[Music] well we offer our sacrifice of praise [Music] you worship the name of jesus christ of nazareth who died on that cross as the sinless spotless lamb of god lord you came to take away the sin of the world or you took upon you the sins of every man woman boy and girl then you rose from the dead three days later and you said that if we would confess our sins if we would repent and turn from them and surrender to the lordship of jesus christ to be obedient to the word of the living god the written word and to the leading of the holy spirit that we would become your disciples we would be born again [Music] nothing more important than that right there lord [Music] we thank you for the cross we thank you for your blood that was shed to wash our sins away we thank you for power that you've given to your children in the name of jesus power and authority over all the power of the enemy we thank you lord that greater thing that's in us and heeds in the world we thank you god that you still heal you still deliver from demons you still save to the utter muslim nothing is too hard for you we worship you today we praise you today hallelujah [Music] amen amen [Music] no go ahead brother [Music] well the our brothers shared a word with us first of all that someone here was weary and heavy laden just really needed to come to the lord and he refreshed you now that's you this morning i want you to step up here and let us pray for you this morning and [Music] go ahead and do that but he also said say it again foreign sound the alarm sound the trumpet the day of visitation is here blow the trumpet that's straight from joel 2 there it is here i'm telling you prophetically speaking 2014 is going to see some major changes in the world no doubt
so many people so many prophets so many men and women of god are sharing the exact same thing that this year will bring some unprecedented changes in our world [Music] all right [Music] just close your eyes lord we praise you holy spirit come in this place god whoever needed that refreshing lord let him be refreshed spirit soul and body times of refreshing god come from your presence lord he said when the church comes together the church can be edified or strengthened [Music] so lord just build that person up strengthen that person spiritually emotionally physically if it's someone listening right now lord i pray for spiritual strength to go into that person right now spiritually mentally emotionally physically lord let your presence go forth and strengthen and refresh that person or persons this morning that needs that lord we we believe your word and acts through the times of refreshing come from the presence of the lord it's not something we can work up it's not something we can make up lord there are times that we just run out of strength we run out of energy but lord you promised that we would mount up with wings as eagles we'd run and not be weary we'd walk and not faint that you would renew our strength you would renew our strength as the eagles so lord i pray that for somebody today that their strength would be renewed lord that their their weariness has caused them to become lukewarm and backslidden and just kind of uh neglecting the the joy of their salvation lord i pray that god that the strengthening the supernatural touch from heaven would fill them touch them strengthen them so that they can get back to just enjoying having the joy of their salvation and the energy and the strength to pray to fast to study that they'll have the joy and desire to be there with you to put forth the effort to be with you father we pray that in jesus name [Music] amen amen hallelujah well you may be seated this morning praise god again those of you that are listening by uh internet radio we just welcome you to fire and grace church uh if it's your first time i'm pastor
dean odle and we're here in opelika alabama auburn alabama area and again we welcome you we know people listen to the podcast from all over the world so hey if you're listening we welcome you let me switch these mics here and we'll get started test one two check all right i suppose we're on now all right um you know i've just been seeking the lord about what to do and i think we're just going to continue with with part two but i think you know the bible says that um in first thessalonians 5 that we're not supposed to despise prophesy matter of fact why don't we start there today i want you to turn with me go ahead and turn to first thessalonians chapter 5 while i look up something here on my phone well that's something we didn't say twenty years ago everybody turn to first thessalonians chapter five you know last week the the message i guess we'll just called it uh new testament prophet prophets and the gift of prophecy and we talked about the importance of of hearing from god and talked about that god is still speaking today to his people to his children as jesus said in john 10 27 my sheep hear my voice and they follow me of course i shared with you how that my sheep hear and the verb here and the verb follow both are present tense greek verb present tense greek verb the definition of that is a continuous ongoing action that's taking place in the present so a present tense greek verb is something that never ends something that keeps going something that's happening right now and continues and has been continuing so for those that say out there you know the pharisees and the sadducees and the dead theologians that say that god quit speaking when the bible was finished when the canon was finished i'm sorry but the very bible that they say is is perfect and i agree with that but the bible they say is perfect says
that god continues to speak that his children continue to hear his voice notice it didn't say that they just continue to read his word it says that they continue to hear his voice i believe this and i'm just going to tell you there's a there are several things that we can that have weakened the church in the world and particularly in america and say in the uk and in europe but the church is is has became very weak very powerless um in america and the world but primarily for several reasons and i'm just gonna give you some that just on top of my head this morning but this is the reason some of the reasons for powerlessness in the church world and i'm going to focus in you know particularly on the gift of prophecy today even more in the gifts of the holy spirit even more but one of the reasons uh of course that the church loses power from the holy spirit number one is sin the moment we disobey god and choose to rebel and choose to do the things that he says not to do we're going to lose power no matter whether we know the truth or not knowing the truth is not enough and that's what i love about you know we've talked about those verses in second thessalonians chapter one um in hebrews and in uh hebrews five and in uh of course in in acts chapter five where it talks about god's you know hebrews 5 talks about jesus became the author of eternal salvation to those who obey him right we we read the scripture where it says god gives the holy spirit to those who obey him we read in fir you know ii thessalonians 1 that jesus is coming back in flaming fire he's going to take vengeance on those who do not know god and those who do not obey the gospel so obedience is absolutely necessary for the christian so if you want the power of god in your life you want the presence of god in your life you want to hear the voice of god and have the gifts of the holy spirit in your life you want to be baptized in the holy spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues and become a normal new testament christian the first thing you got to get down in your heart and in your mind is that i'm going to obey god i'm going to obey the written word i'm going to obey the holy spirit i'm going to truly make jesus lord you know i love this you know the verse that you know all of our baptist friends and i'm going to say most of the lukewarm dead church want to quote all the time about getting saved in romans 10 where it says that if you will confess with your mouth the lord jesus and believe in your heart that god has raised him from the dead you shall be
