we're going to start back where we left off this morning isaiah 42 isaiah 42 because this is vitally important and if you wanted to break up the class that we're doing here kind of in sections or the study or whatever you want to call it in sections this first section first part i would i would call preaching deliverance to the captives now where we left off this morning with isaiah 42 and may have you turn there in just a second matter of fact just hold your spot there on isaiah 42 let's flip real quick flip to matthew chapter 12. because i said this in passing uh this morning but i want you to see it matthew 42 being quoted by matthew in matthew 12 pertaining to jesus deliverance ministry and the whole debate going on there and then we're going to come back to isaiah 42 kind of review that for a second because that's very important all right so matthew chapter 12 everybody there all right matthew 12 verse 22. well let's know let's back up i'm sorry back up to verse um i don't do the whole thing back up to verse 9 it says and when he was departed thence he went into their synagogue and behold there was a man which had his hand withered and they asked him saying is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days that they might accuse him and he said unto them what man is there that shall be among you that shall have one sheep and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day will he not lay hold on it and lift it out how much then is a man better than a sheep wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days then he said to the man stretch forth your hand and he stretched it forth and it was restored whole like as the other then the pharisees went out and held counsel against him how they might destroy him i said but when jesus knew it he withdrew himself from thence and great multitudes followed him and he healed them all and charged him that they should not make him known now jesus remember this is jesus saying you know he told him don't tell anybody and one of the reasons if you go back and read and mark one of the reasons he said don't go tell anybody in this particular situation he had all the crowds he could handle and there was it got so bad at one point he told somebody not to say something they said it and he couldn't even enter the city anymore he had to stay out in the desert so there were reasons why he said this but matthew picks up the holy spirit has matthew pick up that this was something that fulfilled prophecy and that's what he's going to say and that's where he quotes isaiah 42 starting at verse 18 is these are direct quotes from isaiah 42 18-21
behold my servant whom i have chosen my beloved in him in whom brother my soul is well pleased i will put my spirit upon him and he shall show judgment to the gentiles he shall not strive nor cry neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets a bruised reed shall he not break into smoking flex shall he not quench till he send forth judgment unto victory and in his name shall the gentiles trust so i wanted you to see that even matthew right in the middle we just read of jesus healing somebody we're going to read of jesus delivering somebody next but right in the middle of of jesus healing somebody and casting the demon out of somebody jesus uh matthew quotes isaiah 42 and and pins that on jesus that that was talking about jesus so i wanted you to see that because i don't want you think i'm just making these things up all right i want you to see this is what the scripture teaches here all right so so right after verse 21 where he ends the quote from isaiah 42 he says then was brought unto him one possessed with the devil blind and dumb and he healed him in so much that the blind and done both spake and saw and all the people were amazed and said is not this the son of david but when the pharisees heard it they said this fellow doth cast out devils but by bills above the prince of the devils and jesus knew their thoughts and said unto them every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand and if satan cast out satan he is divided against himself how shall then his kingdom stand but if i by bills above cast out devils by whom do your children cast them out what he was saying is there's only one prince of the devils so if i got the prince of the devils and i'm casting out devils how in the world is peter and paul and james and john and everybody else how are they casting demons out we can't all have the one prince of the devils so he was making a point to him but of course you know they were having fun attacking but look at verse 28 he said but if i cast out devils by the spirit of god then the kingdom of god is come unto you or else how could one enter into a strong man's house and spoil his goods except he first bind the strong man and he will spoil his house only this he that is not with me is against me and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad so i wanted you to see in the context so now we know that what this verse is referring to let's go back to isaiah 42. isaiah 42 verse 1. this is exactly what he quoted in matthew chapter 12 behold my servant whom i uphold mine elect and whom my soul delights i have put my spirit upon him he shall bring forth judgment to the gentiles all right he shall not cry nor lift up or cause his voice to be heard in the street and so on and so forth and that's what we read this morning look at verse six and seven still speaking of jesus
