that means that there is none other like you that you are sanctified you are set apart you are different you are beyond lord every other god or every other attempt out there that jesus you are the king of kings the lord of lords the god of gods the way the truth and the life we ask you lord god for your anointing we ask you to lead us and guide us into all truth we ask you lord god to speak to our hearts this morning to change our lives in jesus name amen and amen you may be seated praise the lord nobody like jesus amen nobody like jesus let's get that understood this morning as we look at the word for a minute as we look at the word of god there's only one god who became a man died on the cross for the sins of mankind paid the price broke the power of the devil broke the power of sin broke the power of death rose from the dead three days later and now has the keys of hell and death amen now before we get into our subject matter this morning i want you to see that let's look at revelation everybody turn to revelation chapter one just going to look at a verse here before we get into this title of my message this morning is going to be the normal christian life or normal christianity normal all right and before we get into this let me just say that what we see out particularly in america in the western world perpetrated on us as normal christianity is not normal all right normal christianity is what the bible says it is not what man and man's traditions and the doctrines of men have made it to be right [Music] you can carry around a pig under your arm all day long and say it's a kitty cat still a pig right hallelujah just because you say it something doesn't mean that it is but how about this when god says it's something it is so and it doesn't matter how many men how many women how many denominations how many churches say that it's not god's word is true and every man a liar amen isn't that what it says revelation chapter one i want you to see this this is where jesus appeared to the apostle john in the isle of patmos around 80 95 or so as he was exiled there
for the word of god now let's read this from verse 10. well verse 9. he says i john who also am your brother and companion in tribulation and in the kingdom and patience of jesus christ was in the aisle that is called patmos for the word of god and for the testimony of jesus christ so he was a prisoner there because he stood firm for jesus and because the romans had tried to kill him several times and could not i was in the spirit he said i was in the spirit as capital as holy spirit on the lord's day and heard behind me a great voice as of a trumpet saying and this is jesus speaking to him right here i am alpha and omega the first and the last and what you see right in a book and send it into the seven churches which are in asia unto ephesus and unto smyrna and unto pergamos and to thyatira and to sardis and to philadelphia and unto laodicea and i turned to see the voice that spake with me and being turned i saw seven golden candle sticks and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like the son of man clothed with a garment down to the foot and gird about the paps with a golden girdle his hair and his hairs were as white like wool as white as snow and his eyes were as a flame of fire and his feet like undefined brass as if it burned in a furnace and his voice as the sound of many waters well that's enough right there in it and he had in his right hand seven stars and out of his mouth when a sharp two-edged sword and his countenance or what his face looked like was as the sun shines in his strength and when i saw him i fell at his feet as dead and he laid his right hand on me saying fear not i am the first and the last i am he that liveth and was dead and behold i am alive forevermore amen and look at this next part and have the keys of hell and death amen see let me explain something before i get into the subject this morning that just because you may talk about demons and you may talk about satan and talk about what the devil is doing and that there is a devil that there are demons and that you need to be aware of what's going on with them some christians get it in their minds that we as christians shouldn't talk about the devil or demons because that's giving glory to the devil or giving power to the devil i can't tell you how many i've heard say that recently and i'm sitting here going you know this kind of boggles my mind because it seems like they want to point their fingers back at us christians over here who address the subject of demons and satan and that and address the power that they do have and how to overcome it through the power of jesus christ and for some reason we're giving
glory to the devil teaching people how to rebuke the devil resist the devil and defeat the devil i don't even get that it doesn't even make sense but let me just be clear before i get in this any further we believe that jesus christ is the king of kings the lord of lords that when he died on that cross as the sinless spotless lamb of god for the sins of mankind and that when he rose from the dead three days later he broke the power of satan and gave us the potential he didn't just automatically give it he gave every man woman boy and girl the potential to have their sins forgiven and freedom from the devil and power over the devil when he attacks you but just because jesus bought and paid for something doesn't mean that it automatically works in your life without you doing something with it right this is the almost ludicrous mentality within the kingdom of god oh jesus died on the cross he said it's finished so i don't have to do anything lie from satan lie from false teachers no if that was true then then you wouldn't have to confess your sins repent turn from your sins and follow jesus to be saved you'll have to do something all right it works that way with everything else in the kingdom of god faith must have works or it's dead you can't tell me i'm a christian and yet your life doesn't show that you've changed right if you have been born again and your sins have been washed away and you understand the gospel of jesus christ you understand that you must take up your cross and follow him to be a christian right it's faith right well when it comes to dealing with everything else in the kingdom of god when it comes from dealing with demons did jesus die and gain back the power that satan had through adam's sin you know when adam and eve sinned and listened to the devil and disobeyed god what happened they gave the devil power and authority over the earth not that god doesn't have it but what did god do with it in the first place god gave power and authority to adam to take dominion over the earth right and basically what satan came in and did was stole it from adam by getting adam to sin and adam and eve i should say to sin and that's what gave the devil the legal right to cause havoc in this world and you have to understand something about god