saved well everybody loves that because they think well all i got to do is say a prayer and believe that jesus is who he says he is and i'm saved no because here's the deal if you say lord jesus you're my lord lord means commander it means supreme ruler it means leader so if you say with your mouth jesus be my lord you're my lord but you don't do the things that he says or you have no intention on obeying him then you just told a lie and you are not saved because you have to accept him as the lord jesus and it's not what you say is what you do after what you say you hear me so the problem in the american church is two number two is we quit preaching the true gospel of jesus christ that includes repentance and obedience to the word of god we have another gospel now your sins are forgiven past present and future you can live in sin and still go to heaven once saved always saved that now they're calling it hyper grace but it's it's nothing new i love these new names we've got hyper grace no it was always been the doctrine of what saved always saved that came from calvinism it's not new hyper grace what i called it in 1997 when i wrote my book grace abuse i mean they act like this is a new concept grace grace has been being abused as long as as man has been created adam and eve abused it right but we have another gospel so if we won't preach the gospel we won't preach the word we won't have the power oh don't shout me down y'all might be quiet in here all right because here this is what mark 16 says mark 16 15-20 i love it i can quote it y'all write these things down i know i'm just giving you an introduction as well these are not this is not the message this is free the rest you're going to be charged a phenomenal fee for right go ye into all the world preach the gospel the gospel not a gospel not a baptist gospel not a presbyterian gospel not a methodist gospel the gospel written in the book written in the bible preached the gospel to every creature he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved he believeth not shall be damned and these signs shall follow them that believe my name they will cast out devils they will speak with new tongues they will take up serpents that has to do with binding demon spirits we're not picking up snakes right
if they drink any deadly thing you shall not harm they lay hands on the sick and they shall recover and then it says and the lord went with them they went everywhere preaching the word and the lord went with them working with them confirming the word with signs following right the power of god follows the preaching of the word of god and the obedience to the word of god so we have powerless dead churches because of sin and they won't deal with sin because of a false gospel that has taken out repentance and obedience and then the third thing is we have a church that has resisted and quenched the holy spirit i'm sorry if it if it offends people when i get on the institutional churches the traditional churches out there but frankly they're just about useless they're so contrary to what the bible says it amazes me that any true christian would darken the door of one of these mausoleums but the bible tells us don't quench the holy spirit you say well how do you quench the holy spirit okay here's one the baptism of the holy spirit the gift of tongues is not for today the gift of prophecy is not for today god's not speaking anymore god doesn't heal like he used to miracles don't happen anymore that stopped when the bible was finished all this mess oh you can be baptized in the holy spirit you don't have to speak in tongues really show me that in the bible we make up they make up stuff to explain why they quench resist and disobey the holy spirit and god just looks down at him and goes just looks at him like this you're rebels you're a bunch of rebels you're a bunch of disobedient people you're stubborn stiff-necked and it's only because of mercy and some of them are ignorant that i think he doesn't just burn down the whole thing because if you think about it you either believe this book here as a christian you either believe the bible and you accept the bible or you create your own version of the gospel and what church is supposed to be and what the christian life is supposed to be so pardon me if i get i get a little disturbed and upset about it because
i've seen so many people robbed of the things that they need see the obedience the repentance thing and the obedience thing and the truly making jesus lord thing is an eternal issue according to this book heaven or hell depends on that issue so to me this is a war over souls so i don't care how many degrees you got hanging on the wall i don't care how pretty your first baptist or first methodist or whatever first presbyterian i don't care how pretty your building is because most of them are not saving people they're killing people and sending them to hell because they do not preach the gospel of jesus christ they do not preach the word of god they do and they quench the holy spirit and resist the holy spirit now all three of those things sound like things that satan would do yet they are the churches in america and the west right oh boy truth hurts are you stepping on my toes some of you listening out there may be baptist myth i know i make him mad i don't care the word is the word let's look at a few things first thessalonians 5 let's just read it i love this part of course it's in an end time context and and that's important because you know we that's the time we're living in but we're going to start reading at verse 12 after he goes through some of his end time discussion there and he says this and we beseech you brethren to know them which labor among you and are over you in the lord and admonish you and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake and be at peace among yourselves now we exhort you brethren warn them that are unruly what's unruly mean warn them that are unruly that's people who don't want to hear what god has to say he said walk disorderly well what is to god what is walking disorderly you don't walk according to his word you don't want to do things according to your so he says warn them right it's kind of what i'm doing this morning y'all don't realize in the month of december let me just give you a little hint why i get on some of these things well you think well pastor dean we don't need this we got this three thousand podcasts were downloaded in december three thousand either views it was probably about 3 500 views plus downloads meaning a view
