[Music] Lift up your voice for your holy Lord, you are worthy. I will do you in the [Music] for [Music] you. to [Music] my heart. You are my I'm too [Music] [Music] holy Lift your voice. Worthy unto you. Glory. Glory in the highest for you are glory Lord. You are worthy unto you. Glory in the highest. I love you, Lord. And I lift my voice to worship you. Oh my soul, rejoice. Take joy my king in what you hear. Let it be a sweet sweet sound in your one more time. Let's sing it out.
And I love you, Lord. And I lift my voice [Music] to worship you, oh my soul, rejoice. Take joy, my king, in what you hear. [Music] Let it be a sweet, sweet sound. Let it be. Let it be a sweet, sweet sound. Let it be. Let it be a sweet, sweet sound in your peace. Praise you, Lord. We just praise you, Lord. We love you so much, Lord. We just thank you. We thank you, Lord, for all that you've done for us, Lord. we come together just to to worship you and love you and we want to know what your word is telling us to do. So Lord, we just I just pray right now in Jesus' name for all hearts to be softened, all ears and eyes to be opened, Lord God, that uh so your word can have an effect on us, Lord, as it's supposed to. Lord, we pray that right now in Jesus name and we just love you so much and thank you. Amen. You may be seated. Good morning. So, the song before said, "You are worthy of all praise. To you our lives we raise." Do we really do that? I didn't even know when I was picking out those songs this morning. I didn't even remember that line, but that kind of goes along with the message that the Lord has for us this morning. Um, do we really have we really given our lives really given our lives to Jesus? We've said prayers, we show up for church, we do all these things. Um, but are we going all the way? You can go ahead and put up my title. Are you dead yet? This is the message the Lord gave me for um for me, for you, for whoever's listening, whoever will listen. Are you dead yet? Um and this struck me. I've been trying to in in my daily time with the Lord, I've been trying to um read this little devotion.
and it's called Daily Awakenings and it's done by evangelist the late evangelist Steve Hill Steven Hill of the Brownsville Revival and it's just got some really good just some good um zingers in there, you know, that really get you. you know, you you've been to church, when you come back feeling like you have wounds and and you need Jesus to help you because you just got a zinger from the pastor or from his word or from worship or whatever. And um so I'm going to start off by reading this little devotional and and he title is is where that came from. Okay. Which way does it go? Okay. that way. There we go. All right. Um, you know what? Is it working or am I pointing it the wrong way? Well, that would be Thank you, Jordan. How about that? Turn the little button that says on. That would work. That will work. Let's see now. Let's see. Look at that. Is amazing. You're such a technical guru. Yeah, that's why he does our media. Um, so dying to self out of Galatians 2:20 and you can turn there or you can follow along on the screen. I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Okay, this is how the devotion starts. And I've just made it a little bigger so you can read it. Steve Hill said, "Early on in my Christian life, I learned the biblical principle of dying to self. I learned that my life was not my own." How many of you know that this morning? If you're if you're living for Jesus, your life is not your own. I began to understand that my way of thinking, my will, and my desires had to be taken to the cross and crucified. I now belonged to Jesus. Whoever wrote the following article on dying to self refused to put his or her name as the author. It serves as a clear example of what the Christian life should be. Now, how about that? You don't see that very often, you know, nowadays. If you're writing something, you want credit for it. You want to boost it. You want to get likes and and clicks and everything else. But this person who wrote this next section didn't even put their name on it.
