You have the keys of hell and death. You are the resurrection and the life. You are the bread of life. There is no other way to forgiveness of sins or salvation but through you. And we are so grateful, Lord, that when you were lifted up, your Holy Spirit drew us, convicted us. And Lord, we said yes to you. We believe you. We choose to repent and follow you.
And then you saved us. You washed us clean. You revived and renewed and raised our dead spirit back to life. You connected us back. We are grateful today for all that you have done and all that you are going to do because you're going to do great and mighty things in these last days. You're going to pour out your spirit on all flesh and you said our sons and daughters would prophesy and our young men would see visions and old men dream dreams. Lord, you're not done. You said many are going to turn to righteousness as they see the judgments, your judgments in the earth. So Lord, we believe that we are going to be part of letting our light shine. We're not going to put it under a bushel, but we're going to let it shine through the world. We pray for your grace and help to do that. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen. Hallelujah. You may be seated this morning. Good to have everybody here. Those watching and listening, welcome you to Fire and Grace Church. Uh we had a an event we had to be at last night for the Moms of Liberty up in uh Huntsville and I think we got home almost 1:00 in the morning and I think I got to bed around two. Uh but it was good. We needed to be there for that and uh that's a good thing to pray for for the Moms of Liberty. Um, a lot of them are Christians and they're fighting against the evil that's trying to come into our libraries and schools and all that stuff to brainwash our kids into evil. Um, but I'm going to just share something with you today. I'm kind of going off of some things that happened this week. You know, as uh as a pastor in the same day, you can get good news and bad news. Uh, you can get thanked and then you can be hated. Uh, it's just amazing. Uh, I had two not very nice emails this week that it's it was just interesting because I'm like, wow, this they they obviously don't know me very well. Um, but I want to share something from the scripture I believe the Lord gave me this morning. So, let's go to Acts chapter 2. I want to read something real quick because we need to get this defined out there and I want to share some testimonies. I was on the phone uh with a friend of mine, Joey, that lives down in South Alabama and uh tell you about our little conversation uh which was it was awesome. Um but if we go to Acts chapter 20, let's go down to verse 17. I've read this many times, but I'm going to read it again. It says, "And from Mitus he sent unto the Ephesus and called the elders of the church. When they were come to him, he said unto them, "You know from the first
day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons, serving the Lord with all humility of mine, and with many tears and temptations or trials which befell me by the lying and weight of the Jews, and how I kept back nothing that was profitable to you, but have showed you and have taught you publicly and from house to house, testifying both to the Jews and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Now, I can actually say I've done this very same thing here in Opaikica, Alabama, Fire and Grace Church. Uh I have taught repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ again and again and again and again. All right? And even today we'll be covering that. Paul goes on to say and let's just drop down to verse because he told them in verse 25 they would see his face no more. He said wherefore I take you to record this day that I am pure from the blood of all men. For I have not shunn to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. And also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after them. Therefore, watch and remember that by the space of three years, I cease not to warn everyone night and day with tears. Now, um I just want you to see where Paul said, "I kept back nothing that was profitable to you." Uh, one of the messages, the emails I got this week was, you know, you're not really preaching the gospel. The gospel is missing in your sermons. And I'm just like, see, there are people out there. And I just went, "This guy obviously doesn't understand." Um, but there are people out there, I guess because they grew up Baptist or something, they think every service is supposed to be a basic salvation message. Okay? But what they don't understand is that the the job of a pastor versus the job of an evangelist. Um, now if you want to hear uh a basic salvation message every single week, there's plenty of Baptist churches all over the land that you can go to. Don't email me about it. All right, but here's the thing. We are supposed to as five-fold ministers give you everything that is profitable to you. And pretty much what people don't understand is that every service is not an evangelistic service. Every