means people listened without downloading and then there were about 500 downloads just in the month of december 500 downloads plus 3 000 listening egypt germany brunei i mean all of malaysia indonesia so what god told us about our little church is happening they're listening all over the world but here's what he says here let's keep reading warn them that are unruly comfort the feeble-minded support the weak be patient toward all see that none render evil for evil unto any man but ever follow that which is good both among yourselves and to all men rejoice ever more pray without ceasing in everything give thanks for this is the will of god in christ jesus concerning you quench not the spirit despise not prophesying prove all things and hold fast to that which is good abstain from all appearance of evil and the very god of peace sanctify you holy and i pray god your whole spirit soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our lord jesus christ so here's one of the first new testament books written by the apostle paul probably somewhere around a.d 52 or so 50 to 52 somewhere in that range and he's given instructions to the church now here's another reason before i even get on the prophecy issue one of the reasons the church lacks power is a lack of prayer both private and corporate prayer whenever there has been power and revival in a church there has always been an amazing spirit of repentance and a desire to obey god again a returning to god in his word to his truth and there's always been a powerful prayer movement connected to it but it works for a church and it works personally in your life i remember when i was young in the lord when i first came there was an old saying that the old pentecostals used to have they used to say this little prayer little power a lot of prayer a lot of power so we lack prayer we lack fasting jesus said there's certain demons you can't deal with there's certain miracles
you won't see without prayer and fasting right but see here's one and of course what i'm thinking is when he says quench not the holy spirit quench not don't put out the spirit's fire now what is the spirit's fire what is the fire of the holy spirit well i can preach on that for a while number one number one let me just number one number one number one number one number one the holy spirit is fire that you're not supposed to quench meaning what he desires to do what he wants to do in your life fire the first thing about fires it purifies right and i would imagine that the holy spirit of god almighty whom he wants to put in you and give you desires his fire his burning passion would be first to make you holy novel idea that the holy spirit would be concerned about holiness right see a lot of people stop right there that's where the fire gets put out because they don't want holiness what is holiness holiness means you come apart from the world you come apart from that which is unclean that which is sinful that which is lustful that which is demonic that which is the cultic that which is evil that which is the distraction that that which is an idol maybe to you you come out from among them and be ye separate saith the lord and you touch not the unclean thing that's what second corinthians 6 says so so again the holy spirit's fire his passion his desire is to get you to come out from among them to be different than the world to be different than the dead christians and and to deal with this issue of personal holiness but after that the second thing he wants to do in your life is lead you and guide you into all truth right what did you we read it last week john 16 says when he the holy spirit has come he will not speak of himself but that which he hears he will speak he says he will show you things to come
and he will glorify me jesus said so he's going to lift up jesus he's going to lift up the truth he's going to guide you into all truth so the holy spirit's fire and passion he's passionate about truth he's passionate about the true gospel the true word of god the word is rightly divided the truth whether it hurts your feelings or it doesn't hurt your feelings he's about the truth amen he doesn't like lies he doesn't like half truth he doesn't like deception the holy spirit is passionate about these things and here's the thing if you want to buddy around with the holy spirit that's what we're supposed to be right you got to be about what he's about see here hear me you're either all about what the holy spirit's about or you're about what satan and the worldly people are about it really is simple y'all and you wonder why well why didn't god do this for me and why don't we see this miracle why don't i flow in this gift or why in the power of god working in my life and the holy spirit's going maybe if you were fired up about the things i'm fired up about maybe more of this will happen see i think we've just been hanging on by the skin of our teeth for the most part and that it's just been god's mercy to get us this far because we've all been a bunch of inconsistent rebels worldly minded distracted easily lazy don't want to pray don't want to fast don't want to be excited about the holy spirit can i just tell you this i'll be honest with you if you don't have a private prayer life that's consistent you're quenching the holy spirit's fire in your life you mean you're showing god it really doesn't matter see what you're living off of if you're doing it you're living off of fumes nothing in the tank you're living off of fumes or what few drops you might get from somebody else oh some people try to live the christian life on what they get in church on sunday morning if that or maybe they might try to live off an article they read on the internet and they live off that the rest of the week
not good enough y'all don't quench the holy spirit now let's let's go back to this y'all okay remember the dead church the dead christian they're the ones that are abnormal it's normal to be on fire to be passionate about what god's passionate about so he says here in first thessalonians 5 19 quench not the spirit do not i love it do not put out the spirit's fire that's that's the the way it's defined the translation of it quench not the spirit do not put out the spirits fire and then right behind that the next thing he says is despise not prophesy don't despise prophesying what is prophesying we covered that last week when the holy spirit moves on somebody to speak something by the inspiration of god and god is speaking and saying something now saying something direct to a church saying something direct to you personally saying something direct to a community or a nation or a city or a leader but prophesying is when god is talking through someone and like i said last week it's more than just reading a scripture it is the holy spirit coming upon a person and speaking through them it may be a scripture but it's a scripture that'll that'll that'll be for that moment for that time for that situation or it may be a very specific word for you or for that church or for that city and here he says despise not prophesying the word despise here means don't take it lightly when god truly speaks prophetically to you to your church like he did this morning through andy or like he does through me sometimes or nancy or through bill or through kevin or through paul or when god cherie or or who when god speaks through tongues and interpretation i'll say this the gift of tongues with interpretation paul made it very clear is equal to is prophecy operating in the church so sometimes we have a tongue and an interpretation sometimes we just have like andy did this morning he felt god give him a word that's a word of prophecy but how many times how many of you can can actually remember by the next sunday what word of prophecy was given in church
