Good morning, everyone. We want to welcome all of our students out there. This is Fire and Grace School of Ministry and We are in semester two Block number four spiritual warfare. This will be spiritual warfare class number six today we're going to get into demons and deliverance, so I I don't know I'm combining and renewing some stuff from the old series and putting in some new stuff, so I'm not sure if this will take two or three classes, but we'll see how it goes anyway demons and deliverance spiritual warfare class number six let's get started here. This is just from some I don't know Bible school seminary I thought it was interesting so I want to read a little bit of this paper from this gentleman here, but just talking about demon possession and demons in general. I think he made some interesting observations He says here in the New Testament The picture changes considerably when one turns to the New Testament He was comparing the the stories of demons and demon possession in the Old Testament versus the New of course in the new There's a lot more. He says in the New Testament demons are referred to more than 100 times now that I didn't know I'd never counted them up but demons are referred to more than 100 times with many of those references involving possession and we're going to define what that means and the different degrees of possession as we get into this class today. He goes on to say this particularly true of the gospel counts where J. Ramsey Michaels professor at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary search quote nothing is more certain about the ministry of Jesus than the fact that he performed Exorcism or he cast out devils. I mean, this is absolutely a huge part of the ministry of Jesus and this ministry was to continue it continued on in his Apostles it continued on under the 70 disciples that he sent out and it continued on in the early church and Has continued on in the church for centuries even though most churches ignore it He says here dealing with demon possession was an integral part of Jesus daily life and ministry It was also something in which he involved the Apostles and his other followers as Bible scholar and Christian apologist Merrill Unger reminds his readers quote not only did Jesus cast out demons But he delegated his power to the 12 to the 70 and even to believers now I want to read that again You know Unger's Bible dictionary anybody ever heard of that one. Well Merrill Unger says and I'm going to quote him again here He reminds his readers not only did Jesus cast out demons, but he delegated his this power to the 12 to the 70 and even to
Believers and I don't say all believers true born-again believers in Jesus Christ He said unfortunately only a few cases in Scripture are treated with sufficient detail to be of any help in this study Even those descriptions are often briefer than one would wish in several passages where demon possession is mentioned It is only in passing such as in Mark 132 they brought to him all who were sick or possessed with demons the lack of any further detail doesn't provide much help for A study of this type except to support a distinction being made in Scripture between demon possession and illness nine cases in the New Testament are described with enough detail to make possible some comparisons between them and Modern day phenomenon such as the Haitian Leo possession now. I want to say this that right there I think there's plenty of evidence But I think the Lord didn't give as much as maybe we would like because he wants us to be led by the Holy Spirit and A lot of it we learn by by doing and by gaining experience Ministering people but he says the synoptic Gospels Matthew Mark and Luke The authors include seven cases of demon possession in which some detail is given. These are the demoniac in the synagogue at Capernaum gathering demoniac Mark chapter 5 the other ones mark chapter 1 in Luke 4 the daughter of the Syrophoenician woman mark 7 in Matthew 15 the demonic boy mark 9 Matthew 17 the dumb man or deaf and dumb Matthew 9 Luke and Luke 11 The blind and dumb man Matthew 12 and then the crippled woman in Luke 13 now at some point in This class we will cover all these We're going to cover a lot of them today, but I wanted to start out again with just a reminder about this verse Ephesians 6 12 You couldn't state it more plainly that we wrestle not with flesh and blood he says But with but against rather principalities and powers and the ruins of the darkness of this world and get spiritual wickedness in high places or as we said before wicked spirits in heavenly places in our particularly in our atmosphere We've discussed that especially as we talked about binding and loosing last week now I do have a couple of quotes from the book of Enoch and I'm gonna state again Don't bother sending me stuff about the book of Enoch. I don't put it on the same level as Scripture But it is it kind of holds a place of its own and I do believe it holds correct information Just like I don't believe a history book Is on the same level of Scripture? But I do believe that some of our history books, you know contain correct information now one of the reasons I believe the book of Enoch is a Legitimate historical source is because we know that it was quoted by Jude who was the half-brother of Jesus
His book is in the Bible and he quotes the first chapter of Enoch one now the Enoch two and three forgeries but Enoch one he quotes word for word and said Enoch prophesied and so he was looking at what was Recorded in the book of Enoch as a prophetic utterance from the Lord and he recorded it Word for word in the book of Jude and of course the book of Enoch or Enoch one here Was found in the Dead Sea Scrolls. So It is an ancient book. It's not a medieval forgery. It is a very ancient book that was referred to and I believe that we see even the Lord Jesus and Some of the other apostles Peter even quoting from it almost word for word. So having said that I think we've lost some things in Translation there may be aspects of it in especially in later chapters of the book of Enoch that you know You'd have to call in the question. But again as as I say many times eat the hay Spit out the sticks. Okay, we have to do that with anything we read outside of Scripture outside of the 66 books we call the can now, let's read this. This is the book of Enoch chapter 15 verses 8 through 11 Talking about there's a difference between the fallen angels and what demon spirits are and I believe this to be true because I believe the Bible gives us also enough hints and clues that we can deduct this but Let's read this. Anyway, Enoch 15 8 through 11 says and now the Giants who are produced From the spirits and flesh shall be called evil spirits upon the earth and on the earth shall be their dwelling evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies because they were they are born from men and from the holy watchers or the Angels known as the sons of God and this was their beginning and their primal origin They shall be evil spirits on the earth and evil spirits. Shall they be called as for the spirits of the of heaven In heaven shall be their dwelling but as for the spirits of the earth which are born upon the earth The earth shall be their dwelling. Now listen this and the spirits of the Giants afflict Oppressed destroy attack do battle and work destruction on the earth and cause trouble It's very interesting here. So they take no food, but nevertheless they hunger and thirst Not interesting and they walk through Jesus said they walk through dry places seeking rest, but they find none right, and It says cause offenses and these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women because they have proceeded from them So I'd say that's a pretty accurate description of evil spirits. Now. Why do we believe? that this is True here because if we look here at two passages in the Bible here in the New Testament 2nd Peter chapter 2 4 through 5 and
June verse 6, of course, Jude is just one Chapter but Jude is also the book that quotes the book of Enoch word for word almost all of chapter 1 of Enoch But here it says this Will read 2nd Peter 2 4 3 5 verse 4 if God spared not the angels that sin But cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness to be reserved unto judgment And spared not the old world but saved no other the eighth person a preacher of righteousness Bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly So here says God spared not the angels that sin but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains This sounds as though that the fallen angels or at least a majority of them Were delivered into Chains into hell. So then what are we fighting out here now? I do believe there's some fallen angels that are loosed But he makes this statement here, too It says the angels this is Jude 6 and the angels was kept not their first estate but left their own habitation He hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. So It seems as though we see that there are the fallen angels at least I mean this these passages make it sound like all of them I don't know if it's all of them. We know Satan Lucifer, you know, we know he's still loose but This shows you then, you know, then what are these thousands and thousands and thousands or what are these unclean spirits? so I do believe in the realm of where you have principalities powers the rulers of the darkness of this world and Wicked spirits, I believe you're getting a breakdown that the principalities like we covered Last week are the fallen angel princes that have more authority than the unclean spirits, but that the unclean spirits are the disembodied spirits of the Giants who were the half-breaths now, I believe that You may not believe that there be people out there who disagree with me and not believe that that's fine But it doesn't really take away from the issue The Bible talks about foul spirits unclean spirits evil spirits. Those are terms used and in Jesus name the true born-again believer has power and authority to bind them and cast them out of people and Resist them and to make them flee and it really doesn't matter if you believe they're all fallen angels or you believe that There are some fallen angels and some Evil spirits that are the disembodied Spirits of the Giants either way. We have authority over them. Whatever they are Whatever they came from I'm just telling you what I believe I do believe that this in Enoch is valid Here's the other passage in the book of Enoch that I also believe to be
true profitable here Yeah, this is Enoch 10 11 through 13 He says and the Lord said unto Michael It's Michael the archangel one of the princes we covered him He said go bind some Jazza and his associates who have united themselves with women so as to have defiled themselves with them and all their uncleanness and when their sons have slain one another and They have seen the destruction of their beloved ones buying them fast for 70 generations in the valleys of the earth Till the day of judgment and of their const Consummation tell the judgment that is forever and ever is consummated in those days Shall they be led off to the abyss of fire and to the torment and the prison in which they shall be confined forever Now it sounds just like Peter and Jude or given us this right here But just in synopsis just kind of short shortened form here now some people may argue well Pastor Dean if you believe this if you believe This about the book of Enoch then it's really the only the 200 angels that sin and agreed together to corrupt the women and Consort with human women and produce a race of giants and maybe that's true. I'm just telling you these are what the verses say if there's obvious Even if we accept that it's still the Bible's telling us that there are angels that are chained the angels that sinned left their first estate and So it appears that Many of them some of them. I don't know, but I think it was important to just address this and There's more to be said about this, but we're gonna move on this morning. All right now we got all kind of accounts Of demon possession talked about now in the media. I'm gonna share just a little bit So, you know even the unsaid even the world is beginning to see this. Here's Fergie the singer I guess she was with the black eyed peas And then went out on her own. I think she still sings with the black eyed peas. Of course, she was a child Actor, you know star one of the kids shows way way back. I didn't know that till recently here This is a CBN news article from goodness. When was this just? 2017 so this is September 26 2017 Fergie says that I was seeing devils everywhere singer Fergie opens up about her personal struggle and how she found redemption Now I'm not sure she Found redemption. There's some questionable things here. But just the fact that she's acknowledging that she was seeing demons here So singer-songwriter Fergie Duhamel, I guess that's her name has achieved chart popping success worldwide as a female vocalist for the black eyed peas however Her most recent solo work a song entitled a little work takes a look at the 42 year old struggle against her personal demons