sometimes we're trying to bring back the prodigals. That's a that's another issue we have to deal with sometimes or for the most part as a church and from a pastor or shepherd is the job is to establish the saints in sound doctrine to help you grow. Right? The other part of the pastor's job is to protect you from the wolves by equipping you. Okay? We're not going to be able to intervene in every situation. So, our job is to equip you with the word and sound doctrine so that you can stand up against the wolves in sheep's clothing or just the outright wolves and not be fooled. All right. Now, let's let's go to uh just show you that. But go to Ephesians. I want to read Ephesians chapter 4. We're going somewhere with this today. Got some good testimonies to share with you, though. Ephesians chapter 4. I've read it many times. I probably didn't need to drink a gallon of water today. I don't know why traveling just dehydrates you or something. Ephesians chapter 4 and we're going to start verse 11. And he gave some apostles and some prophets and some evangelists and some pastors and teachers for the perfecting. That word can also mean the maturing of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. Now, has that said anything about evangelism or a basic salvation message every day, every every week? No, he actually starts out with maturing the saints. My job is to make you grow up spiritually. Okay. So, if if I gave you like the Baptists do, and they don't even do this anymore, but they used to. They used to give a salvation message. I mean, just basic salvation every single Sunday. Now, guess what happens? People will get saved. Okay? People will wander in church or God brings them in and they'll get saved. I got saved at North Side Baptist Church right down the road here when I was a kid because an evangelist came in and gave that basic message. I think he actually talked about hell, which the pastor never did and that's what convicted me. Uh put the fear of God in me and that's why I got up and walked down the aisle and was born again. Okay. But that church, if I had stayed there, I would not have
learned anything about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, repentance from sin, living a holy life, can you fall away? Because they would have taught me once saved always saved. They would have taught me the gifts of the Holy Spirit are not for today. So they would have stopped me from maturing. All right. Now, I thank God for what they do correctly and God saved me, touched me there. But then, of course, what happened after that? I get into my teenage years and fall away because I'm not equipped to stand. I'm not equipped to resist the temptations of the flesh. I'm not equipped to recognize the attacks of the devil in my life. I'm certainly not delivered from the demons I had. So guess what? I go as a teenager, I mean full steam ahead into sex, drugs, and rock and roll. And the fact that that didn't end in me dying somewhere and going to hell when I was 15, 16, 17, 18, 19. How many times I was driving drunk? how many times I had a gun pointed at me, how many times I had knives pulled on me, I shouldn't be here talking to you. It's by the grace of God, the prayers of my great aunts and great grandmother, I wouldn't be talking to you right now. But I I thank God what he did there, but it didn't it didn't equip me to stand. And think about this. Think about the Christians that you know out there or the ones that claim to be. I got saved. I got baptized in that church over there first whatever. But you know in their lives they're not living it. And you know in their lives that they try to and can't. Sometimes they can't even get free from basic things. They can't quit drinking. They can't get out of sexual sin. They can't get free from pornography. They have no power in their lives. Why? Because they're still little children in the spirit. They haven't grown up. They haven't matured. They haven't been equipped. So, let me just get this across to everybody. The five-fold ministry is not just here to preach basic salvation message every week. We're we're not we have got to equip the saints, to mature the saints, and to fight against false teaching. Now, if I haven't done that for the last 16 years of this church, it can't be done. Nobody's done it. If I hadn't done it, nobody's doing it. You get what I'm saying? And I have preached the gospel so many times and in so many different ways, even in sermons where I'm trying to equip the saints because I tell you what
it means to be saved. You must believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and that he rose from the dead. And you must repent and live for him and follow him and obey him. Be a disciple of Jesus. That is repentance and faith toward God. That's the gospel. But you know what my definition of the gospel is? Not just basic salvation. My my message is simply this. It's whatever Jesus said and taught. Whatever the apostles said and taught because I don't know what's going to convict somebody. Some people get convicted and come to Jesus because of end time Bible prophecy. Some people have come because of biblical cosmology. Some people have come because I talk about hell and scared the hell out of them. Some people come because they hear a testimony. You get what I'm saying? We don't know what it's going to take for a certain individual. You know what got me got my attention when I was 19? the guy I was working for, one of the things he gave me was a uh back then they were doing back in the 80s they were doing these uh rock and roll um seminars to expose the satanic element within not just rock and roll but secular music. And he gave me a whole series to listen on my Sony Walkman on cassette. I had I was listening to it while I worked because it was like an eight-part series. And what was so wild is that he was talking about all these rock and roll bands that I listen to. And I thought, man, I didn't I never really thought about this. And it convicted me. And the and the Holy Spirit was saying to me because man, I was, you know, I was living rough. And I'm thinking about how bad some of these songs were talking about Satan worshiping the devil. And I mean there and I I just some even some of the lyrics I didn't even realize that were there. And certainly the stuff that was put in there backwards so it would bypass your screening process because I listen to all that stuff. Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, De Leopard, all that stuff. And uh but that convicted me for three weeks. I was under Holy Ghost conviction because the Holy Spirit was telling me, "Your life is no better than these rock stars. The only thing you haven't done is pledge an oath to Satan, signed a a contract." And I was headed that way.
