lord let that be our prayer this morning god that you will empty us lord empty us of everything that's not of you lord that's flesh that's pride that's selfish desires it's lust that's just god just empty us lord because we want to be filled with the holy spirit we want to make more room in us for the holy spirit to fill us and to anoint us and to set his fire in us lord i just pray that in the name of jesus lord that you'll just get that in our heads that what we need is more of the holy spirit more fire more passion more anointing more glory in us first because lord is not by might nor by power that anything is accomplished by your holy spirit god everything that's truly done by you is done by the power of your holy spirit in the mighty name of jesus god help us to understand that it's not how much knowledge we have it's not how long we've been saved it's how much anointing and fire of the holy spirit we have that makes a difference i pray that this morning in jesus name amen and amen you know once again i feel like the lord just completely changed everything yes sir sure only set inspire you to get on the altar first amendment amen amen i hope everybody heard that losing the mic praise the lord before you get the fire you got to get on the altar amen that's good hallelujah and that's you know if i could get people to understand that more than anything else i think you know i think it was leonard ravenhill said this in his book my revival teres many years ago and i know he used to say it in his preaching he used to say with all thy getting get unction and and what he meant by the word unction is the word unctions used in first john as a word for the anointing or empowerment of the holy spirit um see this is what listen with god there's always a goal there's always a reason for things right and we think a lot of times that you know you know we don't always put together why god wants certain things done right but really listen to me the main thing you know or the main reason that god wants you to get sin out of your life and compromise out of your life and lukewarmness out of your life
is first of all of course to save you that nothing will keep you from going to heaven for all eternity that's number one but number two is he wants everything out of the way in your life so you can be filled with the holy spirit and you can be anointed amen there's nothing more wonderful than the anointing i know another thing that leonard ravenhill used to say he goes i have a hard time sometimes explaining what the anointing is but i can tell you what it isn't and even preaching and teaching in christian ministry and witnessing and all the things that we want to do praying for the sick casting out demons anything that's truly accomplished in the kingdom of god that's of god is going to be accomplished because somebody got anointed by the holy spirit got empowered by the holy spirit was led by the holy spirit and the holy spirit worked through them amen and so when we talk about the holy spirit um you know he can be quenched he can be grieved he can be resisted um and a lot of that goes on in in the very people that should be yielding to the holy spirit submitting to the holy spirit flowing in the holy spirit and so i i don't know the lord just as we sang those songs this morning about fire and about being filled with the fire you know there's different aspects to the work of the holy spirit and and i love them because you know he's referred to let me just give you the symbols real quick that the bible refers to the holy spirit first of all as living water jesus referred to the holy spirit as living water how many of you know we can't live without water in the natural realm right you need water every day don't you now some of us don't drink enough of it i.e just like in the christian world we don't drink in enough of the holy spirit but he's referred to as living water so the very thing that most of the planets made out of and the thing that we have to have to to survive to live and not become sick and dehydrated and our organs start shutting down and die the lord's trying to tell us something he refers to the holy spirit as the living water so the very spiritual life if if you want to to enhance your spiritual life and flow and have spiritual life flowing through you instead of spiritual death then you need the holy spirit amen you need to be filled you need to be filled as jesus said be filled to overflowing he that believeth on me but out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water john 7. that's what he said so we should be people so filled with the living water of the holy spirit that it just overflows out of us like a river amen another
symbol of the holy spirit is the dove right when it's the bible says that jesus was baptized in john 2 and other places when it talks about jesus was baptized in water by john the baptist said they saw the the holy spirit come and descend upon him like a dove now why did the holy spirit take that symbol to represent him because i want to tell you the the dove represents a a peaceful creature quiet right but you know this if a dove lands in your yard and you want to just you want to be close to that dove and watch that dove and be you know and check it out you can't make any wild movements you can't make any loud noises you can't just you know be crazy and what the lord's trying to show us i believe through that is to have the peace of the holy spirit the leading of the holy spirit we have to sometimes what we have to spend time being quiet and being still and being with him and that's where the peace comes from right so the holy spirit's talking about you you want me you're going to have to spend time with me in quiet in prayer in private time away from all the distractions away from all the loudness right come on just sharing what's on my heart this morning all right right now another revelation we have of the holy spirit is he's wind right now i love this when jesus john chapter 20 and i'm going to give you a lot of verses this morning we are going to turn to some in a minute but in john 20 after he rose from the dead it said he walked up to his disciples and he said he breathed on them and said receive the holy spirit so jesus breath he breathed on them he blew on them and they received a touch an impartation of the holy spirit now i believe that's when they received the holy spirit to be born again but there was an impartation of the holy spirit but the symbol was the breath of god the wind of god of course on the day of pentecost when they were baptized in the holy spirit and spoke with other tongues it says that a rushing mighty wind filled all the house right now what's wind what's what do we see when wind wind gives power to you know back in the day they didn't have motor boats they had sails right wind gives power to these ships in the sea to move to go places and and i can prove my point because in john 3 jesus talked about everyone who was born of the spirit would be like the wind right be led around some sometimes people think oh you're crazy when you're led by the spirit because you're you're kind of blown over here a little bit and you're kind of blown over there a little bit but right what is what does romans 8 14 says the sons of god which means the sons or the daughters of god are led by the spirit of god and i love another terminology you know what the bible talks about in ephesians 4 about the fivefold ministry and not