When you are forgotten or neglected or purposely set at not and you don't sting and hurt with the insult or oversight, but your heart is happy being counted worthy to suffer for Christ. That is dying to self. When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinions ridiculed, and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart or even defend yourself, but take it all in patient, loving silence, that is dying to self. When you lovingly and patiently bear any disorder, any irregularity, any impunctuality, or any annoyance, when you can stand face to face with waste, folly, extravagance, spiritual insensibility, and endure it as Jesus endured it, that is dying to self. Are we saying, "Oh me," or, "Amen." When you are content with any food, any offering, any reignment, any climate, any society, any solitude, any interruption by the will of God, that is dying to self. Oh me. Yeah. When you never care to refer to yourself in conversation or to record your own good works or itch after commendation. When you can truly love to be unknown, that is dying to self. When you can see your brother prosper and have his needs met and can honestly rejoice with him in spirit and feel no envy nor question God while your own needs are far greater and in desperate circumstances. That is dying to self. When you can receive correction and reproof from one of less stature than yourself, and can humbly submit inwardly as well as outwardly, finding no rebellion or resentment rising up with with your heart, that is dying to self. Are you dead yet? In these last days, the Spirit would bring us to the cross that I may know him, being made conformable to his death. Now, this is Steve Hill finishing this up. My friend, it is so true that everyone wants the benefit of the cross, but no one wants to be crucified. Everyone wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die. Everyone wants Jesus to change them, but no one wants to die to self. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the cross, the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:8. Philippians 2:8 tells us, "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." If you're going to be a Christian, you must be willing to lay down your life. If you want to wear a crown, you must first carry a cross. If you want Jesus to live through you, you must begin dying to self. Because isn't that what our goal is to be more like him. Um that I could sit down right now because that will preach. I mean that is a dagger in the heart especially of us Americans who have to have everything just so when our door dash order doesn't arrive right we get in a tizzy when you know we have so many things that are just so unimportant and the way that we react respond I'll give you one yesterday something happened and it made me upset and sad and I didn't respond to the person the way I should have. That was a reflection on me and Jesus. You know, now I didn't cuss or fuss or, you know, anything like that, but I should think of that person and how they feel and what how it impacts them and not be worried about myself and how I feel about it if I'm if I'm following after Jesus. So, how do we do this? There's an epidemic. There's an epidemic of me, myself, and I in this world. Um, we think it's okay to have an attitude. We think it's okay, you know, to get sassy and and be um judgmental or what I mean, you know, don't even get me started. Every time I stand up here, I complain about social media, you know. because it's just unbelievable the things that people say and do on there that never would have been before. you know, this whole event, and I won't even say it because I don't want to get into any algorithms, but this old whole event recently that upset everyone and should have, but there's a whole just flood of just coming from this, you know, and the anti- Israel movement has just kicked in high gear. Well, let me tell you something. If you are a Christian, I don't care if you believe you're supposed to bless Israel or not. Guess what Jesus said? He took it further. He said, "Bless, pray for our enemies." All of them. So if you hate them, they're your enemy. You
better check your heart and you better start praying and blessing them instead of cursing them and doing that. It doesn't matter if it's them or anybody else in your life or the government or anything else. Bless, bless, bless, pray for, pray for, pray for. That's what Jesus said. That's our example. So, how do we um I like this. You need an attitude adjustment. Let me get my tools. You know what our tool is? The word. The word is our tool to adjust to. We should be adjusting to it. Not to not being conformed to this world. We should be conformed to what the Lord is telling us to do. So what is our prescription for this epidemic of me, myself and I? Humility. Humility. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and he shall lift you up. James 4:10. Even Apos the Apostle Paul who you know he had some bragging rights. He wrote through the Holy Spirit. He wrote half of the Bible. But what did he say of himself? He took Jesus's example, right? He became like Jesus and he lowered himself. And he said in 1 Corinthians 15:9 and 10, "For I am the least of the apostles that that am not me to be called an apostle." How about that? You wrote half of the, you know, Bible through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, but you're not not meat to be called an apostle because I persecuted the church of God. He took it seriously what he came from. And he allowed that to help him not get puffed up. Remember where you came from. None of us are up here. You know, we all came from down here. And the Lord has by his grace saved us, healed us, delivered us. says, "But by the grace of God, I am what I am. And his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain, but I labored more abundantly than they all. Yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me." He he constantly referred to the grace of God, right? That's why he did what he did. Ephesians 3:8, "Unto me who am less than the least of all saints is this grace given that I should preach among the Gentiles the uncarchable riches of Christ." How did he preach to the Gentiles? He gave all the glory to God. It was his grace. and an even better example, Jesus Christ. So we go to Philippians 2:1.