See, what would have happened to me if I'd have gone to Hollywood and been in Die Hard? It wouldn't have taken long for them to get me to a party and I would have been drinking. I would have been doing drugs and they would have gotten me to a party and then they would have taken me to another little meeting and before I knew it I'm going to be in a satanic meeting and watching somebody get killed or sacrificed or something and then they threaten you but then they offer you say look you just just just stick with us and you'll go to the stop and I would have had a decision to make. Now I know deep down I could have never pledged to the devil. So at that time they would have probably tried to kill me but for for saying no or at least things would have started going really bad. And I won't go into all the details how I know for sure that's what was planned for me. And I know it was planned for me because you want to hear how quick I got signed at the Mullen Agency. This is how quick. I opened the door and the lady was sitting about where Faith is. I opened the door and walked in. She goes, "We're signing you right now." That's how quick it was. We had no discussion. There was no said, "We're we're going to be your agent. We're going to get 15%. we're going to get you in movies, TV that. I mean, it was that just boom. It doesn't happen that easy. The devil was worried that that little boy that got born again down there might wake up, come out of it, and wreck him for the next 40 years. And I thank God that he didn't let the devil pull me down because let me tell you that guy that I worked for, David Verusi, he he listens sometimes. I thank God for him every day because he was not ashamed of the gospel. He showed me where no drunkard's going to inherit the kingdom of God. and that the music and the people that I worshiped were my idols were Satanist and that my life was as bad as theirs. And I thank God for him because I learned what from him. Repentance. He was the first person in those seven years of being away from God in my teenage years. He was the first person to tell me the whole truth. And God convicted me and brought me back. And I've been wrecking the devil since I was 19. Wrecking his whole plan.
But I want to tell you right now, that's my job. My job is to get you to the place where you live for Jesus. Because see, Paul told the Galatians, he said, you know, they started slipping back into er and started slipping back into the old covenant or and started turning away from the gospel. And he told them, he said, I travail and birth again until Christ be formed in you. What was he saying? I'm going to have to pray, fast, and agonize over you to get you to become the Christian you're supposed to be. You're starting to slip into error and another gospel. And I'm gonna have to go through this basically the same thing I went through to get you saved. I'm gonna have to go through to get you to grow up. Oh, y'all are quiet. As a candlelight service at the Roman Catholic Church. Oh, let me keep reading this. Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers are for the perfecting and maturing of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying or building of the body of Christ. Till we all, somebody say all. All. Until we all come in the unity of the faith. Are we in unity? No. The church across the world's not in you. So that's going to mean and I don't believe we ever will be until Jesus returns and filters out a bunch of uh people. So that means pretty much apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, five-fold ministry is going to be till the end. And then he says this, till we all come to unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the son of God. What does that mean? So wait a minute. should have the knowledge of the son of God if you're already part of the church, right? If you're already a saint, it's we're working on to mature. What he's saying there, the word knowledge, just a simple definition of it in the Websters means an understanding gained by experience. Meaning, I'm trying to get you to the place where you don't just know about Jesus, but you know Jesus. you have an experience with him or experiences where he reveals himself to you and manifest himself to you. Well, guess what? Those things aren't going to happen if you're not seeking after him and walking after him and putting sin behind you. Somebody say amen or oh me. See, we can't just know. A lot of Christians know a lot of Bible. They know a lot about Jesus, but they don't know him. And they don't know him because they haven't sought him with all their heart.