he's very much about his word he will not break it not even for himself right once god makes a promise once he makes a contract he will not break it all right and once satan got the deed the lease to the earth he became known one of his names jesus called him the god of this world called him the prince and the power of the air the world the word prince means someone who has authority all right the devil was given authority by adam and eve's sin and because that passed upon all mankind jesus had to come god almighty had to become a man not sin but then pay the penalty of sin by death and suffering on the cross to break that contract but that contract is only broken for those who are in jesus christ for those who believe in him and follow him then the blood of jesus comes in and can cancel that contract but just because you come under a new covenant because you come into relationship with jesus doesn't mean that the devil is going to leave you alone automatically and the new testament does not teach that now let's just look at one little step i looked up a few little stats this morning all right for these christians who say we shouldn't talk about satan and we shouldn't talk about demons or devils or or or unclean spirits here's a little stat for you let me let me just give you and this is not i didn't even have time to do them all in the bible old and new testament satan is mentioned 56 times old and new this is both old and new satan is mentioned 56 times devil is mentioned 61 times devils speaking of demon spirits in the term devils is mentioned 55 times serpents in reference to demons is three times serpent in reference to satan 20 times tempter two times dragon 12 times old testament he was called belzybub b-a-a-l-z-e-b-u-b [Music] four times new testament deals above a little different spelling but the same
name seven times the term unclean spirit is mentioned 11 times unclean spirits mentioned 10 times prince of this world one time prince and power of the air one time power of darkness two times evil spirits four times evil spirit ten times now just what i named to you right there the devil's mentioned or demons or satan 200 over 260 times in the bible and that's not all of them if you take other references to demons that people worship like molech where the devil hid behind a different name like molech or ashtoreth you start going down the order where god names specific demon spirits like lying spirits perverse spirits i mean we can go down the list matter of fact i could probably come up with 300 references to satan or evil spirits now if we weren't supposed to talk about the devil and what he does and how to defeat him why is he mentioned so many times in the bible doesn't make sense because if if that logic stands true then i guess jesus didn't know what he was doing paul didn't know what he was doing john didn't know what he was doing peter didn't know what he was doing [Music] you get my drift i can't believe the level of stupidity that is in many christians minds and lives i'm sorry but there's no other way to put it they will believe nonsense like that when the scripture says it completely opposite a hundred different ways as a christian guess what our primary focus must be [Music] the word of god amen the word of god is true and everything else is a lie and i don't care how many phds these are doctrines of divinities a man has behind his name somebody say amen right there right the word of god is alive and powerful the word of god let me tell you something folks the word of god that bible right there is the only truth you have in this world everything else is either a mixture of a truth and a lie or just a plain outlie it's the only
pure light we have that's right and we've got to know it amen now listen to the bible is very clear in the new testament that you have an adversary called the devil oh i forgot that name so that's another one add one more adversary right now i want you to turn with me to this verse here we're gonna look at a few verses this morning y'all didn't mind a few stats did you i want you to turn to first peter chapter five familiar passage of scripture and i'm going to make this statement as you turn there and look for that listen to me folks christian or no christian christian or not you are going to be attacked by the devil and demon spirits in different ways whether you recognize it or not you hear me that's what he does okay we're going i'm going to show you this now this is as plain as it gets this is very basic this morning but i want to get it in your head i mean how many of you let me ask this question even some even you young people in here how many of you can say there's been a time in during like say at night when i'm in my bed or i'm in my room or i'm asleep or i wake up in the middle of the night that i know i have felt or experienced something spiritual who can say that raise your hand if you if you know something has happened see almost everybody i remember when i was young when i was a kid i remember waking up and seeing stuff i remember waking up and feeling evil presence in my room at times my parents weren't saved i had no protection right you will deal with spiritual forces in your life no matter what no matter how old you are no matter how strong you are whether you're a christian or not satan is going to come his demon spirits are going to come they're going to attack you they're going to attack your mind they're going to attack your body they're going to try to get you into more and more and more sin and and and evil things and that's just the way it is they're going to try to turn you against people they're going to try to turn people against you i mean it's a spiritual war all right so you better know how to recognize it and know what to do
