yes Lord hallelujah praise your name Lord we put all our hope in you Lord Jesus and Lord we do need Revival Lord we do need you to pour out your spirit Lord to convict and draw and to bring in the Lost Lord those who have been blinded by Satan those who are deceived and hardened in their sin those who are rebelling and resisting Lord we need you to pour out your spirit Lord to convict to draw to open their eyes Lord that's our primary Mission Lord when we pray for the anointing and the leading of the Holy Spirit Lord to make us uh wise to be soulwinners Lord to lead others to know you to know Jesus as Lord and Savior to be born again so they may escape the damnation of hell they may escape the punishment for their sins Lord because you became the punishment the sacrifice you paid the price for our sins we just have to believe in you repent Follow You Lord God we just pray you help us lead others into that salvation experience into that Born Again experience into that Lord repentance that they need or we pray this today in Jesus name amen amen you may be seated this morning welcome everyone to Fire and Grace Church welcome those watching and listening out there all over the place um I believe the Lord's given me what he wants me to share with you last night uh kind of flooded in on me but we somehow I guess sometimes we forget what our primary mission is as Christians I mean let's just talk about Ministry for a second everybody wants to be in the ministry everybody wants to do ministry and I believe whether you're called to the five-fold ministry or not you're called to be a minister of the Gospel what does that mean well is it just to attain knowledge I think there's a lot of people in the church world right now and the so-called Christians even in the truth movement that it's just about gaining knowledge all the time that's that seems to be what they're all about just gain more and more knowledge more and more information and we live in the information age so it's just information information information knowledge knowledge knowledge but what does the Bible say about that everybody look at 1 Corinthians 9 verse one there and I think I sent you the definition of that word the Bible says this it says that uh knowledge puffs up I don't want to be puffed
up did I get the wrong one I did didn't I is it second Corinthians hold on a second I didn't even pull my notes up I'm sorry it's chapter 8 1 Corinthians chapter 8 that's right I was I was a chapter off I got nine on my mind but the second part of that verse where he says there knowledge puffs up but charity edifi knowledge puffs up now gaining knowledge is not wrong we should learn we should know what's going on in the world we should learn the word we should learn the scriptures we should know what sound Doctrine is we should know his history I mean we should know some things but that is not the primary goal of Christianity of being a Christian really there's two things when it comes to Ministry is this winning the Lost bringing them to know Jesus as their lord and savior and equipping the Saints helping the Saints to mature that's the work of the ministry and if we're not doing those two things we're pretty much just kind of spinning our wheels and the devil will be happy with that because Jesus came and I'm going to give you a bunch of scriptures we're going to go through this morning but you should be focusing on am I winning Souls that's really how you should measure your life am I living a holy life am I obeying the Lord and is there fruit coming forth from my life when I preach the gospel or share my testimony and we're going to talk about those things am I anointed Enough by the Holy Spirit to have an impact on somebody and bring them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ see because if if if if that's not happening then we're just pretty much all we're doing is just spinning our Wheels you know in America over the last say 30 years most of the church growth that's happened has not been people being born again new people that were lost coming to Jesus most of it has been just transfer growth certain churches dying and they run fill up other churches that's pretty much how it is or some Churches brownies or coffee shops better than the other one or you got a celebrity preacher over here and everybody wants to wants to be where the TV cameras are I kid you not that's pretty much what is is motivating quote Church growth in America but true Revival true move of the Holy Spirit and the true Ministry of Christians should be are we bringing people to repentance
and true faith in Jesus Christ um of course Jesus said this we look Matthew 4 verse 19 and 20 you can turn there this is a teaching this morning I might get to preaching in a minute but it's teaching for now I remember what one of my pastors said back in the day he said teaching is information that you need and preaching is inspiration and if you don't get both you won't have a balanc diet but see today I hope to encourage you to examine your life not just whether there's sin in there that that's the obvious issue if there's habitual sin you need to deal deal with that uh because let me let me just put this up real quick put that statement up that quote that we hear in Christianity I call it a ridiculous statement you ever heard this one preach the gospel at all times use words if necessary this is one of the most irritating Christian cliches now it's it's normally attributed to St Francis of aissi the cath the Roman Catholic but really nobody knows who came up with this nonsense probably just the devil all right because it is a given it should be a given the Christians should be living a Christian Life otherwise you're a hypocrite otherwise you're a lukewarm you're a backslider you're being a bad example if you are living in sin okay or in false Doctrine so let's just get that straight I mean should you be have to be told over and over again you should be living holy didn't didn't the Apostle Peter make it very clear in First Peter be that God said be holy as I am Holy that no man will see