They don't know him because he's not number one in their lives. Church is just tradition. It's what we do. It's what Southerners do. That's for sure. But you mean we got to actually live the Christian life the way the Bible says to live it? Yeah. Knowledge. Do you know him? And then he says unto a perfect man. And again that word perfect means to be mature, to be spiritually mature, to grow up. He says that we and he says unto the stature of the fullness, the measure of the stature, the fullness of Christ. Meaning we're just we're supposed to get more and more full of Jesus as we go and less of the world and less of us running the show. And then he says that we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the slight of men in cunning craftiness whereby they lie and wait to deceive. So that is the job not just of the pastors but notice it says apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers, the five-fold ministry job, part of it is to keep you from being blown about by every wind of doctrine that comes along. Now, that means that I can't preach your basic salvation message every single time we get together or I could never equip you in all these things. And let me just share this with the testimony. I was talking to Joey and um hopefully they're going to come up and visit, but he was big time involved in my campaign last time when I ran for governor. Um, but I'm on the phone with with him and his wife and his wife's going to join the ministry school this this go around. And um, she was a Christian first and she would be listening to my messages and they would infuriate him. I mean, he would just get mad. He said, "One day she was playing one of your messages. I don't know which one it was." And y'all going to love this. He he went outside cuz he didn't want to hear it. And he washed his 22ft boat. Like he spent an hour out there more washing his entire boat. And he comes in and the message is still going. He said, "You were still on." He said, "I fell on my knees and gave my life to Jesus."
And his wife was telling me how she was thanking me because she said, "You changed my husband's life. You changed our lives, our marriage, everything." Why? Because when you follow what the Lord tells you to do as a as a minister, the Lord can put his anointing on whatever you whatever you're teaching on and convict the heart. Because let me tell you sometimes, it's not necessarily the words we say. It's the Holy Spirit behind the words. It's the anointing that destroys the yoke of the devil in people's lives. Not Not because think about the churches. They say they they talk about the word of God, but there's no anointing. There's no power there. There's no conviction there. And I tell people, I mean, I you know what really irks me is somebody telling me what they think I ought to preach. Who do you think you are? You should say you ought to pray and preach what God tells you to preach. If I went by what people told me to preach, I would be like a rubber ball in a cement room everywhere. We're supposed to be as Christians, especially the five-fold ministry that is to equip the church, we are supposed to be led by the Holy Spirit, not our own mind or reasoning. You understand? That's what Proverbs 3 says, right? Don't lean to your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path. Since I started preaching, I have asked the Lord, "What do you want me to say tomorrow or Sunday or what what what do you want me to preach on?" And sometimes he won't tell me until I'm sitting back there during worship. Sometimes when I even it's I don't even know until I walk up here and start because I, you know, he's not on my time schedule. He does it when he wants, how he wants. But this is what you need to understand. I love what uh Smith Wigglesworth said one time. He he a woman was brought up to him that had cancer in her. you know, huge tumor, dying, almost at the point of death. Had to have two guys up there holding her up. Wigglesworth comes over and just