being blown about by every wind of doctrine right so the devil has his wind right trying to lead us into error lead us in deception lead us into sin but the wind of the holy spirit always leads us into truth right jesus said this when the holy spirit has come he will lead you and guide you into all truth he will speak to you he will show you things to come so the wind i believe represents the communication and the guidance of the holy spirit in our lives amen oh now here we go now there's how many i've given you what three all right there's another one yeah another one is the anointing of the holy spirit or the oil he's he's a symbol of the holy spirit in the bible is the oil and that literally means to be smeared marked touched with this oil now this oil when you when that that word is charisma right that word is charisma and that word means to be empowered by the holy spirit so the anointing of the holy spirit is the empowering you to do the ministry empowering you to preach and teach empowering you to be a witness empowering you to to break the strongholds of the enemy remember the bible says in in isaiah chapter 10 that the yoke of the enemy is destroyed because of the anointing oh come on now amen if the yoke of the enemy is destroyed because of the anointing you ought to say this i need the anointing oh yeah listen i know a lot of christians who are unanointed okay and i'm going to tell you why we're going to get i'm going to pick the bible up here and we're going to flip through some things here in a second but oh how we need the anointing the anointing also represents the gifts of the holy spirit the the nine gifts prophecy tongues interpretation of tongues discerning of spirits seeing discerning what's going on in the spirit realm word of knowledge when god reveals something supernaturally about either the past or the present word of wisdom when god really reveals something about his future or his will for you a lot of people think prophecy is all about the future no word of wisdom is about the future okay prophecy is about the future too but word of wisdom is god revealing his will about the future all right god can reveal to me there's going to be a famine that's prophecy that's revealing to me there's going to be a famine but a word of wisdom god reveals to me what he wants me to do about when that famine comes that's the word of wisdom okay a word of knowledge is when god reveals to me something that i there's no way i could know about your past or your presence something going on in your life
and god supernaturally reveals it well i love it when that one happens blows people's minds you know right the other one they have to wait until it comes to pass that when they go how in the world he know that about me right then of course there's the gifts of healing and the working of miracles i talked about that last week a little bit right the gift of faith so the nine gifts of the holy spirit but when we when we hear about those gifts jesus said this in luke 4 he said when he got up and quoted isaiah in the synagogue he said the spirit of the lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel see the anointing is for ministry work the other ones i just talked about are for you right there's another part of this remember at the day of pentecost and jesus said this he said i'm going to baptize you or john said it you know there's one coming this guy i baptize you with water but there's one coming going to baptize you with the holy ghost and fire right so the fifth one the holy spirit is represented as fire now let me tell you about that fire is for many reasons but the main reason that there that fire is is to burn or to purify right i don't even know if uh if we got some some nasty water you gotta get it hot to kill all the impurities right it's to make it safe to drink if you're going to purify gold it's got to be put in a furnace right and all the impurities got to be burned out to get that pure gold or that pure silver so the fire of the holy ghost is that purifying factor and that's what he wants to work in our lives is the purifying factor but also fire speaks of zeal and passion matter of fact the greek word in the new testament when it talks about zeal and when jesus remember when jesus told the lukewarm church in revelation 3 he said be hot or be cold but if you're lukewarm i'll spew you out of my mouth and he said everyone i love i chased him and i rebuked and he said be zealous therefore and repent the greek word zealous there for zealous is zeo which means to be fervent like boiling water well how do you get water to boil you got to have some fire right you got to have some fire of the holy ghost and that's what he was telling that church you've lost the fire the fire's gone out your water your life everything is lukewarm it's getting cold you need the fire of the holy ghost so the fire is to revive us to stir us up again to purify us and let me tell you something else fire spreads amen the holy ghost can take fire in you his fire in you blow his wind upon it and spread that fire to other places
fire of the holy ghost also represents the revival i remember now i'm going to i'm going to share some things i remember that some of the most powerful times in the revival and of course people got criticized in the brownsville revival but i am a and am an eyewitness and an experienced the fire of revival when i was at during the brownsville revival and even that fire spread over to me and i would go places and minister like in i went over into georgia to minister one time and the fire of god just just flowed um but this this fire is it this passion this zeal this um i mean it's like in little explosions of the holy ghost okay i'm on now and boy this is good stuff man because i thought let me tell you one story this was what this was cool we were i was at a church in montgomery big church god was wanting to move in this church and this is before this is as god began to heal me and and heal my heart through the things that i'd gone through and i'd gone back to this church a big church in montgomery and one of my my uh associate pastor that had been with me for a while had become one of the pastors of this church and you know he was we we were restored our relationship and god was working but anyway you know here's the thing about the lord and this is what i love let's talk we're talking about the gifts of the holy spirit uh romans 11 29 says the gifts and calling of god without repentance now this doesn't mean a lot of people take that and think well that means you're once saved always saved no matter how you live no it's talking about the gifts that god gives you when you become a born-again christian he doesn't take them back he gives them to you you can use them correctly or you can misuse them but they're yours okay and you'll give an account on the day of judgment how you use them right but they're yours he's not taking them back and here's the beautiful thing and this is just going out to you know we we have our church in here and i pretty well know what's going on and those of you in here today we don't have any visitors but those listening i don't know who may be listening across the country but here's the beautiful thing about god no matter how far you fall away you struggle you fall down maybe at one time you were on fire and you were anointed and god was using you and you were preaching and you were leading people to jesus and seeing people get saved the gifts of the holy spirit were working in your life but you know some stuff happened and you fell into sin and you've got lukewarm and you fell away and all that stuff and you got mixed up and messed up and confused and deceived or whatever happened you fell and and walked away here's the beautiful thing if you come home if you ask god to forgive you and you turn away from all that and you leave