Well, she didn't say it was personal demons as if it was just her own, you know weird struggles She says I got to the point where I was seeing devils everywhere devil faces creatures that would appear to me and say fly fly fly Fergie says in the songs music video She said I would constantly be in a state of just listening to these characters or these demons or creatures What they were going to tell me what their messages were she had so She recalls a time when she almost had a panic attack in public You know in the end the story goes on now she says she ran into a church and she told the demons to go and she had this epiphany and All right, and I think there's one account where she says she called on Jesus. I you know, maybe she did maybe she didn't but Bottom line she said when she ran in this church and she cried out and I believe she did probably in a moment of Terror and pain cried out and you know, there was some relief there But she's by no means fully delivered after I especially even after I watched the video of this song I'm like this song is jacked up and I want you to look in the video And she goes in this church and I think in the video there's this again The video is not what the church she ran in or whatever. It's just you know, but the video is just disturbing Do you notice the upside-down cross? She's wearing right there. I would say there's still issues going on here, right? Now I won't say this about Fergie I didn't know until recently but there's evidence that some very bad things happened to her when she was a child Actress and actor or whatever in Hollywood and on that kids show and there's just some There's some evidence has come out and you know, of course I didn't you know, I was Not watching those kids shows back then so and of course her name was Something else but you know, they showed to her I was like wow, but she was definitely She was definitely abused I believe and she was definitely probably Taking through some satanic ritualistic abuse and she was if she's had this kind of success in the music industry then she's carried on with that and I have no doubt that she sees devils everywhere and that she was Struggles with demon possession. Um, did she get delivered? Probably not And if so, even if she cried out to the lord and found a little relief she still Obviously did not get completely free, especially if you watch this video Like I said, it's troubling but this kind of stuff it goes on in the media. There's some stuff articles from 2016 here's 180 children treated in hospital after outbreak of demonic possession in peruvian school where people say they had Visions of a man in black trying to kill them disturbing footage shows the children convulsing screaming and feigning Unfolded at pariah flores school
in northern peru built on a mafia graveyard Locals claimed the shocking scene was a mass case of demonic possession So there's there's one there's more stories three american friends It's not just overseas three american friends hospitalized after becoming possessed following Ouija board game in mexican village for an updated version of this article. It tells you to click it says alexandra herta Uh 22 reportedly playing with a ouija board in a mexican village joined by her brother sergio 23 an 18 year old cousin fernando Juaves or I don't know how you say that Anyway, but minutes into the game the trio apparently started acting in a trance like state alexandra began growling While her relatives were suffering hallucination The players were taken to a hospital where they were treated with painkillers. This was in 2014. Now, let me say this Um just as a testimony here This happened. I was a youth pastor in a church many many years ago And I had instructed this the young people and I had I had young people in this youth group from probably 13 to 13 to 19, you know And uh at that time, I think there was probably about 50 or 60 in the youth group And I had warned them about playing with occult stuff and particularly I had warned them about playing with the ouija board And there was this one girl named jamie who was friends with my cousin karen and They did a sleepover jamie went and did a sleepover at some of her friends from school at their house one weekend And they played with the ouija board Well, she came to church the following wednesday night And we had youth meetings on tuesday. She didn't show up on tuesday And so she came to the regular wednesday night church service And i'm in the church service, you know, the pastor's preaching and and i'm just sitting in the sanctuary in the service and a bunch of the teenagers run in there and say you you got to come out here quick jamie is Freaking out, you know, they knew she was demonstrating demon possession So I go into What had been the previous sanctuary now is you know, I guess it by then turned into like the chapel And I go in there and the there's a bunch of the youth group and some of the guys trying to hold her And this little 15 year old girl 16, whatever she was she is flinging these two big old boys That are football players around like they're little rag dolls and growling and uh voices coming out of her like, uh Shouldn't be coming out of a 15 year old girl I mean it was and so when you walked up and when you looked in her eyes, it looked like cat's eyes You know look like those slits uh, and And she was growling and hissing and so of course I looked at everybody and every all the the teenagers are gathered around. They're all just freaking out. They're just like
Scared to death shaking in their boots and I looked at all of them and I said this is why I told you I said this right here and they told me they said oh she played with the Ouija board this weekend I said I told you and so we had to go and uh take her to my office And some uh, some of the adults came out of the service but uh and just observed but uh got her to uh bound the demons got them to calm down got her to confess her sin of divination witchcraft playing with the Ouija board And then we bound the demons that came in and it was pretty dramatic. It was seven powerful spirits That came out of her evil spirits that came out of her As we bound them and commanded them to come out divination witchcraft sorcery rebellion so far we bound those demons and uh Commanded them come out and um, it was dramatic. It was pretty clear. So this is for me. It's it's not just a This article here from 2014 about the Ouija board causing demon possession. It's not just the article I have seen it with my own eyes more than once Even when I played with the Ouija board as a teenager when I finally prayed over that bound the demons Of divination familiar spirits and so on that I acquired from playing with the Ouija board I felt them come up and out of me I felt them leave when I bound them and commanded them to go in Jesus name. So this is real anybody unsaved saved born again, it doesn't matter if you play with Sin and particularly you play with the occult world or sexual sin You're going to open doors to demons and we're going to deal with doorways next week, but in more detail Here's another article distressing footage shows possessed girl 15 thrashing around and growling as pastors Are called to perform exorcism video shows teenager crying while two men attempt to restrain her According to her parents the girl had threatened to kill her mother Uh family appealed to ministers to help rid their daughter of evil spirit And of course it says distressing footage of this 15 year old girl thrashing around on the ground while purportedly being possessed by an evil spirit Has emerged online. This was march 2016 We're not talking about stuff years ago I mean, this is just in the recent years here Of course, i'm going to bring this one up here and i'm just going to say Again at the outset because we're going to post this On youtube this teaching today But uh, look I don't i'm not one that believes every mass shooting is a hoax and that nobody dies Um, I know there's been hoaxes. I know there's been Crisis actors, so don't try to tell me every single one is because I just don't buy it What is interesting about this story of the virginia tech massacre the mother of this individual the shooter Says that she knew her son had demons
I mean, this is the mother. Is she a crisis actor too? But anyway, it says virginia tech massacre did not have to happen His mother is a christian who knew her son had demons Summer of 2006 she asked 10 churches to deliver him from demons They all refused Now maybe i'm not going to blame all the churches on this. Maybe He didn't didn't exhibit any desire Himself to be free from these things and that is important. But april 16th, 2007 32 die at his hand Let's read a little bit of this article This is a washington post article from 2007 I guess his name hyening cho Was so desperate to find help for her silent angry son that she sought out some Members of one mind church in woodbridge to heal him of what the church's head pastor called demonic power But before the church could act late last summer Sang hai hui cho Had to return to virginia tech to start his senior year said reverend dong Kioli minister of the presbyterian congregation I don't know that presbyterians really have deliverance ministries and cast out demons But the article goes on to say cho's family has said nothing publicly about his medical history His academic performance or anything else that might explain what drove him to kill nevertheless Hanging cho his mother knew last year that her son was troubled before finding one mind She had gone to several other congregations of various denominations seeking help according to officials at several Northern virginia churches quote his problem needed to be solved by spiritual power Said lee whose church members met with cho And his mother that's why she came to our church because we were helping several people like him those churchgoers told Hanging in cho that her son was afflicted by demonic power and needed deliverance And i'm just gathering from this. She did find a church that believed in deliverance and casting out demons, but again the person Has to be willing and you know want to submit to it and Obviously being in college as a senior. He was of age so Mom and church can only go so far in trying to get A young person to uh deal with their Demonic problems. It has to be something they desire and we'll we'll talk more about that As we get into this now, let's look at The book of ephesians here chapter two. This is a very interesting verse lets you know You know Again, like I said my pastor dr. Larry lee many years ago said in his seminary classes at southwestern theological seminary in fort worth texas one of the Baptist Seminaries said that the professors would teach that Demons are not active in north america. It's one of the most ridiculous statements i've ever heard Here's what the bible says about this especially in the unsafe. All right when you are unsafe
now Remember paul is writing this under inspiration the holy spirit and he's writing to If you go to ephesians one, it says he's writing to the saints and to those who are faithful in christ. Jesus So he's talking to true born again christians here He says and you speaking to these true born again Christians he says and you hath he jesus quickened made alive Who were dead in trespasses and sins? So he's saying he's speaking to people who have been born again Through faith in jesus in his blood shed on the cross in his resurrection And who have repented and been truly born again truly saved So he says you hath he quickened made alive your spirit man has been regenerated made alive Who were dead in trespasses and sins wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world So you walked according to the way the world walks the way the unsaved live But then he added this according to the prince Of the power of the air which is a reference to satan to the evil spirits to the demons to the devil the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience Everybody see that The spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. So the bible says if you are not saved If you are not born again You better count on the fact that you're walking according to the course of this world according to the prince of the power of the air And that spirit is working not on you not around you not behind trees and bushes It's in you Okay, and i'm going to show from the book of isaiah as we get through this study this morning that all of us especially in our Life and our even as christians through our sinful actions and uh We've opened doors to demons and all of us are snared in holes in hidden prison houses And that's why I believe that every person even after they become a christian that getting saved is not Where it all ends that you know, a lot of people think that you get saved and if you you know The demons you acquired when you were unsaved all of them leave you and vanish and that's just not the way it works Um, a christian also needs to go through the deliverance process and we're going to address that in this But just wanted you to see that the bible is very clear that demons are in people who are lost Who are walking according to the course of this world according to satan power principles? And things and all it takes is, you know playing with the ouija board playing with the occult fortune teller sexual sin fornication adultery Any you know playing with false religion buddhism hinduism there's all kind of things freemasonry And we're going to cover all those but uh, let's let's move on into some more scriptures here