the Lord without Holiness right Hebrews chapter 12 so we are supposed to be holy we're we're supposed to be living you know we're not supposed to be in fornication adultery drunkenness idolatry I mean I could go down the list so that's a given all right we should be living the life but here's the thing we're not not told just to try to be an example and don't say anything the devil would just love that keep your mouth shut and let people see anybody ever heard this stuff okay let me tell you right now they better be seeing you live the true Christian life but then you better open your mouth and preach the word of God to them preach the gospel because if you don't they will not be saved I'm going to tell you right now it takes both them seeing the example that you live but you got to open your mouth and you got to tell them something or nothing's going to happen Okay and Jesus made these statements go back to Matthew 419
through2 we'll read this it says when he was calling the his first disciples there he saith unto them follow me and I will make you Fishers of Men and straight way they left their Nets and they followed him Him Luke 19:10 and I'm going to go quick Luke 19:10 for the son of man has come to seek and to save that which is lost you see that that was the purpose of him coming everything the purpose of Jesus coming God manifesting In the Flesh his whole mission was to pay for our sins so that he could bring the lost the sinner out of sin to repentance and have the ability to be forgiven to bring them back to fellowship and intimacy with God so the whole mission of Jesus is to win the Lost somebody say win the lost the lost right let's read this one this is Matthew 91-113 and this is Jesus when he you know they were attacking him because he would go eat with the publicans and sinners this is Matthew 9 10 through3 it says and it came to pass as Jesus set at meat in the house behold many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples and when the Pharisees saw it they said unto his disciples why eateth your master with publicans and sinners but when Jesus heard that he said unto them they that behold need not a physician but they that are sick but go ye and learn what what that meanthe and not sacrifice for I am not come to call the righteous but Sinners to repentance do you see that Jesus even told the story about the 99 he said I'll leave the 99 righteous to go find the one that needs repentance are we doing that in our lives do we do that in our personal lives it's awful quiet in here let's go to re read um Luke 24 see what used to bother me if if I haven't person personally preached the gospel shared my testimony uh given somebody the word of God and brought somebody to repentance and salvation if I had seen somebody born again through my witness in my life if if I go along period of time I get a
little concerned like what what's wrong with me Lord do I need to go and pray do I need to get more of your anointing do I need to step out of the comfort zone a little bit this is this is uh something we all have to be reminded about is that we're responsible let's read this this is um Jesus after he had died on the cross had rose from the dead and he had appeared to the disciples on the road to Emmas and then later it says this and this is uh we're going to read from verse 44 through verse 47 this is Luke 24 and he said unto them these are the words which I spake unto you while I was yet with you that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and in the Psalms concerning me then open he their understanding that they might understand the scriptures and he said unto them thus it is written and thus it behooved Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day and that repentance and remission of sin should be preached in his name among all nations beginning at Jerusalem M you see that he should be preached in all nations to All Nations beginning at Jerusalem now go to Romans chapter 10 14- 17 here the question is asked here the Holy Spirit through the Apostle Paul how then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed and how shall they believe in him and whom they have not heard and how shall they hear without a preacher and how shall they preach except they be sent as it is written how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring Glad Tidings of good things but they have not all obeyed the gospel for Isaiah saith Lord who ha believed our report so then Faith cometh by hearing in and hearing by the word of God so people must hear the word of God and um do me a favor and turn that away from me a little bit please thank you so how will they hear without a preacher right and if faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God somebody's got to speak it out of their mouths to people I'm going to give you a few things that you need to be doing you need to be thinking about and you need to be doing how to be a better witness because let's let's put up uh Proverbs 11 real quick Proverbs
11 go down to verse 30 this right here again vitally important the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life and he that winth Souls is wise the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life what's that Tree of Life about giving people eternal life that comes through through Jesus that's the tree if he's the tree of life and it says he that winth Souls is wise what's the flip side of that coin he that doesn't win souls is not wise right you see it takes wisdom from God to be a soul winner you have to want it you have to ask for it and you have to be bold enough to step out and use the wisdom that he gives you to win souls and again I say that is how you should measure am I bearing fruit in my life yes you should bear the fruit of the spirit absolutely but are you leading others to Jesus this is so vitally important now let's go back how do we do that how how do we how do we become effective or more effective in leading people to Jesus well we can't just sit there and do this if if if we're not doing that now then that means something we need to change something right so I'm going to show you this we're going to go to quite a few passages here but number one you have got to preach the cross the preaching of the Cross and you've got to trust the power of that when you preach that to people now let's read this this is in First Corinthians chapter 1 we're going to read 17- 24 I remember the first time when I first came back to the Lord when I was 19 I read this and boy it just really leaped off the page the Holy Spirit really like just burned this into my heart right here and this will get some of these people that think that that you know want to put all this emphasis on water baptism is what saves you water baptism is not what saves you or how did the thief on the cross get saved without it right and this is why Paul said this he said for Christ sent me not to baptize but to preach the gospel not with wisdom of words lest the cross the
