Jesus [singing and music] Christ of Nazareth, God in the flesh, who died on the cross for our sins, [music] the only substitute, the only atonement, the only redemption, the only forgiveness. Yes. comes through [music] believing in your atoning death on that cross for [music] our sins and your shed blood

  7. that was sinless, holy, and then believing Lord [music] that you not just were the prince of life, but you are the prince of life and you rose from the dead and you're alive forever more and you have the keys of hell and death and you can give eternal life to any who will repent. repent, [music] turn from their sin and follow you, Lord. I pray today. I pray today, Lord, that people [music] will surrender. That they will surrender to your lordship. [music] Yes. They will believe. Thank you, Jesus. What you did on the cross for them to deal with their sin. [music] They'll believe in your resurrection. They'll ask you to come in to be Lord of their lives to wash them and cleanse them of all sin. And then Lord that they would turn and become your disciples. [music] Lord God I pray God and that you help us preach this gospel. Yes, Lord God. To the lost, to the deceived, to the dying world out there [music] is quickly racing toward judgment. Lord, we pray you give us your heart, your burden today to set the captives free. And it's in Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen. Amen. Praise God. Go ahead and give the Lord praise this morning. Hallelujah. You may be seated. We want to welcome everyone today. Um, you can turn me up a little bit if you don't mind. I don't know if it's the volume or my ears this morning. Is you hear a ring in there? All right, y'all. See if you can maybe Is that mic off right there? No, I see a lit red light on that one right there. Okay. Oh, I got you. Okay. All right. All right, we're figuring it out. Um, I want everybody to turn in your Bibles this morning to Mark chapter 16. Actually, kind of where we left off last week, but u going to share some things with I feel like the Lord laid on my heart for our church this morning. You know, last week the Lord gave me the scripture about stirring up the gift of God within you, right? Um, and how it's our responsibility. It's our responsibility to hunger and thirst for righteousness and to be filled. It's our responsibility once we've received the the baptism of the Holy Spirit to stir that up. And I talked about how you do that. Not just praying in tongues, but prayer, worship, um just sometimes it's just obeying something the Lord's told you to do. And

  8. you're going to be stirring up the gifts of God within you because you're going to be in obedience. Um, but I've entitled this this morning a real simple uh message, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. I mean, really, the whole purpose after you're born again and after you make Jesus truly Lord of your life and you draw near to him, he wants us to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to people around us. And a lot of us what happens is you know as we're going to read here in Mark 16 verse 15 he said go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. That is a command to every Christian. Not just pastors not just apostles prophets evangelists pastors teachers not just five-fold ministers or deacons or whatever. This is a command to all Christians. He didn't say sit in the church did he? He didn't say sit and be quiet. He said go and preach and go into all the world. So that means we got to figure out [cough and clears throat] who the Lord wants us to go to. Now for some of us it's simple. We work around people on your job, people you encounter, uh people you meet sometimes people you meet in the store. Um, and sometimes the Lord specifically may tell you, go preach or talk to this group of people over here. And this is what we have to be about. And we have to know how to do it because you know part of the armor is we put on what we shot our feet with what? Ah, come on. The preparation. Preparation of the gospel. Meaning you have to prepare yourself to preach the gospel. You have to know what to preach. And let me just say this too, and this is something you need to understand. Whether you're talking to an individual, a small group, a big group, whatever it may be, somebody on the job, this is another reason why you have to be close to the Lord and you have to be stirring up the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the sensitivity to the Holy Spirit because you're going to have to discern your audience. Everybody's not the same. Every group's not the same. Um, you know, when I started the campaign about a year ago, whatever, you know, not long after, Donnie was with me and we were at the state house [clears throat] and we had no idea. We were in there a couple hours or whatever. And when we walked out, we had no idea there was a LGBTQ whatever alphabet soup protest going on. There was just I don't know how many people were out there. a couple of hundred maybe and signs and the whole nine yards, right? And I had no idea that that day I was going to be

  9. preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to a group of homosexuals. So guess what? I needed to be prepared ahead of time for that. And I was I was ready, right? And I understood my audience. I knew who I was talking to. And I got them to calm down from their protest mode and actually listen. And that takes skill from being prepared ahead of time, right? And then I discerned my audience and I was able to share with them the gospel of Jesus Christ and they accepted. Now, did they get saved? Anybody get saved at that moment? No. Let me tell you what, there was tears in some eyes. There was a whole change cuz see there was a preacher out there being, you know, just telling them they all going to hell and they were all child molesters and stuff like that. It's not a way to win friends and influence people, right? Um, now some of that may have been true, but that his his approach did not get their ear. It just got their, you know, it just incited their already demonic, you know, agitation that they have within them. Um, and this is something, you know, in fact, let's put up the verse, uh, sec I mean, 1 Peter 3:15. And this is something the Lord's made stick with me for a long time. And it's it's our responsibility again. It's our responsibility to be prepared. And if you're prepared when you then the Lord can lead you into those situations. And this is when things get fun. When you see somebody's life completely transformed because you preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to them, they were convicted of their sins and they surrendered to Jesus. and you see how their life changed. Maybe they were suicidal. Maybe they were destroying themselves with drugs or alcohol. It's fun to help folks, y'all. It really is. Um, now fear again, it's usually fear that tries to keep us from doing this fear. You know, I don't know why we have this crazy fear of worrying about what people will think, but we do. It's a disease that you've got to shake off. All right. But it says here, "Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and be ready always to give an answer to every man that askketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear." So, it's really clear here that we're to be ready to give an answer. Somebody say, "Be ready." Be ready to give an answer. Now, why do we have

  10. to be ready to give an answer? Let me put up my second picture here because this is how people walk around. I almost called this message today pulling down strongholds. Now, usually when we think about that, we think about spiritual warfare in our own minds. But we are called to not just pull down the strongholds in our own minds. We're called to pull down the strongholds in other people's minds. See, people walk around like this with these strongholds of the devil, wrong thinking, wrong ideas, wrong ideologies, wrong beliefs. And they walk around like this. And really, I could have put a blindfold on this guy, too. They walk around with these strongholds in their mind and blindfolds across their eyes and it is really our responsibility the Lord has given us to go to them. Let me let me show you something. Go to um 2 Corinthians chapter 4. 2 Corinthians 4. Let's talk about if the gospel is hid. We'll show you something. 2 Corinthians 4, start at verse I think it's verse three. I can't remember. Yeah, here we go. So it says here, "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost, in whom the God of this world, Satan, and his fallen angels and his demons hath blinded the minds of them which believe not." So if somebody's not receiving the gospel, he tells us their mind has been blinded by the devil, by demons. But the way they that the devil does this is he puts into their minds um just wrong ideas, wrong doctrines, wrong belief systems that he is reinforced and built up in their minds. But he says here, Satan has blinded the minds of them which believe not lest the light. Somebody say lest the light. Un that word less just means unless see they remain in darkness. They remain blinded. They remain with strongholds in their mind unless the light of the glorious gospel of Christ who is the image of God should shine unto them. Then notice what he says in the very next verse, verse 5. He says, "For we preach not ourselves but Christ Jesus the Lord." Why do you think he goes straight to that?

