Okay, we want to welcome everyone tonight you're listening to prophecy quick I'm your host pastor Dean Odo along with my co-host pastor Kevin Wilkinson We've set things up a little differently tonight because we wanted to get a better view and so the scriptures can be put up for Facebook live and also for YouTube that we will be a YouTube video that we'll be putting up for this But again, we welcome everyone tonight whether you're watching and listening on Facebook live Or you're listening on blog talk radio or mix l r Dot-com we welcome you Tonight we're going to get into the subject. This is really kind of part two a few weeks back We did a show called the he breaks roots cult versus the blood of Jesus and Really what we did in that show we talked about the extremes of the he breaks roots Torah observant group, but we just went Scripture, you know Verse by verse through the book of Galatians, which they I've come to discover that they hate with a holy passion almost They wouldn't say that but they just despise the book of Galatians because of course it debunks their entire belief system, but tonight it's kind of part two of that because I've been Getting more and more questions and good questions and some people are very very kind and very nice and very Christ like and the way they approach this and ask questions and And get into it and others are very very rude and mean when it comes to this He breaks roots movement and the Torah observant movement, whatever you want to call them But anyway, I've called tonight the Ephraim awakening or apostasy Torah observance versus the law of Christ and we're going to find out the difference now the reason I've named it this is because there are leaders within this group out there that are Torah observant and Christians that are saying you basically have to go back and keep the law of Moses if you want to be really right with God And not be lawless and be an antinom. We'll get into that in a minute what that means, but They claim that this is an awakening that this Movement for people to go back and to keep the law of Moses to keep the Sabbath to keep the feast days to keep The dietary laws to do their best as they say to keep as many of the six hundred and thirteen laws of the Old Covenant as they can They Anyway, they say that this is an awakening or a revival But really I'm telling you according to scripture and we didn't cover this last time according to the book of Galatians that this is definitely a Falling away from grace now. I want to make this very clear at the outset anybody who knows me Knows that I am NOT part of the Joseph Prince Baptist theology once saved always saved unconditional eternal security what many call
Think dr. Michael L. Brown calls the hyper grace movement I don't believe that you can accept Jesus that you're eternally secure once you get saved you're eternally secure No matter how you live your life So I know I don't believe that so I'm not a total You know licentious libertarian here, but I'm also Not going to say that you have to keep the law of Moses to be really right with God That's where we get into into danger. So And really I'm discovering that this Deception even though it may start out for many with good intentions. It is leading into It's leading people according to scripture, of course back under the curse and When you leave people back under the curse, then you open the door for all kinds of demonic activity and deception And that's why I stated in the description of the show tonight That I know that this movement of Torah observance Hebraic roots, whatever you want to call it. I know that it came out of a legitimate desire to better understand Hebraic roots a Jewish Culture, you know the roots of both the Old Testament the New Testament and and who wrote it the the Jewish People who wrote it the Hebrews that wrote the Bible That God used to write the scriptures and to understand their culture better understand where they're coming from and all of that is fine But and of course i've shared with with others that i'm not new to this I'm not outside of this back in the late 1980s and the early 1990s I attended a messianic Jewish congregation in Birmingham, Alabama on a regular basis Almost every Friday night. I went up to participate in their Shabbat service and enjoyed it immensely. We had great worship good teaching I had a good friend of mine who was training and mentoring under people like Joseph good and That's the other guy. Dr. Ben albert of chosen people ministries And and of course my friend and I we we were around each other for for many years and Had no problem with him uh Delving into and studying this and I studied it a lot with him And back in those days and as I stated before back in those days Many people were getting interested in in hebraic roots and understanding More of the jewish history and culture and things of that nature More to enhance their understanding of the bible to enhance their understanding of both the old covenant and the new covenant And jesus and the apostles but what's happened now is That there's been many who now have stepped further. They've stepped over the line And now it is you have to do these things you have to be
torah observant To be right with god to have righteousness and if you don't you don't really love god You're lawless. You're an antinom. And and there are they are even saying that if you don't keep the law of moses Uh, the sabbaths the feasts the dietary laws the things, you know The things that they list if you don't keep these things then you may not make it to heaven When you know and and i'm going to prove to you and some of you listening you may say well, um, you know That's not i mean i'm into this he breaks roots and in torah observance, but that i'm not saying that well again be Clear about what i'm saying. I'm not saying that everybody has that's into this movement or into these practices I'm not saying they've stepped over the line. I'm not saying you've gone too far I'm not saying even that everyone is doing this is seeking their righteousness in keeping the law But there are some some are and some are getting I and listen I have seen This this is why i'm addressing this because I have seen the extremes Going mainstream. Let's just put it that way Um, and sorry, we're having a little bit of sound problem. I probably should use the other mic, but uh We'll try to keep using this one Anyway, let's let's get into it tonight because um, i've got 14 pages of notes here So we're going to try to cover it kevin's going to try to Put as many of the scriptures up as we possibly can so those watching on facebook live and those who Will be watching the video will be able to see Um the scriptures and understand where we're coming from Uh, but first and foremost, we got it We got to answer the question here and we got to ask the question and then answer it rather is torah observance Requirement for born again christians Um now i'm going to back up here to second timothy, uh 215. Let's put that up, but second timothy 215 This came to me as i've been looking at this again over the last several months And let me just say this just didn't start with A popular leader who's on facebook that I won't mention at this moment But this started with a person that began to comment on my wife's facebook page and begin to say some things that were very troubling I mean this he breaks roots torah observant person told my wife that because she said jesus instead of yeshua That she was worshiping a false god and that's what I began to say. Okay Where is this kooky crazy stuff coming from? um And so then I began to dig into it more and I actually could not believe that it says widespread And and i'm talking about the extremes i'm talking about the stepping over the line like the kookyness the craziness With this stuff. I couldn't believe that it's How mainstream it's going of course they tout this as a move of god, but i'm telling you it's part of The falling away. It's part of the great deception Now the bible tells us this in second timothy
215 He says to the young pastor study to show thyself approved unto god A workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing The word of truth I'm going to read that again study To show thyself approved unto god a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing The word of truth And when I was looking at this the other day what just jumped out at me this this passage jumped out at me and the lord Just really laid this on my heart and it's true is that one of the very first steps? To rightly dividing the scriptures. We're talking about, you know, basic fundamental truth is Understanding or dividing and making the difference between the old testament or the old covenant and the new covenant I mean, this is really kind of elementary stuff But then I thought about what god said in the book of hebrews to the hebrews Was he was talking to people who were born again christians, but they were jewish and they were battling this thing of going back to Keeping the law like circumcision and in sacrifices blood sacrifices and the feast and the levitical priesthood and all this stuff And and he had to tell them, you know, he told them in chapter 5 he goes, you know You need to be taught again the basic principles Of christ and then he goes into the foundational doctrines of christ And and he was telling me the whole purpose of the book of hebrews was tell these hebrew christians You don't have to keep The old covenant laws and rituals to be saved It's through jesus and jesus alone and we have a better covenant with better promises now and that indeed The law has been changed and there is an old covenant law and there is a new covenant law And there is a difference and and folks if you can't rightly divide that right there if you're a teacher A preacher a pastor a minister or even just you know What we call a lay christian with whatever that means and you can't divide there's a difference between Old testament and new testament and understand what they are Um, then you're in you're in serious trouble. You're headed for You're headed for deep dark deception Um, now I want to give the the definition. It's interesting here from second timothy Uh 215 when the phrase is he's rightly dividing which is very interesting because you wouldn't think of okay We have to divide things that almost sounds negative But the word of god is done in such a way It's it's like a puzzle and we have to put it together and we have to understand Again, what things were for this covenant and what things are for this covenant? What was brought over from the old covenant to the new covenant that's very important Um, but the the phrase and the strongs in the greek and the original greek rightly dividing
I'm, not even going to try to pronounce this word. I guess well, I guess I should it's or or thotoma I guess that's how you say it mata oo or whatever And it means here it says to make a straight cut to dissect Expound correctly the divine message Now that's pretty important there. We must make a straight cut We must rightly dissect and expound the divine message of the bible and number one on that list is Old testament new testament What are the differences? What what are we required now as new testament new covenant born again? Christians following jesus christ what is required of us and this is really the big question Because you got the group over here saying you got to keep the savants You got to keep the fish you got to keep the dietary laws You got to keep all these old testament laws, then you have scriptures and galatians and colossians in acts 15 a lot We're going to get into that says no Gentiles do not have to do these things born again christians do not have to these are not a requirement anymore These are not upon us to have to do to obtain Right standing with god Um, and and this is vitally important Now this this movement i'm going to tell you it's turning into Occultic and I want to say this I mean cultic and To the point it's becoming total heresy Because this is what paul warned i'm going to give this verse again galatians 5 4 But this is what the apostle paul warned In galatians and the book of galatians the entire book is about this issue of not Going back to the law to to get your righteousness, but looking to jesus christ and his shed blood Alone and paul wrote this galatians 5 4. He says christ has become No effect unto you Whosoever of you are justified by the law you are fallen from grace So I can't even think of any stronger words That could be spoken to a christian. He said maybe you're going to hell Except to say that christ our savior our lord our redeemer The one who shed his blood on the cross and rose from the dead that paid the price so we could Be righteous and be forgiven and be cleansed and be saved and be ready to go to heaven He did all that to say that christ has become no effect no effect to you if You seek to be justified or made righteous by the deeds of the law The moment you start to think the moment you start to believe in your heart That I have to keep the sabbath the feast These different requirements of the others to be righteous Circumcision whatever you name it new moons