about right here's what peter said the apostle peter first peter chapter 5. i'll just start at verse 5. he said it this way he said likewise you're younger submit yourselves unto the elder yeah all of you be subject one to another and be clothed with humility for god resists the proud or let's say it this way god fights against those who think they know everything right and gives grace to the humble humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of god that he may exalt you in due time casting all your care upon him for he cares for you be sober or be alert be vigilant that means be aware that there is danger around you be sober be vigilant because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour so what does this this tell us here when he says your adversary that means your enemy your enemy is walking about seeking whom he may devour whom he may destroy and let me explain to you the word devourer here if a lion catches a gazelle or a deer or something does he swallow it whole in one bite no this is clearly saying that the devil hunts for people that he can start that he can catch hold of and start devouring them bit by bit by bit a little bit at a time [Music] until what until you're destroyed so he says your adversary and then he says who he is the devil is a warning and then he says be sober be vigilant means be aware that he is after you don't act like some drunk inebriated idiot who thinks oh i'm okay jesus died on the cross for me two thousand i'm okay nothing gonna happen to me really i think you're you're in trouble already see what the devil looks for you know what does a lion look for when he comes up on a herd of gazelle or zebras he looks for ones yeah ones who are straying from the pack a little bit they'll get off on their own who might be a little sick or a little weak or a little a little off what and listen why do sheep or zebras or gazelles you know they're they're herd animals why do they why do they wander off you
know why they wonder they're not paying attention the safety and numbers thing they're not paying attention and they they're they're following oh there's another little morsel of grass oh there's another little morsel of grass and they're not paying attention they're getting away they're getting away from the safety of the herd and they're getting over where that tall grass is where there's something crouched down in it but the devil is as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour now look at what he says here to christians thank you oh i got one right here to christians he says i love this verse see some verses we just jump over we read over them real quick we don't think about what they mean but the very next verse says whom speaking of the devil that whom is the devil he said whom resist steadfast in the faith now let me just give you those words whom the devil resists that means to actively fight against why are you with me on that so guess what if you won't pray if you won't read the bible if you won't obey god if you won't bind the devil rebuke the devil resist the devil if you don't do something to fight against him he will start devouring you bit by bit your mind your belief system everything you have to fight him in the name of jesus and and i'm going to make this plain i hope i have already there is no other way to fight the devil but through the name of jesus christ the blood of jesus christ there is no other way you think you can do it with willpower or the positive thinking or wishful thinking or here's the one that everybody says well it might happen to them it's not going to happen to me [Music] really [Music] no there's nothing you know the wisest man ever lived solomon said this there's nothing new under the sun you're not smarter than all the billions of people who have come before you you're not somehow going to make it through this world in your own wisdom or your own abilities or your own brain no [Music] this is what most people out there think i'm smart enough i can do it without god really
about to get what they want all right look what he says and here's what's interesting if the devil can have no effect on christians because we're why does he say this verse 9 whom resists steadfast in the faith knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world meaning the devil's war against the saints the devil's war against christians the devil's war against people brings affliction to them brings mental anguish brings emotional pain brings all kind of temptation brings all kind of junk into our lives it's destructive he brings oppression he brings sickness he brings disease he brings death and these things are going on i i marvel i marvel at the christian pastors the american pastors that want to say if you're a christian the devil can't touch you and yet their church is full of people suffering under the oppression and demonic attacks of the devil and they don't teach them how to resist the devil fight the devil or get free from the demons and their counseling schedules are full because they're trying to counsel a demon instead of cast it out you don't cancel a demon you cast it out you bind it you break its power and you cast it out if you're getting oppressed and afflicted by demon spirits of of depression or or suicide or or lust and temptation to commit sexual sin if you're getting attacked by these things you've got to know it's demonic spirits trying to tempt you trying to oppress you you've got to bind them and resist them and command them to go from you in jesus name or you're going to get beat up and devoured and you're either going to grow up and be a man of god a woman of god or you're going to be just like everybody else in this world that's bound by lust and evil and darkness and depression and i'll say this i've been in this war for 25 years now on the right side not counting the years i got saved when i was 11 years old it was a war and the devil almost got me you know why because i was ignorant i was ignorant and i kept playing with his stuff say play with drugs play with sex play with alcohol play with false religions other religions other than g play with these things and you're just saying devil