punches her right in, knocks her down the ground. The two guys, one of them was the doctor, I think, or both of them where they said, "Oh my god, you've killed her." You know, what are you doing? They're freaking out. She's laying on the floor. She gets up. There's a massive tumor laying on the floor. She gets up completely healed. And he pointed at the doctor and the other guy and he said, "I know my business. You do your business. I'll do my business." Like, don't tell me what to do. And and don't go out and punch cancer patients. That's not what I'm talking about here. And that's another thing. Let me share this with you because that's another thing about I'm going to share a testimony here. That's another thing. Smith Wigglesworth lived so close to the Lord that the Lord would tell him to do these things and he had such faith and he had such a walk with Jesus. He wasn't doing it presumptuously. He was doing it as the Lord led him to do it. Okay, I give you this testimony. All right. I Everybody knows a few weeks ago I shared how they discovered in my four there's only four main arteries to your heart. Two 100% blocked two 90% blocked. Did the heart cathization. They found all that. It's all documented. They said you need to have bypass surgery. Heart bypass. Scheduled it for July 9th. My uh the first doctor that did the heart cath said that I'd had not had a heart attack. There was no damage to my heart muscle whatsoever. And uh but when I went to the surgeon and I I mentioned what the doctor other doctor said about I had not had a heart attack. And I'm sorry y'all. I bit my tongue. So I'm having a little bit of issue today. I bit it bad last night, so it's like swollen over here. Um, but the surgeon said basically, he said, "No, I think you did have a heart attack." He said, "In fact, like it's no way you couldn't have." He said, "But the thing puzzling him was that there was still no damage to my heart. There was no sign of a heart attack." All right. But let me just tell you, I believe in healing. I believe in miracles and I've I've seen Jesus do all kinds of things. I've seen all kind of healings and miracles, but I've learned over the years not to be presumptuous. Okay? So, I was praying. You know, it's a scary thing when you find out you could just drop dead at any moment and that you've been walking around like that for a while, right? And I was having chest pain, tightness, pain running in down my arm, up into my neck,
shortness of breath where I couldn't hardly breathe. And uh you know, I was having all the signs that you're supposed to go to the hospital for, you know, if you have that. And I started having that going on uh after what we went to the golf course and then um I went to the doctor. I mean, it was It was at a point where it was getting worse and worse and worse and I I had a bad couple of weeks. Um, but I was praying and I'd ask everybody to pray that I would know God's will whether I should have the surgery or not because I'm I'm like, "Okay, Lord, if you want me to have the surgery, I'll do that and trust you to bring me through it and that I'll recover fine. that I won't die when they stop my heart and do all the crazy stuff they got to do to do bypass surgery. You know, they stop your heart. That's just a trip to me right there. Um, but I said, I'll do that if you want me to do that, but if you want me to not have it and stand in faith and trust you, then I will. But I got to know, I'm not just going to be, you know, reckless with my life or with my family. And it took a couple of weeks of prayer and I I went through some really bad days. There were days that I only got through those days because I took nitroglycerin tablets. And uh I thought, well, it's not looking good, you know. But Nancy and I both felt the Lord was starting to show us to trust him. And then one morning, the Lord woke me up about 3:30 in the morning and I got up to pray. And I prayed for about two hours. And as I prayed through and fought the devil that morning and got everything off of me, because sometimes it takes a while, I felt the Lord tell me that he didn't want me to have the surgery. He wanted me to postpone the surgery and trust him because he's been keeping me alive anyway. And I was going to that day and this is you know that was 3:30 so it's about 5:30 in the morning. I'm like okay I'm going to I'm going to call the surgeon in a little while and just say I'm just going to tell them I'm postponing it. I'm not going to say I'm not doing it but I don't want people freaking out. So postpone it and you know push it back then everybody will forget about it. Um, but but I, you know, and I went on in that morning, but I felt, what I'm saying is I felt the the peace and the strength and the confidence from God that that's what I was supposed to do. And once I know the will of God on something, that's it for me. Okay. So, I'm going to call the surgeon because I don't want everything to get, you know, I didn't want to uh mess their schedule up. Maybe somebody else needed