that's called taking it lightly but but let's just let's just that was just a side note let's just step aside on that one but how do you have the bible say don't despise prophesying and we have entire denominations and seminaries and bible colleges that say that there is no such thing anymore folks just let me just put it this way most of the churches most of the bible schools most of the seminaries are completely owned and controlled by satan that's why they despise prophesying now let me show you how important prophesying is go to first corinthians 14. everybody there first corinthians 14 oh this is good stuff i want everybody to say in this room even the children i want you to say this with me this morning i can prophesy as the holy spirit as the holy spirit leads me i should desire to prophesy in church two people anywhere anywhere say what are you saying that for well let's read it first corinthians 14 right verse one follow after charity or love and desire spiritual gifts but rather that ye may prophesy so he says here to desire spiritual gifts and i believe all of them i want them all right and i've operated in all of them at one point or another but he says desire spiritual gifts but then he singles out how important it is to prophesy and remember last week we defined prophecy or the gift of prophecy as both edification exhortation and comfort but it also means to foretell future events right so sometimes the word of prophecy is
just to encourage somebody sometimes the word of prophecy is about the present sometimes it's even a word about the past to deal with the problem in the present it's a supernatural revelation it's a supernatural inspiration and it is also a foretelling of things before they happen remember i told you the very definition of prophecy goes to the word prophets but it means this an inspired speaker who foretells events before they happen that is the new testament greek definition of the gift of prophecy and so here the first thing he says to this to the corinthians in this chapter he says follow after love and desire spiritual gifts and the word desire there means to lust after long for desire spiritual gifts but mostly that you may prophesy that you may hear what god is saying at the present time and then you say what he is saying oh come on now and see this is what i love all of god's people can do this if they ever draw close enough to him it's not just for prophets it's not just for fivefold ministries it's not just for pastors and teachers and evangelists and apostles and prophets it's for all of god's children and some people say well you know i believe that that was done away with you know when after the first century or after the 12 apostles or when the bible was finished they got all these when it was done type things but how this one they can't deal with acts chapter 2 god said in the last days i will pour out my spirit on all flesh your sons and your daughters will prophesy they will see visions they will dream dreams and then he says it right before there's blood and fire and pillars of smoke meaning right up to the time of world war three the destruction armageddon the end the second coming of jesus christ he said your sons and your daughters well guess what i didn't see any women in the 12 apostles so obviously he met so this is going to continue past the apostles sons and daughters prophesying dreaming dreams that are from god having visions from god amen and god says desire this long for this want this lay hold on this do this listen there's nothing more important after jesus is lord of your life and you're baptizing the holy spirit listen you are supposed to be a voice for god in the world
to everyone around you to every creature that you can that you can get within the sound of your voice you're to be a prophetic witness for god meaning you don't know just what god said you know what god is saying now amen now are there a lot of fruit loops out there and screwed up the seed people and false prophets yes but you know what i've shared it many times before i don't care if i get a phony hundred dollar bill and get hassled you know by the secret service that doesn't mean i'm gonna be done with money you know yeah i've been hassled by the false ones i've seen the false ones i've had false ones lay hands with me and have to break off their curses and get buying the demons that came on me from them and get rid of i mean i fought false prophets my entire christian life but i'm not scared of the real i don't let the false guys in the fruit loops and the cereal heads as david copeland calls them the flakes and nuts i don't let them run me away from the real thing amen too many christians have run from the charismatic and pentecostal truths that are bible truths because we've seen the screwed up people and people have run away listen that doesn't even make sense let's just say you drank some nasty water it made you sick are you through drinking water no you just pay a little more attention to where you're getting it from right when i went to africa i had to be real careful even when i took a shower i couldn't let it drop get in my mouth huh you just got to be careful but if you quit drinking water you die well listen hear me yeah is the world full of false prophets and flakes and nuts and false supernatural mess of the devil that claims to be christian yes there's a lot of polluted water out there but i'm not going to let them keep me from drinking the pure water of the holy spirit i'm not going to die and be a dead dried up christian that has no power and nothing just because there's flakes and nuts out there polluting the water right look what he said let's keep reading i'm sorry i keep stopping let's just read first corinthians 14 right look back up let's just read 12. first corinthians 12 verse 1 i love this verse he said pastor why are you preaching on this because of this verse right here now concerning spiritual gifts brother i would not have you ignorant