The moment you begin to say that's where I find my righteousness Now you might grant it you might say oh, no, but but I find my righteousness in jesus But it in inside if you're believing and you're thinking That no, I have to do these things Sabbath feast things that's what's going to make me really right with god then what happens is christ, jesus becomes No effect to you And listen if jesus is no effect to you in your life You can say yeshua a million times You can say yeshua hamashi a million times But if you're seeking righteousness by torah observance Then christ has become No Effect to you And you are in a very dangerous dangerous place I'm going to run through a few more scriptures here. Just go galatians 4 21. Let's look at this Paul said tell me You that desire to be under the law. Do you not hear the law? Cursed be he and here's this is the law deuteronomy 27 26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all The works of the law to do them And all the people shall say amen deuteronomy 27 26 Cursed Is everyone that's what the law so paul said hear the law and then he goes on To say and this is galatians 3 10 and 11 For as many as are of the works of the law and he's talking to christians here For many as of are the works of the law are under the curse for it is written cursed is everyone That continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of god It is evident for the just shall live by faith And he gives the scripture from the book of habakkuk Now he goes on galatians 2 and it's like kind of like in this one. I'm going to work a little bit backwards here We went through galatians 1 through 5 last time We're going to touch on 6 here But this is how serious this is galatians 2 14 through 16 Paul said but when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel I said unto peter before them all if thou being a jew Livest after the manner of the gentiles and not as do the jews why compel us thou the gentiles to live as do the jews We who are jews by nature and not sinners of the gentiles knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law But by the faith of jesus christ even we have believed in jesus christ That we might be justified by the faith of christ and not By the works of the law for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified crystal clear this is why they hate the book of galatians because it is crystal clear and then we back up to
galatians 1 And we see if you you go through the entire book and you see the context of what paul was saying Was a perversion of the gospel of jesus christ when you try to say i've got to keep The sabbath the feast the new moons the whatever I've got to do that to be really right with god Paul said the people who are pushing this teaching you this Trying to trying to draw you into this trying to compel you into this to to live as do the jews He speaks to the galatians in chapter one and this is galatians 1 6 through 7. He says i'm marvel That you are so soon removed From him that called you into the grace of christ unto another gospel He calls this torah observance as a requirement to be righteous another gospel He says which is not another but there are some There be some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of christ I mean again context context context. So say pastor ding why are you even wasting time on this somebody somebody accused me of Of just getting into controversy. No, this this is to the core Of the new testament gospel of jesus christ The gospel that the apostles preached the gospel that the apostle paul laid out for us This is the core of it. Where do we find our righteousness now again? I'm going to show you in a minute It doesn't mean we can live immoral Totally lawless. There is an old testament law. There was a new testament law We must obey the new testament law the law of christ. I'll get into that in a minute but This right here is so serious and Uh, you know the apostle paul under the inspiration of the holy spirit he he called this this this What we'll call this torah observance as a requirement to not be lawless another gospel and a perversion of the gospel of christ and How much stronger can you get? Christ has become no effecting you People are troubling you pushing these ideas It's another gospel. It's a perversion of the gospel of christ In fact, you know, I I didn't ever I really didn't think I have to be honest 30 years as a as a minister as a pastor Traveled as an evangelist traveled overseas preached in Africa the middle east I never thought that this would be an issue in the end time That this would be the problem I always knew that the hyper grace message once they've always saved no matter how you live the extreme You know the perverted grace message Would be a problem. It's always been a problem, you know, especially since the reformation. It's been a problem
Calvin john calvin It's been an issue My first book was entitled grace abuse one of the greatest hindrances to genuine revival But even within that book that I that I go through and thoroughly say a christian cannot live in sin in a more immorality the sins listed in the new testament as sins unto death I go through that. You can't practice those habitually. I never once in that book Advocated you must go back and keep the old covenant law See again, i'm trying to make this as clear as I can There's two sides of the ditch here there's The grace ditch over here where you're like i'm once saved always say no matter what And then there's the ditch over here that says no, I have to in in Addition to having faith in jesus. I have to keep The rituals and the practices of the law of moses to be righteous those are The two ditches that are going to get that are getting people in a whole mess of trouble and and what's sad is both Both of these ditches that are people, you know gazillions of people are in they don't understand they're blinded to the fact that They're deceived that they're lost. They think they're right. They they've got their idea of you know The the nuts over here have their idea of what you know Grace covers everything and I can do what I want and then you got the people over here They think I got to keep as many of the old testament laws and rituals as I possibly can to be right with god and and Those two are are are demonic their deception They're destructive Now what's so interesting is? These I know that these teachers and zealots Of this toro movement they constantly try to diminish The writings of paul in the new testament and you know, he destroys because he destroys the argument That we must keep the law of moses to be right with god Um now here's what's bad and this is why i'm addressing this is that some in this movement even go so far as to label the apostle paul a false teacher And the new testament as corrupted and unreliable I mean, this is an example of how deep this error can take a person I might let you heard one god tell me on on my video that I did about this That the new testament was poisoned Now this is a person claiming to be a born again christian in the hebraic roots movement The toro observant telling me the new testament is poison that paul is a false teacher That we have to basically throw out most of the new testament Now i'm I'm blown away. But again once you move under the curse once christ becomes of no effect to you You're open to all kinds of stuff Now this they say now think about this this they say about the new testament
even though The new testament has more manuscript evidence and i'm talking about ancient manuscript evidence historical references from first and second and third century christians and even Non-christian historians it has more manuscript evidence than any 10 books in antiquity 25,000 plus manuscript copies of the new testament homer's alien has like 600 and something caesar's gallic wars that we count as Legitimate historical fact has 10 manuscript And yet the new testament has 25,000 plus historians of the day like josephus and tacitas the roman and and josephus the jew Who confirmed these events as real and then we have the manuscripts going all the way back to the first century You know during the time of the apostles And you've got these people you know The new testament we can't trust the new line because it it goes against your precious little torah over here The law of moses it it oh the new testament actually changed some things I mean, I hope some of you are glad some of you out there that are watching me right now Listen to me right now and you're you're getting ill because you're torah observers Um, i'm just gonna ask you when you're gonna start stoning your rebellious children start stoning homosexuals When are you gonna start? Practicing the law Because if you don't practice i'm just going to say this if you don't practice all 613 of them Then the bottle says you're guilty of breaking them So you're just as lawless as you try to accuse everyone else of being and then on top of it You know if you if If you don't keep them if you know, if you don't do all you know, some of them some of them Say well, we just do the best we can well, guess what that's picking and choosing which is the same thing You accuse people who don't Tor you just pick and choose and from the bottle what you want. So it's amazing that what they accuse Non torah observers, I'm gonna say free christians Not slaves to the law what they accuse us of They're doing themselves which is Mind-blowing in itself But I mean come on folks the new testament now this now listen If you think and i'm just going to say this if you think that they're denying parts of the Or parts are all of the new testament is unheard of but liable was not uh You know if you thought that was enough, you know, if you thought that's just terrible they they're taking it even further Because many of these people that are getting into this now Are denying the biblical doctrines of the trinity and the deity of jesus christ as god who came in the flesh
And this is not something i'm making up. I have witnessed this in numerous facebook discussions and comments Many of which that I took screenshots of so I would have The evidence and i'm going to give you right here a few quotes direct quotes from torah observant christians hebraic roots christians in a discussion on facebook And and I didn't even take I just took a handful I could have taken and I did take pictures of many many more, but this is just to give you An idea These are direct quotes from torah christians. Let me read this the new testament is poison. That's one The new testament is a fraud They said that's another Claiming jesus, of course, they say yeshua They said claiming jesus is god in the flesh is a violation of the first commandment Meaning you shall have no other gods before me They're saying that if you say jesus christ is god in the flesh as the new testament does You are violating the first commandment. So they're clearly saying that jesus christ is not god in the flesh Though both the old testament and the new testament present that clearly in numerous places Um, that's one thing So they say the new testament is poison The new testament is a fraud claiming jesus Is god in the flesh as a violation of the first commandment another said yeshua wasn't deity Another said the church has made jesus an idol The church has made jesus an idol yes Um, and another said mockingly. Oh, you know, it's all about the cross as they went on to mock further Um Another one said christians idolized messiah in a way. He never intended The doctrine of the trinity is false And the final one directly from I'm gonna say it mr. Rob skeeb himself Who's one of the leaders of this? Movement out there He said what if I told you yeshua and then he puts in parentheses or jesus if you prefer Is not the end goal What if I told you? Jesus is not the end goal. I'm just blown away But think about this This makes a whole lot of sense and you can put up the revelation 2 9 here for this Apostasy and i'm just going to call it that this falling away from truth from scripture That uh, you've got to be torah observant. You got to keep the law and where these people are going with this stuff Denying the trinity denying the deity of jesus Saying that jesus the church has made jesus an idol