to get on it because they have a full schedule. So, I planned to call them, you know, that that afternoon or whatever later in the day. And before I could call them, they called me and they said, "We're going to have to postpone your surgery because the surgeon had to be out for like three weeks with some issue." I said, "Oh, okay." But I knew that was the Lord confirming to me what he had told me that morning. Since I have taken a stand to believe him and trust him and to not have the surgery, I have not had another symptom. Yeah. So, I believe the Lord is healing my heart and I'm to trust him. And you know, it actually just feels good because it's just like you just say, "Lord, my life is in your hand and I trust you with it." You know what I mean? It's okay. And I'm ready whenever it is to be. But see, I would never tell anybody presumptuously, "Oh, no, you shouldn't have the surgery. You should believe God." That's sometimes God uses the doctors. I prayed for my Achilles to go back from up here to back down here when I tore it and the Lord didn't do it. I had to have surgery and spent six months with my foot up on the table writing the book that I had disobeyed him about writing. And I remember when I tore it, he said, "Now you have time to write the book." And I learned a lesson. See the see we believe in in healing and miracles but I don't believe in being presumptuous. What do we always counsel people and tell people babe? Pray about it. Right? If you want to know our counseling method in one sentence, pray about it. Right? Pray till you know the will of God for you. You understand? That's what growing up is too in the kingdom of God. Growing up is when you have a relationship with the Lord and you can pray through a matter and he shows you, tells you what to do. In fact, that's Christianity. That's walking with Jesus. You pray and obey. The sons and daughters of God are led by the spirit of God. Guess what? If you're not led by the spirit of God, you might need to check out where you are. You're either not born again or you're lukewarm and following your own understanding and your own plans and your own ways or the worldly ways of doing things. See, God's ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. They are much higher. Psalm 55, I mean, not Psalm, but Isaiah 55.
His way is higher than our ways. His thoughts higher. We have to find his thoughts. And no matter how much we know or how close we are to him, you got to be humble and admit many times that you don't know. You don't know his plan, his thoughts, what he wants. And you got to take the time to find out. And sometimes he doesn't give it to you. I went through what two almost three weeks of struggling with this thing. I mean, to the point where I would have to go lay down and and and take a nitroglycerin pill under my tongue because my heart felt like it was about to come out of my chest. And let me tell you, if there was anything going on wrong, the day we had yesterday, 4 hours to Huntsville, a meeting in the inferno of that restaurant that had no air conditioning there for that whole event for hours and then another four hours home. Let me tell you, when I would get really exhausted, oh, my my chest would hurt. But now, nothing in me wanted to go have my chest cut open, my sternum cracked open. Nobody I didn't want to do that, but Mike did it. And you know what? I felt like Mike was supposed to do it. I felt the whole time like Mike was going to do was going to do that and that God was going to bring him through. It was God's plan for him. Doesn't mean he lacks faith. We don't get to dictate to God how he's going to do anything. We can ask. We can pray. But the people who believe faith is is twisting God's arm and making him do what he what they want, they've they've got a full misconception to that. that they can confess enough scriptures or whatever, you know, they got the formula, the list, like hardcore Christianity. You do this list, you're you're guaranteed guaranteed to be healed. Guaranteed. No, I I I can't guarantee a thing because guess what? You got to seek Jesus. You got to seek his plan. You know, your wife had to go through it, but God brought her out and healed her. Sometimes we need the trial. God knows we need it. I I I don't really, tell you the truth, care to be around anybody hadn't been through something. And let me tell you, a lot of those uh Word of Faith ministers who acted like they never got sick or never had a problem, when they did, they would run to their cabins in the mountains and hide till they got well.