Um, you know going back and looking at the uh, the virginia tech killer We shouldn't be surprised that demon possession Influences violence and even murderous actions. We see this here. This is first. Samuel 19 talking about king saw And when king saw got into disobedience and sin and rebellion against the lord It says an evil spirit came and began to trouble him And really it began to possess him. But we're just going to read first. Samuel 19 8 through 10 We'll refer back to this later But I want you to show how when saw came under the influence of this Evil spirit he tried to kill david with with the javelin I mean literally tried to murder him but says that there was war again and david went out and fought with the philistines And slew them with a great slaughter and they fled from him and an evil spirit from the lord was upon saw And when it says from the lord, it just means the lord permitted it to happen He didn't protect saw because saw was in sin saw was given place So an evil spirit from the lord was upon saw as he said in his house with his javelin in his hand And david played with his hand And saw sought to smite david even to the wall with the javelin But he slipped out of Away out of saw's presence and he smoked the javelin into the wall And david fled and escaped that night. So Uh saw through the javelin so hard that it stuck in the wall. He was trying he was trying to kill david But it's clear here. He was being vexed. He was under the influence possessed controlled By an evil spirit cannot deny that I believe we we have a lot of scripture it points to Someone that comes under the control of an evil spirit Through sin through willful sin through opening doorways Uh or yielding to satan's thoughts and temptations That these demons come in and they do want to murder and cause harm and that's this is first. John chapter 3 11 through 16 says for this is the message that she heard from the beginning That we should love one another not as kane Remember kane killed able able his brother But notice what it says here not as kane who was of that wicked one And slew his brother and wherefore why did kane? uh Why and wherefore slew him or why did kane kill him because his own works were evil and his brothers were righteous If you go back to the story It says god said kane told kane that uh sin lieth at the door denises chapter 4 And the picture that sin had taken embodiment as is an animal like a lion crouched and ready to pounce and he warned Him he said you're about to open the door and what did he open the door to first? He opened the door to satan satan came into kane and then kane Took action And that's why it says here whosoever Hated his brother is a murderer. You know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him But he just uses the illustration of kane who was
Of that wicked one. He opened the door to satan through his sin of jealousy anger hatred Bitterness and he opened that doorway And the demons came in satan came in and it resulted in violence murder um Again, not surprising that this should be here. Jesus told us this about The devil and demons and this desire to kill in the murder in john 8 40 through 44 Jesus is speaking to the pharisees as he's been arguing with them for some time And he tells them he says but now you seek to kill me A man that had told you the truth, which I have heard of god. This did not abraham You do the deeds of your father then said they to him. We'd be not born of fornication We have one father even god And jesus said and if god were your father you would love me for I proceeded forth and came from god Neither came I of myself, but he sent me Why do you not understand my speech even because you cannot hear my word? You are of your father the devil and the lust of your father you will do he was a murderer from the beginning And abode not in the truth because there is no truth in him when he speaketh a lie He speaketh of his own for he is a liar and the father of it. So jesus says The reason you want to kill me pharisees Is because you are doing the the lust and the desire of your father the devil so A suicide spirit a spirit of whether it be self-murder or murder or violence. It's it's obvious That demonic forces are working Jesus makes the connection we see the apostle john made the connection in first john and we see the connection from Samuel And let's keep going here. Let's look here at matthew 17 15 through 20. I just want to read this Because children are not exempt generational curses and sins of the parents Whether intentionally or whether even through ignorance Sometimes it comes down from the third and fourth generation But children are not exempt from being vexed tormented afflicted controlled possessed by demons This is matthew 17 15 through 20 they brought jesus this uh boy that was possessed and The father says lord have mercy on my son for he is a lunatic and sore vexed For oft times he followed into the fire and often to the water And I brought him to die disciples and they could not cure him And jesus answered said oh faithless and perverse generation. How long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you bring him hither to me? And jesus rebuked the devil and he departed out of him and the child was cured from that very hour Then came the disciples to jesus apart said why could not we cast him out? Jesus said and then because of your unbelief
Or verily I say unto you if you have faith as the grain of a mustard seed You shall say to this mountain remove hints to yonder place and it shall remove and nothing shall be impossible to you So jesus was saying your unbelief and of course he goes on to tell them Mark 9 he talks about That really the spirits the evil spirits were trying to the evil spirits were trying to They were the ones trying to throw get the boy to throw himself into the water in the fire to kill himself Um, so again, we see that the spirit of suicide we call it suicide, but a lot of times it's just demonic possession vexation control Pushing people to do these things But jesus, you know had to tell them look if you guys are going to deal with this and there's something you need to understand As born again believers where we're not going to be able to do this If we don't operate in faith faith in god's word about it and if we don't build up our faith by Prayer and fasting and being in the word of god um we can we can be believers and And technically be given the authority and the power to bind and cast out demons But there are some situations like this one some of the more powerful more difficult situations with people um It's not going to it's not going to happen And even though maybe we've done it in the past and seen success. We're going to run into situations that we better be Prayed up and have fasted if we're going to deal with them Thoroughly, so let's keep going here All right. Here's uh, matthew 8 16 through 17. I think we've been Had this verse last week this passage, but again, we read from the seminary paper a minute ago About that. This was a normal activity in jesus life and ministry And of course matthew chapter 8. This is when he goes to peter's house and heals peter's Mother-in-law She was had a fever And he rebuked the fever and it left and then Of course, jesus has been teaching and preaching and ministering that day And of course when people heard that he was at peter's house a bunch of people gathered that evening And when the evening was come they brought unto him many Many that were possessed with devils And he cast out the spirits with his word and healed all that were sick That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by isaiah the prophet saying himself took our infirmities and bear our sicknesses. So This is again just making the point. This is something that jesus did regularly, but we want to look at this word Possessed here. Okay Because we get confused sometimes because we don't pay attention we let You know the exorcist and linda blair and some of these other these newer demon possession movies make us think that everybody is you know That's demon has a demon is their head spinning around and they're spitting pea soup and they're growling and
That's not what we see the bible clearly gives Clear definition of what it means to be possessed the word possessed what it means and that there are degrees of Quote possession. So let's look at Matthew 8 here where it says that many that were possessed with devils were brought to jesus It means to just simply hear the outline of biblical usage To be under the power of a demon the strongs Dahi mo need so by do I mean dahi mo need zone Ahi, I guess that's how you say it was a long one there Here the definition in the strongs greek dictionary. It says to be exercised by a demon Have a demon be vexed with a demon be possessed with devils, so vexed possessed Be under the power the influence Of a demon it doesn't mean you're totally in in all cases. You're totally controlled. So let's Let's look. Of course here is the Thayer's it goes on to say to be under the power of a demon a person afflicted especially with severe diseases either bodily or mental such as paralysis blindness deafness loss of speech epilepsy melancholy insanity Whose bodies in the opinion of the jews demons had entered And so held the possession of them as not to afflict them with ills, but also to dethrone reason and to take its place uh Take its place themselves according to uh, the possessed or want to be expressed the mind of consciousness of the demons and dwellings So he's saying the demons would also speak and manifest through people But here are the degrees of demon possession. Let's look at we're going to look at all these passages here Those were not going fast in class But three degrees of demon possession now i'll put that in quotes because again We think of possession always we define it in our heads as in english. We think it means total control and dominion But that's not always the case. It's it's in degrees and it can get to the place of total control and dominion The three cases we have here. The first one is a daughter of abraham had one demon Luke 13 11 through 17. She had a spirit of infirmity. We're going to turn there read that Jesus cast that spirit out. She was healed Right of her infirmity The bible tells us in luke 8 1 through 3. Mary Magdalene had seven demons. That was very clear The disciples saw that seven demons left her And then though we have the gathering demoniac in mark 5 who was what we would call totally demon possessed You know crying living in the tombs Cutting himself with stones, you know running around naked. They try to chain him up. He could break the chains I mean this is the kind of thing that that
This this level of deception. We don't see most of these people because they're locked up in mental institutions. That's what The world does with them and now the church cast them to the world and that's where they don't get help But let's look at each one of these just so you see the bible passage on it. This is uh This is the woman that had one demon. She had a spirit of infirmity. She was a daughter of abraham and let me say this You see jesus making it very clear when he was casting demons out See when jesus said i'm not sent to the but to the lost sheep of the house of israel. He didn't mean forever He just meant here in this season He was sent to those to minister to those who were all in Under the blood covenant of god the old covenant that was still intact until he died on the cross and rose from the dead So jesus made it clear, you know, he he ministered primarily during the synagogue and cast out demon And he this story makes it clear that this was a daughter of abraham. So she was a blood covenant israelite so We would say that person is a christian now anyone under the blood covenant of god the new covenant now the blood covenant the blood of jesus Would say we'd say yeah we're we're children of abraham now because through the blood of jesus and Faith in his death and resurrection. We are children of abraham But anyway, it says been behold. There was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity 18 years And was bowed together and could no wise lift up herself. So this was some type of crippling disease probably some severe form of arthritis is my guess When jesus saw her he called on her and said and her woman thou art loosed from thine infirmity now This is a spirit. He said this is an evil spirit. This is a demon causing this And he says you are loosed from this So here we see, you know, we talked about last week binding and loosing. We bind the demons We loose people we can command the demons to loose or let go of people I've seen demons with their claws into people and i've told them to loose them and let them go And it says jesus and he jesus laid hands on her and immediately she was made straight and glorified god Of course the pharisees didn't like it the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation Because that jesus had healed on the sabbath day and said unto the people There are six days in which men ought to work and them therefore come and be healed and not on the sabbath day Of course, jesus rebukes him says you hypocrite Does not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall and lead him away to watering And ought not this woman be in the daughter of abraham whom satan hath bound lo these eighteen years be loosed On this bond on the sabbath day. I mean do you hear the ridiculous religious spirit Working there. It's just quite Amazing, but she had one demon. She wasn't she wasn't the gathering demoniac in the tunes living You know crying and cutting herself with stones She just had a stronghold in her physical body