oh my the church should not be ignorant and can i tell you a pet peeve of mine preachers that try to tell me how i should prophesy and operate in the gifts and they never have well you should speak in tongues like this and you should prophesy like this and this is how your prophecies should be if you're a prophet have you ever prophesied do you speak into no don't even presume to tell me how to do it a lot of experts out there know nothing right can't teach what you don't know can't lead where you won't go yet they try first baptist preacher preaching on acts a while back did a series on the book of acts that's funny to me they don't do any of it i know i know i know they know you know i don't doubt they're good sincere people but the bottom line is that's this is hilarious you're going to preach acts 2 acts 10 acts 19 baptism holy spirit speaking in tongues and prophesying but you don't do that in your church at all bizarre we live in a bizarre world the church words a world is a weird place that you can lose your soul in if you're not careful huh it's like i've had people try to tell me how to pastor and i asked them how long they pastored never that's what i thought [Laughter] you know all right let's read this follow after charity back to 14 follow after charity and desire spiritual gifts but rather that you may prophesy for he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men but unto god for no man understandeth him how be it in the spirit he speaketh mysteries but he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification and exhortation and comfort edification building up encouraging strengthening exhortation means to call near to christ to give warning if need be and to comfort people you know when nancy and i were getting ready to well you know when we found out that we were going to have to move and didn't have a place to move and didn't have money to move and all these things you know you you find yourself as christian sometimes in difficult places right and god has a guy that i hadn't seen in over 10 years a friend of mine that i hadn't talked to
we kind of lost each other and has a guy pull over to the side of the road because the presence of god hit him so strong and gave him a word of prophecy for me and nancy about our situation i haven't talked to the man in that i guess 11 or 12 years he knows nothing of what has gone on in my life and knows nothing about what was going on in my life but he gave a word of prophecy that spoke directly to our situation gave details that came to pass shortly thereafter that let us know the first part came to pass so the last part will come to pass and it was a great comfort to us through a very difficult transition that we were going through so that's why he's talking about comfort well he told me he was driving down the road he lives in florida down in central florida he had to pull over the side of the road god gave him my name and said you need to give him this where you to find him he didn't have my phone number you find him and give and tell him this say well why didn't god just give it to you because you know what god can speak through anybody and here's the christian the the humble christian you can be a mighty prophet you can hear from god all the time doesn't mean that god's going to talk to you all the time he's going to he's going to see if you're open to listen to somebody else pastors have a real hard time with it pastors who aren't prophets and don't understand prophets have a hard time when god sends them a prophet well i hear from god too well that's fine mr pastor but maybe god's just trying to see if you'll humble yourself and listen to somebody else for a change right anyway that was free he that prophesied speaking of demanding edification exhortation and comfort look at verse four he that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifies himself so it's important how many of you babe look up the definition real quick edify what is it and speak it out loud give me the greek definition yeah construct build construct confirm confirm embolden word confirm can also mean strengthen right so he said he that prays in an unknown tongue strengthens emboldens confirms himself builds up himself so say this with me everybody it's important to pray in tongues why would you want to forfeit self-education when god's provided a way for you to strengthen yourself spiritually don't understand it
again bizarro world right but then he says this he says he that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself but he that prophesieth edifieth the church oh my goodness prophecy is to confirm strengthen build and embolden the church you want to know why the church is so weak and fearful and timid and not doing because there there's a lack of prophecy in the church i'm talking about prophets and and people standing up with the gift of prophecy and speaking this true word from god the strong word the word that needs to be heard now so we have a weak church like i said there's me i gave you many reasons this morning but one of them is this quenching of the holy spirit and this despising of the gift of prophecy and prophets oh if you have dreams and visions right you're weird man we don't we don't want you listen i got invited to a pastor's thing of pastors of big churches around here but once they realized i was true pentecostal and unashamedly pentecostal and not in with their contemplative prayer and all these other things that they're i didn't even get invited but matter of fact well i i was invited to the next meeting but they changed the time and place and didn't tell me and then i never got invited to the next one oh yeah big church here big big church in auburn right but i don't care i was even nice in that meeting they asked me to share my testimony i shared it i guess that offended them i don't know don't care really but they despise prophets and prophecy dreams and visions and so what happens what is the result of a church a pastor a christian that quenches the holy spirit quenches the gifts despises or resists or doesn't esteem prophecy the gift of prophecy i'm going to tell you what happened they get weak they get lukewarm and they die let me show you a verse hold your spot in first corinthians 14 and go to proverbs 29 proverbs 29 verse 18 probably one of the most
misused scriptures in the bible by your mega church people and by your pastors that long to be mega church pastors more than they long to preach the truth proverbs 29 verse 18 everybody's heard this verse where there is no vision the people perish but he that keepeth the law or is obedient to the word happy is he everybody see that where there is no vision the people this is not a mission statement this is not oh we're going to sit down our vision this is our vision that's not what this is talking about this is the most misused misinterpreted rinsed out of context scripture in the modern american church here's what it means when he says where there is no vision the word there in the hebrew means prophetic revelation meaning there's no where there is no prophet with a word of prophecy with a vision and dream from god the people perish or in the hebrew means cast off restraint and living sin basically means to be stripped naked so he says where there is no prophetic revelation no vision no dream no supernatural word from god the people perish they get weak they're stripped naked of their armor and their clothing they wander around oh come on now you hear what i'm saying you won't know why we have a weak church it's because they're a non-profit organization you got a lot of teachers you got a lot of of want to be guys who want a salary they want a title they want accolades they want the praises of men but they don't want anything to do with the true word of god with the prophetic word of god or with prophets of god i got news for jesus christ of nazareth called himself a prophet when he said a prophet is not without honor except in his own house and his own country among his own kin he was talking about himself jesus christ let me just say this the lord jesus when he came as a man and was anointed and filled with the holy spirit the bible calls him listen to this calls him the apostle and high priest of our profession he called himself a prophet he was called teacher shepherd or pastor