that lifestyle of sin and the stuff you fall on and you come back and you come back humble just saying i just want to be right with you god i don't want to die and go to hell i have a reverence and a fear of god again and a humility that i don't deserve anything here's what god does he forgives the prodigal son comes home and he forgives and the prodigal son said i'll just be a servant in your house i'll just be a servant well i don't have to be a son anymore i don't have to have special privileges anymore i'll just be a servant and what does the father do oh no yeah puts the new the robe on and the ring you know what's beautiful about that that robe represented the anointing of the holy spirit remember elijah's mantle or his coat the robe he wore the anointing of god was on that representing that so when elijah was taken to heaven and that mantle that robe fell down elisha picked it up because elisha had asked for the anointing that was upon elijah and that robe represented that so he got home the robe represented the anointing of god so god immediately put the anointing of the holy spirit back on him and the ring represented his authority as you know because back then they would take the rings their rings were used as seals and stamps signatures it represented their authority and their power and immediately the the prodigal son comes home truly repents leaves the sinful lifestyle leaves the harlots and the righteous living comes home humble ask his father to forgive him i've sinned against you i've sinned against heaven forgive me all this is in luke 15. forgive me and he restores what the robe and the ring and i remember when when i went through my period of being angry at god and confused and upset with christians and didn't go to church for a year and all the stuff i went through when i came out of that and dealt with my unforgiveness and dealt with my bad attitude and my offenses and dealt with my lukewarmness and asked god to forgive me repented what was amazing that's why i'm going back to this is that the anointing came back on immediately and i wasn't looking to be i didn't even want to preach i didn't even want to minister but the anointing and the gifts came back on me and it was like you can't you cannot resist this you can't you this is your gift this is your calling these are not taken away yes you fell away yes you fell down yes you got wounded and you fell down but now you're back now put the robe back on you put the ring back and this is what was powerful so we were praying we started praying every friday night having prayer meeting at this church god started stirring up a group of people to want to see revival in that church the pastor said he wanted revival but it was really i think just lip service because he didn't want to do what was necessary
but he let my my friend and brother preach on sunday nights i love how pastors think we're going to relegate revival to sunday night service but we can't do it on sunday morning because we might offend some people no you won't have the holy spirit long the holy spirit will show you he wants to move then he'll leave which is exactly what he did but i remember this and i'm saying all that to share this what would happen was my my brother would get up and preach not my real brother but my friend he would get up and preach a message on revival we'd show clips from the brownsville revival documentary and then he would give an altar call for people to repent people come up and repent and then though we would do just like the brownsville services would do we'd start praying for people all right and i want to tell you one particular night i guess about 80 to 90 people showed up on sunday night and this this is another reason that church didn't have revival because they had about 1600 members but for the revival teaching and the revival only about 80 90 maybe 100 would show up right on sunday night you know and i remember when i saw that i'm like they won't have revival here god will show them he wants to move and then he'll leave because they don't really want him right so you know my uh my brother lance he he had a power he he has a powerful foundation in him about revival history and church history and he would preach some of that and then we share some of that and so anyway i remember he would always ask me because god was starting to give me prophetic words for the church prophetic words for people i wasn't even trying to do anything i'd be sitting in the pew trying to just trying to just get back into the swing of things and the anointing would come on me and the holy spirit would give me a word and i'd be sitting there and of course lance would stop he'd say ding do you have anything and i would say yeah and i'd get up and i remember but when we start praying for people man i'm talking about the power of god would hit and all i would say i'd walk up to people and i just say fire of god they'd fly back about 15 feet and hit the ground and i remember and i remember the lord was just saying i i haven't left you right so i remember one night this was this was awesome and i'm just telling the story just so you know i understand what this fire thing is about right the fire aspect the explosions of the holy spirit the touch god can work through you right to to to transfer that fire to other people but i remember um lance got up and preached and and gave the altar call a few people came up and prayed around a while and the lord told me he said because we've gotten into a pattern of things he would always ask me and then we'd minister so the lord said go go stand at the back of the church and do nothing i said yes sir and this church is huge man so i went back to a back corner you
know a mile away from the the stage from the pulpit and i remember the lord just said sit there wait so no joke i was back there an hour hour and a half people were praying at the altar lance just sat down on the steps at the altar he just sat down and didn't move and so as time went by people started leaving you know it went from about 90 down to about you know 40 and then about 30 and then the lord said all right go back up there so i went up to the platform and i sat down by lance he goes hey i was what do you think what do you think we're supposed to do i said i don't know yet and we just sat there looked at each other looked around there were people standing in the ah you know in some of the aisles praying and just had their head bowed and i remember the lord said go pray for this group over here there was about five or six standing in the aisle right there i said i walked over to him and said lord said for me to pray for you and i knew he told me what to say he said just say fire and i laid hands on i said holy ghost came down hit them they all went backwards to the ground the power of god hit the whole place people were on their faces for hours i don't think we left there until about two in the morning on a sunday night but because they wouldn't take that fire to sunday mornings the holy spirit was grieved and he left but i've seen that fire i remember when i went to this was in 1996 i'd been going to the brownsville revival and getting prayed for and they would pray for that fire or that revival fire to be transferred and i remember getting in that getting in that in that holy ghost revival fire i remember the feeling it was just unreal just a a fresh impartation of the holy spirit to just stir you up and put passion in you and zeal and hunger and i remember going to georgia a friend of mine that i'd known for years was over in georgia he had a a group of about 50 or 60 or so that a lot of them were young people um but he you know they just did a friday night uh messianic shabbat service and i would go to those sometimes and he and i would go up to birmingham years ago he lived in alabama we'd go up to beth okay in birmingham and i know about the messianic that's where i ran you know first heard dr michael brown and and that whole thing back in the late 80s early 90s power of god right so um where was i georgia anyway i go to this thing they don't even have a church there but saturday night or friday night i can't remember it's friday night that's right friday night 60 people packed into this house mostly young people