I don't even know What to say about saying jesus is not the end goal I'm gonna tell you what he may not be your end goal, but he's mine He's the only one I want to be with he's the only one I want to see And yes, I believe father son and holy ghost. I believe the three are one i'm telling you. I don't care Jesus is the one Who died on that cross he is the fullness? And this is this is this is what I love, you know, it's it's plain in colossians, too He is the fullness jesus christ the fullness of the godhead bodily You look that up you look up godhead and it means complete god completely god not part of god not a god Not a son of god completely the fullness of the godhead bodily That's who jesus is or yeshua if you prefer That's who he is And if you deny that i'm gonna tell you right now if you deny who he is in the flesh That is the spirit of antichrist. It is the spirit of antichrist. It's the same demon spirit That works in islam that denies his deity Who he is in the flesh it denies? Uh the mormons the joe of witnesses. This is why I call it a cult. You say i'm being mean but if your leaders Are saying these things and tolerating this kind of heresy this kind of false teaching This kind of blasphemy if you're teaching that And allowing that permitting that Then you are a cult you're deceived and this verse really I'll tell you what i've read the bible for over 30 years And i've read this verse many many times, but now it has an entirely New application in my life as I see what's happening Jesus spoke to a gentile church mind you in revelation 2 9 He's speaking to the church of smirner there. And what does he say? He says I know the blasphemy Of them which say they are jews Now here's a bunch of gentiles running around saying they're jews And he says I know the blasphemy of them that say they are jews and are not but are of the synagogue of satan And i'm going to make it very clear if you're running around here a jew want to be You're trying to wear the tallit you're trying to wear the yamakas You got the mazuzas and and you're you're doing everything you can to be a jew. That's your business. That's fine That's what you want to do But the moment you start saying stuff like we've got to keep the law of moses to be righteous When you start saying the the trinity is not a biblical doctrine. Oh that came from roman catholicism No, it was a biblical doctrine long before roman catholicism came around And when you start saying stuff like that when you start saying that jesus christ the messiah the savior is not deity
When isaiah 9 6 makes that clear When the new testament makes that very clear When you start saying these things then you are blaspheming The lord jesus christ and you're denying who he is in the flesh and you are truly the synagogue of satan You are no different And you know what frankly, I don't care if I lose people from church facebook youtube Subscribers, I don't care. This is the truth of the word of god. And if you don't like it Too bad If you're in this and this is what you're starting to believe in your heart and starting to say with your mouth You better fall on your face and you better repent and you better come back to jesus as god in the flesh And you better start respecting him and not blaspheming him Uh, or you're gonna find yourself saying ah, yes, you are and he's gonna go. I don't know you I don't know you you're a blasphemer You denied who I was in the flesh You're of the synagogue satan get out of here now that I can say with authority Because that's what the bible says now here. Let's let's let's jump to this part And I hope everybody's still with me um Again, I know we're going to make people mad But you know what if it comes down to me making people mad for saying that jesus christ the blood of jesus christ is enough to make us righteous If that's going to be What makes you mad? Then bye. Bye go to hell. Go do what you want to do if you want to go to hell And you're going to paddle your canoe there with your tallit and your yamaka's and your mezuzas and your And your menorahs and your holla bread and your shabbat services and your you know, whatever Just paddle that canoe on as you blaspheme It's time to wake up Now these deceivers i'm gonna tell you that are pushing this They're very good They're very good at avoiding The passages in the bible that debunk Their law keeping for righteousness i'll call it Um, but what troubles me is that some of them are very very good at speaking out of both sides of their mouth For instance, give you an example here and i've heard this and I could I could play it for you I almost thought about getting the sound clip, but i'm not going to go that far tonight But I have heard them say some of the teachers of this hebraic roots torah observant movement Say this they'll say Oh, hey, hey, we don't believe you are saved by keeping torah keeping the law of moses We don't believe you get saved that way We believe you are saved through faith in yeshua They'll say that
But then later on if you keep listening or if you watch another video or listen to another teaching or Whatever you'll hear them say um Well, if you don't keep the torah, you are a lawless Antinominate, I mean you you're lawless Who will hear jesus say depart from me you lawless when I never knew you on the day of judgment And i've heard this I've heard this from some of the leaders of these different movements So what they're doing is they're talking out of both sides of their mouth because they know that they're still trying to clean They're still trying to get people into their movement by saying no. No, we we we still believe in in in faith in jesus alone for salvation, but Hey, if you don't come over here with us And keep Passover And trumpets and tabernacles You don't come over here and keep the feast and you don't come over here and keep the law of moses with us If you don't come over here, you know, stop eating pork stop eating the bacon If you don't come over here And and join us then you know what you're you're lawless. You don't keep the sabbath. You're lawless now when they start telling Christians that are not very knowledgeable of the bible or young christians They start telling them these things they're playing on these especially new christians and christians that have a sincere desire to obey god and to live for god They're playing on that and and and so these christians who don't understand how to rightly divide the word particularly new covenant no covenant That's they're playing on that and pulling them into the movement and they're using a little bit of truth with a lie and It's really it's really disturbing to watch. It's really Terribly disturbing to watch because i'm seeing people really Um, and and and because of this people get turned off You know, I had a pretty listen, I had I had this happen the other day This is the first time I told my wife first time in 30 years of being a minister Most of that being the pastor of a church. I'm a church planner. So I start churches so And of course, I have been a youth pastor and a singles minister in big and small churches So i've done a little bit of everything in the ministry But this is the first time in 30 years. I had a a young man who watched one of our videos On facebook, I believe one of my sermons one of them is he loved it. I could tell he loved the message And he even contacted me. He said, you know, I really need I really need a church I really need to start going to a church. He goes when's your next service? And at that point I said well the next church the church service is sunday at 10 30 and and this was his question to me Why sundays? And I knew exactly where this was going Why sundays and I was like I said because i'm not under the law
That's why And then I said well, I said if you want a more detailed explanation Then I gave him the two-hour teaching that we did a few weeks ago on this broadcast I didn't hear back from him. I don't know if he received it or he didn't receive it, but really That's going to determine How you pick a church or a pastor? How you how you how you're going to flow and operate in the body of christie? I see this it is dividing people and it is keeping Sincere people who are getting bound up in this law keeping business this torah Law of moses keeping business. It's keeping them away from from other believers that they need in their lives And i'm telling you this kind of division over the law if that's what you're doing You're going to pay dearly You're going to pay dearly dearly On judgment day. I hate to say you you cannot make these little ones stumble And the bible talks about putting a yoke of bondage If you if you put people in this you're putting a yoke of bondage on it Just what it says um I know I need to move on here, but um I hope everybody's still with me. This is a little different tonight. I mean, I I have 14 pages of notes I don't even know if i'm gonna be able to get through this All of this tonight But that's why we set this up so you can see the scriptures. Hopefully we can um But this is just disturbing and another point, you know, they play on of course and I And and trust me. I understand there's a lot of problems within traditional churches uh When when I say tradition i'm talking about traditional denominational churches baptist method is presbyterian. Whatever you want to say I know there's a lot of problems You know that I I have a problem with the churches that want to celebrate halloween and easter and santa claus I understand that I got a problem with that. I don't believe we should be doing it I've got problems with with churches that have free masons as elders and deacons and That won't deal with sin in the camp and all of these things I know there are problems within a lot of traditional churches, but that's still not a reason To find you another error and I think a lot of people are fleeing from problems. They've had In traditional churches, even though a lot of those traditional churches are correct in looking to jesus and the cross for righteousness And the cleansing blood of jesus and and that we don't have to keep the law of moses They're right about that, but they're wrong about a lot of other stuff. So a lot of people are fleeing that And they're and they're running into this Hebraic roots movement this torah observant movement And folks, it's just it's dead. It's the letter killeth the letter of the law kills and It's killing