and of course when he said i have come to seek and to save that which is lost he was an evangelist and it's amazing he healed the sick and he cast out demons and he drove the dead religious crowd nuts and he's the one who said the disciple shall be as his master the disciple of jesus christ should be just like a prophet teacher an evangelist you know what i'm saying how does a god who is the creator who is by virtue of his being who he is is super natural how did he stop being that when he gave us a book y'all know what i'm referring to don't you were you holding your place in first corinthians 14 back up to first corinthians 13 here's here's the pharisees the sadducees the academy you know academia macadamia nuts with four or five degrees no more greek in hebrew than me but somehow can't understand a greek verb tense i don't know i'm just rambling at this point all right sometimes i just let you all know my thoughts are just kind of my amusing these guys no more greek and hebrew than me but yet they don't know the definition of a present tense greek verb i don't get it but let's look at it first corinthians 13. here's what they try to say let's let's go down to oh verse 8. this is this is the this is the only passage that they use to try to say that prophecy the gift of prophecy the gifts of healing the gifts of tongues all that's no more for today this is what they twist and use it's all they got so you deal with this you shoot this down they're not even with bon jovi they're not even living on a prayer right all right let's read it verse 8 charity never fails but whether they be prophecies they shall fail whether there
be tongues they shall cease whether there there be knowledge it shall vanish away for we know in part and we prophesy in part but when that which is perfect is come then that which is in part shall be done away so it does talk about a time when there will be no need for the gifts of the holy spirit right and it talks about when that which is perfect is come right now what they say is oh that's when the scriptures were finished doesn't say that here so it's speculation it's assuming it's the worst kind of presumption in the symbol right but he says this he lets us know what he's talking about because paul goes on he says but we'll read verse 10 he says but when that which is perfect is come then that which is in part shall be done away when i was a child i spake as a child i understood as a child i thought as a child but when i became a man i put away childish things for now we see through a glass darkly but then in the context of what he's talking about he said when and then those are connected that connects this whole right he says but then he says but then face to face now i know in part but then shall i know even as i'm known face to face when that which is perfect let me let me just go and tell you all this i'm gonna say it i might get some bad emails but hear what i'm saying i believe the word of god the written word from genesis to malachi matthew revelation i believe it is inspired infallible but folks it is not jesus christ in this sense it is only a partial revelation because even the apostle paul who wrote most of the new testament and knew all of the old testament said now we know in part we prophesy in paul we see through a glass but then on the day we see him face to face is the day the bible says in first john 3 when we see him in that moment we will be changed and be like him and all knowledge that he has will be in us and us in him we will be one with the lord there will be no more knowing in part that's why he says you'll know it all the moment that jesus comes or you die and go to be with him the moment you see him face to face
is when there's no more need anymore for prophecy or tongues or knowing in part or seeing a vision then you understand the mystery of the church was revealed in the same as the mystery between a man and a woman becoming one when they get married he says when that day we become fully one with the lord we will have the mind of christ we will have no need of anything else and they and they love saying you know tongues will cease and prophecies will cease it says knowledge will vanish away what does that mean it means the quest for knowledge the quest for learning do we still need to learn now yes but when jesus comes and we see him face to face and we're changed in the moment in the twinkling of an eye and we get the the body that he has and we get the full glory that he has and we get that new body and we're with him it says there will be a full download of all that god is will be in us and all that he is we will be in him that's how we are going to be that's a phenomenal idea being one with the lord what he thinks you will know i mean we have a real weak example but you know a man and a woman that love each other has been married a long time most of the time they don't even have to talk they know i even tell her sometimes are you thinking loud stop we're one i know what she's thinking sometimes and i'm not talking about going by some expression on her face i just know what she's thinking sometimes can you imagine what it's going to be like when we see jesus face to face and we're one with the lord and the mind of christ and the full revelation of god is downloaded into us and we're given a body that can handle it all people ask me something this is a funny question well now if we get up there is a possibility that some of us could disobey god and fall away up there and i'm like man all this world and all this junk that seems so important to people now is going to be completely faded remember when he says i'ma wipe the tears from their eyes no weep no more you know why you're gonna he's gonna like the tears from your eyes and you're gonna weep no more because all that pain and sorrow and death and everything that this world brought up it's gonna be gone for good just that reason alone why would you want to miss heaven