That's called being a liar. Right? Don't shout me down when I'm preaching good now. Y'all got Y'all get quiet. Y'all looking at me strange. Y'all should know by now, right? So, I believe I'm healed and in the process I, you know, my heart, God had already started his own bypass in there, right? So, I'm trusting God. Now, people out there that even my campaign opponents might try to use, oh, he he's got a health problem. No, I don't. I'll probably outlive you. Especially if you took the jibity jab. I'll definitely outlive you. Got to have fun with it sometimes, right? But listen, go to Hebrews. We go to Hebrews chapter 13. Somebody say, "I love Hebrews. I'm going to show you something here you need to see. Somebody say la. All right, let's go down to verse seven. We're going to read a little bit here. He says, ' Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God, whose faith follow considering the end of their conversation or really that word should be behavior. I mean, the old English people understood this to mean behavior, but this means behavior here. All right? So, he's saying, remember them which have have the rule over you. basically who God has put in true five-fold ministry and true authority that has been confirmed by what? The anointing and by revelation. But you should be able to know who's a true five-fold minister if you're a Christian, if you're born again. He says, "Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God." So who have taught you the word in truth whose faith follow considering the end of their behavior. All right. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever. He says, "Be not carried about with divers or and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace, not with meat which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.
We're going to come back to that verse, so hold your spot, but go over a few verses to verse 17. He says this here, and I've preached on this before, but he says, "Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves, for they watch for your souls as they that must give an account that they may do it with joy and not with grief. For that is unprofitable for the pastor, for you." Okay? And some of these people cause me grief. Um, and I know I'm a pastor to more than the than the people that sit in this room. There's a lot of people out there. They call us, they text us, we counsel, we uh answer questions, we teach them on things, we try to help as many people as we possibly can. We We can't get to everything. We live in a different era with the social media. when he says here, "Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines, for it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace and not with meats which have not profited them that have been occupied therein." Can I break this down for you? He said, "It's better that your heart be established with grace and not with meat." What is he talking about here? Meat. meats are deeper things from the word of God. Okay? And a lot of people out there, especially in your Christian truth or community, are always into the deeper things. We got to go to this. We got to talk about, but they still hadn't even repented of sin in their lives. They're still in fornication. They're still in adultery. They're still in uh drunkenness. They're still using drugs. But they're claim they're they are Christian truthers, right? What's what's the next? And actually the word strangest means novel or new. Basically, what's the new thing? Like this whole Tataria little season doctrine. That's a new one. Oh, let's go into that. Let me tell you, all that's fine and dandy. those meats and deeper things. But if they're not profiting your walk, if your walk with Jesus is not real and you're hearing him and you're living for him and you're living a holy life, these meats are not helping you. The deeper things, grace, he says it's better with grace. What is grace? The definition of grace, caris in Greek, it it it means the divine power or influence upon your heart and its reflection in your life. Say this with me. The Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit is the spirit of grace. Spirit of grace.
Grace is God moving upon you and helping you do what you need to do. I would rather have that than any deep revelation. You understand? That's what this verse is talking about. It's better for you to be established with grace, the Holy Spirit, the power of God on you, the anointing on you, than to keep going after every new doctrine and every deep little meat piece of meat you can try to find. I know people say, "Well, oh, I got the basics. I need some meat." That's fine. You better have the basics, though. See, a lot of people talk, but they don't have the they don't have the real deal. See, I don't care. I If God right now started giving me revelation on everything, but I didn't sense his presence and I didn't hear from him. Or I was struggling and living in sin away from him. Do you understand? I don't want meats, just meat after meat after meat. That's not profitable to me if it's not helping me live the right way I need to live. Now granted, some of those things get people excited. You know, people love to talk about the Nephilim, the giants, the seed of Satan, all this stuff. You know, there was a world here before Adam and Eve. There's a lot of things that we can get into that are not salvation issues, right? And that's fine, but that's not the focus. You understand? You got to ask yourself, am I growing? Am I maturing? And what does he say? He gives us, he tells us part of what maturing is. Let me show you. Go back to Hebrews chapter 5. He tells them this starting at verse 11. I love how I believe Paul wrote Hebrews and he was just fed up with them starting to slip back into the Torah Hebrew roots movement of the day. And he's speaking of Jesus about the him coming from the order of Melkisedc. And he says this, "Of whom we have many things to say and hard to be uttered, seeing that ye are dull of hearing or understanding. For when the time ye ought to be teachers, you need that one teach you again, which be the first principles of the oracles of God, and have become such