and you know what god had me share on the lukewarm church be zealous be on fire shared about how god touched me with the the fire of the holy spirit at the brownsville revival shared that gave an altar call for people to repent of sin and compromise and lukewarm christianity people came up knelt down prayed some people were crying some people were getting the right so anyway this you know we started the meeting at about seven o'clock in the evening and so by that time that we'd had praise and worship for an hour and i'd preach for about an hour and we'd had all to call for about it we got three hours into it boy i tell you what christians are nowadays are impatient right well we're three hours into it and people are still staying and i'm like okay the lord says now i just want you to have them everybody stand up and just start praying for people simple prayers fire of god fire fire touchable fire man started praying especially the young people power of god was being transferred they were hitting the floor weeping their eyes out we were there until two in the morning and most of them didn't want to leave the glory of god you went about the glory of god for an entire weekend i was only supposed to speak in that one service god opened the door the next day i spoke at a women's globe meeting in the early morning around brunch i spoke at the first baptist church there to the promised keepers men's meeting the power of god fell so strong that i had to hold on to the pulpit in the first baptist church of dublin georgia and then the next day we had an impromptu sunday morning service and then there was an uh there was a a city-wide prayer meeting where all these churches came together and got opened the door for me to speak to the whole city about revival in the fire of god see you hear what i'm saying and out of that a church was born and and some powerful things happen but what i'm saying is is we need the fire the fire of god is that again that zeal that passion that purifies that uh that that i don't know makes us look radical right and listen it's not taught it's caught amen you hear me this is something i can't really teach you about you just have to hunger and want something you have to ask for something you have to desire i want the fire of god i want the anointing of god amen and of course i won't go too much into this one but another another aspect of the holy spirit i said there was five but really there's six or seven but another aspect is the wine he's referred to as the one right what does wine do to you if you have a nice portion of it makes you feel pretty good i have experience with these things
in my younger days right but see remember that alcohol and the natural not good but there's aspects of that in the in the spirit realm can you be drunk in the spirit yes i mean i have been so filled and overwhelmed with the wine of the holy ghost that i could hardly walk i've gotten a dui if i'd have been in an automobile right this is real but what comes with that joy right and that's okay now there are people out there faking this stuff yes anything anything of the holy spirit there are people out there who will fake and counterfeit and all that but listen like like i said last week we don't throw the baby out with the bath water and just because there's counterfeit money out there we don't empty our wallets and go burn it right so anyway but i want to i want to go to some some verses about this i want to look at some stuff because go to first of all go to first thessalonians chapter chapter 5. see this this two flies in the face of calvinism because calvinism says one of the five points of calvinism is is called irresistible grace or they teach it the holy spirit cannot be resisted or quenched that or what god's going to do he's going to do well when it comes to man that's not the way god works they have a problem you know that verses in 1st timothy 2 when it says god wills that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth and if god wills all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth and yet we know all men will not be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth then we see that god's will is not always done meaning man can resist god's will and that god does not force his will on man now there are certain things that god has preordained that will be done but within all of that there is free will you never take free will away from man god never would do that right and so this flies in the face of calvinism because calvinism teaches you can't resist the holy spirit or quench the holy spirit yet what does the bible say these men are driving me crazy out here these preachers the bible says this and they say the opposite that drives me nuts right uh i mean john macarthur one of the big uh calvinists out there one of the most famous preachers right now i heard the the audio of him plainly being questioned can you take the mark of the beast and
still be saved in the end he said yes now get this three ministers were on that radio show and agreed with him one was jimmy deyoung who's popular among the baptist and was even here in town uh year and a half two years ago right down here at purpose baptist i know he was there speaking and and he's an end time prophecy guy and then you got brandon house who's a presbyterian well known in presbyterian circles but these calvinists i'm going to tell you they have issues i mean they're already in error and they just find themselves getting deeper and deeper into error because you can't resist the holy spirit you know of course john macarthur says that none of this the gifts of the holy spirit and the miracles and all that ceased with the apostles he's one of those guys out there right and i'm sitting here going but when you say that you can take the mark of the beast and still be saved in the end when the bible says in revelation 14 that if any man takes the mark or worships the beast or receives his mark of his right hand or forehead that that man will or woman any man woman whatever that they will be in the torment and fire and brimstone they'll be tormented in fire brimstone and the smoke of their torment will go up day and night forever there is no forgiveness for that once you do that okay and i couldn't believe these three ministers of the gospel they claim to be say the very opposite but anyway i know that hurts some people's feelings out there but i'm sorry you know john