Causing her and she was bound by satan Through this demonic stronghold of infirmity and it was affecting her physical body And so jesus commanded that demon to lose her And go from her and and she was healed because of that deliverance I've seen this happen as well Uh, you like my little demons up there I put seven of them because here we go. Luke eight and it came to pass afterward That he went through every city and village preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom and the twelve were with him Jesus and it says in certain women Which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities. Mary called Magdalene out of whom went seven devils so here we have Mary Magdalene We went from the woman in loop 13 that had one demon To Mary Magdalene here is obviously she had seven demons I wish we had this whole story And and wish we had how jesus sat down and ministered to her and how they knew it was seven that came out of her But we don't but I can say I have experienced similar Deliverance sessions over the years binding demons and casting them out of people um, so And there were times you could tell how many left Right Let's keep going here And here's the mark chapter five now. Here's where we get to what I call the degree or level of total demon possession and this is obviously someone who just continued to open doors Or maybe had some more severe generational sins in his second third fourth generation back Um, but anyway, this is the gatorine This is mark chapter five and they came over onto the other side of the sea and to the country of the gatorines And when he was come out of the ship immediately, they met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit Who had his dwelling among the tombs so he lived basically like a homeless person he lived lived out in the tombs outside and Among the tombs and said no man could bind him No, not with chains because that he had often he had been often bound with fetters and chains So they tried to control him And the chains had been plucked asunder by him and the fetters broken in pieces neither could any maintain him And always night and day he was in the mountains and the tombs crying and cutting himself with stones, isn't it? And there's a new epidemic, you know people cutting themselves. That is demon possession But anyway To an interesting supernatural strength Um uncontrollable Crying. I mean, this is somebody that the world and even most of the church would label is mentally insane Um, no one wants to say that Anymore that it's really just full-blown demon possession going on here. The story goes on to say this is important I want to emphasize this
Even with this individual being totally demon possessed When jesus came and I believe this this has happened in my own life I've walked up on people who were totally demon possessed and the demons would talk to them And they would say they knew me, you know, and we never met before and our I had you know They would tell me something like that And I knew we were dealing with a demon, but um, you always want to make sure that the person desires freedom There are people out there that desire to have their demons they desire to stay in their sin their wickedness But this right here says verse 6 matthew 5 6 but uh, I mean Mark 5 6 but when He the man saw jesus afar off. He ran and worshiped him This right here shows that the man Wanted freedom says he not the demons Ran into jesus to worship and the demons won't worship jesus. They won't run and bow to jesus. No The man did so the man showed a desire To be healed to be free And he he I guess just instinctively knew This is jesus and maybe he'd heard of jesus You know jesus fame by this time had gone out all over the place So here's what happened though. So the man runs to jesus. He sees jesus. He runs to him He worships him And then cried with and cried with a loud voice and said what have I to do with you? Jesus thou son of the most high god. I adjure thee by god that thou torment me not So here it switches from the man who runs to jesus and worships him then the demons start talking through it and i've seen this happen All the demons don't torment for jesus said said come out of the man thou unclean spirit meaning jesus had already said Come out of him This is what was tormenting the demons that jesus was starting the deliverance process and this was bringing them pain But the demon didn't come out immediately Remember it says here for he said unto him Come out of the man thou unclean spirit And meaning jesus went on further. He asked him. What is thy name? And the answer saying my name is legion for we are many So jesus has to probe the situation a little bit. He finds out it's not one demon It's a legion of demons. He found out his name's name legion So once he finds out his name, then he's exposed is weakened By that and jesus is teaching us something here that we have to find out we have to identify These demons and sometimes we identify them by getting them to tell us their name And sometimes we just identify them by what they're doing to the person or how they got in but there's ways to identify them And it says that he besought him much That he would not send them away out of the country
Now there was nine to the mountains a great herd of swine feeding and all the devils besought him saying send us into the swine That we may enter into them and forthwith jesus gave them leaves and the unclean spirits went out of course, they entered into the swine and The herd of swine ran violently down a deep place into the sea and they were about two thousand and they were choked in the sea And they that fed the swine fled and told it in the city and in the country And they went out to see what was done and they come to jesus and they see him that was possessed with the devil and had the legion Sitting and clothed and in his right mind and they were afraid And they saw they that saw it told them how it befell him that was possessed with the devil And also concerning the swine and they began to pray him to depart out of their coast and when he was coming to the ship He that had been possessed with the devil Prayed that he might be with him. And of course, jesus tells him no you go home and tell your friends what great things God has done for you. So This is a powerful story of total demon possession and somebody getting completely free I mean you're talking about when you read that right there That he that was possessed with the devil and had the legion That he was sitting clothed And in his right mind Boy, isn't there a lot of people that need to be in their right mind now They need to be delivered. They are not in their right mind. That's one of the signs of a demon possessed person They're not in their right mind All right, do stupid things make stupid decisions um And just compound the problems over and over Let's look at this where the bible the bible uses some interesting Word here when it comes talking about People that have evil spirits. This is luke seven and luke eight. Let's read luke 7 21. It says and in that same hour he jesus cured many of their infirmities and plagues Cured many rather of their infirmities plagues and evil spirits And unto many that were blind he gave sight but notice it says he cured people of infirmities Right sickness and disease plagues another More serious form of sickness and disease, right? And then it says cured Of evil spirits cured All right Here's luke eight two certain women which had been healed of evil spirits So the bible here talks about being cured and healed of evil spirits The word here both words cured and healed is the same greek word And uh, let's see if I can pronounce it. They're up you oh they're up you oh Sound like a word we have therapy It's the root word we have for therapy Um, I think it's very interesting. Of course, it means to relieve of disease to cure to heal
But it means to wait upon meaningly now what's interesting about that notice it says here To serve due service to heal cure restore to health And when it says here to wait upon meaningly it's like a waiter or a waitress Or a servant what's interesting with people that are Vexed with demons tormented by demons have demon strongholds in them You know, it takes time. What i'm saying is you have to be a servant. It takes time to Minister to them and you have to be willing to take the time And sometimes it's a process and you you really do have to have a servant's heart and you really do have to be willing to take time and spend time and so I found that interesting because I've been Doing that for many years and I spent many hours many many many many hours sitting down talking with people that are tormented vexed at different degrees of demonic torment and possession and vexation and Um, you sometimes you gotta sit on you gotta find out, you know, why why did this happen? How did it begin? How did it all get in there, you know, and And you find out things and then you're able to help them and it's I think of one of the reasons not only there's many churches and pastors and christians They don't do this. They don't fool with this ministry is because It is a lot of work and it takes a lot of time and um You know for some of them, of course, it's just unbelief They just don't believe the bible and they don't act on the scriptures and to me it's To me if you don't address this as a as a pastor as a church or as a minister of the gospel If this is not part of your ministry to me, I just believe you're just You're showing you don't care about people because people have these problems. This is a common demon possession vexation torment demonic strongholds is a common every day problem for Many if not all we could say all And it is it has to be part of the ministry. It was part of jesus ministry It was part of the apostles ministry and jesus said it's supposed to be part of the church's ministry Um to ignore it just you just basically saying we don't care about This this group of people that are having this problem Let's just shove them to psychologists and psychiatrists so they can either put them on Pills pharmacia sorcery and further screw up their minds or make them commit suicide or lock them away in Mental institutions so we don't have to deal with and that's what's happened. I think we're going to find out a lot of a lot of blood is on people going to be on the church's hands because we didn't At least try to help people that are having these problems But here's the word Of course to heal the cure look to serve notice what it says here About jesus cured and heal those of evil spirit to serve do service to
You're willing to take the time to serve and do service So that you can see these people healed and restored to health whether that's mental health See, I don't believe I don't believe mental problems are An imbalance a chemical imbalance they in fact scientist. Dr. Peter Bregan. He um You know, he's an expert. He's not even a christian. He's an expert at Uh psychotropic drugs. He's been a psychiatrist. He's harvard graduate john hopkins I mean the whole nine yards and the guy flat out just says that There's for no reason at any time should people be put on these medications and psychotropic drugs antidepressants Bipolar medication going down the line He says they do brain damage. It's brain damage and he says there is no scientific proof of evidence that Mental like emotional problems depression and all this is caused by some kind of chemical imbalance Um now granted even if there is a physical problem going on in the brain um as we see with the scriptures that we're going through that satan demons It caused physical problems in the body um But still I mean I like I said, dr. Peter Bregan. That's b-r-e-g-g-i-n. He's worth looking up. Uh He especially when it comes to him He's an absolute expert on on these drugs and on psychiatry and counseling and uh in the secular arena And he says don't touch the drugs Don't touch them stay away from them. No one he says no one at any time for any reason Should take these things why because it's really a spiritual problem and then these christians need to be sitting down with people and trying to Heal them and restore them to health in jesus name by the power of jesus And by yes binding and driving out casting out demons It's part of it and a lot of times again It's not some dramatic thing where there's any kind of big manifestation. You just have to do it You just have to sit down and find out where a person's being tormented Why how did this get in? Is it generational? Is it a door they open? Is it a sin? They need to confess and repent of and then we deal with the demonic spirit But it takes time Here's the word again in uh Just the definition of therapy the word we get Uh from that greek word there treatment intended to relieve or heal a disorder Look what it says there the second definition the treatment of mental or psychological disorders by psychological means Well, this is what christians when jesus when jesus healed people of evil spirits. I want to back up When jesus see the word here, this is let me back up again the greek word therapeutic Therapeu where we get the word therapy means to cure
to heal to relieve of disease to restore to health This is what jesus was talking about these verses That same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues and of evil spirits. He cured them of evil spirits Instead of certain women that had been healed of evil spirit how therapy but bible therapy not worldly secular therapy Bible therapy is casting out demons in jesus name Okay That's the therapy they need Now granted they have to be willing to submit It's again human beings. I believe in free will I believe every human being has a free will so they have to want And they have to desire and they have to be willing To do the work themselves what they need to do but It's therapy. This is And isn't it amazing the words and that the world we basically the church handed over the world here you do our job And they don't they don't have the power the authority or the supernatural power and authority of jesus name to do it And that's why they are miserable failures at it Yeah, and it was pastor. Kevin said the church has done that in a lot of areas. Yep We pass it off to the world. So you see it. There it is their opio therapy to cure people of evil diseases So christian therapies to cast out demons There it is I mean it's it's in the bible But oh lord forbid we should do what's in the bible, right? Luke 4 18 through 19 Jesus said here the spirit of the lord is upon me because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted That's emotional problem Brokenheartedness is a real thing to preach Deliverance to the captives now, why did he say first to preach deliverance? because It's by preaching this truth that brings faith and understanding so people can get to the point where they can Do what needs to be done to receive it Goes on to say preach deliverance to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind and then look what he says to set at liberty them that are bruised the word bruised is traumatized Uh who have faced trauma to preach the acceptable year of the lord So we're to preach deliverance to the captives and then we're to set at liberty So why because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of god. That's what romans Chapter 10 says so faith comes by hearing Hearing by the word of god. So we preach deliverance first. We teach on it. We preach on it