Cross of Christ should be made of none effect for the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness but on us which are saved it is the power of God let me stop right there real quick the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish or are perishing foolishness yes it seems foolish to preach about this man this Jewish man dying on a cross is the key to everything for your whole life and your whole eternity but this is the power of God and when you're witnessing to people if you don't share with them the cross if you don't share with them Jesus died for your sins you're a sinner you are lost he had to come do something to make a way for you to be saved if you don't make that clear if you don't preach the cross they will never be saved can I tell you right now the gospel is not come to church would come come visit isit church that's not the gospel it's nice to invite people to church that's fine and dandy but that is not preaching the cross amen preaching the cross is telling them what Jesus has done and why he had to do it because all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that all means you you hear me do you tell people that have you told anybody recently that was not saved that you know have you told them about the cross that they are doomed to be separated from God forever to go into Eternal damnation because they have sinned but all of us have sinned and there is a way been made through the blood of Jesus through God Almighty dying on the cross the sinless perfect sacrifice Have you shared that with anybody like Pastor de now I've shared it with people but it hadn't worked oh my goodness you got to sew the seed you hear what I'm saying and trust that is the preaching of the Cross is the power of God that God will take that and he will use it you may not see the immediate fruit from it but you've got to plant that seed of the cross of Jesus Christ in these people's hearts and you you got to put it in there strongly it's kind of like somebody that the doctor the doctor sees and he realizes there is stage four cancer and they're like we've got to do something immediately you know and if you don't like if a doctor doesn't convince you like if you're not convinced that you're dying you're not going to take the Cure now are you
exactly we got a bunch of we got a bunch of preachers that want to hand out you know they're little Gummy gospel pills and people don't even know why they need to take them a lot of people don't even oh well I I need to take these these gospel pills here because it'll make my life better I might get a better job a bigger house a new Ferrari no you need the Gospel of Jesus Christ because you are a sinner you have offended and angered God Almighty by being a rebel and disobedient to him and if you don't come and accept his way to deal with that if you don't come through the cross of Jesus Christ and believe he died for your sins and rose from the dead and that you must call upon him for mercy and forgiveness and salvation If You Don't Preach that then they can't they they're not going to ever be saved and you say well Pastor Dean that's your job you're the pastor no that's your job to your neighbor to your family to your friends to your co-workers let's go to number two y'all all right with number one actually I don't think I finished reading that did I let's finish reading that real quick because I want to point out something Verse 18 says for the preaching of the Cross is them that perish foolishness but unto us which are saved it is the power of God for it is written I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing the understanding of The Prudent where is the wise where is the Scribe where's the disputer of this world hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world for after that in the wisdom of God the World by wisdom knew not God it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe do you see that it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save say I must be a preacher prer it's not just Pastor Dean's job it's my job say well I'm not an evang evangelist it's all right an evangelist just has a responsibility to preach to more people right a pastor actually has two jobs his a pastor's job is to equip the Saints to do the work of the ministry and to do the work of an evangelist which is why I preach sermons about being born again and repentance