he says i i the lord have called thee in righteousness and will hold on hand and will keep thee and give thee for covenant of the people for a light to the gentiles to open the blind eyes to bring out the prisoners from the prison and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house so i just give you that to see that the context of the scripture used here both in isaiah and in matthew is in the context of the ministry of jesus his ministry of healing and deliverance because he talks about bringing the prisoners out of the prison house everybody with me all right so the chapter continues and that's why we're going down and we're going to repeat this even though we touched on it this morning verse 21 still speaking of jesus he says the lord is well pleased for his righteousness sake he will magnify the law and he will make it honorable but this is a people robbed and spoiled they are all of them boy you need to underline this is a verse you need to remember you need to learn it you need to have it in you but he says but this is a people robbed in school they are all of them snared in holes and they are hid in prison houses they are for a prey or just sitting there waiting for the enemy to devour them is what the word pray means and none delivereth they are for spoil and none saith restore who among you will give ear to this and who will hearken and hear for the time to come so he's talking about who would pick up this ministry of deliverance setting the captives free prisoners free who's going to pick it up and carry on the tor carry the torch who will hearken and hear this who will do it i can tell you for many years in the church world of doing this there's some out there but it's very few and that's why god was like who will who will do this for me now i want you to turn i want you to turn to uh to mark chapter one and i bring this up here the reason isaiah 42 is so important while you're turning to mark the reason isaiah 42 is so important is because i absolutely believe and my years of experience with this i absolutely believe this scripture that all of them are snared in holes and all of them are hid in prison houses because all of us to some degree not all the same but everyone i believe has has opened doors to the devil and strongholds in their lives whether they be from generational sins of their fathers and forefathers or whether they be from our own sins or things that were done to us in other words i all people to some
degree need deliverance some will be more dramatic than others some will be more extensive but it doesn't matter we all need it and um that's the big the big hoopla is because we get you got to answer the question who needs deliverance okay this is why christians and pastors and ministers aren't casting demons out of people because they haven't even identified who needs it you know the only time really you'll see in a church anybody jump up and try to deal with the devil if somebody starts screaming and wallowing in the floor or slithering on the floor like a snake which i have seen this is so funny i got to tell this story this uh i can't remember if it was pastor hector or claudio freitzon some of those guys from the argentine revival came to evangel temple in montgomery and this is in the late 80s and this is back then when steve hill used to come preach at evangel temple before long before the brownsville revival um but anyway he uh it was either pastor hector one of the big argentine uh pastors that have great revival there or anaconda anyway um pastor cortez frazier was the pastor at evangel temple back then and of course being a good assembly of god church that it was they didn't believe a christian could have a demon right but pastor frazier uh went down to argentina with steve hill and them and anaconda and pastor hector and he he saw this the tremendous miracles and see what carlos anaconda was was the head evangelist during the argentine revival i mean he was the billy graham of argentina except holy ghost field tongue talking casting demons out and what they would do is he would get he would set up a big crusade and um preach the gospel and and invite people to come forward and give their lives to jesus and and thousands did the argentine revival went for about 15 years just a powerful move of god and then and then what he would do what carlos anacony would do and i've heard this man speak and actually he's laid hands on my head and i hit the floor all right the power of god's on this brother but uh what carlos anaconda would do is he would stand up and after he'd preach and after he'd give an altar call for people to get saved he had counselors you know with the people who'd responded then he would stand on the podium take the mic and he would say listen to me satan i bind you in the name of jesus and i command you to come out of these people people stopped dropping like flies all over the place manifesting demons and then they had a whole group of people that were trained deliverance ministers and they would go through the crowd and they'd identify people that were manifesting demons they'd pick them up and then they would carry them to a tent set up behind the revival tent and that was the
deliverance tent so they had two tents they had the gospel tent the salvation tent and then they had the deliverance tent and it was seeing this that changed uh steve hill and shook the theology of pastor cortez frazier there and pastor cortez was a good pastor don't get me wrong he's probably one of the better pastors that i've been around in a lot of years but that shook him and anyway they had this in in one place and of course some of you have never seen this before because we in in america we ship all of our demon possessed people into insane asylums and mental institutions but in these countries where they don't have these things and they're very poor and they have people that are truly fully demon-possessed and we'll talk about the difference between being fully possessed and not in a minute but these people fully possess they're going to hurt themselves or hurt somebody and they usually actually chain them