  11. Cuz God has chosen the foolishness of preaching to save the lost. But they I I want to show them how I live. I'm not going to preach to them. Guess what? You supposed to do that already. Don't give me that. That's a copout to try to get away from preaching because a lot of people say, "Well, they just see how I live." Well, they better see that already. But you are called to preach the gospel, not just live it in front of them. You are called to preach it, proclaim it, speak it boldly without fear. Well, let's go back to that. He said, "Lest the light." Just remember that. Now, what did Jesus say to us in Matthew 5? Go. Somebody go to Matthew 5. Matthew 5:E1 17. It all not 17. I'm sorry. What is it here? Let's see. Let me turn to it. Matthew 5 verse14. I'm sorry. Verse 14. Let's read that. He said, "Ye, speaking to his disciples, his people, you are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid." Now the word here, the phrase, the verb is set. That phrase is a present participle meaning what? A city that's constantly, continually, currently set on a hill cannot be hid. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Right? Where am I? He says, "Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven. Let your light shine." So, meaning you are the light of the world. You understand that Jesus is the light of the world. But when he left, he said, "I'm going to live in you, live through you." Talking to his people, and you are now going to be the light of the world. But you choose whether you're going to be a city on a hill and let it shine or you're going to hide somewhere like in church on Sunday. If that's all you do all week long, or maybe you go to prayer and Sunday morning, that's good. But that's not being a light to the world. That's not going into the world and preaching the gospel. You see, they're going to stay blinded by Satan. They're going to stay with the strongholds in their mind until someone

  12. with the true gospel of Jesus Christ, the true light of Jesus shines in their minds. That's the only hope they have. How shall they hear without a preacher? And then what Isaiah say? Here I am. Send me. This is the way we're supposed to be. Lord, send me to them. But say some of them won't listen. They won't listen. They're hard-headed. Guess what? That's not The Lord didn't say, "Well, just depends. If you think they'll listen, then go." Right? In fact, some of the times, some of the people that actually end up coming to Jesus because you talk to them at first oppose you and resist you and hate you and and and become your enemy. And that's okay because the gospel of Jesus Christ should provoke a response. If it's truly preached, it should agitate the fool out of the demons in that. It should convict them of sin. And conviction of sin is not comfortable. It's not a nice feeling. So a lot of people when they start feeling that when that light starts penetrating, it's uncomfortable because they are they are used to the darkness. They have lived in it their whole lives. They are they are accustomed to it and some of it they're very comfortable with. So when you bring in something that makes it uncomfortable, you're going to get resistance. That's okay. That is still a good sign that you're preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to them. Now, let me sh let me share this with you. There's a lot of people that get in their heads, you know, that walk around and they think, well, ju tell people just tell somebody Jesus loves you. That's not preaching the gospel. Everybody go, "Yeah, thank you." and move right on. Sure, whatever. And they'll just move right on. Oh, Jesus loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. That's not the gospel either. Y'all hear me? Or how about this? Inviting somebody to church. Now, there's nothing wrong with these things that I'm saying, but they're not preaching the gospel. So you say what is preaching the gospel? All right, first of all, it's the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is about who he is. Okay, let me give you an example. Islam talks about Jesus. They call him Issa, right? And here's what's wild is for some reason the world out there thinks when when a Muslim talks about Jesus that they're talking about the same Jesus we're talking about. as the Christians and they try to make out like they're talking about the same Jesus, but their

  13. Jesus is not God in the flesh. They deny Jesus is God Almighty in the flesh. They even deny his title as the son of God as well. They deny he died on the cross for our sins. In fact, the Islamic religion is completely antirist. And the Issa of Islam is not the Jesus of Christianity. And so, if we're going to preach the gospel, we must be clear about whom we're preaching. We're preaching the Jesus Christ of the Bible. The Jesus Christ who fulfilled the over 300 prophecies from the Old Testament hundreds and even thousands of years before he came. That Jesus, the Jesus who is called wonderful counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting father, and the prince of peace, who's also called the son. And if we don't preach who he really is, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, fully God, fully man, all at the same time. If we don't proclaim that, we are not preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. It's that simple. And for a lot of people, you've got to make that clear. Not just to the Muslims, but to the Jehovah Witnesses, the Mormons, a lot of people out there. If you ask them who is Jesus, they'll go, "Oh, he was a great uh spiritual teacher, a great leader or a great prophet." They have to know who he is. So, if we're preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, we are clearly presenting and defining who he is from the scriptures. That's why Paul told the Corinthians, "When I came to you, I preached the gospel according to the scriptures." Well, guess what? At that time, there was no New Testament written. He was preaching the gospel of Jesus according to all those prophecies that Jesus fulfilled. Like Psalm 22 when it says his hands and feet would be pierced a thousand years before where he would be on the cross. Psalm 22, it says, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? They've pierced my hands and my feet. They surround me with these these Gentiles surround me. They part my garments. They they cast lots for my garments. I mean, how specific can you get? David writing that by the Holy Spirit a thousand years before him. Psalm 53, he would be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. He would be striped. he'd be beaten upon his back for our healing. You know, the the the Jews in Israel, the the Orthodox Jews, them evil ones,

  14. they don't even want they, you know, they'll read the whole Bible except they leave out Isaiah 53. Cuz the moment a true Jew hears Isaiah 53, they know who he's talking about. You'll see the tears come. I brought tears to the eyes of a MSAD agent security individual in Israel by quoting Psalm 53, I mean Isaiah 53 to them from top to bottom. And you could tell when I said Jesus is Jehovah. He is Yahweh. Tears start running. She threw my stuff back in my suitcase fast she could get it and you must go on your way. You said that's where the power is. See, in the in the gospels, what this makes some people bad. It's to the Jew first and then to the Gentiles. What Paul said in Romans 1, this Jew hating stuff is is not of God. I'm just going to tell you that right now. Now, you cannot agree with what the government of Israel does, that's fine and dandy. But hating Jewish people and trying to lump them all together is they're all the same. You wouldn't want somebody to lump you in a bad group and just say you're all the same, right? And we're to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. So number one, we got to preach who he is. Then you have to be accurate in preaching what he did. You see, if you don't preach the cross of Jesus Christ, if you don't preach that he had to die so that you could be saved, so that your sins could be washed away. If you don't talk about his shed blood, then you're not preaching the gospel. That's why this J Jesus loves you, has a wonderful plan for your life, that's not the gospel. See, people must be made to know you are a sinner and your sins were put upon him. Your sins helped nail him to the cross. And he was thinking about you when he was there. I believe it started in the garden of Gethsemane. The weight of everyone's sin coming upon him. You have got to preach the cross and the blood of Jesus Christ shed for sin and that it is the only way to salvation. This will make the world and the unsaved the most agitated when you start talking about he is the only way. Muhammad did not die for your sins. Nor could he even if he was nailed to a cross like Jesus, he could not pay for the sins of mankind because he was not God Almighty in the flesh, a sinless,

  15. spotless man to die in our place. So Muhammad couldn't do it, Buddha couldn't do it. You name the religion. Y'all hear me? You preach this. See, and some people say, "Well, oh, you know, they just they won't get it." Well, let me tell you. Yeah. The the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us what you're saved, it is the power of God. We know it's the power of God. It doesn't matter if they don't grasp it all or it seems foolish to them. Trust that it's powerful and preach it. Amen. Tell them about it and trust that God will do the work in them as you preach it to them. You hear me? And you must declare not just his death on the cross for the sins of mankind that he was a sinless the sinless spotless lamb of God. But you must preach his resurrection from the dead. His bodily, physical resurrection from the dead. Because if they don't believe he rose from the dead, then they're not saved. The gospel that everything if they don't believe that, everything else is vain. This is how important it is. So, we've got to make those things clear. And you have to make it clear that for them to respond to that, they must confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord God Almighty who died for their sins and rose from the dead. And they have to understand that they've got to ask him for forgiveness. And they've got to understand there's got to be a conviction of sin there to the point they realize I know not only is he calling me to believe but to repent. We must preach repentance as part of the gospel. See this is the missing part. A lot of churches will talk about who Jesus is. A lot of them will talk about his death on the cross to atone for our sins. They'll talk about his resurrection, but they won't use that little word that seems to be outlawed in many, many churches is repent of your sin. You have to repent. You have to turn from wickedness. This is preaching the gospel. And when I was preaching to those homosexuals, I didn't let them off the hook. I said, "Homosexuality is sin."