now let's look at this we're going to jump on on to number two here how do we how do we be alike to them we preach the cross the second thing we have to do sometime is a reason with them out of the scriptures now this is Acts chapter 17 go to acts 17 I'm going to read this you got to preach the cross and sometimes you got to reason with them out of the scriptures I mean you're going to have to debate some folks and give them some some word some teaching because this is what Paul did when he went to these unsaved Jews and we're going to read acts 17 1-4 there it says now when they had passed through and philis or whatever that is in abalonia they came to thessalonica where was a synagogue of the Jews and Paul as his manner was went in unto them and three Sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures open opening and alleging that Christ must needs have suffered and risen again from the dead and that this Jesus whom I preach unto you is Christ and some of them believed and consorted with Paul and Silas and and of The Devout Greeks a great multitude and of the chief women not a few so what did Paul do he so for three weeks three sabbaths he reasoned with them out of the scriptures and what did he do out of the scriptures I believe Paul preached the cross to them and he showed them Isaiah 53 where Jesus would be crucified he showed them where he would be the one to be an atonement for our souls that by his stripes we would be healed he was wounded for our transgressions bruised for our iniquities Paul was giving them the Old Testament prophecies he was giving them scripture he was showing them how Jesus fulfilled those to be the Messiah to be the Savior wouldn't you have loved to sit in on some of those sermons and teachings and God so anointed Paul in this preaching to some hard-headed that you know the Jews were known back then for one thing being hard-headed stiff necked and stubborn and they were known for this but Paul would go in and he reasoned with them out of the scriptures sometimes we got to work with folks we got folks that say they they believe the Bible all right let's give them some Bible right a lot of folks out there say they believe the Bible have respect for the Bible but they don't know the Bible they think they know the Bible Grandma knew the Bible for them Mama knew the Bible for them and they think they're good but this is why sometimes it takes some time you got to sew some seed you got to explain some things you got to dig down and show people how Jesus
fulfilled Those Old Testament prophecies and who he is and what he's about I remember back in the day when I first came back from Arkansas after I rededicated my life in 1987 one of the things that I did we just started having these Bible studies these impromptu Bible studies in a bunch of unsaved people's houses I mean we'd start talking to somebody who was not a Christian and we' just say hey let's have a Bible study at your house Friday tonight and you we'll explain all this stuff and they say all right let's do it and a bunch of unsaved people would come to this unsaved person's house and I would just take my time going through the scriptures explaining to them who Jesus is what he has done and what they need to do and it was amazing I would say how many people want to accept Jesus as their lord and savior how many you want to repent and get right with God and we saw people saved almost every single Bible study we did it's not complicated now God the Holy Spirit was moving and you need to have the Holy Spirit moving and you need to have prayer Behind these things because we were praying and fasting that's all we were doing back man let me tell you praying fasting and going and preach that's that's how I live for for two years I worked at a Christian radio station so I would go be a DJ at a Christian radio station from 8:00 in the morning till 2: in the afternoon I would go home eat lunch take a break maybe take a nap cuz I usually get up at 4:45 in the morning to go to prayer for two hours and then I would go have a Bible study with somewhere or we'd go out on the street witnessing that's how I lived for years long before I was getting behind any kind of pull pit I was just being a Christian obeying the word of God and seeing much from fruit from it let me tell you right now you think you can't do what I'm talking about you need to change the way you think I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me right how much more will he strengthen you bless you anoint you give you what you need when you are stepping out to preach the gospel to preach the cross to someone who's unsaved again I'm not talking about inviting them to church I'm talking about preaching the gospel the cross of Jesus Christ to them and doing it maybe like Paul here for three weeks maybe going to visit their house and talking to them and then going back next week and talking to them again and
going back the next week and talking to them again see sometimes we give up too easy too I remember the night my mom got saved she came in I've shared this story many times my brother and I was watching Christian TV I don't know what preacher was on was probably Jimmy Swagger back then all I know is my mom had been out drinking and partying with my stepdad and came in and saw preaching and she just couldn't handle it anymore because she knew i' had gotten saved and my brother and she was so convicted of her sins that she came in the door she saw that it was just the final straw the demons had enough and they started cussing and fussing oh we had turned into this explosion but we had been giving them the gospel well you know we could have get given up I didn't live there I was just visiting for Christmas time I could have just said I well I'll just see you later get in my own car and leave right especially after a gun gets pulled on you yeah my stepdad pulled a a gun on me that night it got heated there was a heated discussion finally my brother looks at my mom and says I buy the and rebuke the demons in you right now commanded to shut up Jesus you know she shut up and sat down at the dinner table my stepdad went and passed out cu he was drunk and we sat there and preached the gospel to my mom for the next couple of hours now she didn't give her life to Jesus so guess what the next morning I don't know what happened both my mom and my stepdad worked for uh Bell South I guess some kind of emergency happened and my stepdad had to get up and go in you know because he worked on the lines and all that stuff and I was like that was weird on a Sunday morning and we my brother and sister and I we were all going to go to church that morning and I just sent them on I said you guys go I'm I'm not done talking to Mom cuz see I wasn't going to give up how many times do we give up so I went in her room she was she was awake but she was still sitting in bed and I sat down beside her bed and I continued said Mom you know you need Jesus you need to accept Jesus as your lord and savior you need to stop this drinking and I just talk to her I said I love you Mom I'm not trying to I'm not trying to be mean to you I want you to go to heaven and I I said you you know you've seen my life has been changed it's been transformed and A Tear started rolling down her face I said Mom do you want to give your life to Jesus she said yeah and I led my mother in prayer to ask Jesus to be her Lord and Savior to forgive her of her sins and she was born again that day and I didn't really know I thought you know just like most Americans that probably she had gone to church when she was young so I knew she went to church some and I thought well she's saved but