If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the spirit, if any bowels and mercies, fulfill ye my joy, that ye may be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Does that describe the church nowadays? Not at all. Not at all. It's so far from that. But what mind are we supposed to have? The mind of Christ. So, if we're all living for for Jesus, why don't we why don't we have one mind? Why aren't we in one accord? Me, myself, and I. Uh, let's see that one. That was a side track. Verse three, let nothing be done through strife or vain glory, but in loneliness of mind. There's that humility. Let each esteem other better than themselves. Can we get up in the morning and say that this is our attitude? Hm. I wonder how so- and so is doing. Let me check on them. I wonder what they need. Let me check on them. You know, is that our attitude? Are we are we looking out for others? Verse four, look not every man on his own things, but but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. So there's that mind of of Christ who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeliness of men. And being found in fashion as a man, he Jesus humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name. That at at that name at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. So let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. What did he do? Those are the things that stuck out to me. Loneliness of mind esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. So what was the mind of Christ? His mind was on you when he came and humbled himself.
His mind was on your eternity when he came and humbled himself and made himself a servant for us, right? He was thinking of others. He certainly it certainly wasn't you know a joy to do what he did but he suffered because he humbled himself and he thought of others. That's the mindset we need to get especially as we head into these turbulent you know times think of others. And then we have this from Jesus himself. Matthew 18:14. And I'm going to take a sip of water with it. At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, and said, "Verily I say unto you, except you be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." And that's pretty serious. We need to note that you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. That's do we read just kind of glance over that what he said there? Ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. You have to lower yourself to be exalted. And then later on Matthew 23:12, he was speaking to the scribes and Pharisees and said, "And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased, and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted." It's always reversed, isn't it? James 4 6-10. But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. So it's not just about it's not just about being humble. It's about fighting that pride in our life. Um, you know, that's that's a tough thing to do because it rises up. We'll get it under control and then something will happen. Someone will say something, we'll do something good or somebody, oh, you did such a great job. Oh, you look beautiful. You have to fight the pride. Um, because God's going to resist that. It's it's really it's a serious thing.
God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners, and purify your hearts, ye double- minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. to go back to visit this pride. We have a little little break here. I'm going to play a little video. When I I saw this video quite a while back and um when I saw it, the caption on it was basically this child, she thought she was convinced that this was an apple and would not take anything else for an answer. Right? So pride, right? When we can't just humble ourselves and say, "Oops." Can I just tell you, after a first bite of an onion, I would be humbled. That's pride. But she keeps going. or he I can't tell. You get the picture. It only hurts you when you're prideful, right? I mean, it hurts you. It hurts Well, it'll hurt those around you, but there we just don't have time for that. Humble yourselves, you know, in your in your family, in your with in your marriage, children with your parents, parents with your children, right? I mess up sometimes and I'm like, "Oops, I was wrong about that. Sorry, Faith. I'm getting old. My brain's not as sharp as it used to be." Right? It's hard for a parent to do that with a child. It's it seems like it's hard for spouses to do that to with each other, but it's a good it's a good practice, right? So, I can't let you see that.