come on in and devour me come on in and attack me come on in and eat me up let's go to luke chapter 10. well i tell you what before we go to luke go back to ephesians go to ephesians 4. y'all with me [Music] i just marvel everybody ephesians 4 look at me and grin if you're ephesians 4 you all right hold your finger there on ephesians 4 back up to ephesians 1. because we'll show you some whose ephesians written to is ephesians written to unsave people yep so he's writing to a church he's writing matter of fact paul here is writing to a church and he started all right look at verse 1 chapter 1 verse 1 paul an apostle of jesus christ by the will of god to the saints which are at ephesus and to the faithful in christ jesus to the saints that means someone [Music] holy ones who are in the lord made holy by the blood of jesus and to the faithful those who are being not lukewarm compromised christians those who are being faithful in christ jesus everybody see that all right look what he says in chapter 4. now look at what he says here we're going to start reading at verse 21. he said if so be that you have heard him and have been taught by him as the truth is in jesus that you put off concerning your former behavior the old man which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust and be renewed in the spirit of your mind and that you put on the new man which after god is created in righteousness and true holiness wherefore put away lying speak every man the truth with his neighbor for we are members one of another be angry and sin not let not the sun go down upon your wrath now look at this verse neither give place to the devil [Music] question if the devil can't touch a christian why does paul tell christians
don't give place to the devil meaning what we can let me give you a few things here's how you want to know how you give place to the devil everybody will know yes sir somebody say yeah here's how you give place to the devil first number one if you're taking notes write this down number one way to give place to the devil do nothing just be passive lazy do nothing spiritual do nothing and he will take piece after piece of ground in your life all right that's number one how you like that one just do nothing and you will give place to the devil number two sin you disobey god you disobey what god's plainly written in the bible remember cain got angry at his brother the bible says sin was lying at the door and then literally right by that sin satan was laying there and god tried to warn cain sin is at your door it's at your doorstep don't do it and king decided to go ahead and sin and kill his brother and it says when he when he made that decision that satan entered into him once you decide to sin you open the door for a demon spirit to come in you and then you lose a part of you you lose control [Music] it's what cain learned it's what adam and eve learned it's what judas learned right so that was number two disobey god let me tell you something let me tell you young people something because see y'all are living in a world that's worse than when i was your age 25 30 years ago let me explain something to you pornography and lust and sexual sin is everywhere sex outside of marriage is a sin it's called fornication it's a sin and it opens the door to demons pornography the lust of the eyes will open a door to demons in your life homosexuality same sex contact will open the door all these things are forbidden in the word of god
you open you play with those things and listen to me you may think you can play with the pornography or you can play with a little bit of sexual sin on the side let me tell you what's going to happen to you you open the door for demon spirits of lust to get in there and it makes it easier the next time and easier the next time until you can't control what you do why do you think people end up molesting little children they don't start out there that's where they end up because they keep opening the door to demons by sin so number one do nothing if you want to give place to the devil number two sin disobey god's word this bible right here in any place and you open the door to the devil let me give you number three [Music] number three [Music] associating with people who are full of demons ew we can spend a lot of time on this one i'm gonna give you a verse here though i want you to go back with first corinthians chapter 15. now this doesn't mean you can't talk to people that are unsaved or talk to people who have demonic problems but you can't hang out with them you can't be friends with them you can't you can't spend any amount of time with them and not get begin to get oppressed and open the door and give place to them and i'm going to show you this look here everybody with me verse oh let's look at this oh look at verse 31. paul talking to the corinthian church he says this i protest by your rejoicing which i have in christ jesus our lord i die daily he's talking about dying to the flesh if after the manner of me and i have fought with beast at ephesus and this is a reference to fighting demonic spirits but we won't get into that he says i have fought with beast at ephesus and what paul wasn't talking about he was wrestling lions and tigers and bears okay he says if i have fought with beast at ephesus what advantages me if the dead rise not let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die and he was having a discussion about the resurrection of the dead but look what he says right here look at verse 33. be not deceived evil communications corrupt good manners are y'all with me on that y'all stay with me first corinthians 15 33. who has a different translation than i do this morning what you got say it loud we yeah all right read that verse there read it loud okay