So people hear the word the faith is built in them And then you can set them at liberty once they have faith for this Too many people. I think jumped too quickly Um, I had you know One of the students that we did had to we've only had to boot one student Out of school. Of course, they say they were leaving but But they were going to continue the school and I said no, uh, you're not because There were some issues but one student You know got his panties in a wad because He thought I should jump on a situation and do deliverance when I knew the guy wasn't even where near ready Nor did I know anything about him and I don't operate that way nor did jesus so um You take time To preach and teach it first And you find out where people are because you know, you could do people more harm You just run into a situation. I'm gonna cast demons out of somebody half cocked and you don't know Where they are. You don't know if they're born again or not. You don't know if they want it or not You don't know if they're serious You're going to do more harm to them and we're going to get into those passages here in a minute um and that prideful arrogant Individuals going to get somebody killed because he's got just enough knowledge to be dangerous, but he hadn't got any wisdom or experience And uh, he's about to get somebody killed. So this is not something you play around with. All right Uh, look at some more scriptures acts 10 38 It says how god anointed jesus of nazareth with the holy ghost and with power who went about doing good And healing all that were oppressed of the devil for god was with him. So jesus went about notice it says again healing Those who were oppressed of the devil I mean this should be This should be a huge part of What we pursue as the church as ministers Here's what the word oppress means though. Interesting isn't it? A different word from possession cat ad ooh nama to you. Oh, I don't even know how to say it uh, and I probably could just Destroy that but anyway the outline of biblical usage here from multiple lexicons to exercise harsh control over one to use one's power against to oppress one To exercise dominion against now, what is dominion dominion is authority rule This is important because people people get these stupid ideas in their head And it just really annoys me. Well Can't play oppressed but not posessed Again, you're trying to apply english thoughts definitions of words to greek We know bible words that were originally written in greek or hebrew. It doesn't work. All right
Here it almost it's almost the exact same thing when it says here to exercise dominion to exercise authority or rule For the devil or demons to have power to oppress posez vex torment push provoke control they have to have Authority, they have to have right they have to have place And that's what this is talking about Oppression is a bad thing. I mean the term oppression is used when You see the the slaves in egypt or the bible talk about oppressing the poor. What's it talking about? When it talks about the rich oppressing the poor that talks about they the rich have some kind of power and authority to afflict and control and manipulate the poor Like when the israelites were slaves in egypt they were Under they they had no power. They were under the power authority control ruled dominion Of the egyptians and they needed supernatural power to get them out of that. I mean they had no power of their own So the word oppress here is not somehow lighter than or different than the word posess Or vexed or to be demonized or to be exercised By a demon it literally means to be under their harsh control authority Dominion or where because they have legal right in your life somewhere To have that stronghold or that so stop with the Christian cliches that have no basis in reality, okay Just trying to help you We don't know we have a ton of christian cliches. I mean they're just And and we we take them as gospel because they've just been repeated so many times Uh, but here it is again the thayer's greek lexicon of this word oppressed in acts 1038 Says here to exercise harsh control over to use one's power against one to oppress one so Say well, i'm i believe christians can be oppressed and not possessed you're just playing Semantics in english you're not discussing anything. That's biblical Okay Now a christian can have we can have a war that is from the outside that feels the same But a lot of times if we open a doorway and give satan lego, right? We're dealing with something that's a stronghold that's moved in whether into the body Into the soul or even can into the spirit if we do the right, you know, if we mess with the wrong The wrong thing we can open a door all the way to the spirit man Just to show you where this continued on with the apostles and acts and the ministry of the church Let's look at this axe. This is into axe. So this is axe chapter five
verses 12 through 16 Says by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people And they were all with one accord in solomon's porch and the rest there's no man joined himself to them But the people magnified them And believers were the more added to the lord multitudes both men and women In so much that they brought forth the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and couches that at least the shadow Of peter passing by might overshadow them There came also a multitude Everybody sees a multitude there came a multitude out of the cities round about Unto jerusalem bringing sick folks and them which were vexed With unclean spirits and they were healed everyone so those who were sick had infirmities and those who Had were vexed with unclean spirits tormented demonized oppressed possessed controlled harsh Control and authority of demons were healed delivered of them Now this was a mighty revival. Oh that we have a revival again like this where multitudes come out And that everyone gets healed and delivered I long for it to see this kind of revival again But let's keep going. Let's look at this word vexed Very interesting word outline of biblical usage here in blue letter bible so taken from multiple verses multiple lexicons Acleo is the word to mob to harass to vex To excite a mob against one to disturb roll away to trouble molest To be in confusion and uproar to be vexed molested troubled by demons To excite a mob against one it says in the thayers to disturb roll away to trouble molest To be in confusion and uproar to be vexed molested or troubled by demons. Everybody see that So to be vexed the same word Basically, basically if you say the word if you say possessed oppressed vexed tormented Controlled pushed Manipulated You know, it's all the same. It's all just just different words to describe The same thing All right Now what did jesus say to us as his? disciples his believers his followers It's two things here that apply to us today. I know there's churches and seminaries that teach that these things don't apply to us today They are liars It's real simple. They're just deceived or they're infiltrated But here's what jesus said john 14 12 Verily verily or truly truly I say unto you he that believeth on me The works that I do shall he do also and greater works than these shall he do because I go into my father So what jesus is saying here the works that I do you shall do also jesus cast out demons out of people
And brought healing to them through casting out demons So should we these signs shall follow and that's why mark 16 is that jesus said? And these signs shall follow them that believe in my name They shall cast out devils So this is the ministry that should continue in the church. He said well pastor dean. It hasn't continued in In my life or my church. Well, it's something you have to pursue you have to desire You have to earnestly desire these things you have to pray for these things you have to ask For wisdom and understanding and god to guide you and then you have to step out in faith and And begin to bind demons and cast them out and pray for people and And it should come out of a season of fasting and prayer And but there comes a point where you're you're going to have to step out in faith and do it Just do it as nike said years ago. Just do it, right? And that that was the point I mean, you know There were situations when I was a young believer that I just had to end up stepping out and Dealing with and had to learn things as I went um but If something god wants us to do it's not something he wants us to go. Oh, well, i'm not called to do that That's somebody else's job. That's a lie. That's just a lie. Where do you see that in the bible? I'm not called to cast demons out. That's like saying i'm not called to preach the gospel and witness Yeah, it's not. Yeah, joel osteen. That's not my ministry What is your ministry? I know we know what joel osteen's is It's motivational speaking. It has nothing to do with casting out demons healing the sick Bible prophecy, I mean none of those things. He's like that's not my ministry Oh Lord help us. Jesus. That's just so many crazy, but I hear you think you think we laugh and say that's joel osteen But I hear christians say stuff all the time All that oh, it's not what i'm not called to do that brother What? Are you a christian? Yeah. Well, guess what the same bible I read you better start reading it You better start doing what it says Um, this is not relegated casting out demons healing the sick Is not relegated just to fivefold ministers or pastors No, this is for the body of crisis should be doing this. Listen, I need more people in our church doing it Because I i've got a list i've got a list of people I got to get to To do deliverance. I need more. It's time. I got to start passing the baton to some folks um And and really I hear this from people all over even churches and that have deliverance ministry say that they usually they are Overworked and understaffed, you know when it comes to that. They just don't have enough people That are equipping themselves and pursuing this to learn how to do it and stepping out to do it There's just not enough people doing it Versus the demand or the need that's out there because the need is tremendous
But again, that's what jesus said. So let's uh, Let's go on here. This is in luke 4 And I just found this interesting and said this years ago We're gonna kind of we're kind of shifting gears now into showing you That yes Even christians have demons in them and I say in them that must be cast out of them a christian can have a demon Again, that doesn't mean total demon possession like the gatherene demoniac uh, but after 30 plus years of Doing the ministry and counseling people I can assure you christians have demons I mean i've just seen it too many times and christians are struggling with the same thing the world struggles with And it's time to just confront the issues Um, but when it says when it says he came to set the captives free Jesus said he came to preach deliverance to the captives and set at liberty. Those are the word captives There in luke chapter 4 where jesus was saying that Here is the greek definition of that word and notice what it says down here a prisoner of war prisoner of war now Let's say this if american troops go to war against russian troops Or american troops go to war against chinese troops, right? and Who becomes prisoners of war if if if you're on the russian side and you get captured by the americans You were a prisoner of war you're captured by the other side right But you were on a different side And remember when we have satan you have satan and the demon spirits and fallen angels on one side you have jesus On the other side if you're a prisoner of war that means You were on the other side And you got captured and you're held by the enemy side I just thought that was just an interesting definition prisoner of war Think about that Now let's look at that. Let's look and i've said this and we're going to talk about That we really should not cast demons out of unsaved people thus And when I say that most people over the years have just freaked out because they think because they've been taught It's been drilled in their head by their churches christian can't have a demon christian can't have a demon christian can't have a demon Therefore the only people can have demons unsaved But jesus showed what happens here if you cast demons out of somebody who's not saved What happens let's look at Jesus said this in matthew 12 43 through 45. He said when the unclean spirit is gone out of a man He walked through dry places seeking rest and findeth none Then he saith I will return into my house from whence I came out And when he has come he findeth it empty swept and garnished