maybe she just had fallen away and I remember when she was in the hospital right before she died as she was getting ready to go be with the Lord we had a great time just talking laughing cutting up and I knew this was going to be the last time I talked to her and I just asked her I said well Mom when is the first time you ever you were truly Born Again CU I'm just thinking I led her back to Jesus you know which is most Americans and she goes that morning you prayed with me and my mom was truly born again but think about had I not fought through all that and pressed through and said I'm going to keep on I could have given up I could have given up that night and left after getting cussed out and a gun pulled on me it's pretty discouraging right I could have got up that morning and said let the Sinners sleep I'm going to church or be led by the Holy Spirit I'm going to preach the gospel to her again and try to lead her to Jesus again sometimes we get a little resistance from somebody and we just give up or we shut up or we get worried we get afraid to talk to them and that's not what it's about sometimes you got to be persistent so that's why I showed this about Paul went back three weeks and a lot of people got saved let's look at the third thing I want to talk about here go to Acts that's going down actually the same chapter just a few more verses down we're in Acts 17 go to 16 through 34 here I want to read this because we can gain a lot if we pay attention to how the Paul and the apostles talk to the unsaved people this is how we we're supposed to talk to folks we got to discern the situation we're in and the group we're dealing with or the person we're dealing with and give them certain things accordingly I love what Paul does here and this is says when he went to Athens now uh verse 16 now while Paul waited for them in Athens his Spirit was stirred in him when he saw the city holy or completely given to idolatry therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews and with devout persons and in the market daily with them that met with him now can I stop for a minute on that look at what Paul was doing here his Spirit he saw the city completely given to the sin of idolatry and his Spirit was stirred his Spirit was stirred why because he didn't want these lost people to go to hell he didn't want them to stay in idolatry and in sin he didn't want them to stay deceived and blinded by the devil so what did he do it says he disputed in the synagogue with the Jews and with devout persons and in the market daily I these people all these people want to
be Apostles we got the apos Apostle what do we call it apocalypse now everybody's Apostle and apparently anybody can make you an apostle they can just install you and your wife I don't understand that either but let me tell you right now you want to see the the work of an apostle there it is right there disputing man let me tell you that night when we were trying to preach the gospel to my stepdad and my mom it was a dispute it wasn't peaceful it wasn't sweet people were cussing people were throwing things people were pulling guns on people it was a dispute and sometimes you're going to preach the gospel and you're going to have to dispute with them they're going to argue argue back you need to give them truth back don't back away a lot of people think you know what that that everything's supposed to be nice and peaceful and sweet and easy when we're sharing the gospel with people and I'm talking about whether individually or a group man I went to alurn University and preached the gospel out there many times over the years let me tell you you get some interesting resistance there's some interesting disputes that take place but again you just realize I'm going to be faithful and tell the truth speak the word of God preach the cross preach repentance preached specifically about Sin but what did Paul do here I love this let's keep reading this so he was in the market daily then certain philosophers of the epicurian and of the stoics encountered him and he said what they said what would this babbler say and other said seeth to be a seter forth of strange Gods because he preached unto them Jesus and the resurrection so we know what he was preaching what was Paul preaching to them Jesus the cross the resurrection what Jesus came to do about Sin they're like what is he talking about and they took him and brought him to arpus saying that we may know what this new doctrine is whereof thou speakest he said for thou bringest certain strange things to our ears that we will would uh know therefore what thing these things mean for all the Athenians and strangers which were spent uh spent their time in nothing else but either to tell or to hear some new thing then stood Paul in the midst of Mars Hill and said you men of Athens I perceive that in all things you are too suspicious or superstitious I should say for as I passed by and beheld your devotions I found an altar uh with this inscription to the unknown God and you know they've dug up this altar they found these these altars there that say