mcarthur would look at me as a pentecostal preacher and say that i am a heretic and i am an heir well i can look at him and say no you're the heretic and you're an heir we both can't be right one of us is right one of us is wrong i contend he's wrong and it's obvious right uh you know if you can't see that john macarthur is teaching heresy about the mark of the beast you're blind as a bat right probably bats see better than you with their sonar or whatever they got right blind leading the blind jesus said both fall into the ditch anyway that was a little side trail there but somebody needed that right but let's read first thessalonians chapter five let's go on down here and this was just paul some of paul's final instructions of course he talked about the the last days and that if we were children of god we wouldn't be caught unaware that we would be awake but i want you to go down to verse 12. we're going to read from there it says we beseech you brethren to know them that labor among you and are over you in the lord and admonish you know them so discern them know them know what they believe know what they teach and know if they have the anointing on them and if they do they're teaching truth they have the anointing on them and they are truly elders and pastors
and leaders in the kingdom he said and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake and be at peace among yourselves so first thing he's telling us there is be careful of sowing discord and fighting against authority in the church and things of that nature he says now we exhort you brethren and warn them that are unruly so warn the unruly what does unruly mean those that don't want any rules right they're outback like paul says no rules just right right no rules right unruly comfort the feeble-minded and yes there are feeble-minded christians support the weak be patient toward all see that none render evil for evil unto any man but ever follow that which is good both among yourselves and to all men so don't render evil for evil rejoice ever more and i guess if this is a bible command then there's a choice oh boy here we go pray without ceasing in everything give thanks for this is the will of god in christ jesus concerning you and look at verse 19 quench not the spirit ignore it i don't know explain it away quench not this or paul just asked for those you may not hurt what do they do with this verse the calvary's i don't know man i don't know i guess they use one of those bibles it's cut out of i don't know but it says quench not the spirit that literally means do not put out the spirit's fire now that doesn't mean that we can put out the holy spirit he's always going to be who he is he's he's part of the godhead he is part of god he will always exist he always has existed right he's always a burning fire he's always the anointing he's always the wind he's always ever you know what i'm saying he's always that but so what is he talking about he says quench not the holy spirit meaning in you or even in your church oh boy there's a lot of people right now there's pastors and i can name them so few by name there's pastors that are trying to get their churches to move on with god to get full of the holy spirit to quit being afraid of the baptism of tongues and the gifts of the holy spirit to quit to quit quenching the holy spirit what he wants to do and quenching the fire and passion and zeal and worship and things of that nature and yet they've got deacons and they got elders and they got older people and sometimes they got younger people but no we can't do that we got to be secret sensitive you know oh we can't have tongues in sunday morning because people will leave and it did amazing though paul said in first corinthians that tongues was assigned to the unbeliever oh i remember a girl came in in the church i pastored in montgomery one time a girl
had to be in her 20s maybe late 20s i know she she was an alcoholic because she confessed it when she came forward that she was an alcoholic she had not gone to church in her life or she you know a little bit here and there but she was not a christian she was not following after god she believed in god but she came into our church service in in montgomery she'd never been in a pentecostal church and she was sitting on the back row and that particular morning god gave me a tongue and an interpretation of the tongues that morning and when i gave the altar call that morning she came forward shaken under the power of the holy spirit and she said i've never had heard tongues i'd never heard of that but she said when you spoke in tongues she goes some power came over me and rattled me and shook me and she's like i want to be free from my alcoholism and i'd even preach about alcohol that day or drunkenness right holy ghost shook her and it was a sign to her that that was of god right woe be to the john macarthurs and the people that said tongues is of the devil will be to you sir you know not of which you speak right paul said i speak with tongues more than all of you i think it's a good thing and then again i don't know how they get down to the end of chapter 14 in first corinthians where it says forbid not to speak with tongues forbid not let all things be done decently in order anyway i digress right here's what it but but he said quench not the spirit that's what i love despise not prophesying despise not you know what the word despise means of course now in english we when we hear the word despise we may think that means i just hate that you know and it kind of does mean that still but this means to esteem very lightly or to take lightly or to not like now prophesying a lot of the baptists and methodists and different people who don't understand they think preaching is prophesying that's what they say if you're a preacher and you're preaching that's prophecy no prophesying means that you are inspired what you're saying at that moment is inspired by the holy ghost listen a satanist can get up and preach and that doesn't mean that they're prophesying and the holy spirit's working through them you hear what i'm saying they're full of the devil they could be a deceiver a false prophet a false apostle a deceitful worker an angel of light up there talking about jesus and maybe even quoting a scripture but it doesn't mean they have the anointing and it doesn't mean they're prophesying prophesying means if you just look it up it means inspired speaker meaning the holy spirit has come on you and he's speaking through you so he says don't despise prophesy i know churches that would never want