to trees until they can fast and pray or get somebody that can get the demons out of them and i have seen it in africa i walked through an entire backyard of a church with people chained to trees who were demon-possessed and this church was doing nothing but fasting for like two weeks to get these people free so see this is this is not a game this is this is a war right so anyway pastor frazier goes down there and he sees one of these little these these little girls chained to a tree because she's demon possessed and foaming at the mouth and trying to scratch people's eyeballs out and everything else and he walks up to her and he starts to pray for because he feels sorry for he feels compassion for but he's never done this okay so he's never done deliverance or anything like that but he starts praying for them and the demons scream out of this girl at him and they go jesus we know who are you and it shook him because he realized he didn't have faith for this he didn't know what he was doing he he just but it shook him so bad so he comes back to the united states and he shares this testimony at evangel temple in the late 80s about demons in people people started manifesting demons all over that church and i'm talking about some of them were pastors on staff and sunday school teachers falling in the floor and slithering like snakes oh yeah luckily there were some people in that church and i wasn't there that sunday i'd have had a ball but there were some people there that understood a little bit of it and carried some of these folks to the back room and started at least trying to cast demons out of all right but what i'm getting at is that's usually the only time back then or even now that people will even address the issue if they will address it at all okay so that's why this is important we have to identify if deliverance is something jesus did a
lot of and that's what we're going to look at jesus did his ministry and i know i didn't say it this morning i said it nancy goes you never finished but the three parts of jesus ministry yep i only got one i see i see that's good that y'all are paying attention it shows me everybody's paying attention number one was his teaching ministry and that's what yeah number two and this is not necessarily an order but number two his healing ministry and number three of course his deliverance or casting out demons ministry now that's what jesus did right that's what he did and he is he not the one that said the works that i do he shall do also now i know i just threw healing in there but that's also his miracles raising the dead and so on and so forth blind eyes and all that so that's jesus ministry so at best the church world out there is leaving out two-thirds of what jesus did right and some of them are leaving out more than that and calling it jesus but that's why this is important but we have to identify then okay if the ministry of deliverance and casting out demons is something that jesus did a lot of and the early church did a lot of then obviously we ought to be doing a lot of it right but we're not and one of the reasons is we won't identify who needs deliverance so i give you that isaiah 42 is a clear identification of in his simple identification who needs deliverance everybody somehow some way in some part right vitally important right so having said that let's keep going everybody needs deliverance in some degree now i told you to turn the mark right mark chapter one all right let's determine what we're talking about here so we're going to start reading at mark we're gonna go down to verse 14. let's just start reading there jesus comes out of the wilderness i love this jesus comes out of the wilderness being 40 days tempted of the devil right jesus has been dealing with the devil personally for 40 days in this battle in this warfare of temptation he comes out of the wilderness one of the first places he goes is to nazareth and he preaches that he's come to set the captives free
he talks about deliverance and then the first synagogue he walks into a man manifests and he casts demons out of him and then you're going to see that the whole town brought their demon-possessed people to him and he spent the whole evening casting demons out of folks and that was just the beginning of his ministry okay think about it why if if jesus had to deal with it so much why don't we right let's keep reading he comes out of it and two why do we think it's strange why do church folks and christians think it's strange when you start talking about the devil and demons when you read the first chapter of mark and you see jesus dealing with satan for 40 days and then he comes out and starts casting demons out of folks i mean it was part of the ministry right a serious part of it well don't be a demon hunter there's not a devil behind every bush don't give the devil glory all these stupid lies and cliches to keep you it's the devil's lies to keep you from doing what god wants you to do amen all right let's let's read this from verse well this is back up verse 12. all right and immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness and he was there in the wilderness 40 days tempted of the devil and was with the wild beast and the angels ministered unto him now after that john was put into prison jesus came into galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom of god and saying the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of god is at hand repent ye and believe the gospel and we jump over let's jump over to verse 21 and they went into capernaum and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught and they were astonished at his doctrine for he taught them is one that had authority and not as the scribes and there was in the synagogue a man with an unclean spirit and