to the unknown God whom therefore you ignorantly worship Him declare I unto you notice he goes here and this is what I want to say number three here is he appeals to Creation to lead people to the Creator that they don't know because a lot of people know there is a God but they don't know who he is and they know there's a God because they have the sense enough to look at creation and go this wasn't an accident this wasn't a big bang that created everything this is not Evolution we didn't win the lottery hundred million times over for everything to be working in perfect order like it works so a lot of people have got enough sense to know there's a Creator and so Paul appeals to the Creator he says God that made the world and all things there in seeing that he is Lord of Heaven and Earth dwelleth not in temples made with hands neither is worshiped with men's hands as though he needed anything seeing he giveth to all life and breath and all things and Heath made of one blood All Nations for men to dwell on the face of the Earth H face of the Earth so he's telling them it's flat and has determined the times before appointed and notice this the bounds of their habitation or the limits to where they can go the boundary that literally means the outer boundary limit so he's describing the Earth as it is really created and then he says verse 27 that they should seek the Lord if happily they might feel after him and find him though he be not far from every one of us for in him we live and move and have our being as certain also of your own poets have said for we are also his offspring for as much then as we are The Offspring of God we ought not to think that the godhead is like under gold or silver or stone or Graven by Ark of man's device he says in the times of this ignorance God winked at but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent because he ha appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained whom he hath given Assurance unto all men that he has raised him from the dead and when they heard that the resurrection of the Dead some mocked and others said we will hear thee again on this matter so Paul departed from among them how be it certain men clave unto him and believed among them which is diois I guess or arop guite and a woman named dearis and others with him so even in the place this place of Athens where they were very academic and very much about wisdom and knowledge Paul gets up and preaches to them and he preaches the cross and the resurrection of Jesus and points out to them you know there's a there there's a God

one but does he say that have I ever heard him say that have I ever seen a sermon where he said that and I watch him I just I check them out I try to get the get the pulse of these churches sometimes remember what I told you it's not always what they say it's what they don't say it's what they leave out and man when you got a church look when you got a church you got several thousand people sitting in front of you I assure you someone's in sin somebody's in fornication somebody's in adultery somebody's in idolatry somebody's lukewarm somebody has the idol of TV movies and entertainment somebody needs to hear this somebody's drinking somebody's thinking about committing suicide and need to be told that suicide is a straight ticket to hell you're not going to heaven committing suicide sorry self- murder is murder that you don't get to repent of and if you destroy the temple of God in this life you will be destroyed in the next which is eternal so don't tell so this is what I'm saying we got people sitting in the sometimes in the church this small we got people dealing with all these things and you got to be specific and it it it it blows my mind it blows my mind and this is what you need to you say well if I if I get specific with my some of my family members or my friends or my co-workers or my neighbor they ain't never going to talk to me again well guess what that's not what God is worried about he wants you to preach the truth to them the word the cross get specific about Sin that they need to repent of and guess what they might get upset with you at first like I did my the guy that led me back to the Lord but a few weeks later you know what I'm doing I go from wanting to punch him in the face to drive in there on my day off and saying you got to pray with me I got to get my life right with God I don't want to upset anybody we got to be Seeker sensitive the great evangelist Charles finny called that giving false Comfort to sinners in fact Charles finny said you got to make Sinners uncomfortable you got to remove every place they have and he boy was he ever the Evangelist and he he reserved the front row he called it the anxious seat and he would tell people if you feel anxious about your salvation come up here and sit right here he wanted you to be uncomfortable if you were not right with God if you were not born again if you were not truly saved and walking with Jesus as you should and you were anxious about that he wanted you to come upfront so that you would get even more anxious about it but finny when people came to Jesus
Through Charles finny's meetings he was a content temporary with a guy named Moody y'all ever heard of Dwight Moody and yes let me tell you hundreds of thousands of people got saved through the ministry of Charles finny hundreds of thousands of people got saved through the ministry of Dwight Moody but guess what they did a little study years later and found out that the converts of finny 85% of them stayed faithful to the Lord while only 10 to 15% of Moody's convert stayed faithful to why do you think that is well Moody beli once saved always sa Moody taught that greasy graay stuff that sloppy agapy stuff right but see the people that had the fear of God that got anxious about there and truly repented and had the fear of God in their hearts about Sin and understood it because finny would make it clear Not only would they repent and get saved get born again but then they would stay they would be faithful in that finny even said in his great book Revival lectures he said if any Minister makes it sound like that if you get saved you're safe forever he said you will almost assuredly condemn that man to hell because they will lose the fear of God and they will they will