they got no leg to stand on folks god has not changed god's people are to be a prophetic people a people who hear his voice who have dreams from him who have visions from him who are led by him this is good stuff amen now let me finish with this we could go on and read the whole thing about prophecy you can just re you can read there are people trying to say you know paul said you know i let's just skip let's we'll skip over verse 18 he said i thank my god i speak with tongues more than y'all now here's a church that was speaking in tongues too much in public and paul said now hello i speak in tongues more than all of you do yet in the church i'd rather speak five words with my understanding that i might teach others also than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue but here's what i love look at verse 23. well let's go back back up to verse 22. wherefore tongues are for a sign not to them that believe but to them that believe not that amazing that there are churches that don't want to have tongues in their sunday morning service that god said they're assigned to the unbeliever we don't want to offend them new people visitors so we're not going to have tongues and search completely opposite of what god says right but prophesying service not for them which believe not but for them which believe if therefore the whole church become together in one place and all speak with tongues and they're coming those that are unlearned or unbelievers will they not say that you are mad but if all prophesy here's what i love if all prophesy and there come in one that believeth not or one that is unlearned he is convinced or convicted of all meaning prophecy should convict him and convince him that jesus is real that the holy spirit is real that he that god is in your church so he should be convinced look at that of all he is judged of all and thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest so that falling down in his face he will worship god and report that god is in you of a truth wherefore or how is it brethren when you come together every one of you have the psalm hath the doctrine have the tongue have the revelation hath an interpreter let all things be done onto edifying if any man speak in an unknown tongue let it be by two or the most by three and by course let one interpret so it so a lot of people use that verse for paul said i'd rather speak five words with my understanding in church until they take that out of context saying like paul's saying don't have tongues in church right here he says hey if any man speak in an unknown tongue in church let it be by two or three and let somebody interpret so in church there's an order for it
he says but if there be no interpreter let him keep silence in the church and let him speak to himself and god so still he didn't say no tongues right let the prophets speak that's those called to the fivefold ministry of being a prophet let the prophet speak two or three and let the others judge if anything is revealed to another that said by let the first hold his peace for you may all prophesy wow for you may all prophesy one by one that all may learn and all may be comforted and the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets meaning you can control when you speak if everybody started trying to interrupt pastor dean this morning that would be out of order and that's why he says for god is not the author of confusion but a peace as in all the churches of the saints now drop down i just want you to read this i love verse 37 he says if any man think himself to be a prophet or spiritual let him acknowledge that the things that i write unto you are the commandments of the lord but if any man be ignorant let him be ignorant wherefore brethren covet to prophesy forbid not to speak with tongues let all things be done decently in order so what is a church that says no prophecy today no prophesying in our church don't speak in tongues in our church what are they i'll tell you what they are disobedient rebels quenching the holy ghost and some of them god's just given up on them because they're ignorant and he's decided to let them stay ignorant you wanna know why some people won't listen to you that's why they're ignorant and god's gonna let them stay ignorant i'm gonna share this with you i'm going to share this word and we're going to we're going to quit we're going to pray because i know i've gone kind of long today desire these things i want to see the kids flowing in it john that means you you're going to turn loose to some things though you're too distracted by the world and you know it but there's a call of god on you and the devil's trying to rob it from you and you will either let him or you'll fight him and you'll take hold of what god has for you and and frankly i don't care how young you are you have no time to waste time is short those of you remember that i shared that god gave me a word on
new year's eve night the lord spoke a word very strongly to me and he said the word unprecedented that the year of 2014 would be unprecedented and unprecedented things would happen in our economy our environment terrorism warfare and i mean that's a pretty bold statement because unprecedented means like we've never seen right but the lord also told me so there will be unprecedented things happen in individual believers lives that they will do things miraculous things operating gifts that they've never operated in even raise the dead some of us will see unprecedented miracles and glory and power from god and that we will even see an unprecedented we'll see people who just begin to lead many people to righteousness right so that was the word the lord gave me well i was looking at steve quayle's website last night and i don't know who this woman is there's a guy that shared a prophetic word that this woman gave and he said he goes he just vouched for he goes i know that she's a true handmaiden of the lord she's a true woman of god and she had this word the same night that i had the word for not i'm gonna share it with you and this is this is what the word is that she said um and this is what he says and i don't know who this td hale is but obviously he knows he knows steve quayle personally i guess but he said this is a word given to a handmaiden of the lord i had a strong feeling to share this because i know her to be a true saint of god and here's here's what she said i really kind of need my reading glasses so small but i'll try she said quote wells of trouble are on the horizon the earth is open for much sorrow and pain to be seen faith will be tried as the opening of hell increases the time to flee has come upon this people the heavens will reel and smoke at the effects of the sounds of war breaking forth times will change suddenly and new trouble will erupt daily things that have not been seen until this time the hurt will be seen on faces as they see and hear horrible sights and sounds will you stand and cry unto me when the eagle is seen falling from the sky and i believe that's a reference to the fall of the united states of america will you yet hope when the earth begins to shake violently and then she shares this do not lose hope my people for these things must be but the end is not yet