Then goeth he and takeeth with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself and they enter in and dwell there and the last state Of that man Is worse than the first even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation So jesus say when the unclean spirit's gone out of a man that means somebody that that means a demon's been cast out How did the demon get out? Let's look at this. Let's break it down. So how did the demon Get cast out Well, the only way to cast a demon out of anybody is to bind it in jesus name and command it to leave in jesus Name, there's no such I know the catholic church and I mean i've even I even saw a video where jewish Rabbis are trying to do and i'm not talking about christian jewish rabbis, which is Like christian crack rock, I guess. I don't know but i've seen the world tries to do exorcisms and these false churches and false religions try to do exorcisms and It'll even appear sometimes as if they're doing them and is even as if they're successful and it's just a game that satan's playing with The only true deliverance whereas spirit actually has to leave a person And go into the dry places and seek rest if I know That's because someone has in jesus name bound that demon and commanded it to leave in jesus name. That's it That's the only reason so let's look back at our verse here It says when the unclean jesus said when the unclean spirit's gone out of a man You walk through dry places seeking rest and findeth none. What is the rest refreshing? Kind of like what the book of enoch said suffering thirst suffering hunger they They they so desire to be in a body and I believe because they used to be in one A physical body because they are the disembodied spirits of the giants and I believe that's why they so desire to be in a body And that it's comforting to them in some way But when the unclean spirit's gone out of a man He walketh through dry places seeking rest and findeth none then he say it I will return into my house from whence I came out and when he has come he findeth it empty swept and garnish Let's deal with the swept and garnished here He finds it empty swept and garnish now The swept and garnish part means that it's been if you sweep a house, what are you doing? You're cleaning you're you're getting the dirt and the garbage and the debris out So you sweep it's so he's saying the house has been clean and garnish means being set in order beautified, you know It's like things that were in disarray meaning something good happened but the house is empty What is an empty house now? Remember when the devil say in my house He's talking about a human a human body a spirit soul and body a human being The devil considers a house a temple a place to live um And if the demons cast out and the house is swept out cleaned of unclean spirits and set in order Right and how about the house that remains empty? no, jesus
No, holy spirit. You're not filled with the presence and the power of the lord through Being saved you have to be saved. So here's the thing um The bible tells us if we if we cast demons out of somebody whose house is empty. They don't have jesus They don't have his holy spirit filling them Yeah, the demon will go But the demon will return and if the house is empty, no jesus No, holy spirit no power no authority no way to fight and resist Then that spirit returns into that house and brings seven other spirits More wicked than himself and they enter and dwell there And this is why I say there's only two exceptions and I didn't make a slide for this But i'm going to tell you and this will be on your tit There are only two exceptions to cast demons out of an unbeliever And this is the only two i've ever done In 30 plus years of doing this Number one is if a person is so demon-possessed like the gathering demoniac that They're completely just out of it. They're mine. I mean i'm talking about they they can't communicate They're just gone. I have had a situation where i've gone ahead and prayed for them And bound the demons and cast out some demons Because they were getting violent. I mean I'll just tell you situation. I was on I was I got a phone call And there was a situation where this guy I guess he was in his 20s And he had been in the gang. So he'd been into drugs. He'd been into uh sexual immorality even some violent acts This guy just opened himself wide up and he was out of his mind. So he's at his parents house And he's terrorizing his parents, right? You know threatening them You know throwing stuff, you know, they're scared. He's about to get violent and physical with them And he's he's I mean he's losing it and he's walking around saying he's jesus christ And he'd even already thrown himself off a bridge and tried to commit suicide and been in the hospital for For weeks and and this is you know a while after that. I mean this guy was Lunatic right? I mean we're talking about demon possessed out of his mind talking out of his head. He's jesus christ so his sister Goes over to the house. She's a christian And starts, you know trying to calm him down, but he's just He's just wigging out right he's wigging out I mean the next step is to call the law I mean, that's about where you lock him up That's this is where it was headed because he was about to get violent with everybody So they called me on the phone And tell me what's going on. So immediately I start praying And binding the demons and I knew this young man and I had actually had visited him previously when he was in the mental hospital All right, they had released him from the mental hospital. So we're talking about gatorine demoniac here
So I immediately started, you know, I hung up the phone right hung up the phone He didn't know they'd called me He's in the background, you know throwing stuff and yelling and screaming. I mean I can hear the chaos right in the background So immediately I just start binding the demons in him. I said I said lord I'm just going to start binding the demons and cast them out of him I said hopefully he'll come to his right mind now Let me tell you what happened. I start binding the demons in him violence murder death destruction all the stuff I mean he'd been in some gang violence initiation stuff and drugs So I just start binding the demons in him and commanding them to leave him to lose him to go from him they said like about You know about five minutes later after they hung up the phone That he's back there ranting and raving and he stops and he starts screaming out Dean's praying for me dean's praying for me dean's praying for me. He starts flipping out. There's no way he can know that Right, there's no way he knows that I'm I'm I am Several, you know i'm blocks away You know actually several miles probably about five to 10 miles away praying for him He calms down right Things chill out. They don't call the law, but eventually they talk him into look, you know Because the parents were just like he needs to go back. He needs some Psychological help and drug rehab and so they ended up sending him down to a drug rehab In south alabama, but he went peacefully in the car rode down there with him checked in everything's peaceful now Did he pray and get saved immediately? No But let me tell you all I can tell you is Is that young man got out of the gangs? got out of drugs Went to school Got a good job got married had kids and his leading You know started leading a normal like in his right mind um Now his parents were christians sisters christian And you know, of course I lost track of him. I moved away. So I you know, I mean, I don't know what i'm saying I don't know what transpired in his life after that but I know that he was in a place where I knew he wasn't saved but he was in such a bad place that you had nothing to lose by going ahead and um testing demons out of him and You know it ended up turning out pretty good for him, right? and um But that's that situation those type of situations the only time I would Say, you know if it's that bad and of course you have nothing to lose and you got to try to Intervene to make a situation better It's best to try so that that person might even come back into their right mind so that they can even hear the gospel and and And have a chance to be saved. Okay
But that's going to be rare that you see that kind of situation the other situation you could say unsaved but Is small children who are still under the authority of their parents and their but their parents are christians And they give you the permission to pray and minister their kids and like I said i've done that too Like uh, I just to give you the testimony years ago there was a family Well, it was a man and a woman and they couldn't have children and so they were in the air force and um, They adopted a little boy from the philippines and they adopted him. I think when he was like three or four And they didn't know anything about his parents. There was no knowledge of his parents and When he was five he started and they had moved They were in the philippines and they moved back to the states And they were in montgomery at stationed at maxwell air force base. And that's when I was in montgomery in those early years and um He's just started this this five-year-old boy. They told me started and these two these two parents They were godly christian holy spirit filled people. They were serious about the lord But again, they've been in the denomination assemblies of god that taught them christian can't have a demon. So You know, what is this? But this little boy starts some just manifesting some lewd lustful sexual Spirit started working through saying stuff and and manifesting stuff and doing stuff that really As a five-year-old, he shouldn't even know about I mean he just was just You know, and it was obvious that he just inherited these sexual immorality demons spirit of hortums and spirits of perversion and lust and Even homosexuality and I mean just perverse things he would say this kid was saying Perverse things right and his face which his face would go from looking like a little kid to looking like an adult Um, it was weird And so, you know finally his parents heard about me teaching on deliverance and asked me if i'd come and pray for him And so they gave me permission to administer this little kid And I sat down in a very calm and quiet and gentle manner Just prayed over him and bow broke the generational curses and sins of his parents and his grandparents and his great grandparents and any You know false religion native religion many curses I just kind of gently I broke those in jesus name bound demons that came in through the generational curse bound the demons of sexual sin immorality illegitimacy Bound those demons that came in perversion hortums lust adultery fornication Just went down the list of all the demons that could come in through those sins Bound them and cast them out of this kid very quietly very calmly He sat by me on the couch and his parents were sitting right there and uh He sat there very peaceful the whole time. No screaming. No
No pea soup coming out of his mouth. No head twisting around or anything like that um And when we got through praying he and he loved me he the kid loved me And uh, he uh, he jumped up when we said can I go play now? Yeah, go ahead You know But after that his parents said he never did any of that again ever Now we could say that kid was not saved and since he didn't he didn't come to know jesus as his lord savior He wasn't born again yet. He wasn't even old enough to you know, fully understand I mean some some do some don't but what i'm saying is he was still he's still under the age of accountability And his parents have authority over him spiritually and they gave me permission So those are the two and only two That I would cast demons out of an unsaved person if it's just to a point of just They need help to the point that they may not ever even hear the gospel or accept it. They're completely whacked out of their minds Then and little children if the parents are saved and Give permission, okay Let's keep going here Very important now We're going to show this remember the demon said i'll return to my house So this is kind of an illustration that I had a number of years ago This first one here is the woman who had the spirit of infirmity. She just had one demon Remember we have the bible says first thessalonians 5 23. We have a spirit of soul and a body Each of these aspects has different parts Spirit has different parts. The soul has different parts. The body has different parts This woman had a spirit of infirmity luke 13. She had one demon, but it was causing serious problems in her physical body Jesus cast out one spirit And she was healed. So this is an illustration of that then we have Mary Magdalene, here's the house Obviously, she'd opened the doorway to a few more demons seven of them Now it's probably through sexual immorality or that maybe there could have been some idolatry or something that happened in her life or some generational things Or all of the above but it was just seven demons seven strongholds She wasn't totally possessed the house wasn't totally full just a few rooms here and there And and this is what i'm illustrating a christian. We are the house We're a temple. Jesus said we're temple of the holy spirit, but we have different rooms different sections And just because we have a demonic stronghold in one room like this one or A couple more rooms here and this one doesn't mean that we are this All right It doesn't mean we're the gathering demoniac filled with them in every place even the attic, right? you can get like this keep sinning and rebelling and Playing with stuff. You shouldn't you can get anybody can get to this point christian or non-christian But that's the gathering demoniac right there filled with Really? He had at least 2000