  16. I said, "But it doesn't matter if if I am a heterosexual and I'm in adultery or I am in fornication, premarital sex." I said, "I'm in the same trouble that you're in practicing homosexuality. We're both going to hell because it is sin and God hates it. And we have to resist it, turn away from it, and make Jesus Lord. I said, I'm not coming down on you because that's your temptation. We're all tempted in the flesh to do things that God doesn't want us to do. The temptation is there. You say, "Well, I feel like I'm supposed to do I I feel pulled toward homosexuality." Well, guess what? I feel pulled toward alcohol or drugs or whatever. People could be pulled to all kinds of things. Being tempted is not the issue. We're all tempted. We're all pulled. Our flesh all wants to do wrong stuff. He said, one of the homosexual things, he said, "Well, what if uh what if I I just feel like that, but I don't act upon it?" I said, "Well, then you're resisting the temptation, which is what you're supposed to do. You resist the temptation and you submit to Jesus. Amen. And and and they they they totally receive that because they realize, hey, we're in the same boat here. You know, homosexuality is not my temptation, but I understand for some people that it is. Look, some people say, "Well, I was born that way." Let me tell you something. We were all born wrong the first time. Right? Hence the need to be born again. Right? Thank God we can be born again. You hear me? Now, let me get to to like some wisdom things you got to determine sometimes. Okay, you got the basics down. You're prepared with the basics now of what I need to say incorporate into preaching the gospel of Jesus. But then you're going to be in front of different people like Paul was in front of uh Felix, then he was in front of a Grippa. And if you notice, he used two different methods. When he was on Mars Hill, he did a completely different approach. But ultimately, and I want I want to show you this. Let's go, first of all, let's go to Mars Hill. So, let's go to Acts 17. I love this. One of my favorites. School of ministry students ought to remember all this stuff right here. I'm going through.

  17. If you don't, you get us a refresher course. Acts 17. That's why I I I had that picture made Mars. I said, I want Apostle Paul on Mars Hill like it would look in the first century. Put that picture back up because this is actually we get Paul preaching here to a group of all these people are not saved. Epicurans, stoics, philosophers, educated Greek scholars, regular people from the marketplace. Let's read this verse 16. Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him when he saw the city holy or completely given to idolatry. Therefore, he felt his spirit stirred. You know why his spirit was stirred? Because Paul was sensitive to the Holy Spirit. What the Holy Spirit was stirring him up was, "Look at this city completely given over to idolatry. You must preach the gospel to them." And that's what the Holy Spirit was stirring in his heart. He was disturbed because he saw the lost people, the blind people, the deceived people, the people with Satan strongholds in their minds. And the Lord was like, "You've got to preach to them." I don't believe Paul had had a plan to preach that day. You know, some days you don't feel like doing it, do you? I'm not saying he felt like it or not, but it seems like the Holy Spirit had to stir him up that day and say, "Look at this place. What are you doing? Why are you waiting on Timothy and the rest of them to get here? It's time to preach, son. What do you think I called you to do? Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." So Paul's like, "All right, here we go. Let's do it." So it says, "Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him when he saw the city holy or completely given to idolatry. Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews." So he went to the Jews first. He always did that if he could. So he disputed. Somebody say disputed. Preaching the gospel sometimes sounds like an argument. Wait till we're going to go back to real soon. We're going back to Alman University. Y'all going to see me dispute with some folks. I remember when I went and back in when we first started the church one time, we we went out there and I was preaching to Christians. I was I wasn't even saying you and I said, "You you lukewarm Christians." And I happened to go through my list of sin as I'm preaching. I mentioned homosexuality. Well, somebody spread it around and the professor came out and a bunch of students and they started arguing with me. We were disputing. What was wild was as we're sitting there and they're start trying to tell me everybody goes to heaven. Basically give me a universalist idea. I said, "So even

  18. Hitler went to heaven, right? According to y'all." They were like, "Yeah, yeah, yeah." I said, "Well, let me ask you this. What about the the man down the road that's molesting little children?" And and one of them spoke up and said, "Oh, no. Uhuh. That man's going to hell." I said, "Oh, so y'all do believe in hell. Y'all do believe in judgment. You just have your own Mhm. You have your own standard. You got your standard, but God has his standard and the whole situation changed. The whole disputing changed." And this is what I'm talking about understanding your audience because most homosexuals, not all, but most were molested when they were children. And that's what led them into the perversion, the demons they acquired and all the messed up stuff. It led them into that. And so a lot of them I knew I knew saying that was going to get to the root of the problem. Woo. But you know what? They listened. Then I was able to preach the gospel about we will all stand before the judgment seat of Almighty God and give an account and that we must turn from our sins. And I was then able to penetrate their hearts with the gospel. I let the light shine to them. Right? Just like that day in front of the state house. I didn't let them off the hook. I didn't make it easy. But I just explained, we're all in the same boat. Sin was taking us to hell. Sin was dragging us to destruction. It was ruining our lives. It was keeping us separated from knowing God and walking with God. We should hate it like we'd hate a rattlesnake. Y'all understand? How would y'all act if you got in your car one day and you shut the door and you looked over in the passenger seat and there was a big old rattlesnake sitting there. Let me tell you, my wife would levitate out of the car [laughter] with with with jet engines. I've seen her move fully nine months pregnant like from a from a grasshopper. You imagine if it was a snake My wife sat down nine months pregnant with Faith, sat down in the passenger seat of the car, there's a grasshopper on the windsh she was out of that car faster than you could. I'm like, how does a pregnant woman move that fast? But this if if you got in, you know, that's kind of one of my nightmare situations is to get in my truck one day and in the floorboard by my feet is a

  19. big old rattlesnake. That that's just I don't know why. I think I saw it in the movie when I was a kid and it's just like, oh god, I don't ever want that to happen. Of course, one bite from a rattlesnake can kill you or you can lose a limb. Like I mean, it's bad. They're dangerous, right? That's how you should you should act with sin. This is how it should be. You should understand how dangerous it is. Why you shouldn't play with it. People who play with rattlesnakes are idiots. You understand? Idiots. There's a lot of them online, too. Run chasing down snakes. I'm like, you got a death wish? What's wrong with you? You saw the one of those churches that play with snakes cuz they don't understand the Bible and they playing with real snakes and this guys, you know, play rattlesnake bites him on the face. Oh, guess what? You're going to die unless God does a miracle, right? This is why I say don't. And he died. This guy died. Well, you don't play with this. You don't play if you This is why you have to look at sin, fornication, adultery, drunkenness, the things the Bible lists out. And that's another thing we've got to just let them know if you don't preach about sin and get specific about the sin you're trying to deal with. Like I got very specific with the homosexuals about the sin of homosexuality. I didn't beat around the bush. I didn't ignore the elephant in the room. All right? But I confronted it in the way it should be confronted that it's not it's not even an issue of homosexuality. Yes, God hates it's abomination, but God hates fornication and adultery and pornography and pedophilia. He hates these things. And we have to when we're preaching, we have to instill into people how serious God is about these things. We basically what we're doing is trying to instill into them God's standards because every person has their own because they've believed the lies, the strongholds of the devil in their mind. And I'm going to show you le let's go. Well, let's keep reading. I'm not through with this. So after this we're going to go to uh 2 Corinthians 10. But he says here he disputed in the synagogue with the Jews and with the devout persons and in the market daily with them that met with him. So he was he we don't know how long this went on. He was waiting for Timothy and his guys to come. But it says he he disputed with first the Jews, then with other devout persons, and then in the market daily. So this could have went on for weeks.