Relationships, it's hurting the body of christ Um, i'm just praying that more and more churches and pastors are going to be Taking a stand and showing there's a balance We don't have to be the extreme In the law and we don't have to be the extreme in hyper grace either um But anyway, that's just that that's kind of the motivation because I know listen. I know a lot of you listening to me Um, and and many that will hear and watch this message Um, I know a lot of you are sincere people. You just want to do the right thing You just want to obey god you want to love god you want to do whatever is necessary? It's so very admirable so wonderful um Don't let these people take advantage of you Don't let these people deceive you um I had a discussion with a guy that came on my youtube channel and he was very very christ-like very polite asking questions about this and um You know what's amazing is is he went back and I said If you want to know where I stand on this because that's where I stood on the savage keeping and all that I said I said it's too much to type here in in youtube. So go listen to the Two-hour teaching. I said it's not complete It's not going to answer every single question you ask me But I said but it's at least a good start and you know what I was blessed by here's a guy That's getting into this. I'll tell you through that one was a guy or woman. I'm assuming it was a guy Well, here's a guy getting into this and you know sincerely seeking what what do I need to do? How do I need to live as a new testament christian? and asking honest questions And then you say here look I I did a teaching through the entire book of Galatians Go listen to that and and then you'll know where I stand and maybe we can talk further What's beautiful is he went he actually did it. Nobody a lot of people will never do that Especially if they're already leaning to the other side, they'll never look again And and try to find balance So I was amazed he went and listened to the whole thing and he said That it caused him to spend the entire weekend studying his bible and re Evaluating this and he actually said, you know, I agree with you on a lot of these points And he came back to the question though. I he said I don't believe we have to keep all these things either But what about the Sabbath day? It's in the 10 commandments. I said well I didn't really address that a whole lot in the other but I will address it But that's the way to handle it. I just love people that are you know They they question and they're open and they you know, if you really want to know where someone stands you can't just come in and start calling them an idiot and You know you people would come on my youtube channel after I did the first he break roots thing They would come on you're an idiot. You have no clue. You need to read your bible. Come on, dude Been reading the bible for 30 plus years Don't that's just an insult don't say you're an idiot. I've been saved 30 years
Some of these people have been saved five years and they call me an idiot I'm just like man. You don't even know what you're doing. You come at me like that More than likely i'm just going to cut you off because you're a fool You're just you're and you're not christ like and the law is making you mean Like the Pharisees making you mean like Kevin said before we started he said yes Some of these people are getting downright Mean I said, yeah I said, you know When their little bubble gets popped by anything It's attack attack attack instead of no, let me look at both sides of this. Let me let me reevaluate Maybe maybe I am wrong. You know, that's what I love. Dr. Michael Brown Jewish man born again christian. He agreed. He will agree with me on all this a hundred percent phd new york university you know expert in mideaster languages But You know, he he would totally he would totally and completely agree That we don't have to keep the law of moses And one of the things I learned from him and and he and I don't always agree on everything But one of the things I learned from him he said years ago He said when you when you are criticized when you are Attacked about something you've taught or preached or whatever or you believe The first thing you ought to ask yourself Is the critic right? Is there a possibility? I'm wrong that i'm not seeing the whole picture that i'm just I have tunnel vision On this one thing that I haven't considered the whole thing and that's why I like these people these young young guys You want to you want to come attack me? Look I was some of you some of you out there I was going to messianic congregations and Delving into this before you were born So don't come at me with you're an idiot read your bible I am i'm not about to play that game with you Now you're going to be a shipwrecked soul out there. Just go on with your with your bad self and see what happens Because it's not going to end well that pride and that attitude is not going to end well um But let's look at this. Let's go back We're going to go now to and we're just going to keep rolling. I'm going to keep rolling tonight I don't even think we're going to take a break. I'm just going to keep rolling with it But let's go back to the question. Must christians keep the law of moses are christians required by god to keep the sabbath the seventh day every week saturday the sabbath The feasts the new moons other laws and rituals of the old testament um You know, this is not a new question and that's what we need to understand. This is not a new question It was settled not just by The epistles and the teachings of the apostle paul You gotta back up to the book of acts you paul haters You need to listen you need to back up to the book of acts and we need to read
how all of the apostles and a council of elders Settled this decision For the church for the new testament church in the first century and if you can't receive that You are hopeless. You are just stubborn and hopeless Because the question's already been asked and let's let's just read it. This is Acts 15 we're going to start at verse one read here and certain men Which came down from judia taught the brother and said except she be circumcised after the manner of moses You cannot be saved Now let's just stop right there These certain men came down to judia and taught the brother and they taught christians born again christians people were already saved Already filled with the holy spirit already living a christian life And these guys come down. So no, no, no, no, wait a minute. You're not complete. You don't have enough You've got to make sure you got to go back and make sure you're circumcised according to the law You're going to be circumcised to be saved or you cannot be saved Now folks you say well these hebraic roots and these torah observers would say oh, but we don't say that We don't say that. Yes, you do the moment you call somebody lawless in an Antinominant the moment that they say we don't have to keep the the laws and rituals of the old testament You're saying that you cannot be saved unless you do the law of moses You're doing the exact same thing. These guys were doing here in acts chapter 15 To the church to the brethren And he continues verse two. He says when therefore paul and barnabas Had no small dissension and disputation With them They determined that paul and barnabas and certain other of them should go up to jerusalem unto the apostles And unto the elders about this question And being brought on their way by the church They passed through phonies and samaria declaring the conversion of the gentiles and they caused great joy unto all the brethren And when they were come to jerusalem They were received of the church and of the apostles and the elders and they declared all things that god had done with them But there arose up certain of the sect of the pharisees Oh, there's a sect always Among the brethren At jerusalem there rose up a certain Uh of the sect of the pharisees which believed saying that it was needful To circumcise them speaking of the gentiles and to command them to keep the law of moses So it's not enough. Jesus is not enough even though you've already been saved gentiles corneas his household even though The gospel through had gone through peter to the corneas his household and spread Through to the gentiles and then paul had been sent out paul and barnabas and then paul and silas had been sent out and had already led You know Hundreds and thousands of gentiles to the lord jesus to salvation to the baptism
Holy spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues and the gifts of the holy ghost and miracles had been wrought by them Boom, you come in and you're going to say oh, no. No, that's not enough Salvation through faith in jesus christ through repentance of sin Salvation through jesus through faith is not enough You've got to keep the law of moses You've got to be circumcised and you got to keep the law of moses Is there is there any difference? We talk about the sabbath. We talk about the feast is the same principle circumcision same thing Let's keep reading But there rose up certain of the sect of the pharisees which believed saying that it was needful to circumcise them and to command them To keep the law of moses And the apostles and elders came together for to consider this matter This is not new Therefore the matters that the apostles and let's just reiterate this Therefore the matters that the apostles and elders addressed were the questions of the ritual law of circumcision And gentiles and are gentiles required to keep the law of moses. I mean, this is this is the issue This is these are the issues. Do they have to be circumcised? Do they have to keep the law of moses the gentiles? I mean this could not be more clear the context of acts 15 and the counsel of the elders and apostles could be more clear So it's after much disputing on the matter The apostle peter was given respect and allowed to give his word on the matter the apostle peter not paul You paul haters the apostle peter Was given respect everybody finally shut their mouths And the man who shadow healed the sick who walked on the water with jesus Was allowed to speak Praise god Right He might have known a thing or two. What do you think? So let's go to verse seven acts 15 verse seven and when there had been much disputing Peter rose up and said unto them men and brethren You know that a good while ago God made choice among us that the gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel and believe And god which knoweth the hearts and bear them witness giving them the holy ghost even as he did unto us And put no difference between us and them purifying their hearts by faith Now therefore why tempt ye god To put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear what yoke What yoke is he talking about? Circumcision and the law of moses. Why are you going to try to put this yoke upon them? They were not saved by the gentiles at corneas's household when peter went were not saved by keeping the law They were saved by faith in jesus christ his death on the cross his shed blood and his resurrection alone
And when they believed in their heart The gospel that peter preached of jesus the message of jesus christ It says they were they were saved boom and then baptized filled with the holy ghost Not by the deeds of the law not by any works of law not by keeping a feast not by keeping torah Not by being circumcised. None of that had anything to do With being saved filled with the holy ghost None And he says why do you tempt god? Peter not paul peter. Why do you tempt god? To put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear but we believe Through the grace of the lord. Jesus christ will shall be saved even as they I don't know about you But this sounds like paul preaching this sounds like everything in the epistles That paul wrote We are not saved. We could not keep the law even us jews could not keep the law We couldn't bear that yoke And folks if there was if the old testament was perfect and was going to bring righteousness and life There would be no need for the second For the new testament. I want you to add. I want to ask the question. I mean, did you catch all that? First the apostle peter. I won't say it again sounds just like the apostle paul and his epistles Secondly, the apostle peter calls putting the requirements of the law of moses on the gentiles He calls it one tempting god two Putting a yoke of bondage on the disciples that the jews could not bear And then peter I love it reiterate The gentiles hearts were purified or made righteous by faith And the grace of our lord. Jesus christ not by the deeds of the law of moses And again, let's remember you paul haters This message is recorded by luke in the book of acts Shows that peter and all the apostles agreed with paul's gospel that was later recorded In his letters to the churches So you paul haters you you have to throw out peter too now You have to throw out luke. You have to throw out acts If you're going to throw out galations and hate on galations You got to throw out acts 15 You got to throw out the preaching of peter there Which showed clearly what he believed in his heart About the gentiles and the law I'm gonna tell you this is crystal clear. It's plain as the nose on your face But the council meeting of the apostles concluded with the apostle james agreeing With peter and paul and they wrote letters to send to the gentile churches by a group of faithful men