all right who's got it open you got it ready bad company corrupts good morals what is that one new american standard yeah read it 33 do not be so deceived and missile misled evil companionships commit communion associations corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and characters do you hear that why would hanging out with just hanging out with somebody communicating with somebody why would that the bible warn us that that can corrupt your character your morals here's what i want to put forth because of the demon spirits within them you're literally allowing them by by not you again not spending time with somebody to share the gospel with them or to trying to convert them but if you're just trying to befriend them and trying to hang out and just trying to get along and you're really not you're really not trying to get them to change or if you have spoken to them two or three times and they won't listen if you keep hanging out with people with demon spirits you're going to have their demon spirits and it will corrupt your behavior your morals and everything about you i could spend a lot of time on this maybe we'll do a whole message on transfer it's by association one day yes sir how do you deal with that again it's different it's different when you when you're at work you don't choose who you're around this is what i'm talking about you choosing you choose to hang out with somebody on a regular basis that's you opening the door you know paul even said he said we you know if if we can't be around anybody that's got a problem you know got a demon problem or we can't be around the world and we'd have to go out of the world that's not what he's talking about but it's friendship it's choosing to hang out with them a lot talk to them a lot be around them a lot fellowship a lot you see what i'm saying it's not that you can't be around them it's just what what association is this are you trying to get them the gospel and let me say this if you're trying to get somebody the gospel that you're friends with that you're hanging out with that's that's fine if you're trying to give them the gospel and you're trying to convert them that's all right there's it's almost like that's your safety wall but the moment it goes beyond that and it's just a lot of personal conversation a lot of you know
how do i put it if you're really trying to share the gospel of someone who is not saved or backslidden eventually if you're really sharing the gospel with them you will offend them and they won't want to hang out with you they'll either get saved or they don't want to hang out with you i mean but that's a good question we i'm not saying we are not supposed to we are supposed to love lost people and be around them and all that and i understand that but especially and i'm going to tell you this where this really comes into play and you can look at first corinthians 5 when this really comes into play is when it's a christian brother or sister who won't get out of sin now are you supposed to try to minister to them and get them to come out of it yeah absolutely but there comes a point if they won't listen then then if you keep hanging out and you keep talking and you keep and then sharing personal intimate things you're going to pick up their spirits and here's the thing it doesn't necessarily mean that you get possessed by the demons that they have but they begin to influence your character and your life to the point where you may fall into some sin and do something so it's an area it's an area that we must be cautious not completely avoid contact with unsaved people but it's an area we've got to be cautious about y'all know this what happens what happens at school if you get around a bunch of a group of kids that all they want to do is talk about girls in a bad way what do you find yourself doing it gets in your head you get what i'm saying it will influence you trust me you stand up for jesus and preach the gospel to people like that they'll either come with you or they'll leave you right i hate to put it that blunt but that's the way it is you know i i you know we've got we've got people even in our own family we've got these big rifts that go on in the family even i have with my own daughters why [Music] i love them i want to be around them but i'm not putting up with certain things and i'm going to tell them so i'm going to tell them what will save their souls and guess what happens there's periods they don't want to be around all right i'm like uh you know i wish it wasn't so but i'd rather have them saved than hanging out with me you know so truth hurts sometimes three things there i'm not going to go any further than that now i gave you three things that could open the doors i give place to the devil now what do you do what do you do when you're getting attacked by the devil what do you do if you've given place to the devil all right here's the good news all right let's
look at it remember we said jesus we read that in revelation 1 jesus came died on the cross rose from the dead before he rose from the dead though you know what he did bible says he went down into hell and he snatched the keys of hell and death away from the devil the authority that the devil has to bring affliction and pain and death and problems into your life there is an answer for and it's jesus but you have to do something with it right let's so let's look at it go with me let's go to um oh gosh so many places we go let's go to luke chapter 10 first a lot of teaching on the devil in it tonight i want to talk about him i'm just i'm sorry y'all but i am today i'm at a fed up level with the stupidity of christians i understand a lost person being ignorant of these things but a christian's been saved for any amount of time has read the bible and says this stupid stuff lord i just wonder i mean i i don't agree with this maybe sometimes you can but sometimes i think it's hard to fix stupid especially you tell somebody something three four five ten times and as plain as the nose on your face right there it is i don't believe that okay you and your adversary have fun you know and and here's the thing you know what makes me sad i've been preaching on these things here in the for for many years but here in auburn since 2009 i've had people come in this church with problems different problems christians with different demonic problems different temptations different sins different struggles and i've talked to them and i've shared with them the word and i've sat down and go here's what you've got to do and some have listened and some haven't and the ones that didn't listen i mean i think of two right now divorced away from god completely this is not a gang this is life and death stuff this determines the quality of your life and