  20. What was Paul doing? He was preaching to anybody and everybody he could find. And it says then certain philosophers of the Epicurans and of the Stoics encountered him. And some said, "What will this babbler say?" Others some he seemth to be a setter forth of strange gods because he preached unto them Jesus and the resurrection. Let's stop right there. He preached Jesus and the resurrection. Meaning he explained who Jesus was. And Paul was always explaining from the Old Testament prophecies about who Jesus was and what he did for us and that he died on that cross and rose from the dead. So we got a little snippet of what he had been preaching for days or weeks to the Athenians. And then he says this, "And they took him and brought him to Aer Aeropicus or whatever that is, but basically it's Mars Hill saying, "May we know of this new doctrine whereof thou speakest is you know we want okay we want you to come tell us for thou bringest certain strange things to our ears. We would know therefore what these things mean. For all the Athenians and the strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else but either to tell or to hear some new thing. This is now the truther movement. It says then Paul stood in the midst of Mars Hill and said ye men of Athens I perceive that in all things you are too superstitious. Now remember he stirred to preach them because he saw them completely given to idolatry. So he knew his audience believed in all these different gods and ideas and ideologies, 1:00:031 hour, 3 secondsright? So he's going to attack that stronghold in their minds. And he says, "Y'all are too superstitious." Meaning they were too religious, right? 1:00:151 hour, 15 secondsHe said, "Y'all are too religious in all these all these weird things." He said, "I perceive that you are in these all 1:00:221 hour, 22 secondsthings too superstitious. For I passed by and beheld your devotions. 1:00:271 hour, 27 secondsI found an altar with an inscription to the unknown God. 1:00:321 hour, 32 secondsSo what is Paul doing? Paul is and they actually found this thing there. 1:00:381 hour, 38 secondsArchaeologists have found this thing. It says their thing to the unknown god. 1:00:431 hour, 43 secondsBut Paul is taking something in their society, in their lives, in their belief system. 1:00:521 hour, 52 secondsHe's taking something and he's going to play off of that and he's going to use that to bring conviction to them and to 1:01:001 hour, 1 minuteexplain to them the fallacy or the illogical reasons why they they it's it's just stupid in their their belief system is stupid. So he is starting to 1:01:091 hour, 1 minute, 9 secondshe will start to tear down their stronghold of their superstitious religious ideas and idolatry. Look at this. He goes, so 1:01:171 hour, 1 minute, 17 secondsthe next thing he says, all right, he says, I passed by, verse 23, and beheld your devotions. I found 1:01:251 hour, 1 minute, 25 secondsan altar with this inscription to the unknown god, whom therefore you ignorantly worship him declare I unto 1:01:331 hour, 1 minute, 33 secondsyou. Basically, you don't know who he is, but I do, right? I love saying this to people. 1:01:401 hour, 1 minute, 40 secondsI'll be out there waiting and say, I know Jesus. I know y'all don't know it, but I know it. See, they can't argue with that because I said, I walk with 1:01:481 hour, 1 minute, 48 secondshim. I talk with him. He talks to me. I know him. Not like I know about George Washington as a historical figure. I know Jesus. He's come into my life. I 1:01:571 hour, 1 minute, 57 secondsfelt his presence, his power. I share my testimony. You see, I know him. You don't remember what what did Jesus did this 1:02:051 hour, 2 minutes, 5 secondsvery same thing to the woman at the well. He said, "The Samaritans worship. They don't know what they're worshiping. 1:02:111 hour, 2 minutes, 11 secondsSalvation is of the Jews." I mean, he just told her, "We're right. You're wrong." Oh, people don't hate that. 1:02:161 hour, 2 minutes, 16 secondsDon't ever say, you know, people are like this world, right? Nobody's right. Nobody's wrong. Truth is relative to everybody, right? 1:02:241 hour, 2 minutes, 24 secondsThat's how the world is. But no, you can say it. No, I know God. I know the one true God. 1:02:321 hour, 2 minutes, 32 secondsI know him. He's changed my life. I have encountered him. I walk with him and talk with him and he talks to me. I've 1:02:391 hour, 2 minutes, 39 secondsseen his miracles and his power. I know him. You don't, but you can. 1:02:471 hour, 2 minutes, 47 secondsAnd this is what Paul was doing. 1:02:501 hour, 2 minutes, 50 secondsHe said, "God, I'm introducing to you God that made the world and all things there." And so then he goes to creation. 1:02:581 hour, 2 minutes, 58 secondsGod that made the world and all things there, seeing he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands. 1:03:071 hour, 3 minutes, 7 secondsMeaning he's outside of all this. Don't y'all understand? He's bigger than this. 1:03:091 hour, 3 minutes, 9 secondsHe's not in your all your little temples and your little idols. 1:03:131 hour, 3 minutes, 13 secondsHe says, "Neither has he worshiped with men's hands as though he needed anything." Like he needed man, a man to fashion an idol so we could worship an 1:03:231 hour, 3 minutes, 23 secondsidol. He's like, "God, you don't understand this God, he doesn't need any of that. He'll need a man to make an 1:03:291 hour, 3 minutes, 29 secondsidol or image of him." And he says, "Neither is he worshiped with men's hands as though he needed 1:03:361 hour, 3 minutes, 36 secondsanything, seeing that he giveth to all life and breath and all things. And he hath made of one blood all nations of men to dwell on the face of the earth. 1:03:461 hour, 3 minutes, 46 secondsHe's pre preaching flat earth here. And hath determined the times appointed and the bounds or limits of our habitation, 1:03:531 hour, 3 minutes, 53 secondswhich is the firmament and the ends of the earth. And he says that they should seek 1:04:011 hour, 4 minutes, 1 secondthe Lord if happily they might feel after him and find him though he be not far from every one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being as 1:04:111 hour, 4 minutes, 11 secondscertain also of your own poets. So he brings up their poets, their scholars. And he quotes him 1:04:191 hour, 4 minutes, 19 secondsand he says, "Even your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring. For as much then as we are the offspring of 1:04:261 hour, 4 minutes, 26 secondsGod, we ought not to think that the God is like unto gold or silver or stone graven by the art of man's device." 1:04:341 hour, 4 minutes, 34 secondsAnd the times of this ignorance, God winked at, but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent. 1:04:411 hour, 4 minutes, 41 secondsSo he preaches to them, okay, God's let you get away with this ignorance for a while now. He's had mercy, 1:04:501 hour, 4 minutes, 50 secondsbut now he's commanding you to repent because he hath appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness 1:04:571 hour, 4 minutes, 57 secondsby that man whom he hath ordained, whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. And when they heard of the 1:05:051 hour, 5 minutes, 5 secondsresurrection of the dead, some mocked, and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter. So Paul departed from among them. How be it certain men 1:05:131 hour, 5 minutes, 13 secondscleaved unto him and believed and among them were Diosinus or whatever the the Arab Aeropagite and a woman named 1:05:221 hour, 5 minutes, 22 secondsDearius and others with them. So Paul preached the gospel. 1:05:281 hour, 5 minutes, 28 secondsHe preached Jesus. He preached the resurrection. He confronted and showed them the foolishness 1:05:351 hour, 5 minutes, 35 secondsof their sin of idolatry. And yeah, some mocked and went away and didn't believe, 1:05:431 hour, 5 minutes, 43 secondsbut some did. Why? Because Paul let his light shine. 1:05:511 hour, 5 minutes, 51 secondsSee, a lot of times God is stirring us to speak to people and we let fear shut us down. 1:06:021 hour, 6 minutes, 2 secondsIt's that simple. We put the light under the bushel. 1:06:081 hour, 6 minutes, 8 secondsAnd we you you have to understand that when you do that, it's not just affecting you. 1:06:161 hour, 6 minutes, 16 secondsThink about if Paul had not preached to them and and disputed 1:06:261 hour, 6 minutes, 26 secondsand confronted for all those weeks. 