have a laxidasical attitude toward sin creeping into their life somebody say Amen or oh me and I'm going to finish with this one this will be number seven explaining to people making it clear what it means to be born again do not I do not hear this when Jesus said a man must be born again in John 3 when he said except you be born again you will not see the kingdom of God we have to explain that because we have to tell people because you know some people will repent in the sense that they will say oh I need I'm doing bad I need to quit like let's say we got a drug addict and the drug addict goes yep you know what the drugs are are are destroying my life I need to stop doing drugs or an alcoholic I need to stop drinking alcohol those things are good but that doesn't mean they're born again see that's repentance but repentance has to be coupled with true faith in Jesus and then the witness of the Holy Spirit coming in on that so that they know they've been washed in the blood of the Lamb they've been regenerated their dead Spirits made been made alive again and I tell people all the time there's a
lot of you know there's a lot of churchgoing folks that try to do good try to live and live moral lives for the most part not that they never sin but they live moral lives and they think I got it and you start asking them but have you been born again and they look at you like a dog looking at a new dish and you like they start turning their head like what do you mean have you ever had a moment where you know Jesus came came into you you felt his peace his presence his power you received what Romans 8 calls the witness of the holy spirit that you are born again that you are washed that you are cleansed I said because if you haven't had that then you haven't truly fully surrendered to Jesus to the point he can give you that see we've had a lot of people and I'm not against altar calls I know some people are totally against altar I'm not against altar calls altar calls are a good thing but that doesn't mean somebody goes to an altar and prays the Sinners pray does not mean they're born again because sometimes they're going up there to pray just because they want relief from their problems they just want things to be better they haven't they haven't understood the gospel message of full surrender to Jesus Christ and it's only when you're willing to say I'm going to make total surrender that you will get the witness of the Holy Spirit you understand say well Pastor de now I didn't fully understand it and God touched me when I was a kid yeah I understand God God has Mercy he will he any child seeking after him he will he will just hug you up and take you in but as you get to the age of accountability as you get older you're going to have to make that decision to fully surrender and then you will regain the witness of the Holy Spirit again you hear me and you have to have that one of my old pastors used to say and I've said it many times if you can be saved and not know it you can lose it and not miss it right my wife is talking to somebody on the phone my wife's said excellent counselor Hallelujah she handles a lot of it that I don't have to do but she's she Nails it and she was talking to somebody just the other day it's like have you been born again I remember hearing that and then once they talked about that for a minute have you been baptized in the holy spirit yet have you done your deliverance yet I mean I was like well she's covering all the bases there
but we've got to be able do you explain to people what it means to be born again I've told y'all the story of Barry I worked with on the construction crew see I'm telling y'all this because before I was preaching in pull pit I was on construction Crews talking to people about Jesus and this guy Barry went to church every Sunday sang in the choir oh he was a he he sang specials y'all know what that is anybody old enough to know what what specials were yeah sing specials you know he would do songs and he would sing and oh he had a he had a voice on Sunday but every Friday and Saturday he was out drunk as a skunk drunk and insexual sin sober up Sunday morning go to church and sing with a choir robe on and finally went day the Lord had me confront Barry and said Barry Jesus said if you're not born again you will not inherit the kingdom of God have you been born again and I explained it to him and he he finally admitted no he was religious he was Faithfully religious he loved to sing them gospel songs kind of like kind of like Elvis Elvis would be backstage he'd be high on drugs walk out of her room after having sexual sin with some woman and set up with his with his buddies through the night singing gospel songs now how messed up is that none of that makes you born again none of it you have to surrender to Jesus lordship and repent of your sins believe he died for you believe he rose from the dead and be willing to say Lord my life is yours it's no longer mine whatever you want me to do that's what I'll do you see when I came back to Jesus at 19 and I had the modeling career and I was about to do the movies and all that stuff and I was in college and I wanted to play college football and I rehab my knee and I was going to play I had all these plans all these things I wanted to do but when Jesus revealed the truth to me I understood I knew from the moment he convicted me and I said yes that all of that was over see I wasn't just trying to add Jesus to my own agenda you hear me this is what so many Americans do well we'll just add Jesus to my own plans and my own agenda for my