anybody to get up and actually prophesy prophesying is kind of the word that encompasses everything foretelling the future anointed spirit-led spirit inspired preaching it can be revealing supernatural revealing the secrets of men remember first corinthians he said that if you prophesy and people come in and the secrets of their heart are revealed oh man don't despise prophesying prophesying also will reveal sin in the camp well this is the part of of the gift of prophecy and prophets that the church world doesn't like they despise because listen god wants to expose sin not because he's trying to hurt somebody he's trying to help you if he's exposing a problem in a church or in your life it's not because because he wants to hurt you is because he's trying to help you and get that get you to recognize it acknowledge it and confess it and get that thing out of you so prophesying is a good thing even if even if the prophecy has to tell you something you don't want to hear or that's uncomfortable right so don't despise prophesying and then he tells us this prove all things or test all things and hold fast to that which is good so test it test the prophecy test the gifts of the spirit test it against the word of god if it's if it's not violating the word of god anywhere and if it's calling you closer to jesus if it's pointing out sin and telling you to leave sin if it's from somebody who's sound in sound doctrine and living a godly life then guess what you can test what's being prophesied you can test the gifts of the spirit and you can know what is true and what is false and just the fact that paul has to write this under inspiration the holy spirit means god's saying there's going to be faults there's going to be faults and there's going to be true and you're going to have to test it and know which is which but once you've tested it and you've determined it's holy ghost it's anointed it's the fire of god it's the truth of god it was a true prophecy you better not despise it or take it lightly right oh now see what i'm saying y'all staying with me so don't quench the holy spirit right okay let's go to ephesian ephesians chapter four somebody say hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah that's your turn into ephesians music hallelujah it's all right to be joyful
i'm choosing to rejoice ephesians 4. all right let's we'll we'll start reading let's see here all of this is good oh let's just read a few verses from verse 17 this i say therefore testify in the lord that ye hints forth walk not as other gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind having their understanding dark and being alienated from the life of god through the ignorance that is in them because of the blindness of their heart now let me stop right there just because he had to tell them these christians just mean they could do this if i tell you don't walk like the gentiles walk that means you could walk like the gentiles walk right the unsaved those outside the covenant he said what they walk after the vanity of their mind their understanding is darkened they're and they're alienated from the life of god don't be like that life of god what do we say the holy spirit is life life that's right don't be alienated from the holy spirit the water of life right oh this is just good stuff here verse 19 who being past feeling meaning they've resisted the holy spirit so much that their conscience has become seared or calloused having given themselves over to lasciviousness meaning they practice sexual immorality and uncleanness and he says to work all uncleanness with greediness mean i want more more more he said but you have not so learned christ now remember he's speaking to christians don't be like the world if so be that ye have heard him and been taught by him as the truth is in jesus that you put off concerning the former conversation or behavior the old man which is corrupt according to deceitfulness lust be renewed in the spirit of your mind how we renewed bible tells us in titus by the holy spirit right we're renewed by the holy spirit by staying keeping our minds on the word of god he said that you put on the new man which after god is created in righteousness and true holiness wherefore for that reason if you're going to be in righteousness and true holiness put away lying speak every man the truth with his neighbor for we are members one of another be angry but sin not let not the sun go down upon your wrath neither give place to the devil let him that stole steel no more but rather let him labor working with his hands the thing which is good that he may have to give to him that needs or needeth let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth but that which is good to the use of edifying that it may minister grace to the hearers and look at verse 30 and grieve not the holy spirit of god whereby you are sealed into the day of redemption let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and evil speaking be put away from among you with all malice and be kind one to another tend to hearted forgiving one another even as god for christ's sake has forgiven you
and then anyway it continues but the reason i want to read so much of that is here he's saying all right we don't first thessalonians don't quench the holy spirit the gifts of the holy spirit primarily the fire the passion right don't despise prophesying we're talking about context here right here the context is you can grieve the holy spirit if you won't give up sin and worldliness and lust and meditating on on what the gentiles meditate on with the unsaved meditate song so he's specifically saying the holy spirit is grieved or he's he he is he can't deal with it he's not going to keep dealing with that in your life he's he's going to back up from you it hurts him when you won't give up a sinful habit or a sinful lifestyle or he just he's like so so here's the thing see this is the problem there's a lot of people in the church world who say they want the holy spirit they want to be baptized in the holy spirit speak in other tongues they want to flow in the gifts they want to be anointed they want the fire of god but they don't want they won't give up a sinful habit and so the holy spirit in their life is grieved they are hindering him and not allowing him to do what he wants to do in their life right see this is this is why i i get grieved when people won't turn loose of certain sinful habits and i'm not saying christians never sin and even good christians i'm just saying you know the difference we've talked about a lot remember he and he talked about it here giving they give themselves over to this lasciviousness this immorality and uncleanness something habitual that keeps going on the holy spirit is going to back away from you and a lot of people try to point out say well it says they're sealed into the day of redemption you know what today the sealed means the seal doesn't mean you're you're trapped or god's got you locked in a seal is simply a mark that's all it is you're just marked until the day of redemption and guess what for those who knew god and fell away it says that their judgment is going to be worse than those who never knew 2 peter 2 right so that's why you're marked oh you're one of you're a christian we've got to put you over here to judge you differently than we're going to judge these unsaved people who never knew me you get judged differently right i love how people take things oh you're sealed into the day of redemption that means you're eternally secure no matter what where do you get that well that's a lot of assumption there on one little tiny