he cried out saying let us alone what have we to do with thee thou jesus of nazareth art thou come to destroy us i know thee who thou art the holy one of god and jesus rebuked him saying hold thy peace and come out of him and when the unclean spirit had torn him he cried with a loud voice and came out of him and they were all amazed in so much that they question among themselves saying what thing is this what new doctrine is this you imagine how many people freak out if that happened at first baptist church what is going on around here right well that's what happened what is thing is this what new doctrine is this for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits and they do obey him and immediately his fame spread abroad abroad throughout all the region round about and forth with when they were come out of the synagogue now this is the same day when they were coming out of the synagogue they entered into the house of
simon and andrew with james and john but simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever and anon or quickly they tell him of her and he came and took her by the hand now in another in luke it says he rebuked the fever so it was demonic he rebuked the fever and immediately the fever left her and she ministered unto them now look at verse 32 and this just blows my mind and it evening so by the end of the day when the sun did set they brought unto him all that were diseased and them that were possessed with devils and all the city was gathered together at the door and he healed many that were sick of divers diseases and cast out many devils and suffered not the devils to speak because they knew him so jesus ministers all day there's no telling how many hours this went on okay this is at sunset we don't know how many hours this was went on look at the next verse and in the morning rising up a great wall before day he went out and departed into a solitary place and there prayed y'all get what i'm saying takes prayer jesus even knew he ministered all day to many people what's he know what he's got to do after a little sleep i got to get up i got to pray because i gotta replenish my anointing my power my authority if he had to do it we have to do it now let's just keep reading says after he says he rose up rising up a great while before day he went down into a solitary place and prayed and simon and they that were with him followed after him and when they had found him they said to him all men seek for thee and he said unto them let us go into the next towns that i may preach there also for therefore came i forth and he preached in their synagogues throughout all galilee and look what it says and cast out devils i want you to look at we've gotten barely through mark chapter one and how many times is it talking about him casting out devils a whole lot right so this is an important issue now we discern we decide who needs deliverance now there's going to be these situations now of course you say well well pastor dean you know we don't have people crying out in church and manifesting demons well we think we have sometimes but um but it doesn't always happen the same way it's what i'm getting at sometimes they cry out sometimes they don't sometimes the demon manifests and sometimes just because it manifests or it doesn't manifest doesn't mean it's not there right i've had plenty of people coming to church that had demons but they knew better than to show off okay you could tell they wanted to but they're like oh god if we show our
face in this place he's going to cast us out and they don't want it they don't want to be cast out all right so some some people and and listen the reason i say this about this right here is some people say that well if it doesn't happen like this then it's you know this is the only way it's supposed to happen if somebody cries out or demon manifest that's when you cast it out no that's just the way it happened in this particular instance we don't know how it happened with all these other people that gathered at the door some of them may have just recognized you know what this guy had a demon problem but maybe i got one too and a lot of people know you know listen a lot of people out there know they have demon problems they just don't know what to do about it i know a lot of unsafe people admit they have demons just straight up admit it i mean we've heard some at work i know it they're not they're not always they're not always willing to do what's necessary to get rid of them but they know they have them because they're tormenting them and vexing them right having dreams and seeing stuff and having stuff hold them down in bed and all kind of weirdness so people know that it's going on out there i just wanted you to see that in in uh in mark chapter one now i want to give you a little definition one of the things remember this is our topic of preaching deliverance to the captives one of the first things you have to do when you're discussing this with someone you already know they need deliverance right to some degree some worse another so you already know this because you know isaiah 42 now right all right but you got to get them to understand it all right one of the first things that you have to dispel is when you talk about demons or demon somebody needing the devil cast out of them their mind immediately goes to demon possession like in the movies okay well i'm not like that i'm not linda blair with my head turning around and spewing pea soup out of her mouth and see your kids i mean most of y'all won't even know what that is that was a big that was a big thing yeah the exorcist way back in the 70s and of course now there's the emily rose and there's all these different ones and they're people really getting into this demon possession movie stuff horror stuff right they're playing with stuff they don't really know what they're playing with but um because you start playing with them you're not saved you don't have jesus you start playing with them you attract them to yourself that's why most of the people there was a lot of strange deaths around the movie poltergeist and other things because they were playing with demons and the demons how play with us without jesus we kill you we mess with you i mean this is this is not a game this is why you know you take this seriously and we see jesus taking it seriously you have to be a man or woman of prayer and fasting and the word to stay strong if you're going to