life nope nope that's not the way it works you either surrender completely to his lordship and your life your previous life is over and you say Lord what will you have me to do and from this point on that's all I will ever say Lord what will you have me to do what's next what is your will your will be done in my life and I surrender to it that's what d the self is that's what's denying the denying yourself and taking up the cross and following him how many people have not done that there's no wonder that over half the church according to the Pew research poll back in the 90s said half the church in America when you when you pull them they are not born again because going to church singing in the choir being baptized trying to be a moral person in some sense saying I believe in Jesus all that stuff does not make you Born Again full surrender to him see it's not just repentance of sin that's part of it it's full surrender to his agenda your agenda dies you hear me oh Pastor Dean I really want to be a doctor or I really want to be a teacher or I really want to be a singer a musician or I really want to do this I really want to okay fine Dandy that's fine Dy but do you really want to do his will and you know what his will for you may be none of that stuff are you willing to die to that see I knew I mean I knew immediately from the Holy Spirit I could not go act in soap operas or movies and promote adultery and violence and murder and all this other stuff and then and then be a Christian I mean these these so-called Christians in Hollywood yeah right I remember that remember that Meme got passed around it was it was Dennis quaade uh talking about how he loved the Lord right everybody oh look the actor Dennis quaade he's a Christian look at him he says he loves the Lord that I called my friend in Hollywood that worked in Hollywood who knew Dennis Quaid had his arm around him in a picture on Facebook I was like hey Sam is Dennis Quaid Christian he goes no he's a Buddhist he's talking about Lord Buddha and all these Christians sharing this meme look at Denis Quade he's Christian and why do you even care again it's that celebrity worship oh we got to have a celebrity
no and I doubt that Quaid is a good Buddhist now I'm not saying they can't somebody can't get saved they can Sam did left H left I told Sam you know what Sam started calling me he worked with all these people in Hollywood we grew up with Sam and his brother Don but I told I you know Sam I was kind of mentoring discipling him from a distance he had called me all the time we talk all the time and I said Sam you know if you keep talking about Jesus like you are in Hollywood they're going to kill you right so then he gets called up he told me about this he got called up to a big fancy high-rise Penthouse he said the the people guarding the doors were not human said he went in and he was told by high up people in Hollywood you will shut up talking about Jesus you know what happened to him right after that I told him get out of there they're going to try to kill you and you know what happened a car slammed into him I believe it was on purpose he had a severe head injury nearly died took years to recover and still is not fully recovered but he's back here in Alabama now cuz he he lives up in north Alabama and he and he and he will tell you he said I I did his mom's funeral a few years ago and he said he said you told me you told me to get out of there one of the last things he did he went to a film festival or some some kind of thing with uh Cameron James Cameron and the dude that was in um I can't remember his name the actor that was the the main uh guy in uh what's the blue people movie I can't remember avar Avatar yes um he goes to this this film and they had all these new age tents where people would you know lay hands on you and prophesy over you and all I said I said Sam whatever you do don't go to this thing he's like well I got to go I promise I told him I go I said okay don't let any of these new age freaks lay hands on you or prophesy over you and he told me he went into one of them tents and they started laying hands and prophesying over him you know with the crystals and the triangles and and it was after that he nearly died Sam you got to get out of there I say that just just to tell you there's things like Sam Sam wanted to work and be in that world that was his agenda and he was very successful at it what he was doing and he was working with some of the top people in the industry and had his own show there for a while but the Lord it was like you can't have that world and Jesus and the day came where
and I praise God you know it was Sam by the way y'all it was Sam that sent me the first Flat Earth video that woke me up but he'll tell you right now you told me to get out of there they going to kill me I said yeah cuz there Hollywood's ruled by Satanist so rued by Satanist so how you think you're going to you're going to do that world and be successful in it when they control everything and be a Christian no you you will be forced to choose but guess what that's really just ever that's all of life you are forced to choose do I add Jesus to what I my agenda or to does my agenda die and I follow Jesus now I say this to you because this is what you must preach if you're going to preach the gospel truly effectively powerfully if you're going to see Soul safe this is the wisdom you have to use this is wisdom and really what does the Bible say about wisdom wisdom is simple true wisdom is Peaceable easy to being treated it's simple these things are simple if you do them you will have an effect on people you will be a soul winner you will make an impact even if some of the people don't get saved right then you will have put the sword of the spirit the arrows of the Lord in them and they will not be able to get them out and you will become an effective Soul winner someone who bears fruit because you're not afraid to preach it and tell it like it is amen let's stand well 12:00 became 12:45 but hey we only get one Sunday you know every week so I got to give you something something some Churches you know back in the old days he used to have Sunday Sunday morning and Sunday night church we just get both of ours together but I want to see everybody in this church everybody that listens to me becoming a person that wins Souls that's unafraid unashamed that doesn't hold back that has the understanding and the wisdom to be a soul winner that's what we're we're to seek and to say that which is lost we're to become Fishers of Men And if not we're just kind of spinning our