John Bevere said, "Humility and the fear of the Lord run hand in hand the way pride and rebellion run hand in hand." And that is so true. Proverbs 22:4 says, "By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor in life." And then Proverbs 15:33 says, "The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility." And last night whenever I was doing this, the Lord's been like keeps bringing verses about humility. And yes, I don't have this down at all. Like I said, yesterday was a a you know, or the day before. I'm sorry. It was I think it was the day before. It just, you know, I don't have it and none of us will have it perfectly, right? But the Lord has been bringing verses and just keeps speaking humility, humility, humility, humility. And I'm like, "Okay, Lord, I get it. I get it." But then last night, you know, and he put it together with dying to self and the cross. But then last night whenever I saw this verse and this quote from John Bevere, which I've had this quote in my notes for a while, but that Proverbs 15:33, the fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom and before honor is humility. And I just felt compelled to where the Holy Spirit say look up what is honor right? I mean what does that mean? Well I was actually surprised because when I looked it up kabode I don't know if you're familiar with that word but it's glory. Glory. That weighty presence of God. his kabode, right? Splendor, abundance, glory, honor. So if we go back it to Proverbs 15:33, the fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom and before God's glory is humility. What do we have to do? We pray for revival. Oh Lord, send us revival. Lord, we want revival. Oh, we need more of you. La. Well, what is he saying? Humble yourselves, right? Humble yourselves. And I'm I'm coming. But you got to humble yourselves. How can he pour out his spirit and bring something like or even more than the Brownsville revival when we can't think of something more than ourselves? Because those people at the revival, they sacrificed. They sacrificed daily. They stopped their lives completely and died to self. They had to be at the church at all hours. They had to lock up
at all hours. They had to deal with all kinds of people. Church people aren't always great to deal with except for this crowd right here. Y'all are wonderful. But they have people coming from all over the world. They had to humble themselves. So how can we pray Lord give us revival come into this place when we're thinking about ourselves right that word that glory that um kabode or kabad it's the same word used here when Moses is saying I beseech thee show me thy glory in Exodus 33:18, "Show me thy glory." And he said, "I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee, and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy." And he said, "Thou canst not see my face, for there shall no man see my see me and live." And the Lord said, "Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock, and it shall come to pass. My glory passeth by that I will put the thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by, and I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts, but my face shall not be seen." Right? Same word that was in that other verse about humility. Before glory is humility. Same word here. Exodus 40. And when Moses reared up the tent round about the tabernacle um and the altar and set up the hanging of the courtgate, so Moses Moses finished the work. And then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle, and Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation because of the cla because the cloud abode there on. And the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys. But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyied not till the day that it was taken up. So this is the cloud, the glory cloud that that leads them that tells them when to go and when not to go, right? For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day and fire was on it by night in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys.
It's the same glory here. When Solomon finishes his temple and it says, "Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, he had dedicated it praying. The fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the house. And the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house. And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshiped, and praised the Lord, saying, "For he is good, for his mercy endureth forever." 2 Chronicles 7 1-3. That's God's glory showing up in the house of the Lord, right? Showing up in the house of the Lord. Um, let me go on to this next one. That's that view. I don't the camera. Anyway, um so my next slide is what I just spoke of. Do we want revival? Do we want revival? What did that verse say? Right. But for his glory comes humility. Just remind yourself of that when you're feeling like you're going to be losing it on somebody or being hotty or you know thinking of only what you have to do during the day. 2 Chronicles 7:11-15 says, "Thus Solomon finished the house of the Lord and the king's house uh and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the Lord and in his own house he prosperously affected. And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. If I shut up heaven that there be no rain. That's what it feels like recently around here, isn't it? Or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people, if my if right, if my people which are called by my name shall what? humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways. Then will I hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
Oh Lord, we want that, don't we? So keys to revival. The first thing he said was to humble. Be humble. So this is I would like to see the Lord pour out his spirit in this place. I would like to see true revival. Not a scheduled revival like a lot of churches have. I want to see true revival where God is in charge hit this place. Right? So, I'm calling on everyone here and everyone listening. Let's humble ourselves. Let's work on this. This let let this be our action item when we go forth. You know, let's humble ourselves. Number one, pray. And we are praying. We're praying. Hopefully, you're praying in your own time and we pray here. Seek my face. spend time seeking his face and turn from their wicked ways, which means repent. Repent. Um, you know, none of us are above humbling and repenting and doing all these things. So, let's look at what it means because it's easy to throw out, you know, sometimes churches throw out the the words, but do we understand what it means when he says humble themselves? Bend the knee to humiliate. I mean, that's pretty clear right there. humiliate yourself on Sunday morning when you come in here and the worship is moving and you want the Holy Spirit to just do a powerful thing here and you want God's presence to be felt and seen. Humiliate yourself, right? Raise those hands if you're not a hand raiser. Clap those hands if you're not a hand clapper. Move a little like you're Pentecostal, but don't get cookie. I've seen that, too. We don't want we don't want cookie. But humiliate yourself. Stop thinking of yourself. Stop thinking of yourself and think of him and think about what we want to bring into this body. There are people who need to be healed and delivered and saved. And we need more of God. We need revival. So humiliate yourself. Bring down low into subjection under humble humble self. Subdue to bow the knee to submit oneself to behave oneself submissive submissively. Do you hear that? Teenagers, children, wives, people who have bosses behave submissively.