So let's read that We're going to go down a little bit in acts. You can read the whole chapter on your own time verse 22 He says then it pleased or then pleased at the apostles and the elders with the whole church so Everybody ought to say if you were here i'd make everybody and if if the church was full of people i'd say everybody say this would It pleased The apostles and the elders. It wasn't just the apostles but elders as well with the whole church of jerusalem To send chosen men of their company to anioc with paul and barnabas namely judas Surnamed barcibus and sylas chief men among the brethren and they wrote letters by them after this manner This is the letter they wrote to the gentile churches The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting Unto the brethren which are of the gentiles in anioc and syria and salicia For as much as we have heard that certain which went out from us Meaning us jews have troubled you with words Subverting your soul saying that you must be circumcised and keep the law to whom we gave no such commandment You said that even before this council The apostles made it clear we have not said to anyone Any newborn again gentile believer any new christian under the new covenant We have not given any commandment even up to this point that you have to keep the law of moses That means there were no commandments From the apostles to keep the feast to keep circumcision the sabbath Now granted a lot of them did because they were trying to win the jews around them But they weren't doing it to gain Their right standing with god and they were not putting that yoke of bondage on the gentile church So don't give me this crap Well, the apostles kept the feast or the apostles did this Yeah, you know what again? I don't have any problem if I could invite into a jewish household to celebrate passover I would go I would go and try to be a witness and a light to those jewish people. I don't have a problem It's okay. If you want to keep the feast It's okay. If you want to keep the sabbath on saturday, that's fine and any but don't for one second tell anyone They have to do it Or they're lawless Or they might not make it to heaven or they have to do that to be really right with god Oh, no, no, no Pardon me. I know I can't help but Preach a little bit when I get going through the bible Here we go He says i'm going to back up again. He says for as much as we have heard That certain which went out from us have troubled you with words
subverting your souls Saying you must be circumcised and keep the law to whom we gave no such commandment As seen good unto us being assembled with one accord To send chosen men unto you with our beloved barnabas and paul Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our lord. Jesus christ We have sent therefore judas and silas who shall also tell you the same things by now. So they sent multiple witnesses From the council from the apostles and elders in jerusalem This is the way it's going to be This is it And and I love this part Verse 28. He says for it seemed good to the holy ghost Imagine that the holy spirit. They said told us this is what this the holy spirit led us It is the holy ghost giving us these instructions to give to the gentile churches. It's from the holy spirit For it seemed good to the holy ghost and to us To lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things four things. They said they wanted the gentiles to do He said one that you abstain from meats offered to idols Number two from blood Drinking blood which is practice in satanism in most deep dark occultic groups from drinking blood and from things strangled and from fornication From which if you keep yourselves ye shall do well Fare you well Now again, even with these things he didn't say Well, this makes you save or unsay. He just said you need to stay away from these things Now I want you to notice something here Especially when it comes to the sabbath the keeping of the sabbath or saturday Before we get into the rest of this. I want you to notice That they did not make that requirement Now had that been important To the apostles and elders of jerusalem all jewish men Had that been important And and if they would believe that the gentiles really really really really really needed To keep the sabbath every saturday Seventh day Then they would have put it in here So They didn't So obviously They were making a point I mean, am I crazy? But I just wanted you to notice that did you notice that feast days and new moons were not required? Did you notice that circumcision was not required? I mean, did you notice these things? No, the only thing they they required you abstain from meats offered to idols i.e participating in idolatrous worship From the blood drinking from the things strangled instead of blood drained out
From fornication, which is a word really pornia that encompasses all forms of sexual immorality And of course, you know, of course some now I had I saw a torah observer who's argued that because of the things strangled and blood That they were advocating you keep all the law Now listen some things in the law did carry over some did not that's why you need to read the new testament to know What carried over and what didn't um It's a new contract Versus the old contract, you know, i'm gonna tell you right now if a lawyer if a lawyer handed me a contract He said I want you to sign this. Well, let me read it first Read through the contract Buying a house Whatever read through the contract All right. You know what? I don't like this. I don't like this. I don't like this. I'm not doing it Or you know what? This is this is not this is not the this is not perfect Okay, the lawyer said i'm gonna make a new contract. All right, i'm gonna make a new contract. Well, it's the same house So there's going to be similarities In the new contract versus the old contract. There'll be similarities in the contract But the things that needed to be addressed the things that needed to be fixed Are going to be fixed Or fulfilled And that's what the new covenant did. That's what the new contract did um I had a lady there too. Tell me it's so funny When uh when I said this on one of my facebook You know comments to answer somebody and I said there's two there's two different or it was youtube. I said there's two different contracts New covenant is a contract the old covenant is the contract. You better look at the fine print On both because there's some differences some some similarities, but some differences and some serious differences And uh one lady came on she's one of these hebraic roots torah observers. And what does she say? she says um It's not a contract And look it up look up covenant in hebrew or greek and guess what it says It's a contract I mean even the words used in the strong greek dictionary for covenant contract um I mean these folks will argue with you And they have no information about what they've been indoctrinated by by this cult um There's just so much here. Um Tor of course, you know some of the torah keepers argue that you know, these practices are on the law moses and So it's all carried over but you know again, that's ridiculous I mean it's it's ridiculous thinking that it's all it would all be carried over Because they mentioned a couple of things in acts 15 When the whole issue was to address the fact that the gentiles don't have to keep all of it
um You know the apostles, uh You know if that was the case if all of the law was carried over Then all the the apostles had to tell the gentiles in their letter. They could just say hey You have to keep all 1613 Of the old testament laws to be really right with god But guess what? They didn't do that and paul didn't do that later in his epistles to the churches. So Let's just get that clear now. We're gonna We got we gotta move on Well, it seems like we've been here for two hours. I hope that doesn't feel that way for you But let's go on here and digging this. What about the sabbath and the 10 commandments? All right now when we look at any command or practice in the old testament The main two questions that we have to ask is this Was this carried over into the new testament and if so Were there any changes? I mean it's pretty obvious that in the old covenant they were commanded to kill lambs and bulls and goats as blood sacrifices as a covering for their sins And as offerings to god it is clear and obvious that that is no longer commanded in the new testament Because jesus became our perfect sinless sacrifice And his blood is far better than that of abels or The blood of bulls and goats so Don't tell me there hasn't been a change Of the old testament law into the new testament law there has and don't tell me that that's the only one Oh, well, it's only because jesus became our sacrifice. So that's the only one No, you can't do that You've got to look so now I know that torah people He break roots people always claim That jesus and the apostles did not change the law Yet the bible says the exact opposite for instance. Let's look at the discussion Of jesus with the woman at the well He clearly announces a change coming Of the law of moses under the new testament and we're going to read this This part of this story here. This is john 4 verse 19. We'll go to verse 26 And it says the woman saith unto him sir I perceive that thou art a prophet now This is after jesus revealed to her that you know She'd had five husbands and the one she was living with now was not her husband. She said Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet very perceptive young lady there She said this to him our fathers worshiped in this mountain And you say that in jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship And jesus saith in their woman believe me The hour cometh when ye shall neither in this mountain nor yet at jerusalem worship the father You worship you know, not what we know what we worship for salvation is of the jews
But the hour cometh and now is when the true worshippers shall worship the father in spirit and in truth For the father seeketh such to worship him God is the spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth The woman saith in him I know that messiah cometh which is called christ When he has come he will tell us all things. Jesus saying there are I that speak unto thee am he Now let's back up She starts talking about Our fathers say we should worship on this mountain But the jews or the law of moses says what three times a year it was in the law that the men had to appear In jerusalem to worship to properly worship god that year. That's what he's talking about True, we can worship god anywhere But under the law of moses there was a requirement that they had to be in jerusalem three times a year now this Couldn't be more clear. Jesus is saying right here woman believe me The hour cometh when you shall neither in this mountain or yet at jerusalem worship the father So he was clearly saying there's a time coming This is no longer even a requirement. This is no longer going to even be An issue But remember now if you're going to require people to keep the law of moses you best be making some trips To jerusalem and I know i've heard them. Oh, but what about What about? The jews when they were in babylonian captivity, they couldn't go to jerusalem. Yeah, they were into judgment They were into the wrath of god I said, I guess that's what you're under then You can't go to jerusalem. You're under the judgment and the wrath of god I mean that's going to be your excuse of course Well, they just did the best they could Well, yeah, it's true. They did the best they could Don't say you got to go. You got to keep the law to be safe and you got it You best be getting to jerusalem now. Let's let's keep going Now when jesus told her That the requirement of the law for the people of god to worship at jerusalem would soon be changed He was indicating the opening of the door of the gentiles and the walk of faith for the new testament believers In other words the hours coming when you will be free from the requirements of the jewish law in vain traditions of your fathers Now the bible says clearly that the law of moses has been changed and in what I will call New testament has been exchanged rather for the new testament law. It's A phrase i'm just going to use right now. It's called the law of christ or the spirit Uh, the law of the spirit of life in christ. Jesus says it's called in romans but The bible the writer of hebrews illustrated this and this is we're going to go to hebrews