1:06:321 hour, 6 minutes, 32 secondsSee, he didn't start out up on Mars Hill with the crowd. He started out with anybody he could find. 1:06:421 hour, 6 minutes, 42 secondsBut let me tell you something. Some people got saved there. 1:06:471 hour, 6 minutes, 47 secondsAnd probably one of the most I mean Athens was a headquarters of science, 1:06:541 hour, 6 minutes, 54 secondsright? Philosophy, education, and sometimes hard to get people. The 1:07:031 hour, 7 minutes, 3 secondsmore educated they are in the world's system, the harder they are sometimes to reach. Right. 1:07:111 hour, 7 minutes, 11 secondsBut you preach. 1:07:141 hour, 7 minutes, 14 secondsGo with me to Oh, yeah. I think it's Acts. Well, I said where we're going to go. That's right. Go go go to um go to that 2 Corinthians 10 3-5. I want to read this. 1:07:281 hour, 7 minutes, 28 secondsThen we'll go to Acts. It's not even 12, y'all. Y'all okay. 1:07:361 hour, 7 minutes, 36 secondsI didn't get up here till after 12. So, I mean after 11. So, we're not even an hour in. 1:07:471 hour, 7 minutes, 47 secondsPaul writing to the Corinthians says, "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. 1:07:541 hour, 7 minutes, 54 secondsFor the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, 1:08:001 hour, 8 minutescasting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into 1:08:081 hour, 8 minutes, 8 secondscaptivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. So when he's talking about these imaginations, 1:08:171 hour, 8 minutes, 17 secondsthese high things, basically these are ideas, ideologies, belief systems 1:08:251 hour, 8 minutes, 25 secondsthat people have that the devil has helped people build up in their minds. 1:08:311 hour, 8 minutes, 31 secondsAnd I just want to get this across to you. When you preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and you preach truth to them and 1:08:381 hour, 8 minutes, 38 secondsyou get to the nitty-gritty of where they are living, what you're doing 1:08:461 hour, 8 minutes, 46 secondsis you're systematically tearing down the strongholds in their mind. 1:08:521 hour, 8 minutes, 52 secondsIt's not just yes, we need to bind demons and rebuke them and all that. 1:08:561 hour, 8 minutes, 56 secondsResist the devil. That's part of the process. But we have got to speak the things that will tear down whatever specific stronghold is in their mind. 1:09:071 hour, 9 minutes, 7 secondsCharles Finny was one of the greatest evangelists ever in the history of America, really in the world back in the 1800s. And he said, "You have to find 1:09:171 hour, 9 minutes, 17 secondsevery little place that a sinner's hiding behind and rip it away from them. 1:09:251 hour, 9 minutes, 25 secondsevery little idea, every little thought, every little protest that they have against God or against following God, 1:09:321 hour, 9 minutes, 32 secondssurrendering to Jesus, your job as the preacher is to tear it down, snatch it away. They run and hide behind a a pile of straw, you blow the the straw away. 1:09:441 hour, 9 minutes, 44 secondsThey run and hide behind a brick wall, you knock it down. You're the big bad wolf blowing the wind, right? 1:09:521 hour, 9 minutes, 52 secondsYou're to knock down every little place they try to hide. 1:09:561 hour, 9 minutes, 56 secondsSee, and that's why, you know, I I've understood this since I was a young man. This is the way I preach. 1:10:021 hour, 10 minutes, 2 secondsThis is why people in our church, they either get right with the Lord or they leave. 1:10:081 hour, 10 minutes, 8 secondsAnd I'm okay with that because I know I'm doing my job. They're either going to surrender to Jesus because I'm going 1:10:151 hour, 10 minutes, 15 secondsto I'm going to meddle with every little hiding place that you might have and I'm going to step on all 10 of your toes or 1:10:241 hour, 10 minutes, 24 secondsnine of your fingers like Patrick. I'm going to do whatever I got to do 1:10:351 hour, 10 minutes, 35 secondsand you're going to be if you're not right, if you're hiding behind something and and see preaching the gospel, get get this. We even have to preach this to 1:10:431 hour, 10 minutes, 43 secondslukewarm or backsliding Christians because they basically do the same thing that lost people do. They run. They got some sin. They're hiding. They run and hide behind something. 1:10:531 hour, 10 minutes, 53 secondsAnd it's the preacher's job to rip out of the way whatever they're hiding behind. 1:11:011 hour, 11 minutes, 1 secondNow, that makes them uncomfortable sometimes, but it's the only way you're going to get them to be convicted enough. What 1:11:101 hour, 11 minutes, 10 secondsdoes convicted mean? Convinced that they are wrong or that they are in sin or that they need to change 1:11:191 hour, 11 minutes, 19 secondssomething. You see, it's it's kind of the old saying like if if if you went to a doctor and the doctor told 1:11:271 hour, 11 minutes, 27 secondsyou you have cancer, you've had that situation, right? Now, if you're not convinced that the doctor's telling you 1:11:341 hour, 11 minutes, 34 secondsthe truth, are you going to do anything they say? No. 1:11:381 hour, 11 minutes, 38 secondsIf you're not convinced you have the disease, you will not seek the cure. 1:11:441 hour, 11 minutes, 44 secondsYou understand? That's why sometimes what we say, I I'm going to get a second opinion, right? Because we don't want to believe it. 1:11:541 hour, 11 minutes, 54 secondsThis is what happens to people. They don't want to be convinced that they have the disease of sin, rebellion, whatever it may be. 1:12:041 hour, 12 minutes, 4 secondsAnd so when they are convicted means they are convinced. 1:12:121 hour, 12 minutes, 12 secondsNow sometimes they respond negative to that feeling. Sometimes they humble themselves. 1:12:181 hour, 12 minutes, 18 secondsSometimes they cry. Sometimes they you know whatever. But they have to be convinced. 1:12:271 hour, 12 minutes, 27 secondsAnd the Holy Spirit, this is this is something you can you can be encouraged about. The Holy Spirit always has gone 1:12:351 hour, 12 minutes, 35 secondsbefore you to convince, to convict, to Jesus said, "If I be lifted up," what was he talking 1:12:431 hour, 12 minutes, 43 secondsabout? "When I am lifted up on the cross, I will draw all men." Put that scripture up for us. That's uh John 12. 1:12:541 hour, 12 minutes, 54 secondsWhen if I be lifted up, I will draw all men. So Jesus is drawing all meaning 1:13:021 hour, 13 minutes, 2 secondshe's convicting. He's trying to convince them and they are resisting. 1:13:111 hour, 13 minutes, 11 secondsY'all find it. I can't remember what verse it 32. 1:13:221 hour, 13 minutes, 22 secondsIf I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me. And this right here, actually, this destroys the false [snorts] teaching system of 1:13:301 hour, 13 minutes, 30 secondsCalvinism because man now is without excuse cuz they teach total depravity and that 1:13:371 hour, 13 minutes, 37 secondstherefore that no one can come to Jesus unless he is drawing him. And they say basically they teach that some are being 1:13:441 hour, 13 minutes, 44 secondsdrawn and others are not. And that if you're being drawn, you can't resist. So their whole system is a bunch of junk. 1:13:501 hour, 13 minutes, 50 secondsOkay? Because Jesus said he would draw once he died on the cross for our sins, he would draw all men. That doesn't mean 1:13:571 hour, 13 minutes, 57 secondsall men will be saved because men can resist the Holy Spirit. 1:14:041 hour, 14 minutes, 4 secondsYou can preach the gospel to them. They can be in tears. They can be convicted. 1:14:101 hour, 14 minutes, 10 secondsThey can still make a free will choice to resist. Why did why did you think 1:14:161 hour, 14 minutes, 16 secondsthis is why Stephen in his anointed message when they were before they stoned him to the Pharisees he said you 1:14:241 hour, 14 minutes, 24 secondsdo always resist the Holy Spirit as your fathers did so do you when he said that to him that's when 1:14:331 hour, 14 minutes, 33 secondsthey said that okay you're dead man because he got to the to the issue of 1:14:411 hour, 14 minutes, 41 secondstheir sin resisting the Holy spirit. 1:14:481 hour, 14 minutes, 48 secondsCalvinism says you can't resist the Holy Spirit. 