sentence right no you're marked i love how it talks about we we are the earnest the holy when the god gives us his holy spirit that's the earnest of his salvation what is earnest money anybody know what that is that's a down payment right but just because you put earnest money down in the house does that mean you have it yet no you got a down payment you got to finish paying that thing off before it's yours right okay see we take these words we make them something they're not that's how you get false doctrines okay now and then he says greet of course grieve not the holy spirit so don't grieve the holy spirit now go back let's go to acts five let's let's look at the context you want the anointing you want the fire of god you want the glory of god on your life and to be filled here's what he says acts chapter 5 right i'm sorry i think it's act seven let me let me flip there i'm just this was not on the on the plan today you guys no that's not the one i'm looking for it is acts 5 and then we're going to go to x 7. yeah here we go as the pharisees rebuking rebuking the apostles for preaching jesus right filling jerusalem with their doctrine the doctrine of jesus healing people you got to stop that listen folks i hate saying there's a lot of baptists a lot of methodists a lot of presbyterians john mcarthur you charismatic pentecostals you have to stop that stop that speaking in tongues stop that prophesying stop that casting out demons stop that healing the sick of jesus stop didn't we tell you to stop no sir i'm gonna tell you why i'm not listening to you because you don't have the holy spirit how do i know i know by this book right here because you had two groups of religious people you had the pharisees and the sadducees who at one point yeah they were the spiritual leaders of israel right but they had resisted the holy spirit they had resisted the messiah the truth and so now all they got is dead religion oh yeah they got the writings of moses and the prophets but it has no anointing on it it has no spirit on it because they have rejected the very messiah that it promised right so you got the dead church oh come on folks you got the dead church represented by the sadducees and the pharisees and you got the anointed holy ghost church represented by peter and john and the apostles and they're in conflict with one another well guess what nothing has changed there is nothing new under the sun there is still
a true church of jesus christ that's anointed and filled with the holy ghost and wants holiness and obedience and the power of god to fall and people to be saved and then there's one out there that claims to be and tells us to shut up and stop right now yes but look at what they said right here let's say in verse 28. they said did we not straightly command you that you should not teach in the name in this name talking about jesus behold you fill jerusalem with your doctrine and intend to bring this man's blood upon us then peter and the other apostles answer said we ought to obey god rather than men the god of our fathers raised up jesus whom you slew and hanged on a tree him god exalted with his right hand to be a prince and a savior for to give repentance to israel and forgiveness of sins wait a minute they just preach forgiveness of sins he said to give repentance and forgiveness of sins those go together and he said and we are witnesses of these things and so also is the holy ghost whom god has given to them that obey him oh no my friend if you say tongues is not for today if you say the baptism of the holy spirit's not for the day if you say healing's not for today if you say you can just believe in jesus but you don't have to repent you are a liar you are not obeying the teachings of jesus or the bible and you do not have the holy spirit because god gives the holy spirit to those who obey him folks i am not ashamed to say it there is a lot of people there's a lot of people who claim to be christians who do not have the holy spirit of god they have another spirit it's a deceiving spirit it's a lying spirit it is not the holy spirit and yet they got big churches oh my right god gives the holy spirit to those who obey him so let me tell you something you sit back and you say i want the holy spirit now this this is on a different level here i'm talking to the to the true church for a minute you say you want more of the holy spirit you say you want more are you obeying him let me let me just put it simple why should god speak to you and tell you anything if you're not doing what he's already told you oh boy don't shout me down when i'm preaching good somebody said sent me an email that listens or we were messaging on facebook and they said oh you beat me up last week and i said i said well i said stepping on toes reminds one to wear their shoes a denotable proverb right this is serious stuff here right here's what i'm getting at you're supposed to read your bible right
god said read my my word study my word meditate in the word right it says pray it says don't forsake the assembling of yourselves together means get your butt to church right so here what i'm getting at there's a lot of people that don't obey what's written the simple commands and yet they want to operate in prophecy and tongues and healing and all that it's not wrong to want those things but let's not get the cart before the horse right now here's another thing let's say you are a christian you've been baptized in the holy spirit you you know what it is to be led by the holy spirit you you can hear him speak to you and you know you're being led by the holy spirit sometimes he'll tell you to do something you don't want to do and until you do that you can forget hearing anything else you know i'm saying when i tell faith to do something to go to her room or to pick up her toys we're not discussing anything else until the toys get picked up she's probably listening right now right and if you fuss and don't do it then what's coming next is discipline oh spankings now god's spankings work a little differently he knows how to make you miserable without ever whipping you with a paddle right oh sometimes he lets you you know he could bless you so you're having a financial struggle he could bless you but you're not you hadn't been obeying him with something with maybe with finances and he said nope not blessing you till you correct that not fixing this problem for you until you correct it a lot of people want healing but god's saying until you deal with this issue right here and obey me i'm not gonna heal you i remember the lord told my dad that one time my dad had a heart situation going on serious one right and he was praying he's laying in the hospital bed after having a minor i guess he had a minor heart attack i remember but it was bad and they were like they were concerned that he this was his heart was damaged and he he was going to have this problem and may even not live on and he was sitting there praying and you know my dad had a little problem with his eating habits for years and he was praying asking god to heal him and the lord said i'm not healing you until you correct your eating habits oh and my dad said okay lord i i forgive me i'll i'm gonna correct that you know the lord healed his his heart situation and he never had another issue
with his heart ever again right do you obey what you know to do first i remember one time the lord told me to go speak a word of prophecy to a methodist church years ago that didn't want to hear prophecy right they didn't like us pentecostal believers but the lord told me to go do it and there was one particular sunday god kind of opened the door for me to do it and he had told me to do it and i didn't do it can i just tell you how quickly my spiritual life dried up every bit of anointing and living water evaporated and you know i ran into as in that time period because there was i wasn't going to be able to be back at that church for three weeks so i didn't obey so i had three weeks i had a three week whipping from the lord about it it was that serious he wanted it done right and i remember during that time period reading and i can't remember if it was psalm 66 it's either psalm 66 or psalm 68 but it says the rebellious dwell in the dry land when god says listen folks we don't like to say this but when god says to do something and you don't do it you are rebelling it's that simple and the rebellious dwell in a dry land right you want to be in a spiritual desert just disobey a direct command from god but i'll tell you what'll happen if you will if you ignore it and keep living in that dry land you'll end up falling away from god because you'll get frustrated where are you god you've left me blah blah blah and all he's trying to do is get you to back up go do what you're supposed to do but you get it you make it all this drama that you don't need to make it oh god you've left me no he's just trying to get your attention go do what he told you to do quit the drama right listen if god doesn't chastise his children he said if i don't correct you and i don't discipline you then what i don't i don't love you you're like illegitimate children so we all go through this because listen i don't care the best of us i've done it you've done it well god said to do things and we don't do them right and we suffer