deal with this on a regular basis if not if you're going to play with sin and you're going to not pray and not fast you best leave this issue alone because they will beat you up they will beat you down all right this is for the serious christian not for the weekend warrior all right all right where was i going with that oh the possessed issue yes all right now in mark chapter 1 here look it down to verse 32 where he says them that were possessed with devils okay now i'm going to give you the greek word here and it's interesting that there's three definitions from the strongs whenever i do this you know you will be tested on this there are three definitions of this long word and i don't even know if i can pronounce it correctly even with the pronunciation in the greek dictionary it is 11 39 i believe it is i can't read my own writing is da hamino dahimon which is how the da himon which is the way they say demon zomahi huh actually no i can't because i don't have it right here right now with greek it's rarely pronounced the way it is spelled all right daimong is pronounced all right so this is the definition of the word now remember we look at the word possessed people hear the word possessed they're thinking linda blair can it be linda blair yes it can be is it always that extreme no and even the definition the greek definition of the word breaks this down and here it is the word here used the word for possess this omahi means to be exercised by a demon have a demon be vexed with a demon or to be possessed okay i'm gonna go go over that it says to be exercised right out exercised by a demon to be vexed with a demon to be possessed okay now i'm going to give you the definitions of exercise vexed and possessed okay
all right exercised means what if we exercise means simply we're just regular activity right regular activity or like with you would say the bank exercises a certain level of control over your money even though it's your money you can't go tonight and get it all out can you all right that's the exercise so basically what exercise here means is some regular activity and to have a measure of control not total control that's why this is very important because we'll prove that by the scriptures it's amazing i want to say this the greek scholars knew what they were doing with the language that's why looking at these definitions there's such detail but you can find the very detail that they define things out with you can find them proven in the scriptures themselves so i'll show you right these very three things now vexed vexed means something problematic annoying frustrating worrisome so you you've got a degree here you've got exercise which just means what to have a level of control then you got somebody vexed that that their demonic problem is becoming very annoying very frustrating very worrisome and then you have the word possessed do y'all need me to slow down and give you that definition again vexed is to be problematic annoying frustrating worrisome and possessed means to be completely controlled now this is what people get in their mind when you say you might have a demonic stronghold and you might need deliverance they go oh god they're saying i'm linda blair they're saying i'm the exorcist that you know no not saying that okay so we got these three definitions now let's look at them in the word so first of all let's just do with the one possessed or totally controlled this degree of demonic problems mark chapter five everybody there mark chapter five y'all heard me teach on this before this ought to be repetitive but i'm gonna give you the totally demon possessed person the vexed person and the exercise door limited control all right so mark chapter five we've got a picture here of a man
that is totally demon possessed totally filled to overflowing has no control okay there are people like that right most of them are locked up the ones roaming around freeze why you really need jesus in your life amen all right mark 5 verse 1 and they came over unto the other side of the sea to the country of the gadarenes and when he was come out of the ship immediately there met him and this is jesus when jesus came out of the ship immediately there met him a man out of the tombs with an unclean spirit who had his dwelling among the tombs and no man could bind him not no not with chains because he had been often bound with fetters and chains and the chains had been plucked asunder by him and the fetters broken in pieces neither could any man tame him and always night and day he was in the mountains and in the tombs crying and cutting himself with stones in it interesting about the people who cut themselves that's a clear manifestation they have demons it says but when he saw jesus afar off he ran and worshiped him and cried with a loud voice what have i to do with thee jesus thou son of the most high god i adjure thee by god that thou torment me not now this is the spirit demon spirit speaking through him and he said to him come out of the man thou unclean spirit now notice this jesus said come out and the spirit didn't come out okay because then jesus said ask him what is thy name