1:14:521 hour, 14 minutes, 52 secondsThat's one of their main points. I'm like, Bible says you can. Calvinism says you you can't. Who's right? The Bible. 1:15:001 hour, 15 minutesGod, Calvinism, the whole system is from the devil. Somebody need to hear that. 1:15:041 hour, 15 minutes, 4 secondsIt is demonic deception. It is one of the greatest errors, a system of errors ever brought into the church world. 1:15:141 hour, 15 minutes, 14 secondsYeah, it is definitely a doctrine of demons. And that's again, this is understanding what you're preaching, 1:15:231 hour, 15 minutes, 23 secondsthe gospel of Jesus Christ. You're you're going to preach this and you're going to get down to the nitty-gritty 1:15:301 hour, 15 minutes, 30 secondsof where people are. Now, look, let's go to uh back to Acts real quick here. 1:15:371 hour, 15 minutes, 37 secondsActs, let's see. I think it's 24. We're going to Yes. 24. Acts 24:4 where we'll start. 1:15:531 hour, 15 minutes, 53 secondsThis is one of my favorite stories here. 1:16:011 hour, 16 minutes, 1 secondYou go down to verse 24 and it says, "And after certain days when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him 1:16:101 hour, 16 minutes, 10 secondsconcerning the faith in Christ. And as he Paul reasoned of righteousness, 1:16:171 hour, 16 minutes, 17 secondstemperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled." 1:16:261 hour, 16 minutes, 26 secondsThink about that. Paul, it says he reasoned with him. Meaning Paul preached what he knew. 1:16:371 hour, 16 minutes, 37 secondsThe mind, the the the conscious, the spirit of man understands instinctively because God's written his law in the heart of every person. And so Paul 1:16:461 hour, 16 minutes, 46 secondsalready knows God's written his law already in every person. No matter how much they resist it, God's written they how we know right and 1:16:541 hour, 16 minutes, 54 secondswrong, right? 1:16:561 hour, 16 minutes, 56 secondsAnd he knew, Paul already knew what Jesus said about what? 1:17:021 hour, 17 minutes, 2 secondsDrawing all men. So Paul goes into reasoning of righteousness. So what was he? I wish we had this sermon spelled 1:17:101 hour, 17 minutes, 10 secondsout, but I can tell you if you're going to reason of righteousness. 1:17:141 hour, 17 minutes, 14 secondsThere is no righteousness outside of faith in Jesus Christ, his shed blood on the cross, his atoning shed blood, and 1:17:221 hour, 17 minutes, 22 secondshis resurrection. and that we have to be in him, washed in his blood, born again to be made righteous. 1:17:321 hour, 17 minutes, 32 secondsRight? So obviously he had to reason of what makes man righteous, good deeds, nope, 1:17:391 hour, 17 minutes, 39 secondsonly through faith in the blood of Jesus. So he reasoned of righteousness 1:17:461 hour, 17 minutes, 46 secondsand then it says of temperance which is why we should if we are born 1:17:531 hour, 17 minutes, 53 secondsagain if we understand what sin does the wages of sin is death if we understand that then we understand 1:18:021 hour, 18 minutes, 2 secondswhy we should have a life of temperance self-control that's what temperance is self-control 1:18:081 hour, 18 minutes, 8 secondsso he reasons with him like I'm sure like we could do alcohol Paul, look what it does to you. Drugs, look what it does 1:18:161 hour, 18 minutes, 16 secondsto you. Sexual promiscuity, look what it does to you. The Romans knew. They practiced all of this stuff. 1:18:231 hour, 18 minutes, 23 secondsHas it made your life any better? It's destructive. It's destructive to society. 1:18:321 hour, 18 minutes, 32 secondsCheating on your wife, cheating on your husband, destroys families, destroys children. 1:18:371 hour, 18 minutes, 37 secondsLook at what pedophilia does. Look at Look, I mean, we could just go down the list. So Paul reasoned of righteousness, which it can only be through Jesus. 1:18:491 hour, 18 minutes, 49 secondsHe reasoned of temperance, which is repentance and living differently than you live in sin. 1:18:561 hour, 18 minutes, 56 secondsAnd then for the final cherry on top, the fear of the Lord, 1:19:031 hour, 19 minutes, 3 secondsyou will stand before Jesus, God Almighty, the creator, the one true God, and give an account 1:19:111 hour, 19 minutes, 11 secondsfor your life. And on that day of judgment, you will either hear him say, "Enter in." 1:19:211 hour, 19 minutes, 21 secondsOr you will hear, "Depart from me, you cursed into everlasting fire. 1:19:251 hour, 19 minutes, 25 secondsSo when you preach the judgment of God, that's what you're talking about. 1:19:301 hour, 19 minutes, 30 secondsThat your decisions now to enter into Jesus Christ so you can be righteous, to repent and live a self-controlled 1:19:391 hour, 19 minutes, 39 secondslife as he has taught us, repentance, holy living, 1:19:481 hour, 19 minutes, 48 secondsbecause you're going to stand before God to give an account for what you have done. Every idle word you've spoken, you're going to give an account. 1:20:011 hour, 20 minutes, 1 secondThere's going to be no escaping there. 1:20:041 hour, 20 minutes, 4 secondsThere will be nothing to hide behind at the judgment seat. 1:20:101 hour, 20 minutes, 10 secondsEverything will be laid bare. Every thought, every motive, every act. 1:20:181 hour, 20 minutes, 18 secondsSo when we when you can you imagine this sermon from the Apostle Paul was so 1:20:241 hour, 20 minutes, 24 secondspowerful was so presented so perfectly to Felix 1:20:321 hour, 20 minutes, 32 secondsthat it caused a hardened Roman ruler to tremble. 1:20:421 hour, 20 minutes, 42 secondsThe fear of God came upon him. 1:20:471 hour, 20 minutes, 47 secondsNow, guess what? Think about this, though. Felix did not repent. Did not give his life to Jesus because he has a free will. He resisted. 1:20:591 hour, 20 minutes, 59 secondsWell, let me tell you something. 1:21:021 hour, 21 minutes, 2 secondsHe never, I guarantee you, maybe Felix got saved later on before he died. We don't know. But we know this. He never forgot that day. 1:21:131 hour, 21 minutes, 13 secondsAnd when you preach the gospel, it's not always about getting people to pray the sinner's prayer or you know that you know they're saved. I'd rather preach 1:21:211 hour, 21 minutes, 21 secondstill somebody trembles and cries even if they walk away because I know then 1:21:291 hour, 21 minutes, 29 secondsthat I have stuck the sword of the spirit into their chest and I've left it there for them to deal with. 1:21:401 hour, 21 minutes, 40 secondsYou hear me? 1:21:421 hour, 21 minutes, 42 secondsThat's preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. When they tremble, when they cry, when they're convinced of 1:21:501 hour, 21 minutes, 50 secondswho they are and what they need, you haven't preached the gospel until you've done that. 1:21:591 hour, 21 minutes, 59 secondsI mean, you may have sewed a little seed or tried to give them a little nudge sometimes because maybe you you only got two minutes or something and you just 1:22:071 hour, 22 minutes, 7 secondssay something. But that's still I'm not saying that's bad to do. I'm just telling you preaching the gospel is much more 1:22:151 hour, 22 minutes, 15 secondsinvolved then Jesus loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. Oh, he's got a wonderful plan that's also going to 1:22:241 hour, 22 minutes, 24 secondsinclude persecution, suffering, rejection, hatred, a Judas in your life time or two. You 1:22:311 hour, 22 minutes, 31 secondsknow, you know that little four spiritual laws I used to pass out on college campuses back in the day in the 70s and 80s and 1:22:391 hour, 22 minutes, 39 seconds90s. Some of you remember that. Some of you are too young. Four spiritual laws. Two of them. I remember the first two. 1:22:471 hour, 22 minutes, 47 secondsJesus loves you, has a wonderful plan for your life. That's kind of what everybody focused on. 1:22:531 hour, 22 minutes, 53 secondsYeah. Sin separates you from God. And yeah, I mean, it was a good basic, I think, I guess. But bottom line though, 1:23:011 hour, 23 minutes, 1 secondit's got to get to a point where people are convicted. Now, with a grippa, and I'm not going to take time to read all that. You can go read that in uh what is 1:23:091 hour, 23 minutes, 9 secondsthat? That's Acts 26. When Paul preached to Agrippa, Paul already knew that Agrippa believed the Old Testament 1:23:191 hour, 23 minutes, 19 secondsprophecies about the Messiah and that he knew about what happened that and so because he 1:23:271 hour, 23 minutes, 27 secondsknew his audience, that's how he approached it. He said, "I know you believe and you know these things weren't done 1:23:351 hour, 23 minutes, 35 secondsin a corner. You know what happened." And then Paul goes on to tell him his 1:23:411 hour, 23 minutes, 41 secondspersonal testimony, how Jesus appeared to him when he was 1:23:481 hour, 23 minutes, 48 secondskilling Christians and putting them in prison. So see what Paul did. He used different You see how he did with Mars 1:23:561 hour, 23 minutes, 56 secondsHill. You see how he did with um Felix and then you see you go see how he did with Agria. 