And let's look at this Again, there are people teach that christian can't have a demon Was the christian can't have a demon or can't give place or authority or a foothold to the devil in their lives spirit soul or body why would The apostle paul write this by inspiration. The holy spirit of egyptians 4 27 neither give place to the devil Don't give place to the devil If it can't happen, why would you say don't do it? Makes no sense. So obviously it can happen So paul is saying don't give place to the devil. You can give place through ignorance through sin willful rebellion Again, you can open a door you can give place Peter says to christians here Be sober be vigilant because your adversary the devil is a roaring lion walking about seeking whom he may devour Why does it say seeking whom he may devour means can't devour everybody But he says to christians you need to be where? Because you can't open a door. He's looking for a way in he's looking for you to do something Say something commit a sin Do something through ignorance. He don't care You open a door He will give place to the devil. He will take it every time He's seeking and looking for a place in you This is uh, one of the verses that deals with this specifically Ecclesiastes 10 8 I love this passage here. What does it say? He says here? Ecclesiastes 10 8 he that dig at the pit shall fall into it and who so break at the hedge A serpent shall bite him who so break at the hedge Kevin who is who so is that a He's not hispanic. He's not latin It's not it's not jose It's who so who so ever Now if the bible says who so ever Can we assume that that means? Who so ever? Who so anybody and i'm going to add to it Simple definition of that that means anybody saved or unsaved born again or unbeliever If you dig the pit of what sin rebellion disobedience You break the hedge meaning you are a christian and you break the hedge That god's placed the the protective hedge around you break that Then guess what? A serpent will bite you now if a serpent bites you you get you see the little picture I got the little little snake there biting the person And i've actually been bitten by a snake before water moccasin got me on the foot many many years ago All right, then we got one thing because one thing went up beside my foot and the other one went in But because I was about to step on him and he struck from underneath But when a serpent is especially a poisonous one like that when they bite you
Where do their fangs go? In you And what do they do? They leave Some poison and they leave something in you to harm you to bring about either pain destruction or death That's what this is painting the picture of here A serpent will bite you if you break the hedge god's place a hedge around his people But if you break it you open a doorway you give place even as a christian a serpent Which is a symbol of demons and devils? Will bite you they will latch on to you and sink into you and put something in you All right And the only way to get rid of it. It must be bound in jesus name and cast out in jesus name By name or by way it came in All right Paul talked about here first corinthians chapter 10 about having fellowship with devils To christians he warned christians Don't have fellowship With devils now, let me read this this was written to christians the corinthians What say I then that the idol is anything or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is anything But I say that the things which the gentile sacrifice they sacrifice to devils or demons and not to god I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils Now the word fellowship here Is koinonia, which is the same word used for christians having fellowship with the holy spirit Now when you're a christian you're born again And then baptized in the holy spirit as well, but even when you're just born again What happens the holy spirit comes inside of you? In your spirit in your soul in your body the holy spirit comes in you and you have koinonia Fellowship partnership you're a partaker you have intimate connection With the holy spirit and i'm talking about you you become one with him. It's spiritual And he's saying here if he was telling them if they threw the sin of idolatry If they committed the sin of idolatry participating in anything That has to do with the false religion buddhism hinduism you know going to statues of bale or Ashtoreth or ishtar or whatever they submit to these things they bow to these they worship these things so they They participate in the practices of these things. He's saying you're having fellowship partnership You're opening the door to demons just like you have the holy spirit coming you these evil spirits will come in I've seen this happen. I've cast demons out of people who were roman catholic who prayed to mary and prayed to statues and pictures and icons of mary and uh prayed to To dead saints and statues of saints and statues of popes and they're committing the sin of idolatry and when I bound the demons
Of idolatry that came in. Whoo. We i've had some pretty dramatic Uh manifestations happened casting out the demons that came in to christians through Idolatry the sin of idolatry. That's the place. That's the doorway. That's where they give place to the devil and the demons came in um Like I said, we're going to talk more about the doorways Now let's talk about this the the examples we have the bible talks about that the old testament is types and shadows Of spiritual truths now in new covenant new testament True, so we look at the tabernacle in the wilderness the one that moses Made after the pattern of the one he saw that was in heaven And uh, of course we had the outer court here with this fence around it you had the outer court And then you had the brazen altar that you came to first You see that the little man's the high priest standing there The brazen altars where they sacrificed the animals the blood shed the blood of the animal And then offered it as a burn offering The lover the brazen lover was full of Water there was a cleansing of water that took place before They could enter into the first veil where the holy of holies was and where there was Where where ministry began where service to the lord began and so before the priest could go in to The tabernacle to the holy place and then of course the high priest even further to the holy of holies They had to go through two cleansings number one the brazen altar was blood And number two the lava was water. It was a two cleansings. It was showing something though two cleansings What are the two cleansings for the christian now that resemble this well? It's very simple Here's the scriptures. Let's go to first john one and second corinthian seven and you see the same two cleansings one has to do with The blood to wash away sin the other has to do With using the power of the word and speaking And really what I believe is binding and rebuking and casting out demons to cleanse ourselves So let's look at this first john one seven through nine, but if we walk in the light As he jesus is in the light. We have fellowship one with another And the blood of jesus christ his son cleanses us from all sin If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness If we confess our sins He is faithful to cleanse us of our sins who cleanses us? Jesus right of what sin let me say this and i've said it many times over the years Sin is not an a demon are not the same thing
Salvation are when we confess our sins and our sins are forgiven That's sin. That's the first cleaning. That's the brazen altar. That's where the blood sacrifices. That's what this is talking about when we confess our sins Jesus blood is what cleanses us from sin now second corinthian seven one He's speaking to christians who are already saved already born again through faith in jesus christ Who have already been washed in the blood their sins have been forgiven And he tells them here in second corinthian seven one two christians and he even even the language here lets you know He's talking christians. He says having therefore these promises dearly beloved Let us Now the apostle says us Meaning he's talking about he's including himself christians. Let us christians Having therefore these promises dearly beloved let us cleanse ourselves From all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness In the fear of god now, wait a minute. I thought jesus cleansed us from sin. What does this we do? you see I believe the filthiness of Flesh and spirit he's talking about notice there. He says in second corinthian seven one small s Filthiness of flesh. What is it? What's one of the definitions of? Demon spirits one of the things they're called unclean spirit So he says here Let us cleanse ourselves. So here's what happens We get saved through confessing our sins And asking jesus to forgive us and cleanse us of our sins And he washes the sin away But after that to be delivered from the demons the unclean spirits the uncleanness of Flesh and spirit these things that linger I call them the squatters That try to remain where they shouldn't We have to it's our job to cleanse ourselves where jesus said in my name you will cast out demon You bind the strong man and spoil his house You resist the devil he'll flee from you You have to cleanse yourself of the unclean spirits or get somebody to help you do it, but it has to be done together, all right So there's two the picture of the two cleansings and I tell people all the time Just like I take this piece of paper right here. Let me show you my my illustration that i've done Many many many many times. All right It's like this You have these two pieces of paper. I just tore a piece of paper in half. I got two pieces of paper This is sin. This one's a demon. We'll lay the demon right here for a minute All right, when you sin when you give place you do so by opening the doorway Say you're a christian You slip up you give into temptation you go and have sexual immorality
You're not married fornication or you're married you commit adultery. Here's what happened Doorways open into your heart your spirit your soul your body. It's open into you The sin comes in The sin let's say we'll just say the sin of adultery comes in sin of fornication sexual sin comes in What most people don't realize is what comes right behind that sexual sin is the spirit of hortom spirits of hortom's lust adultery perversion demon spirits of lust Even spirits come from that other person Transferred to you because two become one so We walk around like this. We got sin and we got the the unclean spirit So the two cleansings of this so we come to jesus whether we come to jesus to be saved for the first time and Get our sins washed away or as a christian. We we failed in the sin I think I use the example of a christian, but a christian comes and says lord, you know what I sin uh I confess my sin of adultery fornication to you Please forgive me and cleanse me. I repent. I turn from it. I'm not going to keep doing it Lord, forgive me wash my sin away by your precious blood And so the sin is washed away. He cleanses us of the sin. The sin is washed away But here's what happens. What's what's left? The demons are still there and the doorway is still open And this is way 99 percent of christians walk or they're trying to walk out the christian line doors wide open gaps broken hedge Demons strongholds still in there. Oh, but i'm saved. Yeah, you're saying your sins are forgiven. They're washed away But you're tormented you're vexed you're pushing you wonder why you never get victory over certain things Now this is why christians still struggle struggle struggle struggle like and i'm not talking about being tempted I'm talking about where people say I cannot stop sexual immorality as a christian If you can't stop There's a stronghold. There's a demonic stronghold. There's a problem Deliverance is this deliverance says you know what lord, I know you forgave me of my sin But I ask you to forgive, you know I ask you to forgive me and you forgave me and the blood your blood wash my sin away But lord right now in jesus name. I must cleanse myself Of the filthiness of flesh and spirit this unclean spirits that came in through my sexual sin So I bind the demons came in through my sexual sin of adultery or fornication I bind the demon spirit the strong man of hoardums lust perversion the perverse spirits I bind these demons of adultery and fornication. I bind you in jesus name I break your power in jesus now command you loose me and go from me in jesus name You cast them out And you say lord, please close the doorway that I open And build the hedge back and fix the heads there That's the two cleansings We have the example in the tabernacle the old testament the temple