now this is when you get a fully demon-possessed person and you can command the spirit to come out if they don't come out then you need revelation you need to ask command them to give you a name i've had them give me a name i asked a demon one time talking through somebody what is your name and boy they've told me all kind of crazy stuff legion apollyon molestation i've they've they named themselves i mean one demon i can't even use some of the language that they've used i mean i've had them when i command them to tell me their name just say i mean just all kind of different ways i came in you know through such and such all kind of stuff and i'll say all right then come out jesus name sometimes you have to get them to tell you the name jesus commanded the spirit to come out it didn't come out he asked its name what is this principle revealing to us we need specific sometimes before we get deliverance i know this is what my point in covering is but i think it's important for you to see it and there's something about when a demon is exposed when he's exposed his name reveals character it reveals how he works it reveals things about him so that revelation see demons and devils they hide and their strength is in hiding in darkness
so exposing them bringing light to them identifying what their name is or what they're doing to somebody or how they got in that identifying process weakens them and begins the process of deliverance see that's why i have you all fill out the sheet the deliverance form what does that do it begins to identify how these spirits got in how and and by those things we can even know some of their names right we'll we're going to deal with all that through this this but we we begin to identify them so that begins immediately to weaken their their position ah you can't hide behind some we know that you came in through that sin or you came in through that incident or you came in through that you know occult dabbling or whatever you're exposed you spirit of divination you're exposed you spirit of of lust or whatever you see you're exposed all right so jesus asked it what it was its name a lot of people just read right over that don't realize jesus commanded the devil to come out and it didn't don't be surprised they didn't always come out the first command sometimes a little wrestling match okay so he says what is thy name and he answered my name is legion for we are many and he besought him or the demons besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding and all the devils besought him saying send us into the swine that we may enter to them and forthwith jesus gave them leave or permitted them to do so and the unclean spirits went out and entered into the swine and the herd went violently down the steep place into the sea and there were about two thousand and they were choked in the sea and of course the man was later found in his right mind delivered and set free what i love about this story is that even the pigs didn't want to live if they had to live with demons in them pigs went and committed suicide we can't live this way yet human beings will live with them for years and years and years and years right y'all with me i know i'm being a little silly but still why do you think the pigs committed suicide [Laughter] and i think god was showing us these things are so foul they're so unclean they're so horrible and pigs are nasty pigs were considered unclean animals and they are somebody was telling me the other day you took a take still take a well i won't say it y'all will never eat pork again yeah i'll tell you later my wife will start gagging or something back there
so we've got that one now turn to luke chapter eight so you got the man totally demon-possessed we're going to come back to and address some of the manifestations and things later that you'll see that's why i'm not focusing right now on his strength or him um you know cutting himself and all that we'll deal with that that stuff later but in luke chapter eight i want you to see the next thing so we've gone from the possessed totally controlled and possessed now let's go to a person vexed now remember the man the gadarene demoniac we know had thousands of demons at least 2 000 because he said a legion and so a roman legion was anywhere from two to six thousand demons in him so he had just done stuff that just kept opening doors opening doors opening doors or or maybe his family was just so into stuff who knows but he had a heap of them right maybe he acquired them just by having sex with the wrong person that's all it takes all right yeah get involved with a witch and find out what happens all right anyway luke chapter eight let's go to verse 1. right it says and it came to pass afterward that he went throughout every city and village preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of god and the twelve were with him and certain women which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities mary called magdalene out of whom went seven devils now wait a minute we just went from a man that had thousands totally demon-possessed to a woman that had seven spears now how do we know she had seven spirits how did the disciples recognize it now this is how i believe i'm just going to tell you how i believe you disagree not agree it doesn't matter but this is the way i believe is that i believe jesus sat down with her said her she she i believe she came to him and said this is what's going on this is you know because how many times did people come to him and say you know he'd say what do you want me to do for you you know lord open my eyes or lord i have leprosy or whatever they would tell him and he'd say okay and he would pray with them i mean we forget that jesus was a human being and conversational and uh he was stern sometimes but he was loving and compassionate and sat down with people and taught with him right and i believe he sat down with her and he said okay what's your what's your problem and he did this with the father remember the boy demon possessed he sat down with the boy's over there foam and he was not freaking out how long ago did this happen when did this start in his life and i believe jesus sat down with this woman found out what her problems were and he began to pray for her and seven different spirits showed their their face or seven different spirits manifested and come out came out in some