i long to see my own delivered out of the chaos of the falling society but you will see much of the effects of sin being judged as the fire falls from the skies never think that all is lost for you are mine and will come forth out of all the deep darkness and emerge in victory i will be with my people in mighty ways many will be delivered as the kingdoms of the earth are shaken to her core i will send a word as needed to show you my will for you my seed we will be as a well-watered garden in the midst of a dry desert let not your heart be troubled for all will fall into place and i will keep you in this hour of controversy men that thought themselves above the almighty but have not yet seen my mighty power unleashed so fear not when i let loose my wrath in many areas i will set you in a safe haven when needed i know this surprises you but do not be alarmed faith will come for each step of the journey i am leading this exodus and we will exit the burning do not lose sight of who is in control that was a word from the lord oh you can find that just go to stevequal.com and go to the alerts the q alerts and it should be the first thing up there anyway i just felt like that was a word and then of course when andy shared the prophetic word he had about sound the alarm blow the trumpet and you know and that's straight from matter of fact i want to read that i hope y'all are okay because the book of joel comes to my mind joel chapter 2 which is joel chapter 2 is where acts chapter 2 where peter was preaching that's what he quoted but in joel 2. well good y'all turning there i got it packed up to go you better get your revival watch on you know what that is don't you it's this one right here that's a revival watch watch it bring back bad memories [Laughter] there there you go was it joel chapter 2. you know and i believe joel chapter 2 joel chapter joel basically was a prophetic word for both the time in which joel was about to see in and about the last days
but when he said this here in verse 1 blow ye the trumpet in zion and sound an alarm in my holy mountain let all the inhabitants of the land tremble for the day of the lord cometh for it is nigh at hand a day of darkness and of gloominess a day of clouds and thick darkness as the morning spreads upon the mountains a great people and a strong there has not been ever the light neither shall there be any more after it even to the years of many generations a fire devours before them and behind them a flame burneth and the land is as the garden of eden before them and behind them a desolate wilderness and nothing shall escape this is what we're headed into when he says blow the trumpet in zion sound the alarm that was the alarm of war and i don't know if you all know this but within the trumpets the seven trumpets of revelation and as i've taught i believe that all five of the seven have blown already but within that chapter there chapter eight and nine of revelation he says that there are three woes and i believe that the first woe was the first trumpet was the first world war it killed 8 million people 8.2 million probably more than that but that's the generally accepted statistic i believe the second woe was the second trumpet was world war ii when the burning mountain fell into the ocean the first used of the atomic bomb one third of the ships were destroyed exactly one-third of the ships were destroyed in world war ii but it says there that that was i believe that was the second woe because 52 million people died probably more again but that's the accepted number and he said that there's one more woe there's a third vote now all the trumpets weren't war but the sixth trumpet is a war and it hadn't happened yet and the sixth trumpet says that one third of mankind will be killed by fire that there's going to be a war that's going to be global that will start out of the middle east that's the third woe so if that's the third woe and see a lot of people think that that they're going to think that this ward is coming to revelation 9 where they're going to think that's armageddon it's not armageddon armageddon will be about seven or eight years later everybody's put the term armageddon on with the coming world war no no revelation 9 war the third woe and armageddon two different events years apart but the third woe and i believe with the lord saying this this morning that's why i'm preaching this stuff y'all do not take this lightly we have entered the year that begins the
blood moons the signs in the heavens there are signs now in the sun and in the moon we are entering the time period of the third woe so when that word came forth this morning i heard him say blow the trumpet sound the alarm immediately that is the warning of an approaching war everything is going to change and i just want to add it is vitally important that you become a prophetic hearing the voice of god being led by the spirit of god christian amen everybody stand this morning let's pray thank you jesus heavenly father we come in jesus mighty name and we thank you that your word is true that your holy spirit speaks and directs us even as we read and study the word even as we preach and teach the word the holy spirit is the one we're to yield to god i pray in the name of jesus that everyone here everyone listening today everyone who will listen to these messages all over the world will understand that the only refuge the only safe place the only way to secure yourself for eternity is to surrender to the lord jesus christ of nazareth to turn from your sin to give up worldliness and evil and idols and idolatry and false religion and turn to the lord jesus christ and be washed in his blood that was shed on the cross believe in his resurrection and be transformed be born again and to live and dwell in him in this last hour that's coming upon the earth this hour of tribulation and trouble and war and persecution and deception the demonic alien deception is coming great signs and wonders of demonic nature from the devil is going to come and deceive many through the pope and other leaders in the world the antichrist is coming the world government is coming lord i pray in the name of jesus that you will strengthen us that you will make us a strong bold people not in fear not worrying but ready to be a light for jesus in this darkness
ready to be a prophetic people that hear what you're saying and speak by inspiration and even foretell events and and expose the secrets of men's hearts and lead many people to know jesus as their lord and savior that's what you want us to do lord we ask for your grace and help to do it and the lord would say to fire in grace church and for some reason bill this is specifically true for you the lord was saying to you don't be discouraged my brother this has been a time of preparation it's been a time of preparation for this church times of preparation can be frustrating discouraging tedious but it's been a time of preparation even these five years for our church that god has prepared us god has laid the foundation he's solidifying the foundation but the day of release to fulfill our destiny and our calling as a church and individually is soon upon us if you've been lingering behind time to catch up quickly you know if you're with a tour group and you start lingering and they move on catch up you're gonna have to put a little jog on a little run on catch up with everybody no big deal no harm no foul catch up amen all right