what's going to happen with you in days ahead good news here we go look at what jesus said all right oh where should we start reading here let's go down to verse 17 jesus gave authority to 70 of his disciples he said he said he gave him authority that means he gave him power and the right to use his name and gave him authority and he sent him out to heal the sick and to cast out demons and look what happened these seventy came back they went out and they and they they resisted the devil and fought the devil and cast the devil out of many people and look what he said it said in the seventy return again with joy saying lord even the devils are subject unto us through your name the devil's subject that means the devils are under our authority when we use your name well that's good news right the devils are under authority through your name and then jesus spoke to him and he said i beheld satan as lightning fall from heaven behold i give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you notwithstanding in this rejoice not that the spirits are subject unto you but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven now jesus what condemning them he was excited because look at the next verse he said in that hour jesus rejoiced in spirit and he said i thank thee o father lord of heaven and earth that thou has hid these things from the wise and prudent as it revealed them unto babes even so father for so it seemed good in your sight he goes the people jesus rejoiced because he said the people who think they're smart don't get this simple concept that through the name of jesus christ through his power and authority we can resist the devil and he will flee we can cast him out of people in jesus name and jesus was rejoicing that even babes in the lord got a hold of this truth we got theologians today and pastors who don't get this simple principle of resisting the devil and casting demons out of people would some say it was only good for the 70 some would say that that's why we'll go to mark chapter 16. go to mark 16. that's a good question some would say it was only for the 70. i've heard that stupid argument and you know someone may be listening to this later oh man he's rough with that stupid but you know what as gump said stupid is as stupid does right if you're going to sit there with your doctorate of divinity degree and tell me
that we don't have power and authority over the devil anymore to cast demons out of people stupid is is stupid does right and can i just say this if your pastor and again i know y'all are here i'm talking this for those listening to this podcast if your pastor doesn't talk about resisting the devil binding the devil how to fight the devil and demonic attacks and overcome them and deliverance and how to get free you are in danger going to that church i'm just going to tell you in danger it's like going to a hospital it doesn't have the right drugs or some germ killing chemicals you hear what i'm saying enter at your own risk right mark's chapter y'all get me ticker not stop laughing mark 16. you know we could entitle this message stupid is as stupid does boy people just i got to hear what this is about we might just do that mark 16 15-20 after the resurrection of jesus he's speaking before he ascends to heaven and here's what he says verse 15 and he said unto them go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature now is that a command that was to carry on throughout the new testament until the second coming of jesus okay well guess what he didn't stop there did he knew what he said go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned and the son did it say an right there what happens when you put and it's connecting it to the previous sentence right and and these signs shall follow them that believe oh wait a minute does it say these signs shall follow some of them that believe or these signs shall follow only my apostles in the seventy and then when i leave here it's done with if it was done with why is jesus talking to them about it and saying these signs shall follow them that believe and what was the first thing he said first thing in my name in my name they shall cast out devils they shall speak with new tongues they shall take up serpents and that's
the principle of binding which i'll may be able to address but that's the principle of binding demons or temporarily suspending their activity for a moment or for a time the greek word airo to suspend says if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them and they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover amen here's what's interesting that stupid argument about it was only for the the twelve or only for the seventy i said i wonder what happened why did paul get to do it he came along as an apostle years later wait a minute why did why did stephen and and philip the deacons get to do it we could go on down the line this continued in the church go read church history the the late 1st century early 2nd century fathers guess what they still believed in casting out demons and did it and guess what this preacher does amen and it's not just a theory to me it's not something i just believe happens in africa no plenty of demon-filled demon oppressed demon possessed and everywhere in between people in america and in the church and christians some people say well christian can't have a demon now i've addressed that in here but let me just say that can a christian sin can a christian be stupid if they want to be stupid so if a christian can sin and a christian could be stupid then a christian can have a demon because you can give place to a demon if you want to right it's ridiculous can a christian have a demon can a christian commit adultery yeah guess what happens you commit adultery you get a demon [Music] now the good news is you can repent ask god to forgive you for that sin and the blood of jesus will wash that sin of adultery away and then you can say in the name of jesus i bind the demon spirits of adultery and lust that came into me i command you to go and they must obey you amen this is going to come in handy for some of you because you know what in the days ahead there are more and more people getting more and more demon field out there in the world there's more and more talk about occult activity and paranormal activity and all these things that are going on and i want to say this you're going to be confronted with people who have demons you're going to be confronted with actual demonic attacks against you and you need to know that you can resist them and fight them off in the name of jesus christ