Seven and read verse 11 and 12 first He says there he says if therefore perfection Were by the levitical priesthood for under it the people received the law What further need there was another priest that should write after the order of melchizedek And not be called after the order of errant. So he's talking about the prophecy in psalm 110 from david That said that thou ordered priests forever after the order of melchizedek The lord said unto my lord sit thou with thy right hand till I make thine enemies thy footstool You are a priest forever after the order of melchizedek So he's talking about there would be another priesthood come And so he tells him If perfection came by the levitical priesthood, why does why does the scripture speak of another one coming? So perfection doesn't come by the levitical priesthood under the law of moses And then he says this in verse 12 for the priesthood being changed The priesthood being changed there is made a necessity a change also of the law People say the law didn't change Old tests there are people out there even saying no such thing as old testament. It's all one book. It's all one story I heard that from one of their leaders And god hasn't changed. No god hasn't changed but his covenants have changed Folks, it's evident again Jesus on the cross dying on the cross for our sins That changed a lot of things Don't say that you can say god himself doesn't change But you can't say that his dealings with man his covenants his agreements His conditions haven't changed over time He had an agreement with adam and eve in the garden of end. They broke it We're not under The old coming along we're in a new a whole new a whole new realm here He goes on to say Uh, let's let's keep reading here. Verse 17 through 19 For he testified thou art a priest forever after the order of male kids at x speaking of jesus For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment Well that ought to that i'm sure for some of you hebrew toro people that right there just Cut. Oh, wait a minute. They always say oh, wait a minute. Jesus said matthew 5 He said I did not come to destroy the law of the prophets but to fulfill jesus didn't come to do away with it No, he fulfilled it He's the end of it He kept it all and he's the end of it. He's the end of righteousness. He's he he did it
So we don't have to do it all perfectly. We don't have to do it But it says real plainly a disannulling of the commandment or the law Going before for the weakness and unprofitiveness thereof. Oh, that's painful painful painful That law you want to be under that law of moses. He said first of all is disannulled It had weakness and unprofitiveness to it You say well, how would god ever do anything? Why would he make something like that? Well, why did he put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden? perfect garden tree of life Adam and eve new creatures new creations sinless Perfect environment. He came down to the cool of the day every evening and spent time with him face to face They could hear his voice. They had a perfect relationship with him. Why would god mess that up? Why would he allow first of all? Why would he allow the tree of the knowledge of good and evil there and why would he even allow satan in the garden? Why would the serpent even be allowed to come in? God allows imperfect situations to test us and though he gave us the law To be our schoolmaster to lead us to jesus He made it where it wasn't absolutely perfect So that he would have to make another and it's a test Will we turn loose of the old? To embrace the new That's a test that's going to continue in your life. And well, that's what I preached Sunday morning Yesterday the new wine turning loose of the old so you can Have the new but let's look at what paul wrote in second corinthians 3 now this I'm gonna turn there myself This right here is just devastating if you want to cling to your righteousness coming From the law of moses and even he even addresses That part of it that was engraved on the stones Yes the 10 Now let's just read it. I'll just read this and I won't take anything out of context So i'm gonna just read this chapter so you can Can walk it through there if you can but second corinthians Chapter three, let's start at verse one He says do we again begin to commend ourselves or need we as some other epistles of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you He says you are our epistle written in our hearts known and read of all men For as you uh for as much as you are manifestly declared to be the epistle of christ ministered by us Written not with ink But with the spirit of the living god not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart
And such trust have we through christ to godward not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything As of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of god who has also made us able ministers of the new testament First of all, let me just stop right there. Paul is clearly saying look we are now After jesus died and rose again. We are ministers of the new testament I am first and foremost a minister of the new testament Do I learn things from the old testament? Do I get truth? Are there things in the prophecies yet to be fulfilled? Yes, there's much value in the old testament, but that's not where we stay. That's not where we live We are ministers of the new testament primarily foremost above all else And yes, I can say that because hebrews made it clear That we are have a better covenant with better promises So I can say the new testament takes precedence over the old it is better That's what the bible says. I mean there's some people about to have a coronary With me saying that because they think the old testament is better but that's not what the apostles told us Very plainly and it should be evident should be obvious I thank god. I don't have to go to jerusalem three times a year. I thank god. I don't have to to Keep all those feasts and then I don't have to try to keep the sabbath every saturday just perfect and I don't have to You know keep all those dietary laws We haven't you don't you don't really know how many products pork is in hog fat Hog fat it's in a lot of stuff Stuff you wouldn't even think I bet poor muslims and just have no idea how much hog fat they've consumed or put on their bodies They lose it because it's in so many things Um, but let's keep reading. So he says we are ministers of the new testament Not of the letter and he's speaking of the letter of the law But of the spirit for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life But if the ministration of death Written and engraving on stones was glorious. Everybody see this. What's he talking about? Written on stone. Wait a minute now out of the 613 laws in the old testament only 10 Were written in stone So he's saying here that even that was the ministration of death Well, why is that because you can say let's just pick one law real quick and I will get to this But let's pick up that shall not commit adultery Okay, that shall commit adultery. That's still a sin a serious sin under the new testament as well
but under the old testament if you committed adultery You were to be stoned to death Guess what? Not how we handle that anymore under the new testament so even the 10 Have been adjusted In how they are Administered let's look at this Keep reading. I just want to make that sure because there are people that actually you want to talk about idolizing You know these these folks accusing us of making jesus an idol these folks have made The stone 10 commandments tonight And if they could get a hold of them, they would worship them and you know They'd be bowing down and fawning over them and paul says here that those that that those tablets That were engraven in the stones says but if the administration of death Written and engraven in stones was glorious meaning had the glory of god on it and it did He said had was glorious was past tense But if the administration of death written and engraven in stones was glorious so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face Of moses for the glory of his countenance Which glory was to be done away? Which glory was to be done away And really glory there's an italic so we can say which was to be done away How shall not the administration of the spirit be rather glorious or more glorious for if the administration of condemnation? speaking of the log moses If the ministry of condemnation Had glory much more than the administration of righteousness exceeding glory For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect by reason of the glory that exceleth For if that which is done away was glorious much more that's which remaineth Is glorious. I want to say do you see that several times? All right three times here. He says Speaking of the old testament law. He calls it the administration of death And he says two times It's to be done away and one time abolished But those words Even though the translators use done away the phrase done away twice and abolished once it's the same It's the same Greek word And it's carta gail or carta gail May not be pronouncing that right carte argail But this is the definition when he speaking of the log moses speaking even of the The part of it engraven on the stones
He said that they are abolished done away twice Done away twice abolished once all the same word three times in one chapter And the definition of the word for the phrase done away and abolished It means to abolish to cease to deliver to destroy to do away to make without effect To bring or come to naught to put away to put down to vanish away to make void So it's clear that the law of moses has been changed In its original sense. It's been abolished in its original sense in its original intent And the people who put faith in the finished work of jesus christ on the cross They are no longer under the law of moses They are under the replacement which is called the law Of christ the law of the spirit of life and christ jesus now You can find that those two passages romans 8 for gilatian 6 2 again calls the law of christ Says bearing you one another's burdens. Galatian 6 2 bearing you one of those burdens and so fulfill the law of christ Not the law of moses And then he says gilatian. I mean romans 8 for the spirit Of life for the law of the spirit of life in christ jesus has made me free From the law of sin and death for what the law could not do Talk about the law of moses, but it could not mean that it was weak through the flesh god sending his only son I mean It's all throughout here folks Now let's look at this because I entitled this tonight the ifram awakening or apostasy torah observance versus the law of christ Now let's look at some of those changes of the old testament law in the new testament I mean, let's just look through people say jesus didn't change the law. Yes, he did I've already given you one where he talked to the woman at the well, but look at this Um, we're gonna go to matthew 5 And i'm i'm not gonna go through the entire chapter. You can show where he changed every single Part of the the law he spoke of the old covenant But these these are just some examples. He says here And this is matthew 5 Okay, we're gonna start in verse 30. I believe it is He says it has been said And of course what he's referring to is in the law of moses deuteronomy 24. He said it has been said Whosoever shall put away his wife Let him give her a writing of divorcement But I say unto you That whosoever shall put away his wife saving for the cause of fornication Causes her to commit adultery and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery Now here jesus makes it very clear In fact, if you go back and you read in deuteronomy 24 you find out that it says if she lost favor with her husband