so when we sing these songs set a fire empty me fill me with holy ghost fire guess what just know that's what god wants to do right do you really want it or is it just words you're saying see this morning as we sing those songs i felt like you know what i feel like our church wants that i do i don't feel like we're a bad group of folks here at least not everybody right i think we do want but i think what the lord you know and i i'm just thinking back over the messages that god has given me the last few weeks that i didn't even plan on giving or study out or even you know didn't know that i was going to give until i got in church and i know that the holy spirit is saying look do the things you know to do be disciplined get back to the basics the fundamentals and get strong and then i can do these other things so i do believe god is going to bring revival to our area and that we're going to have a part to play in that do i believe we're all everything and the saviors of our no that's not what i'm saying we will have a part to play in that if we're ready right god's taking the ministry and the message of this church to thousands of people i checked just the dinodale ministries facebook page in the last 28 days over 4200 visits and i'm talking about from saudi arabia the united arab emirates turkey syria egypt israel italy i wonder if that's old francis checking in on us all we've also had visits from the department of defense united states cyber command oh yeah i took screenshots of those so i could prove it right all over the world though all over the united states you know india just hundreds of hits from india australia matter of fact second only to the united states in the number of hits we get on our website all the websites it's
it's australians i love australians here's what's so wild i remember i was sitting in a movie back in around 2001 2002 whenever it came out i can't remember i went took my girls to see kangaroo jack and i'm sitting in there i'm sitting in there and they're playing you know i think it's men at work they land down under and you know i'm sitting there watching in australia i've always wanted to go i had an invitation to preach in australia years ago and i never went and i remember sitting in that movie theater there and the spirit of god came all over me and said about you're going to minister to australia and i thought i assumed i'd be going to australia to preach now i see what that was all about crazy i mean just all kind of australia loved australians led an australian young man david hook to the lord in israel in 1988 wish i could find him see if he's serving the lord now all right but praise god god is using this place and guess what it tells me too by cities valley beulah opalic and auburn hundreds upon hundreds of hits see there's folks there there there's secret fire and grace and dino ministries uh they secret they're afraid to let it be known because you know the pharisees and the sadducees out to tell them just shut up get away from them [Music] but they're hungry people out there so what i'm saying we're going to be faithful and true to the message that god's given us to preach but the message whatever message god has given us to preach must be anointed empowered by the holy spirit that comes from prayer and fasting and obeying and not quenching the holy spirit so when you pray for me and you pray for this church and you pray for the ministry here and you pray for those out there that that god's touching with these these truths it's got to be the holy spirit well if i could ask anything just pray for the holy spirit to fill me you want to pray for pastor dean say pray god fill him with the holy spirit anoint him give him your fire give him your function let him hear the let him know the direction of your wind where you're blowing holy spirit where you're going letting me feel like because i i'm gonna be honest with you i i go through horrible times sometimes i get attacks of depression i get attacks of physical weakness i get spiritual attacks from every side you know i was talking to somebody listens to our podcast in another part of the country and listens to our our church service and they're like boy you're a hated man oh yes i got a i got a whole hate group out there that it's all directed and i mean i feel
it sometimes sometimes it gets so it gets so oppressive and so dark i just want to you know david said it in psalm 55 oh that i had the wings of a dove just fly away just be done with this lord i just i get tired of it sometimes so it's i know listen nothing is done i know it's not pastor dean it's not any of us nothing is accomplished in the kingdom of god unless the anointing fire power unction of the holy spirit is upon it and you have to ask you have to desire you have to hunger and thirst for him to be on something and working through you and working through your church and working through into your community it's the holy spirit so let's not quench him let's not resist him let's not grieve him amen amen let's let's pray hallelujah father in heaven i thank you i thank you for sending your holy spirit to be with us jesus said to his disciples i will not leave you alone i will send my spirit to be with you to teach you and to guide you to be your comforter to be your guide to be your teacher father forgive us for neglecting the holy spirit in our lives forgive us for every time we've quenched or grieved or resisted forgive us lord we are but flesh we are human even those of us with the best of intentions and desires and trying we fall short but we want you lord we want you we want your spirit to to fill us and to flow through us and to anoint and empower what we do and say and sharing the gospel of jesus to people around us in the world and even to our brothers and sisters that are struggling we need the anointing and the gifts of the holy spirit and we just need you lord lord it's not information we've got to have anointed words so lord i pray in the name of jesus you help us cry out and be filled and be anointed by the holy spirit in jesus name amen amen well hallelujah you learned something today i hope it stirs in your hunger to say you know what there's nothing wrong with having a quest for information to learn knowledge nothing wrong with it matter of fact god wants us to do that but that knowledge and that information has to be when we give it out it has to be anointed and empowered and led by the holy spirit
or it will just it'll just bounce off amen so let's pray for that