1 Peter 2:21, Jesus Christ once again is our example of humility. For even here unto were ye called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that we should follow his steps, who did no sin, neither was God found in his mouth. who when he was reviled reviled not again. When he suffered, he threatened not, but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously. who his own self bear our sins in his own body on the tree, and that we being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness, by whose stripes we were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray, but are now returned unto the shepherd and bishop of your souls. And I want to point out this part. Jesus committed himself to him that judges righteously. This will make all the difference in being able to be humble. Because you're not thinking about what other people think or how other people judge you. You are constantly redirecting your thoughts and realizing that what is important is to commit yourself to him that judges righteously. Doesn't matter what people on Facebook say about you. It doesn't matter what your family says about you. It's what God says about you. And God has given you instructions. And if you're obeying, then he's the one that's judging you. And that's all there is to it. That's all we have to worry about. We spend too much time thinking about everything else. Hebrews 4, you know, it is hard, but it's been done. And if we're to be like Jesus, we have a great example of it's been done. Hebrews 4:14 says, "Seeing then that we have a great high priest that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the son of God, let us hold fast our profession." That means you can do it. For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Right? In all points, he's he's had it all. Right? He's experienced it all.
So, we can't whine that it's too hard. He said to do it, but you know what? Let's see. The key is he gives grace to the humble. That's the key. When Paul was talking about grace, right? It's because he humbled himself. Jesus humbled himself and was able to do what he needed to do. We humble ourselves. We get a measure of grace from the Lord that's going to empower us to do the things that we need to do. So, Revelation 12:11, a lot of people like to quote this verse and they overcame him, the enemy, Satan, the accuser of the brethren, by the blood of the lamb. So, that's our salvation. We have we have to have that to overcome and by the word of their testimony. We have to have that. We have to live for him and have a testimony of living for him. But this other thing, and they loved not their lives unto the death. You know, it was funny. I was just kind of looking to see if there was any cute pictures of this verse. Do you know how many of them left off that last line? Yeah, we don't like that. That's not as pleasant. They love not their lives unto death. And that means actual death, right? That means actual death. That is that is coming. The martyrdom and all of that, but it also I read that as death to self. Crucify yourself. Put yourself up on that cross and get rid of that flesh. They loved not their lives unto death. Because John 12:24-26 says, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone. But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it, and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto etern life eternal, which is import the important part. If any man serve, and I put in parenthesis after looking it up, to be an attendant or minister unto, because that's a big thing that the Lord keeps bringing back to me is we are to minister to him. Too many times we come in. It's okay to get ministry, but the purpose of the the body of Christ, we're supposed to be ministering to him and and helping people get there. Disciple them so they can. If any man serve or minister unto me, let him follow me, and where I am, there shall also my servant be. If any man serve me, him will my father honor.