Pretty much for any reason If he lost favor in her or if there was some uncleanness found in her and the word uncleanness in the hebrew there simply means if she uh Maybe maybe a moment. She fell down and her breasts were exposed. It means showing nudity didn't mean committing adultery, but if she showed any uncleanness if there was any nudity reveal or Again just if her husband lost favor with her go back and read deuteronomy 24 read the law So so the law said pretty much a husband could divorce his wife for just about anything That was the law He just had to give her the the requirement was he just had to give her a bill of divorcement and put her away And jesus comes on and says no no not the way it's going to be anymore no to be able To divorce your wife. You're going to have to have a serious reason and it's you're going to have to be able to prove Fornication you're going to be able to prove sexual immorality if you want to leave if you want to get a divorce You're going to tell me that's not a change Come on now. Is that a change? It's a change now. Let's keep going He said again another The next verses again you have heard that has been said by them in old time. He's referring to the law of moses Thou shalt not foreswear thyself, but thou shalt perform thine Unto the lord thine oaths or you or you're swearing So what they were talking about is making even oaths to the lord And he said you know what don't make oaths, but you can make oaths to the lord That's what the law said the law of moses, but jesus said But i say unto you swear not at all Don't make any oaths Neither by heaven for it is god's throne nor by the earth for it is his footstool Neither by jerusalem for it is the city of the great king Neither shall thou swear by thy head because thou canst not make one hair white or black But let your communication be yay yay nay nay for whatsoever is more of these that cometh evil I mean right there the law said, okay You could don't don't make oaths, but you can make oaths vows to the lord And once he comes out and jesus comes i said don't do any of it Don't do anything. That's a change my friend That's a change of the law. Jesus made there. He made let's let's look at the other one He said you have heard it has been said He's referring to the law of moses in leviticus 24 An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. That's pretty plain Now this is the way jesus is used. It's about pastor dean. This is jesus Right. He says the law says an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth somebody did you wrong That's how you deal with it But jesus said but i say unto you That you resist not evil But whosoever shall smite thee on the right cheek turn unto him also the other
Does that sound a little different? How is that not different? The law says eye for an eye man. Somebody bust you an eye bust them back an eye That's the law Jesus hey, uh, dude, dude, we're not doing that anymore Folks, I hope you see this. I hope you see it Because we're getting to a point here where you you've got to get this Now, let me go back again Remember, we just mentioned a minute ago. You look at the 10 commandments. We'll just pick out for for a second the adultery Now again, it's still a serious sin. Of course, the bible is clear. See this is why we know it's carried over It has serious consequences if you're a habitual adulterer the bible says you will not inherit the kingdom of god Hormongers and adulterers god will judge hebrews 13 dalations 5 if you practice Hortons fornication adultery, you will not inherit the kingdom of god revelation 21 6 through 8 so There's there's new testament law. You can't be a practicing habitual adulterer fornicator And think that you're going to be completely that that's being lawless and go to heaven when you die I don't care. I don't care what you've believed and what you've confessed and all that you cannot be Without law you cannot be lawless according to the new testament requirements new testament requirements And so we have we have this Set, you know old covenant Law, you know 10 commandments that shall not commit adultery under the law. You were to be stoned to death It's carried over to the new testament. It's still a serious sin But we see how jesus dealt with it Jesus began to show them the change the pharisees. John 8 brought to him a woman caught in the act of adultery And threw her down at his feet and says moses and the law says that such a one should be stoned What do you say? Well, now jesus could have said yeah stoner is what the law says follow moses Is that what he said? No He squatted down He ignored them And he began doodling in the sand I love it There's been a lot of speculation on what he doodled in the sand. Some people say it was the names of their the pharisees girlfriends but we don't know but jesus As they continued to push him see what you see in that story of john 8 is the is the perfect illustration of the law The law wants it its demands followed to the letter And that end of that letter is death. We want her dead. We want her stoned to death That is what the law says but jesus comes along see
And he's instituting a new covenant a new testament in his blood The law came by moses, but grace and mercy Come by jesus christ And he doodles in the sand and then he rises up and he says you Who are without sin cast the first stoner? instituting a whole new way and one by one Starting at the eldest they dropped the rocks and split Jesus looked up to the woman and says no man condemns you See the law the ministry of condemnation No, lord Neither do I condemn you go and sin no more See he didn't allow her he wouldn't allow her to be lawless But the way the sin was going to be dealt with The way the law about adultery was going to be dealt with completely changed So don't tell me there's not a difference between old covenant and new covenant Um, i'm gonna i'm really going to skip ahead here. I mean we could talk about you know, paul Paul made it clear polygamy Wasn't no longer do you know there are some some? I'm, probably sure this this is even the extreme of the extreme within the hebraics and torah observance that are arguing for polygamy because Of the patriarchs and early people who had multiple wives um you know Paul made it clear to his young pastor That any man that wanted to be anything really for the kingdom of god. I know it says a bishop But anybody wants to really be anything for the kingdom of god. He said must be blameless the husband of one wife not two three twelve uh, we're not mormonism so that was uh timothy first timothy three Uh two there But let's jump over to chapter, you know, I mean they're they're arguing too about dietary laws and here's what the new testament says about that First timothy four what now the spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter time some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils speaking lies in hypocrisy having their conscience seared with a hot iron forbidding to marry commanding to abstain from meats Which god hath created to be received with thanksgiving and then which believe and know the truth For every creature of god is good and nothing to be refused If it be received with thanksgiving for it is sanctified by the word of god in prayer. Does that sound like any dietary? Restrictions from the old covenant placed upon new covenant believers in particularly gentiles. No, it does not um And I I see we're We're running getting close to running out of time. So i'm going to try to to bring this out here
But let's let's look at the sabbath because this is the big thing Because this is the question that I got from the brother. Well, okay I can he said I can basically he said I can concede we don't have to keep the feast We don't have to keep new moon festivals. We don't have to keep the dietary laws So I can concede all that But what about the sabbath day and this seems to be a stronghold for a lot of these people. What about saturday? Why do you worship on sunday? Why you know, shouldn't we keep the sabbath? But again, we have to go back to what You know, jesus said this to his apostles. This is matthew 28. I'm throwing Kevin a curveball here, but the end of matthew 28 when he gives the great commission to All the disciples around he said go into all the world and teach all nations Baptizing them the name of the father said and the holy ghost He said teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you Lo i'm with you always even until the ends of the world So jesus told his disciples his apostles you go teach what i've commanded you so either we Accept that they went forth the apostles went forth and taught what jesus told them to teach Or that they didn't and lied to us. That's the only thing we got right So what we look is when jesus said all things that were commanded We go and we look what are the apostles teach? What did john luke? peter Paul What did they teach? So then we go we go to galatians. What do they teach about the sabbath? Do we have to keep? The sabbath and this is what he said. We're just going to start reading here colossians 2 13 through 17 And you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh Hath he quickened together with him hath him forgiven you all trespasses Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us Which was contrary to us and took it out of the way nailing it to the cross Now the handwriting of ordinances is the law of moses. That's what it's referred to you can look it up Have one person say well, it couldn't be the law of moses because or the ten commandments because they were made of stone You couldn't nail them to a cross I mean really is this where we're going with this? but He said blot out of the handwriting of ordinances that was against us which was contrary to us took it out of the way Naming it to the cross And having spoiled principalities and powers He made a show of them openly triumphing over them in it that is the cross And yes, it is all about the cross. Hallelujah And then he said this let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink Or in respect of a holy day or of the new moon or of Sabbath days Now the word judge there where he says let no man judge you He's saying no man can just can can judge you or distinguish you right or wrong
