Lyrics
[Intro] You can quote every line, still miss what it means. Know the shape of the letters, never see the King. Dark lenses on, white cane in your pride— Claiming, “I see,” while you’re leading the blind.
[Verse 1] James one-twenty-two—hearers, be warned: If the Word never moves you, self-deception is born. The devil tells lies, false teachers assist, But you complete the triangle when you hear and resist. Men ought always to pray and never to faint, Yet we ask for revival while ignoring the way. Lip service loud, but the heart stays distant, Tradition gets crowned and the truth meets resistance.
Pride of the heart has deceived thee—Obadiah. A spark of information makes a man feel higher. One verse in your fist, now you speak like a guide, While the rest of the counsel gets pushed to the side. Pharisees knew text, every statute and letter, Then the Word stood before them—and they thought they knew better. Messiah gave sight, but their system said, “No.” When the evidence challenged them, they covered their souls.
[Pre-Hook] Nicodemus came asking, “Teach me what I missed.” That is where sight starts—not the pride of the lips. Not “I’ve mastered the truth,” not “My circle is right,” But “Jesus, I’m listening—bring me into the light.”
[Hook] Legally blind, saying, “I see, I see,” While the beam in my eye keeps accusing everybody but me. Give me eyesalve, Lord, let the old scales fall; I would rather see my sin now than be blind when You call. Legally blind, with religion as a disguise— I don’t need another slogan; I need You to open my eyes. Search my heart, burn the pride out of me; Truth is not what I claim—truth is what makes me free.
[Verse 2] Matthew fifteen: commandments traded for tradition, Worship rendered empty by man-made religion. “They be blind leaders”—both fall in the ditch; Truth cannot be purchased, edited, bent, or switched. John nine: the sightless received revelation, But the men claiming vision remained in condemnation. Christ said, “Now ye say, We see”—sin remains; Humility receives what a proud heart disdains.
[Double-Time] Study to show yourself approved unto God, A workman dividing every line without fraud. Context, grammar, audience, meaning— Gather every witness before you start teaching. Don’t isolate a phrase, build a throne, call it sound; If another text confronts it, then you study it down. Second Timothy two—truth rightly divided; Error spreads like a canker when the proud get excited.
[Verse 3] Laodicea said, “Rich—I have need of none.” Jesus answered, “Wretched, poor, naked, undone; Neither cold nor hot, and your vision is dim. Buy gold tried by fire; seek your sight from Him.” Eyesalve from the Spirit—show the real me: Not the church-face version that I want You to see. Envy in the basement, unforgiveness in the hall, Hidden lust, buried anger—Holy Ghost, reveal it all.
[Bridge – Half-Time] We must all appear before the judgment seat. Every work in the body laid bare at His feet. Did I point men to Christ—or guide them to a grave? Did I practice what I preached? Did I hear and obey?
So I won’t wait for judgment to discover my disguise. Lord, correct me now. Put Your salve upon my eyes. I agree with Your Word: I was wrong; You are right. By the blood of Jesus Christ, bring me back into the light.
[Final Verse – Rising] Second Corinthians five: be reconciled to God. Not agreement with a label, but agreement with the Lord. Christ bore our trespasses; mercy opened the door; Repent, return, receive—and walk in truth evermore. Ambassadors of Jesus, with a word of reconciliation, Not proud executioners, but a pleading invitation. Yet the warning still stands: do not handle truth light; Blind guides stain their hands when they lead souls at night.
Give me courage to obey, give me patience to learn, Give me love for correction when the Scriptures overturn Every cherished assumption, every comfortable lie— Better broken before Jesus than self-certain and blind.
[Final Hook] Legally blind, I won’t keep saying, “I see.” Holy Spirit, open Scripture—start the surgery in me. Give me eyesalve, Lord, let the old scales fall; I would rather bow in truth than stand proud and lose it all. No religious disguise, no tradition over Christ; Let me hear, let me do, let me walk inside the light. Search my heart, keep me humble at Your feet— Jesus, open my eyes… and make my vision complete.
[Outro] Not “I see.” “Lord, help me see.”