right so [Music] can i study now let's let's go to james there's just a couple more three two or three more passages i want to cover real quick james chapter four maybe we can just do two james four i mean i get criticized listen folks i you want to you want to hear here's something that a christian who is is ignorant of these things will say well there's not a demon behind every bush no they're not behind behind bushes they're hanging out in your house they're hanging out in your church they're constantly looking for ways to attack you and oppress you no no they're not behind bushes or what's the other one what's the other one oh demon hunters i heard oh i'm demon hunters you talk about demons you talk about casting out demons you talk about resisting the devil or what the devil's doing you're a demon hunter no i don't have to hunt demons they come to me they come to oppress my family attack my family they come to attack my church members they i don't have to hunt them i'm not hunting any demons i would rather not be around any of them tell you the truth i hate them but they're constantly looking for ways to attack their con and especially i just you know i sent out a text but last week about praying for your pastor you just have no idea the attack the demonic attacks that come after pastors let me tell you how many pastors when i put that on facebook several pastors were amen and me all the way through they know saturday's and sunday mornings can be rough at times sometimes almost unbearable it feels i can't i can't even imagine a christian or a pastor doesn't know how to fight the devil who doesn't even address this i assure you if they ever told the truth they're getting the snot beat out of them because there ain't no way i mean i know how to fight and it's it's a slugfest i i don't even understand james 4. verse 7. here's another one of those verses verse seven everybody ought to and and let me say what a lot of people read is only the second part of this verse all right
first part of this verse says submit yourselves therefore to god resist the devil and he will flee from you what's that word resist actively fight against how do you fight against spirits with the words of your mouth everybody ought to say that with me i fight against the devil evil spirits by the words of my mouth and the name of jesus christ you want him to go you got to tell him to go amen submit yourselves therefore to god resist the devil and he will flee with me first you have to get yourself submitted to god obeying god then you can resist the devil and he'll flee for me look what verse 8 says and draw nigh to god and he will draw nigh or near you cleanse your hands you sinners and purify your heart she double minded get right with god listen this is what he's saying get right with god get close to god so you can resist the devil and make him flee from you if you don't he's going to devour your life [Music] he's going to deceive you trick you have you in some kind of sin some kind of false religion and take your soul to hell that's the goal that's it resist the devil now one more passage and i'm gonna quit today go with me to matthew chapter 16. well i say one more maybe two matthew 16. we're still good somebody say amen somebody say hallelujah say thank you jesus for power and authority over the devil and demons the word of god all right what did i just say matthew 16. i'm glad y'all paid attention matthew 16 let's look at this it's a famous passage of scripture here verse 13. jesus speaking to the church talking about the power of authority he would give us against the powers of darkness here because there's actually preachers and theologians and bible school teachers who say it's not biblical to bind the devil oh stupid is stupid does right let's keep reading verse 13 and when jesus came into the coast of caesarea philippi he asked his disciples saying who do men say that i the son of man am and they said some say that you are john the baptist some elijah and others jeremiah are one of the prophets and he said unto
them but whom do you say that i am and simon peter answered and said you are the christ or the messiah the son of the living god and jesus answered and said unto him blessed art thou simon barjona for flesh and blood has not revealed it unto thee but my father which is in heaven and i say also unto thee that thou art peter in the greek this is thou art a stone a little stone but he says upon this rock petra i will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it and i will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven that whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in the heaven and whatsoever thou shalt loose or there shall be loosed in heaven this term heaven here is talking about the spirit realm in the realm where god and his angels operate in the realm where demons and the devil operates and he's saying right here he's saying hey once you know who jesus is inside you've had an inward revelation you've been born again you've met the lord jesus christ and he's come into your heart and changed your soul he says i give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven right whatever you bind on earth is bound in the heavens whatever you loose on earth so the context here the context here is spiritual warfare so any true bible student teacher theologian if they were being honest which is hard for them to be honest if they were being honest