1:24:051 hour, 24 minutes, 5 secondsvery different approaches but ending up the same way. And what did agria say? 1:24:101 hour, 24 minutes, 10 secondsYou Paul, you almost persuade me to be a Christian. I remember years ago, I didn't know it. 1:24:171 hour, 24 minutes, 17 secondsI was I went out witnessing with two of my friends in in Montgomery and we went to where basically all the high school 1:24:251 hour, 24 minutes, 25 secondskids used to hang out in Kmart parking lot back in the day. This is back in the 90s. Is now Publix in Montgomery's right 1:24:321 hour, 24 minutes, 32 secondsthere on Atlanta Highway. And we went out there as a bunch of young people, college age, high school age, hanging out, drinking, smoking marijuana, 1:24:401 hour, 24 minutes, 40 secondswhatever. They a lot of them doing different stuff. But I start witnessing to this young guy and we start going back and forth. We start disputing 1:24:481 hour, 24 minutes, 48 secondsand he was arguing and arguing and I just pursu, you know, I figured out where this guy was and I just said, "Look, I said, "Let me just tell you 1:24:571 hour, 24 minutes, 57 secondsthis." I said, "I was like you." and he was Auburn student and partyer, you 1:25:041 hour, 25 minutes, 4 secondsknow. And I said, I was like you. I love to drink and do drugs and get into sexual immorality. And I said, I was 1:25:131 hour, 25 minutes, 13 secondspretty much addicted to alcohol. I mean, I drank nearly every day. 1:25:171 hour, 25 minutes, 17 secondsI said, I loved partying and I loved sin. I loved my sin. I loved it. 1:25:241 hour, 25 minutes, 24 secondsOkay? And I was completely blinded by the devil. 1:25:291 hour, 25 minutes, 29 secondsAnd I said I was destroying myself. I was killing myself. So se several times in the hospital. Alcohol poisoning. My throat I remember throat closed up. I 1:25:381 hour, 25 minutes, 38 secondsdrank 21 days straight. Alcohol poisoning. Nearly died when I was 18, 17, 18 years old. Um I was a maniac. 1:25:491 hour, 25 minutes, 49 secondsLoved it. 1:25:511 hour, 25 minutes, 51 secondsAnd I said, "But Jesus manifested himself to me. 1:25:581 hour, 25 minutes, 58 secondsHe spoke to me." I said, "I had modeling career. I was about to be in the movies. 1:26:011 hour, 26 minutes, 1 secondI was about to be rich and famous. About to have everything the world can offer." And I said, "The Lord came to me. He manifested himself to I mean, I felt 1:26:091 hour, 26 minutes, 9 secondshim." And he said, "Son, you can have everything the world has to offer and go to hell or surrender your life to me and live forever." 1:26:161 hour, 26 minutes, 16 secondsAnd I said, "I surrendered my life to him. I asked for his forgiveness." And he set me free from drugs and alcohol 1:26:231 hour, 26 minutes, 23 secondsand sexual immor. Changed my life. put me on a path that was far better than the one I was on. 1:26:321 hour, 26 minutes, 32 secondsAnd I said, "And since then, I've spent time reading the scriptures and talking to him and I've got to know him and I've 1:26:401 hour, 26 minutes, 40 secondsseen people healed and delivered from demons." And I start so I'm giving him my testimony. 1:26:471 hour, 26 minutes, 47 secondsCome to find out, he he looks at me and he goes, "You know, I didn't tell you this." We started talking, but I'm the president of the Auburn University 1:26:551 hour, 26 minutes, 55 secondsdebate team. Said, "My specialty is atheism and debating Christians." 1:27:021 hour, 27 minutes, 2 secondsHe said, "You're the only one that's ever almost persuaded me to be a Christian." Because he said, "I cannot 1:27:111 hour, 27 minutes, 11 secondsrefute what you say God has done in your life. 1:27:161 hour, 27 minutes, 16 secondsThere is no he can say I don't believe it. He can say I think you're lying, exaggerating and what whatever. He can he can make an 1:27:241 hour, 27 minutes, 24 secondsaccusation but he can't tell me. And I said and I said you're too late. I said all your arguments for atheism and all your argument. I said you're too late. 1:27:331 hour, 27 minutes, 33 secondsYou're like somebody that showed up like like when I finished eating the best ribeye steak in the world and you're 1:27:401 hour, 27 minutes, 40 secondsgoing to tell me why ribeye steaks don't exist. You're too late. 1:27:471 hour, 27 minutes, 47 secondsI have tasted and seen that the Lord is real and he is good. Amen. I said, "You're way too late for that." Right? 1:27:561 hour, 27 minutes, 56 secondsAnd he was like, "Yeah, I get it. I see your point." I said, "I know him like I know my brother 1:28:051 hour, 28 minutes, 5 secondsor my sister or I know him personally in a real way." And this is what Paul did with Agrippa. Paul gave him the 1:28:121 hour, 28 minutes, 12 secondsscriptures. He said, "I know what you believe and you know how I met him on the road 1:28:211 hour, 28 minutes, 21 secondsto Damascus and how he changed me from being a Christian hater and murderer to 1:28:281 hour, 28 minutes, 28 secondsbeing the number one Christian preacher in the world at that time." Right? 1:28:341 hour, 28 minutes, 34 secondsThat could not be denied. A Grippa was like, "You almost persuade me because I know who you were, Paul. I know what you did and now you don't do that anymore. 1:28:421 hour, 28 minutes, 42 secondsYou're completely changed. You're completely opposite. It had to be something real. 1:28:481 hour, 28 minutes, 48 secondsSo, you know, you can say sometimes, well, Pastor Dean, I don't know the word like you, so I can't preach it like you or whatever. Ah, stop that. 1:28:581 hour, 28 minutes, 58 secondsIf all you tell people is how you met Jesus and how real it was and how he changed your life and how you felt his 1:29:051 hour, 29 minutes, 5 secondspresence and heard his voice and you were born again, that is enough. Preach the gospel to them. Share your testimony 1:29:141 hour, 29 minutes, 14 secondsof how the gospel changed you and you will see lives changed. 1:29:221 hour, 29 minutes, 22 secondsBut you have to go. You hear me? 1:29:271 hour, 29 minutes, 27 secondsIt's it something you it has to be intentional. 1:29:321 hour, 29 minutes, 32 secondsAnd when the Holy Spirit stirs you, don't quench it. Speak in the grocery store, in the auto parts store, wherever you might be, speak. 1:29:441 hour, 29 minutes, 44 secondsDon't hold back. 1:29:461 hour, 29 minutes, 46 secondsSometimes you will know it will be so strong that you're supposed to say something to a certain person. 1:29:531 hour, 29 minutes, 53 secondsAnd get the conversation started. You never know where it's going to go. Prepare yourself. 1:30:041 hour, 30 minutes, 4 secondsLet it be intentional. Get ready to give an answer. 1:30:091 hour, 30 minutes, 9 secondsThink about, sit down and think about, okay, I walk out of the state house in Montgomery and there's a whole bunch of homosexuals. What would I say to them? 1:30:201 hour, 30 minutes, 20 secondsWhat would I say to a suicidal person? 1:30:251 hour, 30 minutes, 25 secondsWhat would I say to somebody I know is a Muslim or a Jehovah Witness or a Mormon? 1:30:331 hour, 30 minutes, 33 secondsSo, you have to prepare yourself. You have to know a little bit. 1:30:411 hour, 30 minutes, 41 secondsStart talking to the Muslim about Muhammad marrying a six-year-old and then consummating the marriage when she was nine. 1:30:521 hour, 30 minutes, 52 secondsstart talking about how Islam endorses child marriages to adults. 1:31:011 hour, 31 minutes, 1 secondNow, if you can't see something wrong with that, you see what I'm saying? Oh, well, that'll make a Muslim mad. It'll make them upset. Well, they know the truth. 1:31:101 hour, 31 minutes, 10 secondsThat's the truth about their prophet. 