against their technology?
Yeah, it does. This is what I'm talking about. Your faith has got to be in the power of the word of God. But you got to use it. You got to speak it. You got to put it to practice. You got to obey. And this is in everything. There can be no compromise. If you allow the devil's stuff into your life, you will become an oursed thing like that stuff. And guess what it says that, you know, it says there we're to burn them with fire. Think about this. If an oursed objects to be burned with fire, yet you allow it into your life and then let it come upon you and you become an occursed thing like it, guess where you're going? Figure it out. These things are not jokes. These just like this topic of our cursed objects can cause you to fall into sin and fall away from the Lord. And somebody said, "Well, well, some things I don't know." Well, let me tell you this. If it's questionable, away with it, right? But some stuff's not even questionable. Some stuff if it's got clear witchcraft on it. I mean, there's people still got Harry Potter books in their house. Twilight. Let me just go and tell you this, too. UFO books, aliens are fallen angels and demons. I bought some some UFO books, some secular ones because I'm doing research. Brought them in the house. Started getting attacked. Started getting hit hard and oppressed. Had to take them out away from the house and buying the demons on them. And I'm just trying to use them for research. This is how powerful some of these things are. And here's another thing. Like when I went to Africa, I went to Africa twice. I went to Nigeria. What's interesting that song always reminds me that we just sang the air I breathe. That song I was in actually August, this August, 26 years ago, I was there preaching power of God fell. It was an amazing time. But you go to some of these islands, you go to some of these places where the religion is pagan or voodoo or some type of uh santia or any kind of of a cult thing. And it can be an object as simple as this piece of wood.
Oh, it's just a piece of wood. But if a witch doctor in Nigeria put a curse on this and made sure it's in the store for stupid Americans to buy and take home. Now, here's the thing.