as have need of milk and not of strong meat. For everyone that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. Let's pause right there. Unskillful. If you don't really know the scriptures, if you're not established in sound doctrine, you're still a babe. If you're being blown about by every wind of doctrine, you're still a child spiritually speaking. And I'm not trying to insult you. We all go through that. We go from the babe stage to the child stage to the young man, young woman stage to the mature believer. But what he says is you guys ought to be teaching. And he then he says we need to get back to the basics. Do you know Jesus? Do you hear from him? And are you doing what he tells you to do? And are you learning the word? Are you getting established in sound doctrine so that you won't be deceived? He says, "You you guys need to get back to the basics." And then he says this, "For everyone that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness, for he is obeyed. But strong meat belongs to those that are of or them that are of full age mature. Even those who by reason of use because they've spent much time in studying these things have their senses that's their spiritual senses exercised to discern both good and evil. See, if you're not discerning the wolves and sheep's clothing, if you're if you're listening to them and following them, you're still a babe. And it's because you're unskillful in the word. If you knew the word, you wouldn't be following that person. If you knew the word, you wouldn't be listening to that person. See, we the the the two that left following that that ministry they're following. They think they're mature, but they're still babies. It didn't take much for us to figure it out or discern it. Not just not just the fact that we, you know, Nancy pulled off many clips we could play. I I could spend I could spend two or three sermons on just hardcore Christianity dealing with their errors. Okay? But what I'm saying is is that children get blown about by every wind of doctrine. They're not established in doctrine. And that's why they go the way they go. You got to get back to the basics. And let me just tell you this, it's it's easy when you're a young believer or younger. And I'm not talking about just physical age. I'm talking about just new in the faith or new walking with the Lord. It's it's it's real easy to fall into pride when God does something
through you. You hear from him, you cast out a demon, you see a miracle or a healing, and all of a sudden you think you're an expert. That doesn't make you an expert. Remember, Jesus rejoiced over the babes, he said, that had gone out and obeyed him and cast out demons. And they came back fired up about it. And Jesus was fired up with them. That's great. That's awesome. But he said, "You're babes." He still called them babes. Why? Because they weren't skillful in the word yet. They weren't they weren't established in their their doctrinal understanding so that they wouldn't get deceived out there. And I listen, you go out and cast a demon out of somebody and help somebody, I rejoice with you. Hey, that's great. But don't start then trying to correct me about something that you don't know what you're talking about. Been saved five years. I've been walking with the Lord plus 38 count when if you count when I was younger when I first got saved. So it it meant and see another thing about humility. Humility is real simple. Humility is not thinking more of yourself than you ought to. That's where we get in trouble. We start thinking you're all that and a bag of chips and you just one little crumb on the ground. I mean I know it's witchcraft. Uh, I was praying. They saw animals killed, sacrificed, mutilated. They saw babies killed. They 1:12:581 hour, 12 minutes, 58 secondsum they were drugged. and of course sexually molested in those meetings 1:13:041 hour, 13 minutes, 4 secondsby their father, by other members of the satanic group. And when the littlest one 1:13:121 hour, 13 minutes, 12 secondsbrought out what was going on because she was the bold one, they took them, and this was in Montgomery, they took them to the doctor and checked them under a thing called a woods lamp. 1:13:241 hour, 13 minutes, 24 secondsWell, what a woods lamp shows is if you have any injection sites in your body. 1:13:301 hour, 13 minutes, 30 secondsAnd they found behind their knees on the back of their legs 1:13:381 hour, 13 minutes, 38 secondsthey found they lit up like a Christmas tree. And the Lord told me when I was in the heat of it years ago, he said, "You have to go through this, son. So, you'll be able to help other 1:15:001 hour, 15 minutespeople, but you want to grow up and deal." You have the authority to deal with it in Jesus name.