1:31:161 hour, 31 minutes, 16 secondsThat's the truth. And they won't deny it either. They just expect you not to know that. 1:31:261 hour, 31 minutes, 26 secondsA lot of things they expect you to not know. 1:31:301 hour, 31 minutes, 30 secondsYou know the gospel. Paul warned us. Let me let us let's finish with this. Galatians chapter 1. 1:31:371 hour, 31 minutes, 37 secondsThis is this is how we know Islam is of the devil. 1:31:461 hour, 31 minutes, 46 secondsGalatians chapter 1 1:31:551 hour, 31 minutes, 55 secondshe tells them well let's let's read from verse one Paul an apostle not of men neither by man but by Jesus Christ and 1:32:041 hour, 32 minutes, 4 secondsGod the father who raised him from the dead I love just how he introduces himself is preaches the gospel to them 1:32:111 hour, 32 minutes, 11 secondsand all brethren which are with me unto the churches of Galatia. Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and from our Lord Jesus Christ who gave 1:32:191 hour, 32 minutes, 19 secondshimself for our sins that he might deliver us from this present evil world according to the will of God and our 1:32:261 hour, 32 minutes, 26 secondsfather to whom be glory forever and ever. He says, I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another 1:32:351 hour, 32 minutes, 35 secondsgospel which is not another but there be some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we or 1:32:431 hour, 32 minutes, 43 secondsan angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 1:32:501 hour, 32 minutes, 50 secondsAs we said, therefore, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than ye have received, let him be accursed. 1:32:591 hour, 32 minutes, 59 secondsNow, this is about as clear as it gets. 1:33:031 hour, 33 minutes, 3 secondsSee, the gospel that Paul preached was Jesus Christ is God. 1:33:081 hour, 33 minutes, 8 secondsJesus Christ is the only way. Jesus Christ died on the cross. He's the atoning one. 1:33:151 hour, 33 minutes, 15 secondsSo he says if we even if we if we start preaching a different gospel 1:33:211 hour, 33 minutes, 21 secondsthan what we've preached to you or if an angel shows up. 1:33:271 hour, 33 minutes, 27 secondsSee Muhammad says Gabriel appeared to him in a cave and gave him the Quran. 1:33:341 hour, 33 minutes, 34 secondsBut the Quran denies Jesus is God in the flesh. The Quran denies that Jesus died on the cross for our sin. 1:33:451 hour, 33 minutes, 45 secondsTherefore, it is another gospel. It is a different gospel. 1:33:511 hour, 33 minutes, 51 secondsThe Mormons Jeho Joseph Smith says the angel Moroni appeared to him and gave him the golden 1:33:581 hour, 33 minutes, 58 secondstablets. And even the Book of Mormon is called another testament of Jesus Christ. They've tried to give me that stupid book. 1:34:091 hour, 34 minutes, 9 secondsmean another gospel. They say it right there on another gospel of Jesus Christ. No. 1:34:151 hour, 34 minutes, 15 secondsAnd what do what do they bring you? They bring you a gospel that denies Jesus Christ is God, who he is. 1:34:231 hour, 34 minutes, 23 secondsThey deny hell. 1:34:281 hour, 34 minutes, 28 secondsThey even they even say that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers. 1:34:371 hour, 34 minutes, 37 secondsspiritual brothers. 1:34:411 hour, 34 minutes, 41 secondsWe have people like well the Jehovah Witness is the same. They denied the deity of Jesus Christ 1:34:511 hour, 34 minutes, 51 secondsand their salvation comes through works alone really. 1:34:561 hour, 34 minutes, 56 secondsAnd they deny that when people die in sin and they they deny the eternal punishment of hell. But you got people doing that now. 1:35:081 hour, 35 minutes, 8 secondsSo what I'm saying is there's a lot of people with another gospel, a different gospel, a separate gospel. 1:35:161 hour, 35 minutes, 16 secondsAnd we've got to be able to know the difference. And we've got to make sure when we preach that people know what 1:35:231 hour, 35 minutes, 23 secondswe're talking about because hey, Oprah talks about Jesus, but it's not the Jesus of the Bible. 1:35:341 hour, 35 minutes, 34 secondsYou hear me? 1:35:381 hour, 35 minutes, 38 secondsYou get down to Oh, I mean even what was his name? Uh the guy that was the pastor of uh Hill Song. Brian u what was his 1:35:461 hour, 35 minutes, 46 secondsname? Houston. Brian Houston. I remember back in like 2010, 11, whenever it was, 1:35:531 hour, 35 minutes, 53 secondsI remember seeing the video of him preaching and saying Allah was the same God of the Bible that we talking about. 1:36:031 hour, 36 minutes, 3 secondsI went, "Are you that stupid or are you part of the corruption? 1:36:141 hour, 36 minutes, 14 secondsAre you a plant?" We know his daddy was a pedophile that he covered up for for years, right? So, something's wrong there. 1:36:231 hour, 36 minutes, 23 secondsBut I will say this, Allah is not the same God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 1:36:311 hour, 36 minutes, 31 secondsAllah was the moon god. Why the crescent moon was there? They're Allah which they won't tell you. For instance, Muslims 1:36:381 hour, 36 minutes, 38 secondswon't tell you, but Allah ask them about Allah's three daughters. 1:36:461 hour, 36 minutes, 46 secondsAsk them about the satanic verses. You get what I'm saying? 1:36:511 hour, 36 minutes, 51 secondsYou should know some stuff. Prepare yourself. I'm just using Islam and Jehovah Witness, Mormons. I mean, there's plenty more to the Bahigh faith 1:36:591 hour, 36 minutes, 59 secondsand the newagers and there's all you got to prepare yourself so when you hear people say certain things when you're talking about you begin to know who your audience is. 1:37:091 hour, 37 minutes, 9 secondsIf I got a bunch of new newagers, I know exactly where to go with them. 1:37:131 hour, 37 minutes, 13 secondsIf I get a bunch of Mormons, I I ask them first about their holy underwear and they start that throws them off immediately. 1:37:221 hour, 37 minutes, 22 secondsTheir their holy priestly underwear they have to wear. 1:37:281 hour, 37 minutes, 28 secondsI love messing with Jehovah Witnesses like, "Oh, open up." I I get Jehovah Witnesses. I said, "Open up to Mark 16." And I said, "Okay, go out in all the 1:37:371 hour, 37 minutes, 37 secondsworld and preach the gospel." Y'all got to go out in the world part, right? But you don't preach the gospel. But I said, "Does this happen in your church in in 1:37:451 hour, 37 minutes, 45 secondsKingdom Hall? Do you they speak in tongues? Do people get healed?" I said, "Are demons cast out?" "No, we 1:37:531 hour, 37 minutes, 53 secondsdon't ever see that." I said, 'Well, it happens in my church. So, why would I go to yours? 1:37:591 hour, 37 minutes, 59 secondsAnd then I tell him, I said, 'You know why it doesn't happen in your church? Because you don't have the real Jesus. 1:38:031 hour, 38 minutes, 3 secondsIf you had the real Jesus, you'd have the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gift of tongues. You would have supernatural healing through the laying 1:38:111 hour, 38 minutes, 11 secondson hands. You would have casting out of demons in Jesus' name. 1:38:181 hour, 38 minutes, 18 secondsAnd I remember, you know, with the Jehovah Witnesses, they always have one like older one, more established, and then they got the little student with them. And it's always you mess with the 1:38:271 hour, 38 minutes, 27 secondslittle student one cuz they start going, "Huh?" You show them in, "Huh?" I've seen it happen. And when they see the little student getting getting 1:38:361 hour, 38 minutes, 36 secondsmessed up, then they step in, "Well, we got to go." And if you do that enough, they'll mark your house and they never come back. They used to come all the 1:38:451 hour, 38 minutes, 45 secondstime. Now they don't show up ever anymore. Oh no, don't go to that house. 1:38:521 hour, 38 minutes, 52 secondsWhy? Cuz I'm ready. Amen. Let's stand. 1:39:011 hour, 39 minutes, 1 secondI want to do that song. Simple gospel. 1:39:091 hour, 39 minutes, 9 secondsY'all sing one more song before we go. 1:39:131 hour, 39 minutes, 13 secondsListen, I want to tell you before we before we do this song, the Lord specifically, can I say 1:39:211 hour, 39 minutes, 21 secondsspecifically, told me to preach this to y'all this morning. 1:39:301 hour, 39 minutes, 30 secondsThat means he's serious about this. 1:39:361 hour, 39 minutes, 36 secondsIt is not a suggestion.