way enough that the disciples were able to count them and know this woman had seven demons leave her okay but it says nothing about her being in the tombs cutting herself having to be bound with chains she wasn't totally demon possessed but she was vexed and she needed deliverance not from thousands of demons but from just these seven demons right how many of you know seven demons is still bad amen all right now let's go to the luke we're going to go over a few chapters here oh let's go over to luke 13 i believe it is yes luke 13 verse 10. now here's a woman that's exercised she has a devil that just has a limited area of control in her life but it was physically causing her some serious problems right all right luke 13 verse 10 and he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath day and behold there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity 18 years she had a what spirit of infirmity right so it was a demon spirit of infirmity now why did they call it a spirit of infirmity because it was causing her to have an infirmity well this is difficult isn't it why did jesus call a spirit one time a deaf and dumb spirit because the boy was deaf and dumb why do we call a spirit a lust spirit because if it's making you lust it's a lust spirit why do we call it a spirit of adultery because that's what it's doing if that's the way it's manifested that's what it's doing amen y'all with me we don't have to some people get i just recent well i just got an email on facebook because some of the stuff i commented one lady i mean she wasn't being disrespectful but we were talking about the kundalini spirit all right the kundalini spirit is a spirit talked about by hindus they name their spirits you know i'm saying kundalini is just the name of a spirit right and she was like is this biblical at all and i had told her look they call it a kundalini spirit now to us it's just a demon or a devil but that's their name for it you know and so if somebody acquired one of these spirits one of these hindu demons i'm going to call it a kundalini spirit and i'm going to bind it and command it to come out right it's not complicated right there's 17 different spirits or more mentioned in the bible so we'll get to those but it doesn't always have to be one of
those names you know sometimes you're going to ask a spirit a spirit might be manifested through somebody you say what is your name in jesus name tell me what is your name and it has to tell you when it tells you i mean it may say something like something crazy like you know i'm apollyon's brother i don't know it doesn't matter it told you his name you say well apollyon's brother come out in the name of jesus go simple it's not complicated right all right so it says that she had a spirit of infirmity 18 years and was bowed together and could in no wise lift up herself and when jesus saw her he called unto her and said unto her woman thou art loosed from thy infirmity and he laid his hands on her and immediately she was made straight and glorified god and then he said in the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation because jesus had healed on the sabbath day and said unto the people there are six days in which men ought to work in them therefore come and be healed and not on the sabbath day and the lord then answered him and said you hypocrite well jesus wasn't always nice was he he said you hypocrite does not each one of you on the sabbath day lose his ox or his ass from the stall and lead him away to watering and ought not this woman being a daughter of abraham whom satan has bound lo these eighteen years be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day and when he had said these things all his adversaries were ashamed and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him so jesus set this woman free from a spirit of infirmity now notice what it says she had one spirit of infirmity this thing had one area of control in her life but look at it 18 years long so we've seen three remember the greek definition of possessed to be exercised with a demon right to be vexed with a demon to be possessed with a demon so within the definition i'm just saying within the definition i see three levels of demonic influence or demonic strongholds in a person and i think you just saw three levels revealed in the gospels right the gathering demoniac with his thousands mary magdalene with her seven and the woman with the spirit of infirmity with the one okay so this is what when you're preaching deliverance to the captives you're gonna have to deal with this now even though you may be talking to a person who has
thousands i'm just telling you you need to address it as if no i'm not talking about linda blair i'm not talking about total demon possession but you need to get rid of these things that are tormenting you vexing you are controlling this area of your life or whatever this is the way you explain it now if in the deliverance session after you've prayed and fasted and you sat down with them and they turn into linda blair it's no big deal you deal with it then and their eyes will be open to i was linda blair i just didn't know it okay some of them will discover that right