they would say the context of this binding and loosing authority is spiritual warfare because jesus talked about the gates of hell not prevailing against the church right if there's any confusion about that you back up to matthew 12 and this will be our last one jesus speaks about this issue again about binding the strong man in the context of spiritual warfare all right now let's read this verse 22. matthew 12 22 then was brought unto him one possessed with the devil blind and dumb and he healed him in so much that the blind and dumb both spake and saw and all the people were amazed and said is not this the son of david basically they're saying it's not this the messiah the promised messiah but when the pharisees heard it the religious folks and guys with those letters behind their name but when the pharisees heard it they said this fellow does not cast out devils but by bills above the prince of the devils and jesus knew their thoughts and said unto them every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand and if satan cast out satan he is
divided against himself how then shall his kingdom stand and if i by bills above cast out devils by whom do your children cast them out therefore they shall be your judges but look at this but if i cast out devils by the spirit of god then the kingdom of god is come unto you or else how can one enter the strong man's house and spoil his goods except he first blind the strong man and then he will spoil his house so in the context he's talking about a strong man spoiling his house what by binding the strong man jesus was just talking about binding the devil first buying the strong man then you spoil his house the principle of binding the devil is biblical so i'm going to give you how you do it if you feel like you're getting attacked by some spirit a spirit of fear a spirit of lust whatever it may be a spirit of depression a spirit of suicide whatever it may be just name the thing by what it's doing if it's not of god guess who's sending it after you so what you do say it's a spirit of fear this is what you do say in the name of jesus christ i bind you spirit of fear i rebuke you i command you to go from me in jesus name and sometimes i like to add in so they know what jesus i'm talking about jesus christ of nazareth who died on the cross and rose from the dead i command you go from me listen i heard a story of a muslim we know how messed up they are that's the most demonic religion on the face of the earth but this muslim was getting attacked by this demonic spirit he was in one of his five times a day prayer sessions we can't get christians to pray once but these nuts will pray five times a day but he was in one of his fight i mean he was a dedicated muslim had even even admitted that he participated in um killing someone over their religion and this guy he was on tv i have to look up his name but anyway he was testifying was one of the most powerful testimonies i ever heard on tv i brought tears to my eyes of how he came to jesus but you know how he came to jesus he said he was in his muslim prayer one day and this evil spirit see muslims believe in evil spirits they call them jinns and he said he felt this gin this evil spirit come over and it was trying to choke him you ever felt that at night like any of you ever felt like you were laying in your bed all of a sudden you felt like something was choking you or pressing you down to the bed and holding you and you couldn't move that's a demon well this guy was feeling this in his prayer time in his muslim prayer time so he rebuked the thing in the name of allah didn't go anywhere he said i rebuked and commanded to leave me in the name of muhammad didn't go anywhere he said i even pulled out some of our
most holy names and references from the koran he didn't go anywhere and he said something told me [Music] use the name of jesus christ he said this thing he felt like it was choking him to death he was wide awake he said he was choking him to death he couldn't breathe this darkness was over him and he said finally he said in the name of jesus god he said that spirit left he said it totally messed up his whole life right there from then on he was like why if allah is god and mohammed is his final prophet why was there no power against this jinn this demon why did god tell me to use the name of jesus christ you won't know why because the bible is clear there is no name given under heaven whereby men must be saved in the name of jesus christ all power and authority is given to jesus [Music] this is important you know that man ended up giving his life to jesus and that was 20 something years ago and this man has been a light on fire he shared his testimony it was so powerful on tbn one night i don't even like tbn but every now and then they do something good but this guy shared his testimony it was so anointed and so powerful and he was sharing it in tears i'm thinking the guy just got saved it was so awesome he was just relating how it changed his life and how he came to know jesus and i'm sitting there and anointings all over and tears are in my eyes come to find out that it happened 25 years ago one truth you can get free the only power against satan the only power against evil spirits is the name and the blood of jesus christ and if you don't walk in that you're going to be destroyed that simple amen let's pray sure this was given to me during worship but you guys know my wall for the lack of so i doubted it
your scriptures confirmed it it said i am the beginning i am the end that which has started i was there that which is to end i am there come rest your head on my feet and your burden on my shoulders um and fret no further you will see the day when evil will burn in hell and when you gave us revelations you started and it said i am the alpha and the omega revelations 1 18. and says i am he that liveth and was dead and behold i am alive forevermore amen and have the keys of hell and of death the holy spirit spoke to me sorry this is good when you gave us first peter five verse six it says humble yourselves therefore under i can't even read it the mighty hand of god that he may exalt you in due time so therefore i want to ask you to pray amen