Two cleansings before you could go into the tabernacle before it was you were really ready to minister and then You have them clearly spelled out in the new testament But again churches haven't taught them Which is a shame because it's all here And now here's some things to to understand there's some more illustrations here three things to understand Number one the things that happened under them in the old testament are examples under us in the new testament I said that a minute ago number two Many things that actually happened in the old testament are types and shadows and allegories of new testament truths like ie the first path over uh was them You know leaving the world by the blood of the lamb The new testament is us You know leaving the world through the blood of jesus and that's what number three said the lord jesus was ministering Under the old testament as he was establishing the new So when jesus ministered to israelites he was ministering to blood covenant children of god I want everybody to get these three things are very important To get a hold up especially as we're dealing with deliverance casting demons out of people primarily christian All right Let's get this right here. We'll try to get through this real quick So let's look at some of these types and shadows real quick We're gonna this is this is where we're gonna we're gonna end up. I think this is the kind of the last section here Well first corinthians 10 1 through 6 He says here more of a brethren I would not that you should be ignorant Now that all of our fathers were under the cloud and all passed through the sea and were all baptized into moses in the cloud and in the sea And did all eat the same spiritual meat and to drink the same spiritual drink for the drink of that spiritual rock that followed them And that rock was christ But with many of them god was not well pleased for they were overthrown in the wilderness now these things were our Examples to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. So paul saying here Look, I want you to understand the similarities Of the things that happened to them in the old covenant They were drinking the same spiritual meat. We're drinking the same spiritual drink It's just now we're under a new covenant, but those those things those lessons We learned from the old covenant. They are examples to us examples So let's look He goes on to say neither be idolaters as were some of them As it is written that people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play neither Let us commit fornication. Let us notice the apostle includes himself. He's talking to christians. Don't let christian Commit fornication as some of them committed and fell in one day three and twenty thousand Neither let us tempt christ as some of them also tempted and were destroyed of serpents. What destroyed them? Serpents, what's a serpent a type and shadow of a symbol of demon spirits? Neither murmury is some of them also murmured and were destroyed of the destroyer
now all these things happened unto them for examples and they are written for Admonition upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take he lest he fall So all these things are examples All right Well, here's the word example the greek word used here a type ie a person a thing prefiguring a future um a stamp a scar a shape A style or resemblance a type a model Again a pattern a form So you see he was saying those things that happen to them So let's look at this. I mentioned this just a second ago, but passover Exodus 12 12 through 13 the first passover for I will pass through the land of Egypt this night And will smite all the first born in the land of Egypt both man and beast and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment. I am the lord And the blood shall be for you a token upon the houses where you are And when I see the blood I will pass over you And the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you when I smite the land So of course they were taken out of Egypt after that after they applied the blood of the lamb They were taken out of Egypt in the bible since this is a type and shadow of our salvation as we repent Come out of the world the course of this world according living according to the principle power the air of this world the god of this world satan We come out of that world through faith asking the blood of jesus to be applied to us and we apply that to our Hearts and spirits to wash our sins away And to make us alive through quickness and make us alive in him And we escape this spirit of death That is upon us from the sins of the world and living dead to christ dead to god and so Again, there's the blood of the lamb So that's that old testament. That's a real thing that happened, but it's a type and shadow now In the new covenant of what jesus did for us on the cross And salvation through faith in his blood shed on the cross for our sins now First Corinthians 10 1 and 2 that we read a minute ago also gives us the type and shadow of the two baptisms that we experience In the new covenant that we should experience All right He says mover brother would not have you ignorant That all our fathers were under the cloud and all passed through the sea and were by all baptized unto moses in the cloud And in the sea So what he's saying there is that the israelites going through the red sea passing through the waters Was a type of water baptism And then the cloud of god's presence continued to follow them That from that point on through the wilderness in their time in the wilderness So the cloud of god's presence represents the holy spirit Baptism and that's what he's talking about in the cloud Is the is the presence the manifest presence of the holy spirit? They were baptized in the water And in the cloud
And that's the two baptisms. We should be baptized in water once we become christians. We're born again And we're born of water Not that baptism saves us because I believe the water we're born of is what flowed out of jesus Side blood and water flowed but water baptism we do that Uh as a public testimony of our faith But then after that we should also be baptized in the cloud Um the presence of the holy spirit the baptism the holy spirit just like acts two those were 120 christians who were already baptized in water they were already Saved their sins had already been forgiven and washed away by the blood of jesus But jesus tells them go wait until you're baptized in the holy spirit By the cloud of god's presence to manifest so you get the shadows right, but we're not done All right, we're looking at these old testament shadows And i've said this but we're going to cover it again today That remember they came out of egypt by the blood of the lamb. That was a type of Salvation of us coming out of the world and out of sin and our old life through the blood of jesus We just read they were baptized through the sea and through the clouds so the baptism of water and the baptism of the holy spirit But then they wandered in the wilderness For a number of years, but the the goal god was trying to get them to the promised land now for years. I heard songs The old hymns a lot of the old hymns a lot of the songs that the promised land is heaven That's when we get we cross the jordan river and we get to heaven But is that the promised land of type or shadow or example pattern Of when we die and go to heaven or when jesus comes and takes a step. No Why because there was There was a problem in the promised land that they had to deal with Will there be problems in heaven that we need to deal with kevin? No What were the problems? Well, there were giants in the land. Let's read this numbers 13 27 through 28 32 through 33. Here's what it says They sent the spies in the land It says and they told him and said we came unto the land whether thou sent us And surely it floweth with milk and honey And this is the fruit of it nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land And the cities are walled and very great and moreover. We saw the children of a neck there And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of israel saying the land Through which we have gone to search it is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof And all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature And we saw the giants the sons of a neck which come of the giants and we were in our own side as grasshoppers And so we were in their side so they said in the in the In the land that they were possessed in the promised land there were the giants the giants are the half breeds of the fallen angels the sons of god and human women so they're part
human and part fallen angelic beings And they had so they were strong men with strongholds in the promised land And the children of israel their job was going to be what to drive out the canyons Cast them out drive them out. So what is this really a picture of a shadow of a type a pattern of deliverance Whose land was it god's land he'd given to the children. So it's his land and their land but that land the devil knew That god was going to give them that land. So he moved his demonic hordes in there of giants Nephilim Rafi giants half breeds wicked evil fallen angel seed Says israel failed to drive out the canyons. Let's look at this Judges 128 and it came to pass when israel was strong That they put the canyons to tribute and did not utterly drive them out. They disobeyed the lord and let them stay Does that sound like most christians? They disobey the lord and let the demons stay they don't cleanse the house Of the evil spirits and unclean spirits that's in their land in their temple in their house And what happens he warned them judges two one through three and the angel of the lord came up from gilgal to bokem And said i made you to go up out of egypt. Oh salvation through the blood of the land I brought you unto the land which I swear unto your fathers and said I will never break my covenant with you And you shall make no league With the inhabitants of this land, but you shall throw down their altars, but you have not obeyed my voice Why have you done this? Wherefore I also said I will not drive them out from before you But they shall be as thorns in your sides and their god shall be a snare unto you so the moment you don't obey To cleanse the land Your promised land That should be your land of peace and blessing and rest But you have to fight first You're supposed to be a war first And that war so so this going into the promised land to drive out the Giants the strong men and their strongholds This is a picture a type of shadow Of deliverance that christians all christians I believe need to pursue In their lives I know we're going a little bit and the people the first argument that comes up when you say well christians can have demons The first thing you'll hear on wait a minute now light and dark can't be in the same place same time Y'all like that. I can go Super country, honey. I want to Second Corinthians 6 13 through 18 light and darkness here it is the argument here, right?
This uh, he says now this is this is the one they always use is now For recompense and the same I speak is unto my children Be also enlarged be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness What communion hath light with darkness? What concord is christ with liar or what part has he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of god with idols for you're the temple of living god As god has said I will dwell in them and walk in them I will be their god and they shall be my people wherefore Because I want to be your god and be your people and live and walk and dwell and you come out from among them Be separate sayeth the lord touch not the unclean thing And I will receive you and you will and will be a father unto you and you should be my sons and daughters Sayeth the lord almighty now people take this and they go see light and darkness What communion has light and darkness demons can't dwell in the same place as the holy spirit and all that yet? But none of that says in that in fact using this passage To try to make that argument Is ridiculous because number one he's talking about being yoked with unbelievers So that has nothing to do with demons But then he says here the warning he's just saying You shouldn't be mixing the two That's the warning here. You don't try to mix light and darkness. There's no agreement between them So if he's warning them and telling them to come out from among them and be separate They were doing what he was telling them not to do So they were already doing it. So this verse doesn't even apply but let's address this stupid Argument the argument light and darkness can't dwell in the same place at the same time First argument here is that just destroys that is As god is omnipresent meaning he's everywhere all the time His presence there's nowhere that you know Everywhere, I mean david said psalm 139 whether shall I go from thy spirit or whether shall I flee from my presence if I ascend up Into heaven thou art there if I make my bed in hell behold thou art there If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea Even there thy hand shall lead me And so he says there's nowhere I can go to escape That I can escape you so if we understand that aspect of the nature of god According to satan couldn't dwell anywhere right And then he says you see in job one and two that satan came into heaven to the very throne of god In the presence of god to petition for job So I think there's a little bit of god's presence at the throne, right? anyway What i'm saying is the bible clearly states That satan was at the throne of god right in front of god talking to him So can a christian is the light and darkness issue? A valid argument. Absolutely not God will permit Like he permitted satan to come before his throne In heaven to petition for job. He allowed that He allows satan to exist if he didn't want satan. I mean god's presence is everywhere. He could not allow satan to exist
But yet he allows him to exist even in his presence. Remember paul said the lord's everywhere. He said in him In him in him we live and move and have our being I mean everywhere The presence of god we can't escape him So that's not a valid argument And there's your verses and joe notice it says here now There was a day when the sons of god came to present themselves before the lord and satan Came also among them So they have this conversation and I love the the way it ends down here In verse 12, so satan went forth from the presence of the lord So satan was in the presence of the lord. He was sitting there with the lord only because the lord permits it for his purposes Okay satan at the throne of god just gave you a little picture and I got to put a little horns on a little angel there Now, you know what we're gonna stop here today. We could go into solomon's temple. We're gonna we'll pick back up here next week because we're gonna cover doorways and The children's bread and all that stuff, but I think we've gone long enough today Uh for this, so this is part one demons and deliverance part one spiritual warfare class number six um I'll have to figure out what your assignment's going to be.