John 12. And so we go back up here. Except the corn, a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone. But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. You have to die. When that when that seed goes into the ground, how does it bring forth what you're planting? That outer shell has to be broken up. It has to, if you pull up a video on the YouTube and watch germination, you'll see it under the ground. That has to be broken. It has to be broken. And so that's the same for us. We have to be broken. We have to we have to lower ourselves so that we can bring forth much fruit. You have to you have to you have to die to yourself and your flesh and your wants and your desires. So I bring it back to this because it was so good and we're going to read this again in reflection of all that we just went over all that scripture. Right? So it says, and this is the unknown author saying, when you are forgotten or neglected or purposely set at not, and you don't sting and hurt with the insult or the oversight, but your heart is happy being counted worthy to suffer for Christ, that is dying to self. When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinions ridiculed, and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart or even defend yourself. But take it all in patient loving silence, that is dying to self. When you lovingly and patiently bear any disorder, any irregularity, any impunctuality, or any annoyance, when you can stand face to face with waste, folly, extravagance, spiritual insensibility, and endure it as Jesus endured it, that is dying to self. When you are content with any food, any offering, any raignment, any climate, any society, any solitude, any interruption by the will of God, that is dying to self. When you never care to refer to yourself in conversation or to record your own good works or itch after commendation, when you can truly love to be unknown, that is dying to self. When you can see your brother prosper and have his needs met and can honestly rejoice rejoice with him in spirit and feel no envy nor question God while your needs are far greater and in desperate circumstances that is dying to self. When you can receive the correction and reproof from one of less stature than yourself, and can humbly submit inwardly
as well as outwardly, finding no rebellion or resentment, rising up with your heart, that is dying to self. Are you dead yet? In these last days, the Spirit would bring us to the cross that I may know him, being made conformable to his death. So the question we have is, are you dead yet? That's what that's what the Lord wants to know this morning. Are you dead yet? Do you need to repent of pride? Do you need to repent? And and let me let me just make a side note. There's also false humility. And I see that a lot in the church. And it's gross. I mean, just to be honest, it's gross, you know. Do you have true humility? You know, because a lot of people are very proud of their humility, and that's not the way it works, right? Um Jesus wasn't trying to get hits on YouTube. Jesus wasn't wasn't here to to really puff up himself and build his own ministry. We shouldn't be about my my my my. So, I just encourage you this morning to do some self-reflection. And as Steve Hill said, everyone wants the benefit of the cross, but no one wants to be crucified. It's not fun to live for others all the time. I mean, it's not it's not fun to not get what you want, but that's a child, isn't it? When you throw tantrums, I'm not getting what I want. And it it it really is something that you have to learn to think of others over yourself, you know, and I'm not I'm not there, you know. Last last night I'm getting uh Pastor Dean has been a little under the weather and so last night I'm getting ready for this and I'm like really into it and then I look down and I'm like dinner time. I have to cook and can I tell you I went in there and did it. Made some salmon, you know, all this. But I had a little bit of an attitude because I was being interrupted for food, right? And so I copped a little bit of an attitude and then I realized what am I doing? I'm teaching on humility and serving others and I have an issue making dinner for my family. What is wrong with me? So I'm not there, you know, I'm not there. But I did repent and I did recognize it. And that's the key is continually saying, "Oh Lord, you know, convict me where I'm off." So let's pray.
Lord, I thank you for your word. I thank you for that you humbled yourself for us. I thank you that you thought of us over yourself. I thank you, Lord God, that you made a way, Lord, that we could come before you and that we could spend eternity with you. But Lord, we know that we have to play a part in in obeying your word. So Lord, I just pray right now in Jesus' name, Lord, that everyone who listens to this would be able to check themselves that would they would be able to repent. They would be able to humble themselves, Lord God. Holy Spirit, convict us where we're off. Convict us of the things that are are that hurt your heart, Lord, because we want to please you and minister to you. And so Lord, I pray that for all of us in Jesus' name. Lord, just convict us, draw us, and help us to be um pleasing vessels, Lord, for you. And I pray that all in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Hug some necks before you leave.