about any of these things meat drink holy days new moon or Sabbath days and this sabbath day talks is the seventh day the sabbath day And it's it's his plan. He said these are shadow are a shadow of things to come but the body is of christ um Galatians four nine and ten But now after that you have known god or rather are known of god. How turn you again to the weak and beggarly elements Where until you desire again to be in bondage you observe days and months and times and years He said i'm afraid of you I mean this is He was telling the galatians. It's not about all that. It's not about circumcision or keeping the sabbath or the feast It's not about this. You don't get your righteousness From these things and and it's amazing you go to roman's chapter 14 And what does paul say he talks about one man it steams one day above another and another man it steams every day alike And he's saying that it doesn't matter If one man wants to esteem the the saturday is the sabbath That's his prerogative. That's his business. He can do that. He's free to do that But if another man and he's talking about christian brothers if another man is steams every day alike. That's what I do I don't care every day alike to me. I say love. Jesus worship. Jesus Uh every single day You can meet any day of the week for church. It doesn't matter Pick your day Just make sure you have one That's that's the point Just make sure you have one But nobody can judge you in these things One man is steams one day above another and another one another man is steams every day alike You know what paul revealed too? And I know this gonna hurt some feelings But he said, you know the people that think you have to be You have to eat a certain thing or drink a certain thing or keep a certain day of the week. He said that's weakness I'm just gonna be honest You got to lean on those rituals and laws to make yourself feel righteous and special. He's saying you are weak You're weak Your faith is weak I don't need those outward trappings to feel religious or to feel ceremonial or to feel You know Spiritual I don't need that I'll tell you what I need. I need time with the lord in prayer and fasting and worship Seven days a week That's what I need I don't know what you might need but I that's why I look at this stuff. It's silly Oh, we got to keep the sabbath starting on friday night saturday morning. It's silliness It's silliness If you want to do it and you're like, I just want to do this
Okay Don't tell me I have to Don't tell any other believer. They have to don't even make another believer feel slightly condemned If they don't or you're in error you're in sin and you're headed down the wrong road Now, let me share this and I'll bring this to it and this is what I shared with the young lady I said just like adultery was carried over into the new covenant, but The punishment for it was abolished and adjusted The sabbath does exist under the new covenant Let me show you where it exists The sabbath does exist under the new but it's different It's not about any particular day of the week or rigid restrictions on activity It's found in the requirement Not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together in a church For worship fellowship teaching and accountability to spiritual authority hebrews 10 25 Now remember the hebrews are the one he's been telling the whole time. It's not about the circumcision It's not about the levitical priesthood. It's not about the blood of bulls and goats. It's not about The the law of moses. He's telling him don't go back to that Jesus is sufficient christ is sufficient And he tells them in hebrews 10 12 don't forsake the assembling of of ourselves together as the manner of some is So I want to tell you you want to understand keeping the sabbath 10 commandment law under the new covenant is don't forsake the gathering together of christians And when I say christian i'm talking about a church. Yes a church I don't care if you meet in the building or you meet in the home or you meet in the garage or you meet out on the street corner You meet with other believers that are true born again spiritual christians You that that truly some are elders are called to be elders. Somebody's called to be a pastor Somebody's called to be a leader. We don't have a leaderless Body of christ. We don't have a leaderless churches. This is foolishness again more foolishness. It's just rebellion being manifested but Find a church with a true pastor That he's a true shepherd has a shepherd's heart and teaches the truth. Maybe not everything maybe you don't agree on everything But on the main parts Find you a group of people That has a truly god-called god-adointed pastor leader elders And fellowship, but I don't care if it's three people. I don't care if it's 30 people on camera 300 3000 Find that and go to church Yes, go to where they meet Somebody's home church building rented building steeple build. I don't care. None of that matters They met in all kind of different places But don't forsake the assembling of yourselves together. There should be a day
in your week When you set aside to meet together With the body of christ Where you can worship together Correct one another teach one another Um be accountable to somebody have real have a leadership there is leadership read hebrews 13 There's leadership in the body of christ Obey those that have the rule over you and the lord There's fivefold ministry apostles prophets evangelists pastors teachers The church is not leaderless. If you if if if you're in a group of people, there's no real leader There's no really god call Somebody's bold enough saying I know god spoke to me and called me to be a pastor If they can't say that You don't have a church Now you can you can fellowship and that's good. Maybe you you hadn't found it yet And that's all you got at least do that but folks hear what i'm saying Those people out there saying oh these people in the 501c3 church are deceived. Well, guess what? Some of them aren't some of them aren't They're just trying to obey Hebrews 10 25 to not forsake the assembling of themselves together and some of them don't know where to go They don't know what to do. I have people all the time tell me I wish I could find a church They know they need it but again You you some people just give up Find it That's you. That's you. You want to know that's yourself. We could go down each list Each one of the 10 commandments and we could see How the law of christ how it is in the new covenant in the new testament. I mean that's just Um, it's a beautiful thing I mean it's it's to me. It's awesome. And and I don't want to say this too. Well in mark 228 I love what jesus said here and i'm gonna turn there Mark 2 Well, actually we'll just read from verse 23 I know I keep throwing Kevin this Curve balls, but he's getting it He's doing great Verse 23 and it came to pass That he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day and his disciples began As they went to pluck the ears of corn and the Pharisees said unto them behold Why do they on the sabbath day do that which is not lawful? and truly No work allowed on the sabbath day No gathering of food. It was like the gathering of the manna. Remember they were forbidden in the old covenant They had to go out on friday and gather double so they wouldn't go out and gather the manna on saturday
No work allowed No work for you And the ferris so the ferris is right there. They're they're not keeping the sabbath What did jesus say? Jesus said unto them Have you never read what david did when he had need and was hungry? He and they that were with him How he went into the house of god in the days of abathar the the high priests and did eat the showbread Which was not lawful to eat but for the priest and gave also to them that were with him And he said unto them the sabbath was made for man not man for the sabbath Say their man's more important People are more important than the sabbath Oh painful Painful in you toro folks, isn't it? People people's needs are more important than the sabbath People need healing people need jesus people need truth Are you gonna sit in your house and keep sabbath? What if the lord tells you to? walk 20 miles To witness to a guy who's about to die you're gonna sit in your house. Keep the sabbath. I think you're holy now jesus said and then jesus ended that little teaching and With this verse 28 therefore the son of man is lord also of the sabbath jesus declared himself Lord of the sabbath So that's one of his names Yeah Lord of the sabbath jesus Now we've seen i've shown you in the new testament where the apostles where they showed us We don't have to keep any particular day. We're not to be judged by any day What I love is this jesus is the lord of the sabbath. He's our rest He's my sabbath If i'm truly in him By faith and he is in me And i'm walking with him And i'm keeping the law of christ the new testament law then I am keeping the sabbath. How many of you know you could keep your your saturday sabbath? And be far from jesus The way some of you respond to me on facebook and youtube. I can tell you you are far from jesus But go ahead and keep your sabbath on saturday. Make sure you do that religious work To make you feel righteous You know what? I want to feel righteous. I want to feel righteous because i've been with jesus I don't need your Sabbath or your feast or your new moons or your no pork menu. I don't need that. I don't have to have it
i'm free Now i'm not free to be immoral and i want to say this these guys in this torah Observant movement and the hebraic roots movement that start using verses like say from first john about keeping the commandments And they and they try to make that allude to and say that means keeping the old testament commandments. They are completely twisting the scripture Has nothing To do with that. There is a new testament law. There are new testament commandments Why do you think jesus made the statement a new commandment? I give unto you new two commandments You see it's easy folks. It's spelled out in the new testament. What do I have to do? Love god with all my heart soul mind and strength talk to him pray worship Draw near to him in faith and keep myself From the immorality of the world the adultery the fornication the witchcraft The sorcery the drugs All I have to do is stay away from that evil tree out there and it's evil fruit And then all I have to do is be with him and walk in faith believe it believe What he said and step out and do what he tells me to do They that are led by the spirit Galatians 5 that are led by the spirit Are not under the law. I i'm not i'm led by the holy ghost He talks to me and I talk to him the spirit of jesus christ lives in me I do what he tells me to do. I don't have to be under the law But now if you want to be under the law i'm going to tell you what's going to happen. The holy spirit is going to Not be leading you'll be led by another spirit And that's why they're getting deceived. That's why so many are getting deceived so I guess we're about out of time I can't believe I did two straight hours on this without stopping but hopefully Somebody out there Will get free From the bondage and the yoke Of believing that they have to keep the law of moses To be right with god again, if you want to for Your own personal enjoyment and that's just what you like to do Again, you're free to do it Free to do it I've been to pass over seder mills. I've I've celebrated in church. I had in montgomery. We celebrated trumpets um Rosh Hashanah, we have we have done those things nothing wrong with that to learn to enhance to understand
Not as a requirement not as for righteousness not to feel superior to other christians who don't do those things that is Pride and pride goes before a fall and a haughty spirit before destruction And when you start feeling you're superior because you Do these different religious works of the law of moses you are headed for shipwreck So I guess we're about out of time. I know we got a few minutes, but i'm just going to go ahead and end it here I hope you learned something You've been listening to prophecy quake I'm your host. Pastor Dean Odell pastor of fire and grace church here in Opelika auburn area in alabama um We're on facebook. We're on youtube Definitely, uh, check us out If you wanted to send hate mail i'll read some of it Um, i'm not going to read all of it and i'm not going to respond to all of it but um again Go back to the scriptures and uh Stay in the freedom You know In fact, let's read that Galatians 5 1 this is what we'll finish with i've got almost three minutes galatians 5 1 this is your Finishing instruction here if I can get my sticky pages to go there We'll get there in a second Galatians 5 1 he says stand fast therefore In the liberty wherewith christ has made us free And be not entangled again With the yoke of bondage and the yoke 90 seconds to the ceremonies the rituals the law of moses so Stand fast i'm going to stand fast in the liberty There with christ has made me free. You can call me names You can call me an idiot you can say I need to read the bible and say I don't understand the bible You can say all kind of things about me you want to say But i'm standing fast in the liberty Where christ set me free 30 plus years ago God bless. We love you. We're out of here
